Can't check or uncheck songs when importing CD

I put in a CD and go to choose which songs I want to import and the check boxes are no longer there. I can't even go "select all" and "check all boxes". There are no boxes to check. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Ive had the same problem when im listening to my Ipod Touch i can hardly hear anything at full volume and i have multiple sets of head phones but what i have found to be effective is to almost put the earphones in this works best when listening to any You tube video to practice this with and it will become twice as loud. the dashes on you earphones plug into the jack should just barely be in.hope this helps.

  • Omit repeated songs when importing

Hi, before this last version of itunes (8.0.2) when i tried to add new songs and if this songs where already in my playlist appeared an box asking what i wanted to do "omit the songs that is already in my play list or duplicate". Now with this version doesn't ask anything, just add more duplicated songs!! Thats very bad, cause i put the new songs i have on a folder than, just import all the new folder so the new songs can appear on my playlist.
Does anyone knows why this version doesn't show this message to omit the repeated songs when importing new? Is something that i have to do to habilitate this ?
    please help
    Thanks!!

I was just about to ask the same question, I have it set to organize and make a copy to library, which i understand, that just stores the song in an itunes folder, and changes the track names but why does it make 2, sometimes 3 of the same track in the same folder? These are labeled the same in the folder with a 1 or 2 after them.
It makes copies of some songs but not all. The CD I just dragged and dropped, disc one of the new Big Star set, it did it with every song but track 1.
This has been happening as long as I can remember and seems to happen in surges. Very annoying to check every other song and delete them. Any fixes?
Even when doing one album this is time consuming and untrustworthy, but inserting a large collection, no matter if you define that as 100 or 100,000 albums would be impossible to manage this.
    Thanks

  • Checking or unchecking songs on itunes

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows how to select/check or uncheck songs in itunes. When I sync my ipod, sometimes I only want to update certain songs, and going through and checking/unchecking all of the songs is literally impossible and too time consuming.
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Jen

It's easier to manage your music using playlists instead of checking/uncheckng songs.
Create playlists and add/delete from those playlists.
Select the iPod in iTunes, click on the Music tab.
Tick Sync music and Sync selected playlists.

  • Can Lightroom render 1:1 Previews when importing my Photos?

Q: Can Lightroom render 1:1 Previews when importing my Photos?
    FAQ revised 25 April 2009
Ans: Prior to version 1.3 Lightroom did not support 1:1 preview rendering during import, the actual options for  Initial Previews being:  Embedded or  Standard. However, more recent versions allow four types of previews to be rendered during import (i.e.  Minimal, Embedded & Sidecar, Standard, and  1:1). It's also worth noting the following on Lightroom import behaviour:
    1.  Minimal (Lightroom default) or Embedded & Sidecar is by far the quickest method for getting your photos into the Lightroom catalog. However, the lack of Standard, which is the minimum that Lightroom can actually work with, means that the application will render standard-sized on demand (i.e. as thumbs/photos become visible within the photo Content area). Asking Lightroom to undertake this task at the same time as you're trying to use the application will result in sub optimal performance.
    2. Importing your photos with the  Standard preview selected within the Import dialog will take longer than 1 above, but on completion Lightroom will already have previews that match the minimum requirement for working in the Library. Assuming that you won't be looking at every image at 100% (i.e 1:1) then this preview size will allow you to quickly review, rate, label, even make quick colour/tone adjustments, etc the photos within the Library module. If you need to see a photo at 100% then Lightroom will render that preview on demand (while it's being rendered you'll see the "Rendering Preview" overlay appear at bottom of preview).  Note that when using a 23" or larger monitor it to is best to set the Standard sized previews so that they are rendered at 2048 pixels
    3. Importing your photos with the  1:1 preview size selected will result in Lightroom taking even longer to complete the import process than would have been the case if standard-sized had been chosen. 1:1 previews also take up significantly more disk space than standard-sized.
If you're not going to be working on the photos immediately after import but do need to get them into Lightroom as quickly as possible, then the best option would be to choose import option 1. Once the photos have been imported choose either  Render Standard-sized Previews or  Render 1:1 previews from Library module Library>Previews menu.

When I search these forums for "CFCopyFormattingDescription", I find a bunch of crash reports posted that look almost exactly the same as mine.  It appears there's a bug in iPhoto, perhaps when reading metadata from the JPG file (readRawTiffPropsFromPath).
Interestingly, the Preview app can open and display the file just fine.  I even opened the inspector and it showed all of the TIFF and exif metadata just fine, no crash.  The file also opens just fine on Windows.
Now how do we get the attention of the iPhoto development team so I can send them the photos, have them reproduce the crash, and fix it?

