Can't connect to a some sites

since a couple of days I can not reach some sites. examples are:
http://www.brushesapp.com/
http://tweepsapp.com/
all internet connections are just fine, there are just a very few sites i can't reach. but i can reach them with gprs on my iphone so i know the problem is with 'me'.
setup: speedtouch modem connected to airport extended network (airport extreme/airport express
os: mac 10.6.2
systems: powerbook pro and mac pro, iphone, wii, ps3
i rebooted all modems and still no go, also when i disable wifi and use ethernet, i have no access to the above sites.
could it be a problem with my provider ? any guesses here ?
many, many thanks as this is a great mistery to me !

glenn, thx for all your help. excuses for my late reply as i was on travelling !
i added the 2 dns numbers and they gave me access right away to the websites i couldn't access before so everything seems to be fine untill i found out that i had no access (authorization) to my personal twitter account. (all family members did have access very well on the same network)
1) i checked with tweetie iphone on gprs and had excellent access. so was going on here. ? i first changed my twitter password but that did not help. then i was thinking on the dns changes.
2) i deleted the dns numbers from my airport extreme/express but kept them in my macs network prefs. this helped strangely having access to the earlier unaccessable websites AND my twitter account.
so problems solved but don't ask me if i understand it
do you recongnize this ?
cheers

  • I can not connect to a web site using aol/ google with safari , only yahoo will connect to the site

I find i can only connect to some sites using yahoo.  google and aol will not allow me to connect , what do I do?

First off, AppleTV doesn't give web access.
Second off, Apple's classic operating system compatibility with many websites is very limited.  That's the operating system available in virtualization on Macs made prior to early 2006, and as a boot operating system on Macs on or before 2003.
So without knowing what you have that is compatible, we can't give you really good advice on what to make it work.  Identify your Mac, if you have one:
    http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2881
And tell us what version of the Mac OS you have in Apple menu -> About This Mac.    Mac OS 10.0.x does not run on AppleTV.    Then we can tell you what operating system support you should be able to get, and what browser support you should be able to get.

  • This is very strange: I can't connect to only three sites!

    Hello,
First of all sorry for my bad english, I hope to be enough clear to explain this strange problem.
I have recently experienced a problem fot what I have not any idea of the solution.
About one week ago, after installing the new iLife suite and iWork suite I have seen that it was impossible to connect at few web sites: Google, Version Tracker, eBay.... just this and two or three other.
All the other websites run perfectly.
I have try to trash the preferences of the browser, to change the browser (using another one: Opera, for example), to clear the cache... anything possible... but nothing happens: the three sites still can't upload.
The only solution (very hard for me) was to make one archive and install of the system, and this make all the thing OK.
Today I have downloaded all the new upgrades (from the iWork suite, to the iLife suite) and I have start to experience the same probelm.
    I don't want experienced again another re-install...
Ah.. this issue coming only on the G5 desktop with the Powerbook I haven't any problem...
Anybody can give me some info or input about this?
    Thanks a lot

Another interesting issue is that if I try to connect via USB mobile Phone (or bluetooth mobile phone) through the UMTS network, everything run perfect and all the website are correctly upload.
This indicates that the problem is a DNS issue. The ISP that you use normally isn't giving you reliable information about where web sites are located, while the UMTS network is providing reliable DNS information.
To test this further, try using OpenDNS addresses. This will bypass whatever DNS your ISP is using. If you're able to access Google, Versiontracker, and eBay on your normal connection after making this change, then you know the problem has to do with your ISP's DNS. You can use OpenDNS addresses indefinitely if that improves your web browsing.

  • Can only connect to HTTPS (secure) sites and can't connect to HTTP sites

In short I CAN ONLY connect to HTTPS sites, meaning secure.
I've narrowed this down to an issue regrading my mac book pro and the wireless router.
    Router:
    - not sure of the make model
    - other computers CAN connect to this router and go online
    My Mac:
    - Mac Book Pro
    - OS X 10.6
    - I can connect to other wireless networks just fine
    - I can surf the web for about 10 minutes or so then it blocks ALL http traffic
and i'm only allowed to https sites
going to a http site results in a "page is taking to long to respond"
    please anything?

