Can't change my Port under preferences

For some reason.
I have chosen my server for outgoing mail, but when I go to advanced to type in the appropriate Port #, the number that is there is shaded and I can't type there. I click the SSL checkbox on and off and the port number changes but incorrectly both times.
Is there a way I can control what port I wanna send my mail through?
Thanks

You do not have to set up your mail again.
If you scroll down far enough in the screenshots it tells how to access
the smtp server settings.
NOT on the advanced tab, but under the 'account information' tab.
On the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pop-up menu (close to bottom )select Edit Server List.
Result: The SMTP Server Options window opens. This window should let you change
the port smtp uses.
You are not trying to change the smtp port in the correct location if you are seeing the port number 143 was my point.

  • How can I change the port of a running database ?

    Hi Friends,
on my laptop there is running a 9i DB with port 1521 and a 10gR2 DB with port 1521 also.
The tnsping on these db's is successfully and
with any tools I get the error : ORA-12505 .
How can I change a port number e.g. of the 10g DB ?
    Thanks,
    Friedhold

These tools you are talking about, did you configure the tnsnames for them?
If you plan to change the default listening port, you need to modify the listener.ora file under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
After 9i, Oracle has service registration
A feature by which the PMON process automatically registers information with a listener. Because this information is registered with the listener, the listener.ora file does not need to be configured with this static information.
You can try to run one listener, see if both instances can register themselves in even they are different versions.

  • Can't change printer port on Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2

    1. Install "Lexmark X646e Class Driver" using a in-box print driver (i.e. one comes with the Windows installation base) .
    2. Go to "Printer properties" -> "Port"
    3. Select a custom monitor port, and the following error occurs in Event Viewer.
An error occurred while configuring print queue 'Lexmark X646e Class Driver'. Printer driver 'Lexmark X646e Class Driver' may not be used in conjunction with a non-inbox port monitor.
Same steps applied on Windows 8 and Server 2012, and not issues found. The restriction/limitation is newly added in Window 8.1 and Server 2012 R2.
Changing to a custom monitor port after printer driver installation is very important for us.
How can we solve or workaround the above issue, so it can behave like Windows 8 and Server 2012?

What Port Monitor just so I can bubble this information to some others?
    Alan Morris Windows Printing Team
    Hi Alan:
We developed a custom printing system, which involved the following configurations:
    1. Create a custom port monitor on server 2012 r2.
    2. Change an existing print queue to use this custom port monitor, and share this print queue.
    3. All workstations will print to this shared print queue on the server.
The goal is to manage/monitor the print information in StartDocPort for all printing for instance.  This is what we've been doing for a long time.
Now we upgraded our system from server 2012 to server 2012 R2, but we can't change the port monitor to our ones anymore.
I've tried the Type3 printer driver, such as Brother Color Type3 Class Driver, unfortunately it didn't work if the installation is using "Add a printer", and select the driver from the list.
The only way to make it work is to install the printer driver using the one downloaded from the vendor's website, this will bypass Windows "Add a printer".
Is there any chance we can make this to behave like server 2012 or earlier? Modify registry keys?
    Cheers
    Steven

  • How can I change HTTP port in J2EE

    Hi.
I installed Sneak Preview 640 and I want to change HTTP port for J2EE. (default port is 50000)
So, I started config tools and move to dispatcher -> service -> http -> port.
    There is port information.
    - Custom value : empty
    - Default value : (Port:80,SocketQueue:200,AcceptingThreadsCount:10,BindAddress:,Type:http)(Port:443,SocketQueue:200,AcceptingThreadsCount:10,BindAddress:,Type:ssl)
My first question is that default port is "80" in above confirguration. Why we use "50000" ?
Second question is that I changed custom value but It doesn't work. How can I change HTTP port ?
    Regards, Arnold.

you can use the "visual administrator" to set your http-port, too:
Dispatcher / Services / HTTP Provider / Ports

    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them. Thus it appears that yor sone purchased the app.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Can't change the port

A while ago, while in a library and trying to iChat/text with my wife and getting errors I attempted changing the port to 443 to solve the issue. It helped and I was able to chat.
Now I'm having problems Vchatting and thought I'd change the port back to 5190. But I can't. When I open preferences and go to server settings and click on the port settings it's like clicking on a frozen window, nothing happens.
I realize changing the ports may or may not solve my problem, but why on earth can I no longer change the port settings?
    Thanks

    Hi Daniel,
You first have to log out of your AIM account.
(you can log out by selecting iChat's pull down menu and select "log out of AIM)
Then you will be able to change the port.

