Can't Connect new 3750 to old 2900 XL

I have 2 new 3750's connected via GBICs that work fine. When I used a cross-over cable as the manual suggests to connect the 3750 to the normal network switch which is a 2900, the light starts, then goes black. The web based management piece shows on the port "Status: Port in error-disabled".
The recommended solution is that a GBIC is bad, but since I can bring up both systems and communicated back and forth, I believe they are good.
The other suggestion is enabling the spanning tree or something. I can telnet and configure this if that's what's necessary, but I'd like the step by steps if possible.
Other than that, I find it hard to believe that these Ciscos wouldn't talk to each other natively, is there something else I'm missing?
I also downloaded the Cisco Network Assistant which runs very slow...selected all ports and chose enable. Would this have the same affect as enabling the port in Telnet for the spanning-tree?
Help, I'm really at a loss.

Thanks for your quick response, I'm waiting for this system to log in now. Taking way too long The show log displays in numerous ports comments such as:
PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: bpduguard error detected on Gi1/0/22, putting Gi1/0/22 with BPDU Guard enabled. Disabling port.
...changed state to down
Looks like the above problem is what's going on, now that I know to do a show log. I tested with another known working Cross-over cable same result.
I found some info yesterday on performing this BPDUGUARD and enabling it, but I wasn't sure when I was at the telnet screen what the preceding commands would be, such as advanced, or enable, then the command, then save or write or something. This part of the cisco stuff is just too new for me.
I did not try changing any of the default speeds or duplex mode, but again, now it's really pointing to this BPDUGUARD problem I have.
What do you think?

Can we add new condition in old PO with new pricing schema

We have created new pricing schema for addition of new condition type at header level on
25/11/2010 in client server but the problem is for old purchase order client want new condition
on header condition tab.It is obvious that in old po on analysis tab it shows old pricing schema.
Is there any solution to get new condition in old Purchase order????

Let me know the basic Price Condition if its PB00 or PBXX.
Let me know how you have called the pricing schema. if you had attached it with document type and you have changed the document type, you will be required to create new PO with new doc type.
If you have taken Vendor Schema group as a criteria, then you will be required to end the validity of old pricing conditions in condition table and need to activate new conditions on this date.
Check for other basic keys like Purchasing Organization as well.
Let me know if you have any existing Source List or QA for the vendor too.

Can't Connect - New Connection

I want to like Contribute CS3, I really do. I spent the money
on the full version. I trusted in Adobe to put out a product that
was as robust as Photoshop and all the rest. So far, it's been
disappointing.
The latest drama is that all of a sudden, Contribute can't
connect to the blog that I've been editing with Contribute for
weeks. When I pulled up the page and clicked the Connect button,
nothing happened. No error message, nothing telling me that the
program couldn't connect. Naturally, I simply deleted the
connection (since editing doesn't actually allow you to edit the
connection) and created a new one.
I chose "Blogs", "Other Blog Servers" and entered the URL of
my blog. The window pops up asking for username and password. I
enter them. The correct protocol and xmlrpc file location are
filled in. I hit Finish. I get the dreaded error message:
Contribute cannot connect to the server. Please check your
connection information or contact your administrator.
Guess what Adobe? I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR. When will software
companies learn that error messages like the above are completely
useless? Okay, so I double check that all my entries are correct.
Everything is spelled correctly. It simply won't connect.
I can login via the web directly to my Wordpress 2.1.3
install. No problem. My internet connection is fine. My Wordpress
installation is fine. Everything works - except Contribute.
This is the last straw. If I can't get this resolved, I'm
going to abandon Contribute CS3 and spread the word about the
inadequacies of it. I can live with the inability to edit the
source code of a post (which means I have to manually edit the post
in Wordpress to add basic things like affiliate link code), but if
I can't even connect to a blog, the whole thing is pointless.
I'm on a Mac, Tiger. Fully updated.
Please advise.

Can you look at your LAN settings on your computer, and see what IP address and default gateway have been allocated.
If you click on "details", you should be able to see what the DNS server is set to.
Also on the home hub, there should be a page showing the Internet status, and what your WAN IP address, default gateway, and DNS servers are.
What are your ADSL stats showing?
Its possible that there is a configuration error somewhere, or the home hub is faulty. Do you have another router you can try?
Does your order show "completed" when you look on my BT?