  • Itunes will play an unchecked song when it shouldn't, can I change that?

So I've noticed with the newest Itunes, when I'm playing the current song, and I activley uncheck the next upcommig song, Itunes will still play the next song like it's still checked. I've been playing around with it, and it seems that when I uncheck the next song when the current song has less than a minute left playing, the unchecked song will play next (which it never did with previous Itunes versions). If I uncheck the next song when the current song has more than a minute left of play time, then it does skip the unchecked song like it should.
How can I make the next song skip if I uncheck it less than a minute before the current song ends?
This is happening on my Windows 7 desktop in Itunes version 11.0.1.12 in the main library, if that helps at all.

The simplest way to remove the song is to remove it from the Up Next list.
Click on the Up Next icon and when you hover the cursor over the song, you will see an X appear to the left of the song. Click on the X to remove it.

  • Can I Play "Checked " and "Unchecked" Songs on PC Automatically???

I want to Sync only checked songs from my Libray to my Ipod, so I don't use up all it's capacity. But, when I play songs from my PC, only the "checked" songs play automatically. It skips over the "unchecked" songs in any list. Is there a way to fix this so that all my songs on my PC will play together, or do songs need to be checked to play automatically in any list???

*do songs need to be checked to play automatically in any list???*
Yes they do. Using unchecking to manage an iPod is an option (and works fine when you are working with a small number of specialised tracks such as Christmas songs) but only if you can live with the other things unchecking does:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
Genius will not use the songs that are unchecked.
Another method you can use to auto-sync your iPod with iTunes is "Sync Music - selected Playlists". Syncing selected playlists is just like syncing your whole library only on a smaller scale and more "selectively". This is particularly useful when your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod. When your iPod is is set to sync selected playlists it automatically picks up any changes you made to that playlist in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to the playlist will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync".
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). Drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod: Syncing Music to iPod

  • Can someone explain the message about replacing songs when importing a CD?

If this is somewhere, I have not been able to find the answer. When importing a CD, sometimes I get a message that asks if I want to replace existing songs. Can someone explain what this message means? I have tried replacing the songs and not replacing the songs, but I don't see any meaningful differences.
    Thanks!

You should sort the list on the Album column, ideally as Album by Artist. Generally all you need to do after that is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.

  • How to mass check or uncheck songs to be synchronized?

Holiday songs are a good example of songs some may wish to have on their iPod part of the year. I use the check/uncheck feature to have them loaded on the iPod only when I want them there. By doing this, I don't have to listen to Christmas music when going into shuffle mode. QUESTION: is there a way to mass check or uncheck a group of songs instead of doing each song one at a time? My searching has come up empty on this point.

    Hello Meffley,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Not sure if there is way to accomplish what you are asking.
However, I can tell you that you can set these Christmas songs to "Skip when shuffling" by enabling this option for these tracks in iTunes. Just highlight all the songs you wish to have skipped when shuffling (to highlight multiple songs at once, hold down the Control key), right->click on them and choose "Get Info" from the Menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab. Make sure there is a tick mark next to "Skip when shuffling." Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod.
When you wish to hear these songs in Shuffle Mode, go ahead and remove the tick mark and again sync the updated changes to your iPod.

  • ITunes adds duplicate songs when importing but not making copies in the iTunes Media folder?

This is an irregular problem and does not happen at every new import, but every now & again iTunes is creating duplicate files entries for the same song when I import my music folder.
Now I know many people post a similar problem, but before we start can I state that both the 'Keep iTunes Media folder organized AND "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library are  turned off, and always have been.
Right clicking on duplicates of a particular song proves that iTunes is not copying the file into it's own media folder and adding that to the library.
All listed entries for a particular song iTunes direct you to the same file in the same location in the finder.
I am currently just having to delete the duplicates everytime it makes them, although this is VERY time consuming!
Any ideas on what is causing it or what will fix the problem would be great!

Nevermind...I figured out my issue. The problem is that I'm an idiot.
When dragging my folders in, they not only had MP3 files, but a M3U file as well. iTunes was importing the M3U playlist, then the MP3s...that's how I was getting my dups.

  • Length of song when importing

I have had a problem with the song length when importing songs from a burned CD. iTunes will delete the end of the song, sometimes up to 10 seconds. This is a problem. I have searched on the site for help, but I haven't found anything helpful. Does anyone know what I can do?