  • Can't change firewall rules via preferences pane

When I select the Sharing preferences and switch to "Firewall", I get the following error (in German): "Sie können die Firewall-Einstellungen nicht ändern, da beim Lesen der Einstellungen von Ihrem System ein Fehler aufgetreten is", which actually means something like "You can't change your firewall settings because an error occured while reading your settings".
The error doesn't go away even after rebooting.

I assume you have specified german as your default language, because if you haven't then german error is quite odd.
Anyway, have you installed any other firewall software? Something has probably caused your firewall settings to either disappear or to change in a way that mac os x cannot read them.

  • How Can I Change the Ports for WebDAV file shares.

Title says it all. I have another piece of software using port 80 and 443, I'd like to create iOS shares using WebDAV but I can't find anywhere in the GUI to change the port numbers and I can't work out whether I need to do something involving Apache virtual hosts and if so which config files are relevant to the WebDAV server.
Someone must have done this by now, anyone know how its done???!!!!
    Thanks in advance.

OK, so I worked out which files to edit and I actually managed to change the Apache/WebDAV ports on a clean 10.8 Server.
By clean I mean I installed 10.8.0, updated to 10.8.3 via the combo updater, then installed the latest version of Server app and configured the services.
Having done that I was able to make the required changes and all is working well. I then replicated the process on my live server but it throws up an error when I try to start up the WebDAV sharing.
This thread outlines the same issue:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4199421?start=0&tstart=0
I am getting this exact problem, in that any manual change at all to the 0000_any_443_.conf file will cause WebDAV to fail to start. This is annoying because I need to change that file. Its also annoying because the problem isnt there on my 'clean' server.
I deleted the entire /Library/Server/ folder and the Server.app and reinstalled Server.app from the App Store, recreating the /Library/Server folder from scratch. This cleared out the apache config files which I tried to re-modify, but all the file sharing settings were retained. Does anyone think it would be worth deleting all the sharepoints? Any other ideas?

  • How can I change the "port" the printer uses?

I want to access a Canon LBP3000 printer set as shared on a Windows PC. The Canon driver download does not allow me to find the driver when I try to add it to the shared printer.
However, if I plug the Canon in directly to the Macbook I can install the driver.
Is there a way I can change this "local" printer to point to the Windows PC printer?
In Windows, I would just change the "port" from "USB001" to "\\Windows\Canon".

    dougham wrote:
Having connected the printer to the macbook, and added the printer, how can I now tell the macbook that the printer is not attached to a USB port, but is found at \\<windowspc>\<printersharename>? It is a simple problem on a Windows PC to change the port of a printer. Surely it is also possible on a macbook.
It is possible on a Mac but this is not your problem. What Canon told you is wrong. Your problem is not with the Mac but with the Canon driver. The Canon CAPT driver for the LBP-3000 has not been designed to be used when shared from a Windows computer. It expects a direct USB connection to the Mac. The same applies to another proprietary driver called UFR2 for Mac. So no amount of queue changing will resolve your issue.
For the record, to connect to the PC share via Mac, you would normally select to add and then select the Windows icon. This lets you browse the local network, starting at the workgroup level. After selecting the workgroup, then computer, then share name, the URL will look like \\computernamesharename.
In a situation where you need to manually add the address because you cannot browse the network, you can modify the Add Printer toolbar to add the Advanced icon. This is done by Control-clicking on the Add Printer toolbar, selecting Customize Toolbar and dragging the Advanced icon to the toolbar. Then when you click the Advanced icon, a pane appears that lets you select a number of different protocol options, one of which is Windows. Here, in the URL field, after the "smb://" you can enter the computer share name followed by the share name, for example smb://windoze7/myprinter (don't be too concerned that the slashes are the opposite direction).

  • Can't change debug port on Weblogic server

Despite changing the port number on the {DOMAIN}/bin/setDomainEnv.sh script and on the {DOMAIN}/init-info/startscript.xml file Eclipse (Galileo + latest OEPE) doesn't honor that.
When the server is started on debug mode from Eclipse the listening port is 8453 which is the default.
