Can't combine files - Elements 11

Hi there -
I edited a bunch of audio files, all saving them as .PREL files on my hard drive. I'd now like to edit several of them into one compilation video, but I'm getting this error right when I start and try to add media: "This type of file is not supported, or the codec is not installed."
The file that's not supported is Adobe Premiere Elements Project. So essentially, it's not letting me add files that the program itself created.
Because of this, I can't go back and string the different clips together into the video I'm trying to create.
Am I missing something? How do I fix this? I'm under a time crunch.

Once all files are in that new format, are you saying I can add them all back into Elements 11 and stitch them together?

how exactly do I use it w/Elements 11 to create the compilation? Also, it looks like the ClipMate versions are labeled by windows version, not Elements version. Is there one that specifically works w/Windows 7 AND Elements 11?
See Rotation feature at Timeline level (more than one time) or at Applied Effects Tab level (more options).
is there a way I can use Elements 11 to flip a video? One got recorded upside down and I'm trying to salvage it, turning it 180 degrees.

1. About flip a video, you could use the Premiere Elements 11 rotation feature.
a. right click the clip on the Expert workspace Timeline, select either Rotate 90 Left or Rotate 90 Right.
or
b. select/highlight the Timeline clip, go to Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/Motion Panel and expand the Motion Panel to see a full Rotation feature in the Motion Panel expanded.
2. The details for using ClipMate are detailed in the How To Section of the link already given. Above that How To section are the results to be expect version by version.

The latest version of ClipMate will work with Premiere Elements 11 Windows...expected results specific for 11 are defined in the link.
3. If you do the transfer between project the alternative route, export from project 1 - import export to project 2
a. If you are transferring a video audio linked file, then set the export settings to match the properties of the project preset.....generalized example, if project 1 is set for NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30, set the Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD or MPEG or QuickTime or Windows Media) export settings for 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 interlaced frames per second with a bitrate comparable to your source for that project.....then import (Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets) that export into a project 2 which has a project preset of NTSC AVCHD Full HD 1080i30.
b. If you are transferring just an audio file between projects, then export the audio file from project 1 using Publish+Share/Computer/Audio with the preset of choice (AAC, AIFF, MP3, Windows Waveform). Then import (Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets) that export into project 2 with the wanted project preset.
Please let me know if you need specifics for the project and export settings. If you do, please give more information about your project 1 and the properties of your source media there.

I was using Acrobat 8 Standard for a while (mainly to combine files). Recently, my Microsoft updates automatically loaded Acrobat Reader XI and now I can't combine files anymore. Is upgrading to Acrobat XI Standard a free download? If not, do I just need to uninstall Acrobat XI reader? Help would be appreciated as I use the combine files feature frequently. Thank you.

I really don't get the feeling that it was Adobe Reader which broke the functionality. But if you think it was, you can uninstall it and see if that works. I would rather suggest repairing Acrobat 8 from Control Panel.

Can't combine files...

Why can't I combine excel and word doc's into pdf? Just downloaded the XI Acrobat to Windows 7 64bit system. The only way I can combine files is to make them PDF's first. This makes it more work. Thanks~

If you have Acrobat correctly installed on your system, then it is quite simple to combine them into a single PDF file.
You might need to right click on all the selected word & excel document icons and select 'Combine Files in Acrobat' from the context menu as shown below:

Adobe PDF Pack is an online subscription--it definitely allows you to combine several files into one PDF file. For more information about PDF Pack, see Reliably Create PDFs, Convert PDFs, & Merge PDFs Online | Adobe PDF Pack. If you don't have the full version of Acrobat, this is a great solution for combining PDF files.
However, if you're using Acrobat (not Adobe Reader), you combine files by following these steps:
Open a PDF file that you want to add pages to.
Click the Pages pane on the Tools panel (on the right side of the application).
Click Insert From File, and choose the file that you want to combine with the PDF that you opened in step 1.
Make any changes necessary in the Insert Pages dialog box--these settings determine where the new file will be inserted.
Click OK.

First, make sure you open Acrobat, and not Adobe Reader. It's a common mistake.
From Acrobat, use File | Create | Combine Files into a Single PDF:
On the next panel you can select the files you want to combine, rearrange them, etc., and finally click Combine.
P.S. your menu may look slightly different, as we may not be using the same Acrobat version.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated 12 to 12.1 Update using an opened project's Help Menu/Update?
If not, please do so.
Please clarify "Can't add files filmed in 1080/60i to Premiere Elements 12."
Are you importing the 1080 60i into the project using (Expert workspace) Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets?
If so, are you getting an error message inside of the video appearing in Project Assets?
Are you setting the project preset manually or letting the program do that task automatically?
What is the project preset?
(See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General).
The project preset should be, for your 1080i...
NTSC
AVCHD
Full HD1080i30
What is the project preset for the 1080p footage?

Since your camera appears to be producing AVCHD.mov files, do you have the latest version

Can't open files in Elements 6

I am a new mac user - switching from windows 3 weeks ago. Have Leopard installed on macbook pro and just bought Elements 6. I made Elements the default editor in Iphoto, however, can't open files in Elements nor in the Bridge that came with Elements. Also, the photos don't even show up in Bridge! Are they supposed to? I used Elements in Windows - had no trouble. Are Iphoto & Elements really compatible? What am I doing wrong?

The problem is your workflow. If you use iphoto, you don't use bridge, and you should never poke around in the iphoto library from any program except iphoto, since that's a fast road to corrupting the library, which is as delicate as a gardenia about being touched by anything but iphoto.
You have two choices:
1. Set PSE as your external editor from iphoto in the iphoto preferences, then send your photos directly from iphoto to PSE. If you do that, Save, not Save As, without making any changes to the name or format of your photo and iphoto will keep one version + original for you. If you save another group of edits, it will replace the previous version.
2. Export the photos from iphoto to your desktop or somewhere and then use File>Open in PSE, save the photos under new names and reimport them to iphoto as new files.
If you prefer to use Bridge, then don't use iphoto. Trying to use both is a shortcut to madness.

I think you may have read that the wrong way round. The question is whether or not a PRE9 file can be opened in PRE7, not can a PRE7 file open in PRE9.
So RacheySC92 the answer is No - you cannot open a '9' project in '7'. You may open a '7' project in '9' but it is not at all recommended and could go bad on you at any time.

The Canon S100 wasn't supported until version 6.6 of camera raw and that isn't supported by pse 8.
You options are to either upgrade to pse version 10 or use the DNG converter

Why can't I, or how can I, update Photoshop Elements 11 to open D7100 RAW files?

I purchased Elements 11 via the App Store, and cannot find a way to update the software so that the newest version of ACR (7.4) will work with it.
Some places seem to say that if I puchased through the App Store then I can only update the programme when Apple releases an official update! Is this seriously the case, so although Adobe have released a new version of ACR to allow users who purchased elsewhere to update the software, App Store users cannot?!
If this, ludicrously, is the case is there any information on when this update will occur? The D7100 has been out for over two months now.
I contacted Adobe and they said I have to speak to Apple as I purchased through them, and that they cannot help. However, the only support button I can find relating to Elements 11 on the App Store directs me to the Adobe pages! Rather frustrating.
Is there any other way that I can contact someone at Apple for some support on this?
(The D5100 I used to have worked fine, so it is definitely the case that it is the newer files compatibility that is causing the issue)

Apple waits for Adobe to provide updates to them (just because Adobe has made the update available as a direct download does not mean they provided the update to Apple at the same time). Then everything in the App store is vetted before it gets updated. It takes time, so there is always a lag between the Adobe version and the App store version.
