USB setting is on MASS STORAGE. And yes I get a prompt on the phone to connect (android icon with button to connect).
Sometimes it shows up in devices on the sidebar. When I attempt to use it I get a message that the device was ejected improperly, and the drive disappears.Again, I've attempted this on my iMac and a friends PC and got the same results.
Thank you in advance for any advice in this matter.
Thanks
Are you using the USB cable that came with the phone, or another cable? Try using the factory cable that came with the phone if you are not.

    Dear Community,
how can I connect SCSI tape recorder via USB to iMac ?
Is there any adapter/converter on the market now ?
    Cheers, Marek

    Thanks Jan.
Actually the reason to use Quantum SCSI tape recorder is to back-up big amount of data (propriety movies footage) both on PC (what is quite easy, using SCSII host adapter with VHDCI 68 connector) and iMac what seems to be not easy. All my search by Google leads to that conclussion, they finished production of SCSI-to-USB or FireWire because somebody stopped to produce chips to covert protocols. So even buying noe second-hand adapter, no guaranty it's still working with Lion (nobody is developing drivers anymore). Strange is, nobody or just a few are using SCSII (Ultra 320) devices (while the transfer is not bad, 320 MBps what is 2560 Mbps, so the only limitation is tape recording (some 80 MBps) not an interface. Using compression mode I can (and I do) record 1,6 TB of footage data. However quite slow, is safe and cheap, comparing with any HD storage solution. USB 2 is much more limited.
I'm using Time Capsule for buck-up. But even 3 TB one day will be full of data, then old back-ups will be eaten by new once, what is not good idea for archives. I'm using another 2TB NAS HD (2x2TB RAID 1), but this is also going to be full soon.
Of course, you are right, the option is another machine (OSX,Win,Linux or Solaris) equipped with SCSII controller. But this requires another machine, just for back-up time to time, and in practice iMac folders must be shared with that small auxiliary machine because amount of data practically excluding even temporary data collection on auxiliary machine. And it must be transfer by wire, not WIFI, my only network. Tape recording is in my case really good, professional solution, isn't it?
Anyway, if somebody has similar requirements as me, and found the solution for SCSI, please let me know. So far, follow Jan's idea, I'm thinking about some embeded mini PC, fanless, equipped with slot for SCSI, with SOME smart system on-board, to deal with iMac for type recording. The option is previous Apple model, but to be honest, I became Mac/OSX user 4 years ago. I fell in love with Mac, but my knowledge about previous models is based on Google....
My desk becomes full of boxes. Do you know how big Quantum TC-L42BX is ? Is very big. And now another box.....another keyboard....another screen... And one small adapter could solve the problem. Eh....
    Best regards,
    Marek

can i connect my dv camera to my new imac via thunderbolt firewire adaptor

If FW is the only connection the camera has then yes Thunderbolt Firewire adapter is correct. It's available from a number of sources including Apples own online store, in the USA the link would be:

Syncing & importing pics/videos in the camera roll are two entirely different things & have nothing to do with each other.
You can import iPhone camera roll photos/videos using any computer you want...this has nothing to do with iTunes or syncing.

Can I connect my cable box to my 2011 iMac

If you are setting up to use Wi Fi connect the Ethernet cable to the cable box then to the router.
Some companies like Comcast have online manuals available online for instructions. Check your cable company's web site. The manuals should be available in PDF format.

Their are some display adaptors you can get. I have an older Mac Pro with DVI but my monitor is a Thunderbolt Display. This used to be around $250. It is way cheaper now.

  • Can i connect an external hard drive to my iMac

I have recently switched from a windows PC and have transferred all my documents/photos to an external hard drive.  Can I connect this to my iMAC?

Absolutely.  If the format is NTFS, you can only read from it which would give you access.  If you want to read and write to it, then consider copying off the files then reformatting the drive to ex-fat (to keep windows compatibility) or HFS+ to be Mac only.  When you're done you can copy the files back.
Changing formats is accomplished via the Mac application "Disk Utility" which is in your "Utility" application folder.

  • Can I connect the time capsule to my existing iMac wirelessly?

I've just bought the airport time capsule. can I connect to my my existing wifi netwiork without an ehternet cable?

