My TC is a 3rd gen.
I actually had to reset to standard defaults not only once but twice. The first time I simply returned to my old profile but that only led to the same message error on the network settings (i.e. IP by default, cannot connect to the internet). Therefore the second time around I kept my profile as backup and re-created a new one plus a guest one.
The airport utility then signaled to issues remaining:
1) Internet access was cut - this I solved by simply reseting the cable modem
2) There were no DNS Servers - I simply copied the ones I had from the previous setup and it worked
I did have AppleCare....
I'm online again and I hope for good.

PS. a small tip - I made captures of all my settings in Network settings, Airport Utility and Network utility using Grab in case of ... if anything it is just handy to get back settings that your are missing when setting up a new configuration

I can't connect to my MacBook because I can't get THAT to start. It just sits in it's blue screen With the apple, spinning it's gear. All this happened after I used mackeeper. If anyone can help with that, I'd appreciate it. I've tried starting in safe mode,resetting everything but nothing happens. How can I connect an old macbook pro with that does NOT have a Thunderbolt connection to a new 27 inch iMac? I only need to do this for one specific purpose, to be able to see the work I'm doing on the laptop in InDesign on the iMac's larger screen (at a larger size as it were, so I can see a double page spread (or even a whole page would be an improvement) in one go)? I gather it might be possible to get an adaptor but note that Apple don't seem to sell one. I know I could do this with the cinema screen but would rather do it with a new imac as that will have more use to me overall. It's a work laptop which I don't own so I don't own the Indesign to just be able to use that on an iMac. I have tried to connect monitors to the laptop in the past, but with no success at all. Im pretty sure you are talking about the M8536 which has an ADC Adapter.
you will have to daisy chain a thunderbolt to DVI adapter with an DVI to ADC Adapter.

Lots of hotels in the DR have WiFi. And there is plenty of cellular coverage in Santo Domingo (and elsewhere).
One thing to be careful of, the WiFi networks are usually not secured and are very vulnerable to people "listening" for passwords and user names, so don't do any financial transactions online and perhaps consider setting up some temporary passwords for the trip and changing them when you get home.

You can't connect both computers by USB. The easiest way is to connect them using a FireWire cable (if your iMac and your MacBook Pro have got FireWire ports), and put your MacBook in target disk mode (start your MacBook holding the T key).
Doing this, the iMac will detect the MacBook's hard disk as an external disk, so you can easily access to your files from Finder and copy the data you want to the iMac's hard disk

The problem is that your Mac software is quite old. You must have a version of OS X on your Mac earlier than 10.6.8 (current is 10.8.3), so your particular version of OS X cannot support any later version of iTunes. (The current iTunes version is 11.0.2). In particular, your iTunes on your computer cannot deal with your iPad which has software that is much more current than your OS X operating system (and Mac iTunes).

Same issue for me, recently I started having issues with apps no longer being able to access my Facebook account. But the iPad Facebook account settings will not accept my password, even though the Facebook app and Safari can access my account fine. The only significant events I recall that have occurred that may have triggered this have been that via my Facebook account I killed off a lot of so called authorised connections and I changed my user name, but still have the same email address and password.
I have tried just about every solution put forward on the net, short of a factory restore, back to new, on my iPad.
I have also; deleted my iCloud account, deleted the Facebook app and account, deleted Safari data.
One would think that after I have deleted my account from the iPad that it would ask for both username/email address and password, but it only asks for password, so the username is still stored somewhere that I am unable to delete.
I also see that no one seems to have been able to get an answer from Apple. So I'm guessing they have absolutely no idea themselves.
I am hesitant to put my username on Facebook back to what it was as Facebook only give you a few chances to change your username, then you are locked.
I have iOS 7.1.1 installed.
I did have a lot of respect for Apple and their devices as they just worked, but they are becoming tarnished by ignoring what seems to be a growing issue.

I am also getting the same message on my iPad, when connecting to a Win7 PC.
I have tried the solutions given at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567 but no solution.
I am desperate to get a backup of my iPad. The PC recognises the device but iTunes fails to do so and says -
