Can't close multiple open documents

I have Lion, and all the iWork updates.
Try as I might I cannout seem to get Pages to STOP opening the last 10 documents I was working on.
I have tried the System Preferences for Mission Control and rebooted and UNselecting "open with windows" or whatever it is.
When I have Pages open I can see these documents when I click on the Pages icon in the doc, I can even open them that way. However, if I open just a blank document and look at the Window menu I do not see these documents.
Also, if I open one and click on the red close button or issue Command-W it will close but still be visible when I use Mission Control. This is driving me crazy. I would like ALL documents closed and only open the ones I want.
Can anyone please help?

I used ACR and CS5 to process my Nikon D3 NEF files. I would like a script that would save all open documents (witin PS) with the highest possible quality (12). I've found several scripts that will close all open documents with save but cannot figure out how to implement a save script.
For example, I may have 20 converted .jpeg files open. I would like to run a script to save & close all open documents.
Is it possible? Can someone post an example working script?

Go to VOV7, select your item category. In this maintain K for Billing Relevance
Now go to VF01, give the delivery number and do not press Enter. Instead click on Selection list on the next screen, select the items you want to bill and click copy and continue if necessary

What program can I use to open documents with; if I am running OSX 10.6.8 and only have Text edit?

What kind documents of documents do you want to open? Just to read or write too?
Besides TextEdit, you also have Preview that can display a wide gamut of document types as well.
As for office documents, may want to download and install LibreOffice to deal with the usual suspects: .doc, .xls, .ppt http://www.libreoffice.org/

Alt+F4 in Windows only closes the active program.
Command+Q does the same thing for Mac. Just keep hitting that key combo untill all are closed.

Can I add multiple linked documents to an existing project without breaking the project?
The project I'm working on is due to go live in just a little over a month. I've recently acquired some training materials that contain information that needs to be merged into the help file. The problem is that there is not enough time to do it, get it reviewed, and so on.
So I had this idea of linking to the Word docs (there are 3) for now, then cleaning things up as we go along.
Is that a stupid idea this late in the game?
Would it be better to create a separate help file with just those docs and then merge the projects into a master project?
I am using RoboHelp 9 and Word 2010.

I don't think the idea in itself is silly but I think there might be a nicer solution.
Link the documents to a new project. How is described on my site. Alternatively import them.
Once you have got the topics looking how you want, then import them into your main project. You then have the topics ready to edit later on but for now they can go as they are.
Backup your main project before you start the import so that you can backtrack if you want to.
The TOC will not come in automatically this way but you'll likely want to add the new stuff manually anyway. Alternatively you can import the TOC and then append it.

Multiple Open Document woes

I've been experiencing odd behavior in Motion 2.
When i have multiple projects open simultaneously, the program seems to get confused and often will continue to edit a project other than the foreground one.
For example, i'll have two projects open and i'll switch to the background one using Window>(Whatever the project name is). All the open bins will update to indicate the switch...Media, Layers, Timeline and of course the Canvas.
When i attempt to make an edit to the foreground timeline using keyboard shortcuts, ie. adjusting the in point of the currently selected layer, the change will actually occur on the background project. All of the keyboard shortcuts from that point forward will affect the background project. Switching back to the originally foreground project and bringing the backround project front again does not help.
Worse, if i close the originally foreground project, leaving only the background project open, and attempt to make adjustments, such as to delete a selected layer, Motion will crash and quit.
Additionally, i get odd hangs and crashes frequently. For example, every time i bring the Motion application to the foreground, the program stalls, being unresponsive and displaying the beachball cursor for about 10-20 seconds. I usually have the external video feature routed through my FireWire camcorder, but switching off the External Video preference does not help. This KILLS my workflow.
I've also had various peculiarities, such as keyframes attached to a Layer shifting inexplicably when i shift an elemented nested within that Layer along the timeline. They will not shift in relation to the movement of the sub-layer, but will snap either earlier or later in the timeline, sometimes moving before 0:00:00;00 or offscreen to the right (and past the duration of the Project).
Additionally, my performance is much slower than i would have expected of the Quad with the 7800 and 4.5GB RAM. I don't have quantative results to compare, but simple projects with some text / drop shadows have crawled to 4-5 fps.
My computer is well within the specs demanded by the application. I've installed cleanly with Final Cut Studio 5 Upgrade (using a Final Cut 2 serial number, but FCP 2 was never installed on this system).
The question is really about the multiple open projects issue, but wanted to rant for a moment. I'm really trying to use Motion, but this performance is not helpful.
Any others users experienceing similar behavior? Any Apple gurus want to troubleshoot / provide me with a workaround?

