Can't connect after changing BI Publisher Administrator password

I have a single machine instance of OBIEE 10.1.3 on Windows. All elements have been working fine and I have been able to successfully sign on to:
1) BI Publisher
2) Dashboards/Answers
3) BI Administrator
However, today I decided to change my 'Administrator' password in BI Publisher for good order's sake. And now after making that change I get an error reading:
{color:#0000ff}*'The server can not be used due to a configuration error, please contact the administrator. If you are the administrator, please consult BI Publisher user guide for proper configuration'*{color}
With 'error detail' reading: oracle.apps.xdo.security.ValidateException
Using the old BI Publisher password also returns an error (invalid user/password). I also stopped and started OC4J service all Oracle BI products. My BI Administrator signon still works fine.
I've read several posts about failed connections like this and ran across one that implied that characters in the new password such as *, #, $ will create problems. Unfortunately my new password does contain some of these characters {:>0 and I suspect this may be the issue My question: What is the least complicated way to back out of this situation and simply restore my sign on? I'm totally focused on data architecture and reports on this single user system right now. Thanks

Madan,
Thanks for your help.
The password in xmlp-server-config.xml is encrypted. It looks (similar) to this:
<property name="BI_SERVER_SECURITY_ADMIN_PASSWORD_ENC" value="C14CD2495C033BB8E816E10BCDC25372" />
<property name="BI_SERVER_SECURITY_ADMIN_USERNAME" value="Administrator" />
I tried changing the encrypted password to my password but got a java sign on error.
I then modified the last block in CredentialStore.xml and restarted the BI Server and OC4J but I still get the 'oracle.apps.xdo.Security.ValidateException' error when signing on to BI Publisher. Here's the entry with the (dummy) password which
I tried with the first change above and without the first change above.

  • Safari can't connect after latest Lion update

Just updated my software and now safari can't connect to websites. It connects for a bit then after awhile it will no longer connect. Firefox and Chrome are connecting fine so this is a safari only issue with the latest update.
    Safari Version 5.1.5 (7534.55.3)
Quiting safari and restarting works for a little while then eventually 'can't connect to server' eventually appears. I'm going back to firefox until this is resolved.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
Hi I have the same sort of problems I carried out the two tests and the problem appears to only be in my profile not in guest profile. Is there a cure?

  • Report Builder Can't Connect after IP Change

I can write the queries that I need to but continually run into issues with SRS and its Report Builder
Someone moved the report server onto another LAN and it has a new IP.  All the reports can still connect to the data source and so work just fine.
When I launch Report Builder 2 from the Report Server/Report itself, it pops up that "connection failed" and follows up with "Unable to connect to the server that is specified in the URL"
Basically I need to configure it to point to itself I guess but that seems to not be happening.  The changes were already in the report manager when I went to check them.  I have no idea how long it's been this way.
I've attached a pic to show the successful connection to report server, but bad from report builder.  Also the configuration of the report server.
I found posts related to proxy but that can't possibly help b/c the thing is looking for an IP that doesn't exist!  It's own has changed.

    Hi Kirkee,
According to your description, after someone moved the report server to another LAN and a new IP, all the reports can still connect to the data source and work fine. When you launch Report Builder 2 from report manager or report, you got the error message.
The error message "Connection failed. Unable to connect to the server specified URL <Report Server URL>" means we are not able to connect to the Report Server. We can follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Open the Web Services URL (known as Report Server URL) in the Internet Explorer (IE). Make sure it is able to open it.
Try to use IP to access the Report Server from the Report Builder.
Run the Report Builder under the domain account (Press key SHIFT and then right click the Report Builder, click 'Run as different user').
Check the Reporting Services error logs (by default, it can be found from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\<SQL Server Instance>\Reporting Services\LogFiles).
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,

  • Can't connect after password change

roommate claims we were hacked and he changed the password to a WEP but now i can't connect. it basically comes down to a "connection timeout" every time i try. i've changed and updated all the proper areas in network preferences and keychain access but nothing works. and even though the password is in keychain access and it asks me if it can allow its use, it will then still ask me for the password in window.
any ideas? i realize this is vague but not sure where to go from here. oh, and also the network wifi comes and goes even though i'm sitting next to the router. i tried another router and it's all the same complete with vanishing wifi so i'm assuming it's something with my computer. but then i also have a G4 desktop and it won't connect either.
i was using open DNS but have deleted that info in the preferences as in the past, that sometimes causes problems when connecting to new networks for the first time.
so could it still be a DNS issue or possible keychain access or something i'm not even thinking of?
(and dumb question, but does it matter in a WEP password if the letters are caps or not? tried it both ways but anything i can eliminate as a cause at this point would be great.)
    thanks very much

