Can't change the cache location

I use a RAMDisk for the disk cache. Prior to upgrading to Firefox 11, I used to be able to set
browser.cache.disk.parent_directory=R:\
to set this. Now the cache is no longer located on R:\ although this setting is still there. Where has it gone and why?

Does it help if you use a specific directory like R:\temp on that drive instead of setting the root directory as the location of the cache?
Be sure to create the specified directory.
Are you setting the cache location via the about:config page?

  • Can't change ACR cache location or size

Whenever I go to change the location of the cache, or even its size, the value immediately resets back the next time I open the preferences panel. Same happens if I try to do this in ACR 6.1. The location that I want to point it at is perfectly valid, on my local drive, and I have all permissions for it.
Since Adobe apps are slightly retarded and don't follow symlinks, an attempt to sneak in a different location under a symlink ended up as expected in a crash.
Any ideas how to change the ACR cache path, or why it would be failing? No messages in the Console. OSX 10.6.4, Nehalem MacPro.

No, links don't really work with any Adobe apps, at least not on OSX. Just try to create a symlink to any of the Camera Raw settings folders (lens profiles, camera profiles - so that they are all the same on all my computers) - no dice. I write OSX software for a living and know my way with symlinks - not sure what Adobe is doing but they don't work.
But that's not the issue here - my question is why I can't change the cache directory the "normal, pedestrian way" (your average user won't know anything about symlinks).

  • How to change the CACHE location to a different drive

My Bridge's cache is located on my C drive, which is almost full.  I would like to change the cache location to drive D, which is also an internal drive, but with lots of available space.  Unfortunately, when I go to Preferences and click the "Choose" button for the cache location, it only shows me my C drive.  I am 99% sure I originally installed all of the creative cloud on my C drive, but then uninstalled it and reinstalled it on my D drive(because of space reasons).  It appears as if the application resides on the D drive, but all the app data remains on the C drive.
Is there anyway to access the D drive for the cache?
Is there anyway to move the app data files to my D drive?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Ronald,
Thanks for your response.  Here is what I see when I click the button to choose a cache location:
I have explored the file structure and can't see anything outside of these folders, which are on the C drive.

  • How can I change the default location of files?

I have just changed the location of "My documents" in Windows to point to a separate drive (in fact "e:\mydocs"). Now Flex Builder 3 can't see my projects. If I import them it wants to copy them back to "c:\documents and settings\administrator\Flex Builder 3". So I have 2 questions - firstly is it possible to alter something so that it sees my projects in the right place automatically. Secondly how can I change the default location?

  • How do I change the cache location?

I just installed the new Firefox 4.0 beta 5. I was using Firefox 3.6.9 previously.
In Firefox 4 beta, I cannot find the menu item for changing the location of the cache. Has this feature been deleted, or simply moved to some other menu?
Specifically, I need to switch the cache location from the default C:\Users\{username}\ ..... to a different drive. This is something people commonly do if they want to minimize fragmentation on their system disk.
How can I specify a different location for the cache?

There's never been a Menu item or UI pref in Firefox for moving the Cache, it's always been a hidden pref.

  • Can we change the bound location of an operator using OMB?

    Hi,
I'm trying to change the location of an table operator using the following code:
OMBALTER MAPPING 'MAP_NAME' MODIFY OPERATOR 'TABLE_TEST' SET PROPERTIES (database_link) VALUES ('PROJECT1/SOURCE1/TEMP_TABLE3')
    OMBCOMMIT
OMBPlus tells me that the command ran successfully. But if i take a look on the design center, the change didn't occur. The old location for the operator remains.
Am i using the right property type? database_link?
    Thank You!
    Filipe

What you've run only change the link location. It doesn't change the bound location.
I've write an OMB scripts to automate the changing of bound location within different project .

  • How can I change the default location ipad/iphone pictures are stored in on my desktop?