Can I sync new iPhone5 from old iPhone4 in iTunes on new computer?

I have an old iPhone4 & a new iPhone5 that I am dying to use but my laptop with iTunes on it died before my new phone arrived & I am a bit technically challenged. I have been given the use of my cousin's old windows laptop & I have created a new user on the laptop and installed iTunes but I cannot see any of my music, aps etc on there so I am not sure if I’ve done it properly. I can view my account details and that’s it. So I don’t know if I’ve done it properly. I have iCloud and have set it up on the new laptop too, I can see my contacts & calendar but I cannot see photos in my Photo Stream album where it said they should be, which makes me wonder if I have set that up properly either. I really don’t want to lose my latest photos since syncing my phone the last time. I do not know if I am able to retrieve anything from my old laptop at this stage but I’d really like to start using my new iPhone in the interim of finding out. Can anyone help me? If plugged in my old iPhone4 into this new computer would it sync all my stuff on there into the iTunes on this new computer? And then would I be able to plug in my new iPhone5 to this computer & it would sync all my stuff on to the new phone?

iPhones are not backup devices.
Use the backup of the old computer to put everything on the new computer.
Then you can sync the new iPhone and get all the content on it.

Connecting new MacBook to old Cinema Display

I have an old Cinema Display that I want to use with my new MacBook. I just bought the DVI to ADC adapter. I can connect the Cinema Display to the adapter but the manual illustrates that to connect to the MacBook I need to use both the USB port and another port for which there is no equivalent port on my new laptop. Any ideas?

It sounds like you are looking for an Apple Mini DVI to DVI Adapter available from the Apple Store (including the online Apple Store). You will also need a standard DVI-D cable to go between the adapter and the DVI to ADC adapter.

Connecting new iPod Classic, old PB G4 without USB2.0

This may be an old question at this point, but I just recieved a new iPod Classic and wish to connect it to my PB G4 through a connection faster than USB1. What is the most reliable high speed connection available? Powered PCMCIA USB2.0 card? Firewire to USB2.0 converter? Run it off the USB2.0 jack on my FW800 external drive? SOL? USB1 currently works, albeit, as many have noted, at Mac II speeds; old PB still going strong, meets all other needs, so would rather spend the $ on music. Your thoughts?

No, because it won't convert the FW from the computer to USB out of the drive.

Can't connect new computer to airport

I have an airport base station at home with my apple laptop that has a wireless card and all runs fine. However, when I brought home a 3 year old apple power macG5 computer I had at work, which was also working off an airport base station at work, the G5 would not connect to the internet off the home airport base station. I've logged into my home airport base station network with the G5, it asked me if I wanted to join the new network, I answered yes and typed in the password. The status window tells me that I'm connected to my home airport and that I'm connected to the internet via ethernet, however, the computer still fails to connect to the internet. I've even gone into the network preferences in the G5 and scanned the airport base station at home and the airport ID now matches the one on my apple laptop setting and still there is no connecting to the internet with the G5. I'm now sure what to do now?

It may be possible the your G5's AirPort settings either have DNS servers identified or is set up for going through a Proxy.
System Preferences > Show > AirPort > TCP/IP tab
o DNS Servers <look to see if there are entries here, and if not used by your ISP, delete them>
System Preferences > Show > AirPort > Proxies tab
o Remove any proxies that have been enabled.

Can't upload new songs into old library?

I had another itunes account under another email... I moved... I misplaced my ipod & went on with my life.
I found my ipod. I created a new acct with my new email & bought a bunch of songs. Now there's some foolishness that I can't have 2 libraries & so I can't get my new songs on the ipod with my old stuff. There are threats of deleting the old library for the new & I can't have that!
Any suggestions appreciated before I put my ipod back in a drawer. Please feel free to point me to another thread or a section in a manual. I've given up trying to find the answer myself as I am old, cranky & up way after my bed time.

There are a few ways to approach this.
First off, authorize your PC under the old account. If you have forgotten the details, use these directions to recover your old account info.

You might need to contact iTS support if you can't get to the old email.
Once you get the PC authorized with the old account, you should be able to use the "Transfer Purchases" feature - and not erase anything.