It sounds like the same issue in the forum I started called "iTunes 7.6.1.9 import - last track on CD cuts 6 seconds short" On my system it is only affecting the LAST TRACK of each CD that I import.
If it only started in 7.6.1 update, then it's a bug and no solution yet (see the forum). There is apparently a workaround that was suggested to import to AIFF (which is OK!) and then convert to MP3or AAC or whatever....
Also, someone noted it's worse on fast drives, and apparently OK if you have access to really slow drives (like a 6x for example). So if you have an older drive on your system it might work better (but slower)
PLEASE report the bug so they fix it ASAP. Launch itunes ---> Help ---> provide iTunes feedbak ---> let 'em have it!
This is a pretty major bug. I'll have to re-rip several CDs and have had to stop importing until they fix it.
If it's only on CD-Rs and on different tracks, then it's a new issue, but I'd still be curious to know if it started with 7.6.1.9

  • ITunes skips songs, when import to iPhone all songs are 2:34 length (they aren't)

So my iTunes and iPhone are completely FUBAR and I can't find any solution.
I have an iPhone 4s on version 7.0.4. I am currently using iTunes 11.2.1. Late 2011 Macbook Pro running 10.8.5, whichever cat that is.
Starting in December 2013, most new songs I import into iTunes will skip at random points in the song to the end of the song. There was no pattern as far as I could tell, though it didn't seem to be happening with music bought from iTunes. Music from CDs, bandcamp, etc. was the problem. For example, a song with a length of 5:55 would randomly skip to the end at 3:46. But, if I manually skipped to any point after 3:46 it would play the normally skipped part fine. This was not a huge problem as I could then import the songs to my iPhone and listen on there with no skipping.
In the past few weeks though, now every song I import to my iPhone cuts off at 2:34. Every single song. They skip in iTunes at a random point, then I import them to my phone where they skip at 2:34 (and are labelled as only 2:34 long), and then after being imported to my iPhone they skip at 2:34 in iTunes as well.
Last night, for absolutely no reason, about 80% of my music disappeared from my phone. It's still there, but can't be played for some reason. So I tryed syncing to my computer, but lo and behold, every song on my iPhone is now 2:34.
Please help, I'm very close to burning all of my devices in a fire and starting over.

I also have this problem, but on my 64-bit Windows 7 desktop. My income level no longer permits me to purchase Apple computers. Anything that I've bought off of the iTunes store, most of it's ten to six years old, will not play any further than 2:34. I just knew when I agreed to this "protected music" business I'd find myself a decade down the line staring at an expensive but unplayable music collection.

  • Double Songs when importing

  • Can I change default crop options when importing PDFs?

When importing PDFs into Photoshop CS3, the default cropping is Bounding Box. I change the popup to Media Box, but it reverts when I quit Photoshop. Is there a way to make Media Box the default?

I tried it and a Scripted opening of a pdf doesn’t seem to have any bearing on the dialog’s settings.
If You open with the same settings usually it might be possible to create a Script that opens pdfs with those settings right away – one would have to trade the comparative convenience of dragging the pdf on the psd-symbol and hitting OK for an open-dialog though, I guess.

  • Truncated songs when imported from a CD

I'm having a problem when importing CDs into iTunes - Very often the first and sometimes second track are truncated to about 30 secs. The rest of the CD seems to import OK.... Any ideas what the problem could be ?

That is a bug and it has reported here quite a few times. Often it will affect only the last track of the CD.
A workaround is to import that track in WAV format, and after you have verified that the track is complete, use iTunes to convert it to MP3/AAC.

  • Checked and unchecked exceptions - when to use which ?

    Hi,
    Example:
    public void go(String[] args) {
       if(args.length==0)
throw new //   <= what type of an exception should come here ?
}Is there a good explanation when to use which one ? I know that generally
unchecked exception are the exceptions associated with errors in the logic
of your applications and checked are those which you can not determine
    (like files, networks problems ....).
    Thanks,
    Adrian

There is no, "I think it is better to us a type-XXX exception here because of conditions 1, 2, and 3" scenario.
Checked exceptions are of type java.lang.Exception and must be handled in one of two ways- try/catch constructs or having the method state it throws the checked exception.
Unchecked exceptions are of type java.lang.Error or java.lang.RuntimeException. If the problem is an Error, something very bad has occurred like running out of memory. If it is a RuntimeError, then it probably came from a program bug. In both cases, there is no way for you to know when they will arise. Therefore the compiler does not force you to handle these unusual circumstances.
If you think of piece of code may throw an error like an I/O operation, and you do not have code to handle that possibility, the compiler will let you know. After you have been programming long enough, you'll begin to know when you need try/catch constructs without Mr. Compiler yelling at you. ;-)
