Can't close open apps.
I hit the "Home" button twice. With the first hit I got a "Search" keyboard (don't know if that's normal), with the second hit the app icons reappeared. When I held down the Mail icon all the icons wiggled, but even though several were open no minus signs appeared. My inbox is stuck on June 24th -- can anyone tell me how to kick-start this mess? Thank you.
Press back until you exit the app, if you press the virtual key on the right it should show you the apps that you have been using > swipe from left to right or right to left to close them

After upgrading ipad to iOS 7.1 I can no longer close open apps by double clicking home button. Any ideas
Double-tap on the Home button. You will see a preview of the app above the actual icon. Slide the preview up to kill it.

HT201365 How do I close open apps to save my battery with the ios7
How do i close open apps to save my battery using ios7
Double click the home button to bring up the multitask bar, hold one app icon until they all start to shake, hit the little minus icon to close the app. Click on the home button to get back to the home screen again.
In most of the cases deleting the mail account and setting it up again can cure the battery drain. There have been cases in which the mail app got stuck trying to connect to the server over and over again, causing the drain. -

Cannot not close open apps with double clicking the button Since downloading iOS8.
What happens when you try? Does double clicking the ?home button bring up the Task Bar of recently used apps? If so what happens when you flick up on the preview screen for the app you want to close?
To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. -

With the new update for iphone, how do I delete a photo and how do I close open apps. There used to be a delete button to delete a photo and I used to double click on the main phone button and then click on the x to close an app.
Wipe the drive using DiskUtility and download and reinstall Yosemite and set it up as a new Mac. Then purchase the Apps you require with your own Apple ID which you will enter when setting up the new Mac.

On my iPhone 4S, I can not close my apps.
I've tried this several times and nothing has happened. I double tap the home button, all open apps are there, I slide them up to close them and then I restart/reboot my iPhone. Once it starts again, I go into my phone and check to see if they have closed and alas, nothing is closed everything is there!
Is there anything else I can do to close my apps?
Thanks! Why are you restarting your device at all? Double-tapping the Home key and sliding up on the thumbnails should result in them closing. If you slide up on all of them, tap the Home key once again to go back to the normal Home screen, and then double-tap the Home key again, are you seeing any open apps?