When someone maliciously accessed your network, he may have changed other AirPort settings too, so I would verify everything is as it should be. Your roommate could also have changed something beyond implementing WEP encryption, either intentionally or not.
You might also see if you can isolate the cause to your computers by creating a new network "location" for them.
I don't believe OpenDNS is the problem. If your AirPort network becomes unavailable at random intervals, that problem must be solved before anything else will work.
... does it matter in a WEP password if the letters are caps or not?
    Yes. WEP passwords are case-sensitive.

  • Failed to open the connection after changing the connection in CMC

    Hi
    Below are our environment details:
    BOXI 3.1 SP3
    Solaris Sparc 10
    Crystal Reports 2008 Sp3
    Weblogic 11g
Our team is facing the problem as described below:
We have created Crystal Reports using JDBC connection and it works fine
    in an environment(SIT).
When we migrate these reports to the another environment(UAT) we get
the error "Failed to open the connection"
After migrating we indeed change the connection to Custom Database
    Login Information in CMC.
So to troubleshoot we installed Crystal Reports in UAT environment and
had to perform Set DataLocation after which
    the reports starting working fine.
Now when we are migrating reports to Production we have the same issue.
We cannot install Crystal Reports on Production this time and hence we
    are stuck.
Please let us know if any known workaround or solution for the same.
    Thanks
    Kamal

    Hi Meenal,
I am not 100% sure I understood the workaround of having Crystal Designer on the server. Can you connect from UAT designer to production and perform the same operation?

  • SQL Developer 1.1 close - no error msg (connect after changed TNS info)

We installed a new QA database and as a result I had to change the connection credentials. After doing this on a connect, SQL Developer closed without any warning.
    The following repro steps:
1.) I right click on the connection name and click on Properties
2.) In the New/Save Database Connection dialog I had the following in the Oracle>TNS>Connect Identifier box:
    (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.111.xxx.xx)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = netqa) ) )
3.) I changed this to the following and then tested the connection (successfully) then clicked Save and Cancel to close the dialog:
    (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.111.yyy.yyy)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = netqa) ) )
4.) On the connection name in the tree control, I right click, click on Connect, specified the user name and password and then OK
I then noticed that my SQL Developer application disappeared.
I opened it again and used the Test button which works fine but as soon as I click Connect it also closed the application.
I then had to choose the Basic option to setup the connection info which resolved the problem.
I reproduced this on another connection and got the same thing.
I must mention that I imported these connection from a file I created by exporting the connections from the previous production version.

I am having the same problem. Too bad no one else has replied. Test connnection works and sometimes I get into the application. The first few times I was able to get it to list the object types (tables, views, etc.) though nothing was listed when I tried to explode each list. This could be because the userid I am logging on with has no objects and I haven't figured out how to make it list all objects as I can in SQL Navigator or TOAD. Now it seems that anytime I try to open one of the connections, the application simply vanishes. No no warning, no messages, it just closes.
I AM trying to use an older unsupported DB version. The first few times when it actually connected to the DB I got a warning message about an unsupported version but now I get nothing. I am starting to think that this is an intentional glitch to punish companies that are still running older versions of their database (out of necessity). If you can connect to non-Oracle data bases it seems like an older Oracle version shouldn't matter.
Anyone else have any clues why the applicatioin just closes without warning?

    Win WP SP2
Installed latest SQLDev 1.1.2 with JDK included.

