Can't complete updates because of Adobe Application Manager

Adobe Application Manager refuses to complete updates for CS5.5 Production Premium and gives window that says "Close Adobe Bridge CS5.1(Bridge.exe) and I've follow all instructions in Bridge Help where others talk about same problem. Nothing they suggest works. The Problem is still there, refusing to allow me to "Continue" with my downloaded updates. This is apparently a long term problem that Adobe should have fixed with a patch etc. A simple "Close Application" under File in Bridge should do the trick. Can anyone give me a proven solution that will work? Thanks.

  • How do I open the updates window in "Adobe Application Manager"?

How do I open the updates window in "Adobe Application Manager"? Or can I or should I....??
I am a brand new Cloud member.  I heard of the Retina update.  Assuming this was where the updates would logically appear I went to the "Adobe Application Manager" app first.  Without closing the "Adobe Application Manager" I opened Photoshop and went to the help menu and selected "Updates..."; a second window opened in the already open "Adobe Application Manager".
    I selected update all.
    The result is below:

Now, I closed the "Adobe Application Manager" and opened "Photoshop" again and again selected "Updates..." from the help menu.  The "Adobe Application Manager" opened again with just one window this time and the updates happened correctly.
I was hoping one of the updates would be to the "Adobe Application Manager", I don't think so.
So, If I were you I wouldn't select "Updates..." from an Adobe app unless the "Adobe Application Manager" is closed until they fix it...
Current version: Adobe® Application Manager - Version 7.0.0.128 (7.0.0.128) Note the Two windows in the "Adobe Application Manager" in the attached image.

The updates are currently available by going to Help>Updates within the Application.  Once you invoke the Updater, which is a component of the Adobe Application Manager, it will locate and apply the updates.  It looks like most of your updates have failed to install.  I would recommend you begin by trying to apply the updates that are available on our product update page at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ and seeing if you face the same difficulty.
If you continue to experience problems with applying the updates then please review your installation log to determine the cause of the failure.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.

  • Photoshop and Illustrator updates fail using Adobe Application Manager, why and what can I do?

In the Adobe Application Manager, it says there are updates for both Photoshop and Illustrator. When I click to update, they both downloaded and attempted to install and in the middle of this process, Application Manager shows that the updates fail. After this, upon restart of my Mac–running Lion–Illustrator shows that it's up to date in the Application Manager and Photoshop shows an update is available. Upon trying to re-update Photoshop again, the update fails again and again.
I have updated before a few days ago with no problem, so I don't understand why the updates are failing and why after doing so, now Illustrator shows that it is up to date and Photoshop does not.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, does anyone know why and what I can do about it?
    Thank you.

    Hi Richei Creative,
    These would be my suggestions:
Create a new user account with administrative rights, log out of your current account and into that one, launch Adobe Application Manager and attempt the Photoshop update again.
Instructions if you need them  - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11468
If this fails, uninstall Photoshop (Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers) and reinstall Photoshop then from Adobe Application Manager the attempt the Photoshop update again, also from the newly created user account.
    Hope these help,
    -Dave

I have CS 6 installed on my Windows PC (Windows 7). It worked for a long time. Now I cannot update the Programm. At first I get the message "update failed, please download a new Version of the Adobe Application Manager". When I did it and tryed to install the application Manager, I got a new message: "Installer could not be initialized. Please download the Adobe support advisor to identifie your Problem." But the Support Advisor has been closed by Adobe and I cannot download the program. What can I do now? (please sorry for my bad english).

Thank you very much. That helped me and I can update my CS 6 again.

  • Yosemite Update now opens Adobe Application Manager

The most recent update to my iMac now has the application manager opening at the startup and will not close or get out of my dock.
Can anyone tell me how to shift it from the dock as right clicking only gives me the opportunity to "Keep in the dock"? It won't close at all either
    Many thanks in advance

Phill it may be that the Adobe Application Manager is attempting to update your applications?  The behavior you described is not typical.  I would recommend running all available uninstallers located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  Once your existing installations are removed you can see if you experience the same behavior.
For additional information on how to install/uninstall the Adobe Creative applications included with your membership please see Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.

  • Why wont my free trial download complete after 99% in adobe application manager?

It will download to 99% and stop. If I cancel there will be a yellow message installation failure, which states, administrative privileges required. How can this be if i am using the administrative account on my computer?

Nobody can know. You are not offering system information. And just logging on as administrator doesn't necessarily give you access to all folders, especialyl if they have been created by other users/ under different accounts with restricted security settings.