So here's my dilemma.  I have lightroom mobile on my ipad and iphone.  Seamlessly, lightroom mobile pushes these images to my desktop and saves them in a folder in windows.  I use an SSD and would prefer not doing read/writes to it that are unnecessary.  What makes the default location problematic is that I can't seem to change it.  Further, when I sync my ipad/iphone to my windows desktop using a cable, I will now have duplicates of images that were synced via lightroom mobile.  So, it would be infinitely simpler, I think, if lightroom mobile would sync ipad/iphone images to a directory I specify, on a supplemental hard drive for instance, and using dates for folder names rather than some default directory on my main drive where they are just dumped.

Currently, Lightroom saves the images in a directory structure under a folder named "Mobile Downloads.lrdata", which is created in the same folder as the catalog file.
For example, an image will be saved as:
    Windows = C:\Users\<username>\Pictures\Lightroom\Mobile Downloads.lrdata\<random hexadecimal name>\picture1.jpg
    Mac = Users/<username>/Pictures/Lightroom/Mobile Downloads.lrdata/<random hexadecimal name>/picture1.jpg
you want to change the location of this "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" to another path.
You should file an Idea, AKA Feature Request, to the Feedback site:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family
If there is enough people voting for it, the Product Managers will evaluate it and eventually apply it to a future version.
It's your interest to advertise the Idea in order to increase the number of votes (I would vote for it).
There is another similar discussion in the forum (How do i change the location of 'Mobile Downloads.lrdata' ?), I am posting the same answer there.

  • How can I change the path location for an entire album?

    Hi everyone:
If I move a folder containing an album to another location for organizational purposes, every song in the album is now lost in the library. As I know it there are two options:
    1. Manually open each individual song info and find the location one at a time. Insanely slow, tedius and painful when repeating for many albums.
    2. Delete the lost songs and re-add them. While this is faster for finding locations it eliminates Rating and playlist information for the songs because the songs are now new dictionary items in the library. Which is probably even more painful.
I am looking for 1 or 2 more options:
    3. Manually select multiple songs (or an album from the album list) and edit the path to the song locations (minus the filenames which would remain as before). This is still a pain but much more manageable.
    4. A feature that automatically finds missing songs. It wouldn't be that difficult. Add a tag to the song file with the unique db ID. Whenever a song is lost search the designated directory structure for the iTunes media. You could even import existing ID tags when creating a new library in case you are rebuilding your library or some other such activity.
My question is for #3. #4 would be a fairly simple, effective and very useful feature, so I concede it's a pipe dream. If anyone can answer #3 I would GREATLY appreciate it!!
    Thanks,
    Raiden

Type about:config in the address bar. Find browser.download.dir and change it to the path you want. Remember that Android has a linux base so the path will similar to /mnt/sdcard/downloads/

  • Can I change the geographic location in a title?

I am using the Modern Theme in iMovie 11 for Mac to edit videos taken with an iPhone 5. The theme is automatically displaying the filming location on the title but is showing the filming location as "Great Britain". I can't seem to edit this.
So, sorry if this is covered elsewhere . . . How can edit the title text or get the correct location shown (I am making an assumption that the iPhone video includes the required GPS data)? Just seeing Great Britain on the title isn't helpful when the majority of my videos are UK based.

    Found the answer.
I need to select the title, click on "Adjust", click on the "T" and then click on the globe to change the location. Obvious really.

  • How can I change the startup location if sunstudio?

    Hello all
when I start the sunstudio it creates me the .sunstudio directory in my $HOME dir ,
how can I change it so it will create me the .sunstudio directory in different place
the reason I have no space left in my $HOME dir and I have some space in different location
    Thanks

