Can't connect to a friend

For the past two days I have tried to connect to a friend I've Skyped with dozens of times. I get a "busy" message when I try video-calling him, he gets the same thing when he tries calling me.
We are both signed in.
I tried from Windows and directly through Skype, from my Droid phone, from my work and home computers. This is going on for two days now!

Thanks - this is all interesting. I knew about WEP not being secure but this is not my house and not my network. I can't mess with the router because my friends have it set up and are using it.
I should perhaps point out: this is Italy.

The router is the one provided by the telephone company. So is the WEP password.
The WEP password works for them via Airport but not for me.
I'm just wondering why that might be?

Just confirming, when you have the trouble, the wifi icon is grayed-out or has all bars showing? I believe you are saying that is is grayed-out - not connected to your wireless router.
I have a Mini that started to lose connection to the Internet after the 10.7.3 update but still showed the wireless as connected. If I pinged the wireless router, I would get a quarter of the packets failing to return. The router was a Netgear that supported 802.11N connections. As a test, I set it to 802.11G (54MBps) maximum and the Mini worked fine for a week - no dropouts. And for the other devices that did support 802.11N, while there was a noticeable delay with downloads and pages loading, they still worked.
As another test, I changed the Netgear router to a Billion 802.11N model and the Mini has not had a problems since. (It is still using 802.11g). So it could be your router that is causing trouble for your Mac.
Have a look at some of the More Like This postings in the right column. There has been a number of Mac owners experiencing wifi connection issues and some very good suggestions as to how to resolve their issue.

both of us are connected to internet.I want to connect to my friend's database through sqlplus utility. I have installed Oracle devsuite 10g.
I have obtained my friends tns and copy it in Network/admin folder's tnsnames.ora files. But when i connect error occurs .The error is TNS could not resolve the connect identifier.
Is remote connection possible over internet ?

Can't connect to a friend's router

I am staying with friends. I can see their network via airport and when it asks me for the WEP password I enter it, but it refuses to recognise the WEP.
I've tried the trick of putting in a $ sign before the WEP password but that doesn't help.
Any suggestions?
Currently I'm connected via Ethernet but the connection is very slow. It took something like 10 minutes for me to get here and post this message.
Meanwhile, as I type this, in the Network System Prefs window I'm seeing the message "Authentication server is not responding" but somehow I'm just about managing to connect via Ethernet.
Any suggestions would be welcome as to how I can get this WEP password accepted. It is definitely correct.

I can't connect with Turkey!

Hi! I have a problem. I'm from Poland and can't connect with my friend from Turkey using Skype. It's strange coz she is the only one from my friends with whom i can't establish connection. And she is from Turkey. I talked to people from US, South Africa and other remote countries but I can't establish connection with Turkey! And i'm from Poland. Does Turkey block connection from Poland? She has the same problem. She can't connect only with me - she talks to people from all over the world expect me. Can you help me?

Can't connect to the internet at Comfort Inn

As the subject states, I can't connect to the internet at the Hotel I'm staying at near Ft. Lee, VA. It'll let me access the login page, and log in, but that's it. After that, it won't let me connect to anything but the status page. The status page does show a different IP address different from what the Network preferences shows. The Status page says x.x.x.205, while Network says x.x.x.192. I can't connect, however, my friend who has a PC is able to. This sorta irritates me, since this is the first time ever I've had networking issues, and I've honestly never had problems connecting to a network before. Any suggestions?

I'll add that the issue is connecting via ethernet. I can connect via wireless just fine, but the only way I can do that from my room with their network is to hold my computer above my head in between the two beds, and I just don't think that's feasible to do for a long time. Any assistance that could be given would be greatly appreciated.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

I have also tried changing the contact emails(you can contact me by) in Facetime(diff email for IPAD and Macbook Pro). Facetime tried the call, I see the accept buttom appear and it goes away as the call never connects? Any ideas??

All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
Now just synch the iPod.

A bit confused. Are you saying your friends are using your itunes on your laptop to buy apps and that you are then syncing them to your iphone?

Instead of joining it from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