Okay, I get the following screen every time I try to apply updates.
I can't find any reference to Adobe Applications Manager anywhere, so I can't stop any of the instances from running.

Anyone know how to fix this?

  • Adobe application manager not working properly

First, If I'm in the wrong forum, please let me know and I'll re-create this entry in a better location.
I've been a user of Elements 10 since it came out but now with my new camera I would like to try Elements 13.  It was a struggle, but I finally was able to install the trial package but I can not launch elements 13 because the Adobe Application Manager refuses to connect and authenticate.
I went through this thread for help:  https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1098435
and it lead me to some additional information below.
And followed these steps under troubleshooting connection issues found here:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html
All of them worked just fine indicating that in theory, I should have NO problems connecting to Adobe.  However, that is not the case and I can not access the site that allows me to try or use the software....  The software manager just sits and spins its wheels so to speak.
Now, the funny thing, if I type in the WRONG password for my adobe ID, the application manager software immediately comes back and says that I've entered the wrong information.  That tells me the application manager is connecting to where it should.  As a last resort, I have even tried turning off my firewall and still no luck.  Is there anything else I can try?  There would be NO point in buying the software since I would still be stuck not being able to use it. Or anyother Adobe software for that fact.
    Cheers
    David

    Jeff,
    First of all, Merry Christmas.
Now, an update.  Elements / Photoshop 13 installed just fine on the my Mini Mac.    My PC has been running since day one (four or fives years now without a complete re-do.) and this seemed as good as time as any to install a factory fresh copy of Windows 7. Who knows how many programs etc.. have been installed / uninstalled etc.. over the past several years and now its complete. Mostly...   Fresh Windows install, All updates installed, latest video drivers drivers and anti-virus installed, google Chrome installed.  I had no issues installing Adobe Photoshop Elements after that.  Again, I have to say its very sad it comes to this extreme measure, but I really and truly do appreciate you taking the time to help me with this issue.
    Cheers

  • Keep getting "Download Error" when using Adobe Application Manager. Have tried from different areas.

I'm trying to update my CC Illustrator, as there is an issue that has apparently been resolved with a new update.
Whenever I try to update Illustrator, or even download a new application, I get an error window "Download Error.  Try again or contact customer support."
I have tried to download both directly from Adobe Application Manager and from the Creative Cloud website itself.  I have restarted my computer.   This has been happening for 2 days now.  Just can't seem to connect with Adobe Application Manager.
At one  point I got a window message that said to check the Adobe Site Status, and all looked green and fine there.
And this forum appears to be the only "customer support" ???!  I don't see any chat help or phone help.  Is that true?
I can go back to CS4 Illustrator to get the feature that I need (zoom in/out using magic mouse+Option, which is my favorite and essential Illustrator shortcut) but obviously will need to update and download more CC features and programs in the near future.
Thank you for anyone who can help me.

  • I am trying to download photoshop trial but it keeps saying Adobe Application Manager quite unexpectantly... how do i get past this?

Please help!  I am on a MAC and I can't get past it saying Adobe Application Manager quite unexpectantly.  It gives me the options of "OK", "Re-open" or "Quit".  I have tried all of them and they all get me no where!

    Please refer to :

InDesign trial download - Adobe Applications manager keeps quitting unexpectedly.
You can download directly if using a different browser also fails.if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here: http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cc-direct-download-links.html and activate with your serial number. if you have a problem downloading, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies. The most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com), failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com.

  • Cannot install Adobe Application Manager

When I install this, I first get an error saying another instance is already running.  The installation then proceeds and goes through the motions installation but at the then, I get an error saying "Adobe Application Manager failed to install".  I've combed through my Windows Task Manager for things like "PDApp.exe" and "setup.exe" but I couldn't find any.  I have a bazillion processes running and I don't have time to go through each one trying to figure out which is the right one.  How do I install the Application Manager?  It seems like all the CC apps needs the updated version of Adobe Application Manager in order to install.

Problem resolved.  I called the 800 # and spoke with a technical support person in India.  The steps to resolve were to rename the directory paths (2 of them) that pointed to the old Adobe Application Manager, then download the Adobe Cleaner Tool and use it to remove the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App.  I logged off and then logged back in and re-downloaded the Creative Cloud Application manager and I was able to download (finally) Photoshop CC.
The old Adobe Application Manager came with my CS6 installation.  It was probably running but it did not show up in the Windows Task Manager as either an application, process, or service.  It also could be be uninstalled through Control Panels without having to remove CS6 altogether.