  • Airport Card won't connect after changing wireless networks

    Hello,
I have a black macbook with an internal airport extreme wireless card. I use the computer at school and at home. Both school and home have functioning wireless networks in which other computers are connected and running with no problems.
When I open my laptop and wake it from sleep after changing from school to home or visa versa the airport card often will not recognize the wireless network. On many occations, even when the network is recognized it will not automatically connect to it (I have it set to do). A message saying "There was an error joining the network" comes up. The only resolution has been to reset the computer (which doesn't always work) or reset the PRAM.
Sometimes after reseting the PRAM the computer doesn't even recognize that I have an airport card installed at all. When this happens I have to reset the PRAM again to resolve it.
As a final note, when the computer doesn't automatically recognize the network and I click on the desktop wireless network icon, I get the "spinning beach ball" for a period of time before the drop down box with the available networks shows up. This seems strange to me because it shouldn't be a RAM issue as I have 2GB of ram installed on this computer.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    K.
MacBook (Intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Try the following:
    Delete Preferred Network(s)
    - System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
    - In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
    - Delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list
    Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
    - Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
    - Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    - Restart, or log out then back in.
    Add Preferred Network(s)
    - System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
    - In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
    - Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
    - Restart or log out then back in.
If you haven't already, you may want to consider creating a network location for each (school & home) with the appropriate network settings required for connectivity at each. For each location, you can set the preferred network.

  • Some clients can't connect after 10.6.6 update - the see an error -43

    Hi There,
I'm a designer so am not all that technical but have managed to setup and maintain OS X servers since 10.5.
I've just updated the server to 10.6.6 and now some of our clients can't connect - they get the following error:
"There was an error connecting to the server. Check the server name or IP address and try again.
If you are unable to resolve the problem contact your system administrator."
If I click OK to the error above on the client, I see another error which reads:
"The operation cannot be completed because one or more required items cannot be found.
    (Error code -43)"
I've restarted the server and the clients but no luck.
The server is running the following services:
    - AFP
    - DNS
    - Firewall
    - NFS (although I don't remember setting this up - is this started with AFP?)
    - Open Directory
I can ping the server and login via ARD so not sure why we see the first IP address error as mentioned above.
Any help or suggestions would be most welcome.
    Regards
    Ben

One question, is this when you hit "Connect to Server" or is this after you've established a connection and try to open/edit/save files?
    Here is some general advice:
    1) I assume your whole network is behind a router and that we are talking a small office environment (5-10 people) and not some large enterprise. If so the Firewall service can probably be disabled. As a matter of fact if your issue is that clients can't connect at all the firewall may actually be causing your problem.
    2) NFS can almost certainly be disabled. Its generally only used for two reasons 1) The netboot service needs it. 2) You support unix/bsd clients. I can see from your list of services that netboot isn't something you're doing and I doubt that as a designer you would have much use for unix/bsd systems.

  • Can;t connect after comcast install

my airport worked previously with a cablevision modem hookup.
now, with comcast, i can only connect directly via ethernet...my AX shows a green light, and network diagnostics show the AX is working but the ISP is not, yet when i connect direct to the comcast modem it works fine....any ideas?
terayon TJ 715 is the modem connected to the cable.
    Thanks!

It is important to do a complete power recycle of your network components when changing equipment. Try the following, in order, checking for Internet access after each step, until resolved:
    1. If the modem has a reset switch, use it to reset the modem. Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the modem to initialize.
    2. Remove power from the modem. If it has a backup battery, remove this as well. Wait 5-10 minutes. Replace the battery, and add power back to the modem.
    3. Perform a complete power recycle of your network components as follows:
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
o Power-off the modem, AirPort Express Base Station (AX), & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AX; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the modem, AX, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AX; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    4. Contact your ISP to have them perform a "modem reset."

  • My compy can't connect after putting in router

hello all, i have a compaq presario, and a WRT54GS router, the wireless works great, but about 2 weeks after hooking the presario to it, it lost internet, didn't even have a IP address, so we did a system recovery, fixed it, but then, the same thing just happened. wireless is good, but the wired is messed up, i have talked to compaq, they said talk to Linksys about it. so here i am. please help.Message Edited by panhead09 on 03-25-200708:23 PM

well..if the wireless connection is working good..i guess there is some problem with the NIC card of your computer...or the ethernet port on the router...only to isolate the problem , connect the computer directly to the modem and check whether the computer gets a proper ip address and can it connect to the internet..

  • Can't connect after installing

I installed the VS.NET integration tools and now an asp.net application can't connect to a 9i database. I haven't changed anything in the original app.
    I get the following error:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Any insight into why this has happened?
    Thanks,
    Christian

Or 3. Set TNS_ADMIN in the registry so that you only
ever have to maintain one file. This is documented on
technet. I should however have read the original reply first. I strongly suspect that your particular problem will be caused by the new 10g Home becoming the default Oracle home. This can be changed by firing up the OUI and choosing installed products and then the environment tab and setting the first home to be the 9i home. Alternatively of course you could consider moving the whole system to use the 10g client :)
