Can't choose certificate for computer identification in VPN settings

When I click on the "Choose" button in the dialog for computer identification in VPN settings, nothing happens. Is there any way to configure the certificate manually on the Terminal until this bug is fixed?

Same thing here. This seems like a huge-gaping-hole type bug but I can't find anything about it doing any kind of searching
I've managed to get the machine certificate to "stick" by the following:
1. Select Shared Secret and enter some random text.
2. Click OK and click Apply.
3. Now go to the auth settings again and set the machine cert.
4. Click OK and Apply.
Setting should stick now.
No luck with the User certificate though
I've been able to track down the preference change to this file:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
In this file, supposing you use password authentication, there are entries as such:
<key>AuthPassword</key>
<string>6247164D-49F3-49A2-A933-0D95B5400A33</string>
<key>AuthPasswordEncryption</key>
<string>Keychain</string>
Now if you use a certificate, there is only the following:
<key>AuthProtocol</key>
<array>
<string>EAP</string>

As you can see from here, nothing gets saved about the user certificate... grr!
Is there anyone who successfully used the OS X VPN this way?

Like others have said the other people may be using mobile data as opposed to wi-fi. If you're not shy you could ask one or more of those people if they're connecting to wi-fi or mobile data. You could also ask subway employees if there is free wi-fi. If there is they may be able to tell you more about it (ex: if its open, or if there is a password). You could also install an app like wi-fi analyzer that shows you all the networks your phone detects in range, whether they are open or not, and what their signal strength is so you know what connection options you have.

Update Secure Certificate for Mail (Identification and Encryption)

I have several email addresses; all of which have valid secure certificates (stored by default automatically in Key Chain).
Whereas previously the certificates did not feature my name, new ones have been issued which do.
So... my question is as follows:
How do I point Mail to use the new certificates that have my name engrained within, opposed to the older ones which do not?

Hi ... I have been struggling with exactly this point, too. Try out the new Leopard feature called "New preferred Identity". For this open keychain, go to my certificates and control-click on each certificate individually as choose "new preferred identity". Here you can type the e-mail address and choose one of your certificates to be used "preferably". This is the official Apple way of doing it and you may read further information in the support section. Please let me know if it works with you!
In any case, it hasn't worked for me. I had to delete all old certificates for the same e-mail address and keep only the most recent one with my real-life name in it (you can delete right in keychain). After restart mail.app only uses the new certificate for signing e-mails.
You would expect that deleting the old certificate destroys your ability to read the older encrypted e-mails. But the good news is that everytime you open an e-mail with your old certificate mail.app will add the old certificate back to keychain and you can again read your encrypted e-mails which used the 'public' key from the old certificate. Although mail.app will add the old certificates again it will continue to use the new certificate. I call this a work-around because really the "new identity preference" should have worked.

Can't create Certificate for AIR file

I am using Fireworks CS4 on mac OSX 10.5.7. I have created a prototype interface and am trying to create an AIR file of it to test. I cannot get Fireworks to create a self-signed digital certificate. Before I applied the FW update to take it to 10.0.3 FW just did nothing but popped up a message saying the certificate file could not be found. After updating to 10.0.3 I get an error message saying certificate creation failed. All posts on the net for windows computers with this problem point to the Java Run-time environment, but the update of this is handled by Apples software updates.
Anyone have any ideas, its getting very frustrating.

I am assuming that you have installed the updates for the mac including the version available automatically from Mac software updates. You can create a certificate manually from the AIR panel from within Fireworks itself.

Can´t choose certificate when defining VPN connection

Client is Macbook Pro running SL 10.6.4
VPN gateway is Cisco
Users are authenticated using username, password and a digital certificate. The certificate, both root and user, is created on a Windows server (using Microsoft Certificate Services). Root and user certificate is imported into the keychain on the Macbook. But when I try to select, in System Preferences, I am not able to choose my own user certificate. It looks like it only support Machine Authentication (and needs a Machine Certificate ??).
Has anybody ever created a VPN setup on a Mac, towards a Cisco VPN gateway, using username+password and certificate ? Where must I store the certificate to make OSX us it when defining a Cisco VPN connection ?

Can't choose folder for screen saver

Hi, I just updated to the newest intel security download and now I cannot choose a folder when changing my screen saver. I can choose a folder for desktop background but the option for screen saver is not there anymore. Does anyone know what happened or how to get that option back? Thanks.

I find that sometimes I lose the option to choose a folder for the screensaver, without any warning. How are you accessing this control panel? If you do it by right-clicking (or the equivalent; I have a 2-button mouse) on the desktop, try accessing it instead through "System Preferences" on your Dock. It's dumb, but it seems to work for me. Good luck.

How can I accept certificates for using QuickTime as player in web pages ?

I want to use QuickTime embedded in web-pages as a player for my content.
When I provide a link that is under a certificate, the player (web page that hat this embedded) won't ask for approval of the certificate.
This will make the player un-usable, as it won't be displayed in the page.
How can I see if the content can be played and ask the user to open a new page, approve the certificate and the come back to the parent page and play the media.

Well I am actually using a template. And the flash video that
was created is way beyond my ability. So I tried initially to
separate the two, the intro video, and the navigation. But they are
intertwined in a way that I do not understand. I do need to do the
variable thing. I took a flash class in school, and my book does
not touch anywhere close to this. I know its probably too
complicated to explain through a forum, but can you recommend any
resources online or books that would go more in depth with this
sort if thing. If I can just see the way it works on another site,
I know that I can do on mine.

Can't choose songs for download

For the last month, I have been unable to choose my songs for download from iTunes Mac to iPhone 4S. There are no songs visible under iTunes Music section.
I use iTunes 10 on OS Lion. any help please.

Well, i personally don't believe that a "do not disconnec" sign should be on the iPod for hours. And when I used iTunes, it took about a minute before it gave me the green flag, so I have to disagree.

Can't choose destination for downloads in firefox preferences; nothing downloads.

iMac OSX 10.6.8
Whenever I try to download an app, although a window appears to save 'binary file' nothing downloads. The Firefox preferences doesn't give the option of choosing a location to save downloaded files, even when clicking 'browse.'

Upgrade to firefox 8 seems to have fixed the download problem

I cannot find a clear information (step-by-step) how to exchange the certificates with the Partner company for TLS mutual communication in Exchange 2013.