when I start the sunstudio it creates me the .sunstudio directory in
my $HOME dir , how can I change it so it will create me the
.sunstudio directory in different placeYou can override the default user directory using --userdir (note there
are 2 '-' chars in this option). So you could start with:
    $ sunstuido --userdir $MYSPACE/my-userdir
There is also 2 locations the startup script looks for configuration files
(a configuration file is just a file containing some options you want
used every time you start the IDE). One of these locations is in your
home (~/.sunstudio/ide.cfg). Do you have enough space in your
home to add a small text file? The file only needs to contain 1 line:
    --userdir $MYSPACE/my-userdir
If you don't have enough space in your home directory for that,
you could use the 2nd config file if you have a private copy of
Sun Studio. If you're using a shared version then you probably
can't do that and would have to type the command line option each
    time.
The 2nd config file is <install-dir>/netbeans/3.5V11/bin/ide.cfg
(where <install-dir> is /opt for a default install). If you are running
sunstudio from /opt/SUNWspro/bin then <install-dir> is /opt. If
its some other path then <install-dir> is whatever comes before
    the SUNWspro part.
If you're running an older version of Sun Studio (ie, older than
    Sun Studio 11) then the 3.5V11 would be 3.5V, 3.5M, or 3.5R,
depending on what version of Sun Studio you're using.

My thoughts on this are if there is room on the drive say 40% of total capacity why split it up in say four partitions with 10% each. Has to be counter productive.
True, although IMHO the myth of a computer not performing well below a certain fix percentage of drive space is not true (the percentage can get lower the bigger the drive, one primarily needs a certain amount of free space in GB, not in percents).
It is not even more secure if the drive fails then all the partitions will be affected. I have seen cases where users actually backup copies of their files in different partitions. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This does not make sense at all.
IMHO, there are a few reasons speaking for partitioning a drive, of which 2 are most striking to me:
If you want to have several instances of an operating system, each one not being able to affect/infect the other
If you want to backup entire drive images and be able to restore them, at the same time separating different classes of data (O/S, true data, cache type data never saved).

  • How can I change the file location under "Information"?

Somehow my iPod or computer generated a 2nd file named "music" within the existing file "music" where all my songs are stored. I don´t know why this happened and when I just discovered it today.
Now more than half of the songs are located under "c:\music\music". When I change this back on my computer using Explorer, i.e. move all files up one level under "c:\music" then my iPod administration gives me a failure notice for all these songs after the next synchronisation. When I check under "Information" of a song I´m told that the storage location of this song is "c:\music\music". So when I want to play that song I´m offered to search for the original which I do and puff.... the 2nd file "music" is created again and now the song is again stored under "c:\music\music".
I can change almost every entry under "Information" but not the storage location.
How can I change this back? I don´t want this! Do I have to be a slave of stupid Apple programming and keep this 2nd folder although I don´t want to have or use it?!
    Thanks for helping with this!

You can do this when exporting:
    File -> Export
Jpeg Quality refers to the amount of compression appied. Lower quality means smaller file size.
Size refers to the dimensions of the photo.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.

  • Can I change the backup location of my ipad2 b/c my c drive is full

I have a somewhat old computer and the c drive is full...I have a 2 tb hd and I am wondering if my iPad 2's backup can be saved there....I am trying to update the software to 5.0 so I can get cloud and all the new features but iTunes warns that if I continue without backing up (because there is not enough space on the c drive) I will lose all media...I have all my music, pics, and tv shows saved...but I have some home video in the iMovie app that does not appear in the camera roll and I am worried that if I continue, I may lose it

Free?  Wow, I should look into that.  Last time I checked they only give you 5GB and my iPad is 128GB.  The monthly rates were ridiculous (much cheaper to have several free Dropbox, Box and Google Drives!).  Plus I don't care for Apples lack of "tools" for organizing files.  For example, as a photographer, I'm dumbfounded that I cannot see the FILE NAMES of my pictures and the file sizes.  When I shoot RAW + jpeg with my camera, I have no control over which file type Photos ***** up (neither does the Apple Store Genius).  So I had to buy a third party app that then imports photos from Photos, thereby doubling the storage requirements.  Sometimes too simple is simply not enough!
But with Apple trying to enter the cloud market with iCloud Drive, maybe they'll be incorporating the tools and interfaces of experts like Box and Dropbox.  But from what I know, you still can't see the file names of your pictures.  So maybe they've rethought their pricing structure, as well.