You can but it works really poorly and it is not supported by apple.
Plug the TC by ethernet into your main router and you can turn off the wireless if you like.
The exception is if your existing network is running apple router/s then you can use the TC as extend.

  • Can you connect older 27" LED Display to current iMacs?

Hi - finding conflicting information via Apple support pages and google and wanted to throw this out to the community for verification.
My endstate is to run dual 27" LEDs...one being on a current iMac and the other being a first-generation Apple 27" LED.
Can you connect a first-generation Apple 27" LED display utilizing the min-display port to the current 27" iMac (non 5K) utilizing the Thunderbolt port?  If so - is it a simple Thunderbolt-to-Thunderbolt cable or is there an adapter on the mini-display side required?  Thanks!

Niel - thanks for your reply.

  • Can't connect to other Macs from MBP

I have a 2.4 SR MBP that I cannot connect to other macs in our house including an 2.0 MBP and a Mac Pro. I can see them in the shared computers but they won't connect. I have all of the computers set up the exact same way on sharing. I'm even setting it up now that all users can connect. Any thoughts?

I forgot to add that everything was previously connected via an Airport express wireless system. I just got an Airport Extreme system which hasn't changed things a bit.

  • Can I connect multiple monitors to a MBP MD102?

I have a Mid-2012 13 inch Macbook Pro MD102.  I have one external monitor connected through the mini display port but I have three more monitors laying around the house I would like to put to use.  I tried connecting them through USB adaptors but the performance was extremely slow and didn't work correctly.  Is there a solution where I can use my Macbook with more than just this one monitor?  Thanks for your help.

Yes, but how depends on what model of Mini and what kind of monitors.  Early models only had one monitor port.  Later models had a Mini-DVI port and a Mini-Displayport.  Current models have a Mini-Displayport and a HDMI port.  The Mini-DVI and Mini-Displayport can attach VGA or DVI monitors, whereas the HDMI port can't use VGA monitors.
Beyond that, you can get Matrox's DualHead2Go or a USB->VGA or USB->DVI adapter.  The Matrox product is a bit expensive and the USB adapters are a bit to slow for games and such.  So, again, the answer is "yes", but with limitations

  • Can't connect to LAN when booting MBP from external drive?

In an effort to always work in my computer environment, I backup my Mac Pro main drive to an external firewire drive, plug in to my new Macbook Pro 2.9 and option start off this drive. Result is I'm working off the last backup of my main Mac Pro drive so all my apps, stored mail, etc, is alive and well. I merely track any changes and new files and copy them over or use DropBox to get them on to my Main Mac Pro, my main computer.
Problem is, when booting off my external drive running Lion 10.7.5, my MBP's network won't turn on or recognize my home LAN. Then if I restart off just the MBP drive, it does connet to my LAN automatically.
Could the problem be that since my MBP was set up for Mount Lion, that it won't fully work with a drive with a Lion OS on it? I thought perhaps I had to turn on Airport when on my external Lion drive, since I don't have that turned on on my Mac Pro which uses ethernet. Can't figure this one out. The MBP must have airport as I'm on it now but booted off the internal ML OSX drive.
    Thx,
    Steven

No not at all. You should have access to your LAN from any version of OS X that is set up correctly. It's still using the same hardware and should be loading the same drivers for that hardware and YES you may have to actually turn on the Airport card.

  • How can I connect my MBA 11" 2012  to my Imac 21.5" mid 2010 as a display unit. Connected using a mini display port cable and this did not work. Any guidance welcome. Thanks. John

I bought a belkin mini display unit cable( new) and connected the thunderbolt port in the MBA ( 11" , mid 2012) to the Imac mini display unit port using this cable. Pressed the CMD & F2 keys on the Imac keyboard as required but this did not work. Should I try with another cable ? Should i try with a thunderbolt cable ( recommended by appple support ) -- but they too were not sure about this. Is the Mid 2010 21.5" Imac not able to function as an display unit? Any guidance would help and will be much appreciated.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Only the 27-inch iMac and Mid 2011 and newer iMacs can be used as an external screen, so you can't use your Mac as an external screen. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302
You can still use your iMac as an external display, using an application like ScreenRecycler