I can access AOL email and can move from New Mail to Old Mail, but I cannot open the mail

I can see the topic and the sender, but when I click on the message, it will not open, whether in new, old or saved mail.

The password for use in the Mail application would be the same password you use when accessing Gmail by using an internet browser. The exception to that would be if you have 2-step verification enabled for Gmail. If that is the case then you would need to use an "application-specific password." If you are using 2-step, you can revoke the previous application-specific password and get a new one as described in https://support.google.com/mail/answer/1173270?hl=en

Time capsule works for pc laptop, but can't connect new ipad?

Got my new ipad and find that I cannot connect it to the Time Capsule even though the Time Capsule connection works for a pc laptop. I tried my ereader which used to connect and also will not connect. I was on the phone for a couple hours with Apple Care, but now that it appears to be a Time Capsule problem they can't help. So frustrated, just want to get to my ipad! Thanks for any help. Please be gentle, as I need plain talk, I'm not that tech savvy.

If you reset the router , it will come back to factory default settings and your laptop will get disconnected.
I think you need to check the wireless settings.
Open the setup page of the router. Go to Wireless tab. Check the network name. Go to Wireless security tab. Check the wireless security settings and make sure that you have the correct network key. Go to Wireless MAC filter sub tab and make sure that it is disabled.
Try to connect to the wireless network again on IPAD.

Bought new Macbook Pro. Can I install new OS on old iMac?

I just bought a brand new Macbook Pro and it has Snow Leopard on it.
Can I use the Snow Leopard disks that came with the Macbook to install Snow Leopard on my other iMac computer? I'm hoping to wipe clean the iMac because it's sluggish after nearly 3 years of use and it is also cluttered with so much crap a complete clean install would do it some good.

The short answer is maybe. Because many of the Os installation disks that came with a Mac will only install on that type of Mac. There is a file on the install CD that determines what models that CD can install on. You would give it a try and it should let you know before you wipe the iMac clean and actually install Snow Leopard.

Can't connect new macbook to D-Link wireless network

Just purchased a new aluminum 13" macbook last weekend. I have an existing D-Link DIR-655 wireless router with 2 Dell laptops, 2 iPhones, and 1 Sirius Stilleto connected with WAP Personal Security and MAC address filtering working just fine. I added the new macbook's MAC address to the router but the macbook will only connect to the wireless network using WEP (with MAC address filtering), but not WAP (with or without the MAC address filtering on). When I try to connect with WAP I get one of two messages - either "connection failed" or "incorrect password". I've verified the password. Any suggestions?

Contacting your ISP would be the best thing to do. If you haven't already, Apple put out the Airport Update 2008-004 which updates a lot of issues with the aluminum Macbooks wireless. I have the new one also and that update fixed a lot of my problems. But if you are still having a problem you are best calling your internet service provider (ISP).

Can't connect new MacBook to wireless internet

Just bought a MacBook, but I can't get it to connect to the internet over my wireless network. It picks up the signal, I typed in the password, and Internet Connect says that I am connected. But when I open Safari it just tells me I am not connected. Then it tells me to run Network diagnostics (ISP, INternet, and Server all say 'failed'), then Network Setup assistant. I follow those steps and inevitably it tells me "unable to establish a network connection).
My router is a 2Wire that came with my DSL subscription. I have never had an issue connecting a PC using the WEP password but I'm clueless on the Mac.

I have been having a slightly different problems with my MB and the built-in wireless. On my home network I have had 4 different Windows laptops connected over the last few years and each and every time they find the network and connect no problem. With the MB it connected first time via WPA and all was well. However after about 2 weeks for no apparent reason it dropped the connection and no matter what I did it would not find the wireless network again.
Took it to work the next day and via the 802.1X network there it connected automatically as soon as I started it (previously set-up of course). Got home that night and when I started it the WPA connection worked again.
This has now happened 3 times with it working without a problem for 2-3 weeks and then just losing the connection. Generally if I switch it off and wait until the next day it all works again but as I am going to be travelling soon I need a reliable machine that connects each and every time. Guess it will be a Windows laptop then as I'm totally lost as to what to do with the MB.
