Can't configure gmail on iPhone 4S
Hi,
I have been using iPhone 4S since 3 months by now. Since then I have been facing the same problem while syncronizing my gmail account with the iPhone device.
The exact error message says :
Even after I checked the gmail account has IMAP and POP status are 'Enabled". Suggest me a way out to this problem. It's occuring much trouble to me.

My mother has this exact issue except with a Comcast email. Can you go in to the other options like the "OUTGOING MAIL SERVER" And also in the advanced section and tell me (or screen shot) what options are entered in there? I have gmail on my iPhone now, and it works flawlessy, so I can help you with anything that you may have entered wrong.
Also, I would update to iOS 7 if you want to, it's a welcomed change and I love it. But I understand some people don't want to be troubled with having to learn that many new things.

If the short version doesn't work you may need to configure the security on your Gmail account. I could not sync my new iphone 4s with my gmail account until i did the following:
You have to enable imap first (under settings in gmail.)
Then, click on Account, choose Security , then choose Authorize Applications and Sites. It will give you a one time use only password to enter into the iphone.
Also, while you are in Security, set up 2-step verification so your gmail can't get hacked. It texts a new code to your cell to verify you are logging in. -
Out of nowhere I can only receive gmail on iPhone, cannot send?!?
Out of nowhere my iPhone stopped sending email from my work gmail account. My personal account works fine. The error message I get says the password is wrong - but I know it's not because I can log on via the web and send email from there.
I have tried deleting the account and reconfiguring with no success. It's just odd that it stopped working randomly one day. My coworkers who have the exact same email setup are not having any problems.

hello. I can not configure my major mail account at Mac Mфail - other accounts such as Hotmail and Gmail are working great. Also, I am using that major account at iPhone and iPad with no problem. I had contacted mail provider - we had followed step by step all the settings,, they are correct, and I was suggested to use another mail program. Why, for God's sake I should use different programs for different mail accounts? Anyone, had the same problem?

Yes, I have the same problem only with one sender. Not sure why it is happening, very fustrating, and sure would love to know the solution. I have been trying to resolve this for a few weeks now.
the sender told me they just switched providers to Time Warner Road Runner (carolina.rr.com)
Emails from this sender always come in to me as:
"This message can not be displayed because of the way it is formatted. Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program. message/rfc822 -
cannot send or receive yahoo mail or gmail from iPhone . installed ios 6 recently. tried rebooting the phone and deleting the email account and adding again but nothing works ! can someone suggest a solution?
Not sure about yahoo, but for gmail, I done the following:
Set up using Exchange on iPhone, it'll keep prompting for password. On PC use captcha option, log in to gmail account from PC after completingg captcha option, enter password on iPhone.
See how that goes for gmail, let us know.
Hopefully someone will have fix for yahoo. -

i downloaded the GV app to my iphone but i'm trying to set up the app and it says it can't connect to google when i try to sign in to my google account.... any ideas what's wrong? i can access my gmail account just fine with my gmail app on the same phone

gmail on iphone was working fine until yesterday when it prompted me with the message "cannot get mail user name or password for gmail is incorrect", i have tried deleting the account and re-created a new account, same problem, can anyone help?

as of today I can't access Gmail via Apple Mail anymore. Last night I updated on Macbook Pro and ipad, and both don't allow me to access gmail anymore. Gmail still works on my iphone, I guess, because I didn't update that one.
Can anybody tell me what happended and how to fix it?

if wouldn't hurt to delete the account entirely and just re-set it up in preferences. -
Hacking of e-mail account (yahoo and gmail) while both are configured to my iPhone?
Yesterday the 8th of October, 2012 at about 2.45 pm IST (Indian Standard Time) both my e-mail accounts which are configured to the iPhone were hacked. The hacker not only sent some ridiculous mail from the account asking my contacts to send money through Western Union Money Transfer, but deleted my last 3 months sent mails, inbox and the entire contacts.
They also added a new mail to my alternative mails. Upon approaching the cyber crime department it was given to understand that these criminals had used a IP address from Nigeria, Africa.Shiv1611 wrote:

That depends on what you mean. If you mean two iTunes Store accounts, no. Only one Apple ID can be logged into the iTunes Store at a time and if automatic download, iTunes Match or re-downloading of content is used the ID can not be changed for 90 days.

If you previously had been using the same Apple ID for iTunes Store purchases for both of you there is no reason to change what you've been doing. If this is your wife's first iPhone, and you want to share the iTunes Store account just don't use the new Apple ID you created. As long as there are no purchases on it there's nothing to worry about. -
I cannot get yahoomail through the email icon on my iPad since this morning. Gmail works and yahoomail works on iphone and if I go through safari and yahoo, works ok on iPad. I changed password, deleted account and restarted account, turned iPad on and off and still no mail
My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.

The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.