there is one behavior that i can repeat, and maybe you can try to replicate this behavior:
-open two Motion projects.
-close the first opened project.
-attempt to delete a layer in the remaining open project.
-my system will hesitate for a moment, then Motion will quit abruptly.

Can I covert multiple Word Documents into a single PDF using Acrobat Pro

I'm using Acrobat Pro X version 10.1.10...I'm trying to select multiple Word Document files (Mac Version 14.4.3) but when choosing the files, Word Documents I cannot select them as a convertible file format. If I drag them into the conversion box it says they are not a recognised file format....any ideas?

Can you open any WORD file in Acrobat? If not, it is likely a limitation of Acrobat on the MAC. On the PC, you can simply use the Combine option in the file menu to create a new PDF. The conversion of the WORD document uses the PDF Maker option installed in WORD that must work, but this is the same process as opening a DOC or DOCX file directly in Acrobat. There are limitation with the compatibility of various versions of OFFICE and Acrobat that could be another issue you are having, but I don't know the combinations for a MAC. This only gives you some thoughts to consider. Some of the MAC users may be by later to give further thoughts.
The alternative is to create a PDF for each of the WORD files and then use the combine feature to combine the PDFs.

What would be the code in the following Javascript, to close the pdf document? I'm trying to open a document (which I can do), read from it, then close it (which I haven't been able to do). Is it possible to open the document, keeping it hidden, read from it and then close it?

How can I close all open subVI front panels, without closing my top level VI front panel when all VIs are built into executables?

I'm using the code shown in the sample VI discussed here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/353A696A3F393D9B86256E8B007A2912
to close all open VIs except my top level VI. My top level VI is actually a separate executable and the sub-VIs are their own executables. All reside under the same project. It works very well if I'm running in LabView but will not work when I build them. I added all the sub-VIs to the Always Include box in my top level VIs properties which did nothing. I also tried adding them to the Startup VIs box. This allowed me to close them all programmatically from the top level VI but it also open all the VIs at once (which was expected and not desired). I think the problem is the executables are not able to see outside their own memory space so the top-level VI never finds any other open front panels to close. Is this correct? Is there another way to go about doing this?

Where do I begin…..
I’m using a “server” to control 4 “client” PCs. My server opens references to 4 VIs on each client then executes them sequentially. So on a normal day, the server will run everything itself and I will have no contact with the clients. But on a several occasions, I’ve needed the ability to walk up to one of the clients and run just one of the 4 VIs.
We are updating from LabView 6.1 to 8.5 and we want to run executables rather than VIs for various reasons. I have a new VI running on the client PCs who’s only function is to initialize the shared variables and open/close the VIs. I initially thought of making the remaining 4 VIs sub-VIs but I will loose the ability to run them individually. I think I would also have to rewrite the VI running on the server since the 4 references it originally opened do not exist. I don’t think you can open a reference to a sub-VI on another PC. Can you???
As you can see, this is a huge mess. I’m still pretty new with LabView so any help you can provide would be great.

The opening time of a PDF depends a lot on its internal structure.
Very complex forms are also known for long opening times.
Try clearing the Temporary files on your Windows and it will speed up your system to some extent.
Another thing you can do is,you would have to turn off any software that is running either in your Task Bar or shut them down in Task Manager.