The router is a Verizon MI424WR
hope that helps, but i doubt it will...
just to also clairfy http sites either go really slow then time out only never to come back, https are blazing fast

  • I can't connect to a web site via the site's own WiFi.

This is a strange one. When I'm in the New York Public Library and connected to the internet via their WiFi I can connect to any web site EXCEPT the New York Public Library's! (www.nypl.org) It tries connecting then times out every time. I can connect to the NYPL's site when I'm not there from home or other WiFis public or private, and when there I can connect to it on my iPhone, but not from my computer with either Firefox or Safari. Other people with Macs can access the site from there and I went over my settings with one of them but could find no differences.
I'm using 10.5.7 and have the latest updates for Firefox and Safari and the latest updates for OSX. What's frustrating is that when I'm at the library doing research there are databases one can only access from there, not from outside, so it's a very odd situation. Using iPhone for such a reason is quite impractical, too so I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer. I'm sure it's a setting somewhere in my network prefs or something but I'm baffled as to what it might be - has anyone else ever run across something similar?
    Thank you!

I am hear at the New York Public Library now. I am connected to the internet on their WiFi but still cannot get to their site at the address http://www.nypl.org , it times out. I pinged them with this result:
    Ping has started ...
ping: cannot resolve http://www.nypl.org: Unknown host
I tried "lookup" with the following result:
    Lookup has started ...

    3600 ; retry (1 hour)
    10800 ; expire (3 hours)

I have tried at other times to get to the site through links from other sites with no luck.
Thank you in advance for your time and attention.

  • I can not connect to a web site at office, but home can

I can not connect to a cfml web site at office, but home can...well I copied ste file from home to office but didn't work, well?

If it's in an office that you are having trouble connecting I would highly recommend consulting with your IT department in the office to ensure that they are not blocking the connection with the corporate firewall.

  • How do I fix and error message telling me Firefox can't connect to a viable site I've not had issues with in the past (via links sent from the site)?

This is the message I receive when I attempt to use links within email messages sent to me by a specific number of vendors: "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at vogueknitting.us2.list-manage1.com."
I started getting this message when I tried to use links sent to me via one specific vendor, "Little Knits". I've tried to update plugins and other vulnerabilities FireFox/Mozilla identified and now I'm getting the message when I attempt links from other website email messages with links such as the Vogue Knitting website. I have a feeling the issue is somehow linked to Mozilla and some blocking features. Could you please help.
I'm using my laptop PC at home, Windows 7, everything appears to be "updated", Time Warner Internet provider......

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Can't connect to specific Web site

I was able to access all Web sites using PCs attached to a WRT54GS (wired and wireless). Then, when nothing seemingly changed in my setup, I could no longer access a specific site with either wired or wireless. It is a site I access frequently (an ecommerce site that I maintain). Once the problem was seen on one PC, it is seen on all PCs using the router. It is a domain that I have registered, but I am not hosting it myself. Others have no problem accessing this web site.
I was able to reset the WRT54GS a couple of times (not just power cycling) to get rid of this problem, but eventually, the problem was no longer corrected by a reset. I also upgraded to the latest firmware, and it did not help. I tried removing the router and connecting a PC directly to my cable modem. I could access the site just fine this way.
I tried a different router (BEFSR41), and everything worked fine for a few days. Then the same problem started happening again. Resetting the BEFSR41 also stopped fixing the problem after a couple of tries. Again, hooking an individual PC directly to the cable modem worked fine.
I then tried a second WRT54GS router. For several days, there were no problems. But eventually, the site was not accessible again. I have found no other sites that I could not access. I have borrowed a non-Linksys wireless router for over a month now, and the problem has not been seen.
My question is why do three different Linksys routers (2 WRT54GS and 1 BEFSR41) no longer allow me to connect to a specific Web site? Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

I had the same problem, and I finally solved it through DNS refreshing.
After MTU manipulation left me nowhere, I tried ye olde:
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /renew
...with no success.  I then looked over the ipconfig options, and decided to try:
    ipconfig /registerdns
    ...which finally worked!
So much for twelve hours of my life.

  • Why can't I go to some sites that people send me in my e-mail? What do I need to do to be able to access all sites I want to go to?

I was sent a web site to view. Firefox would not allow me to open it. Why?

Ice1968, I think you're the first person I have seen here take the ownership of not having a protection plan and the consequences. Most people just blame VZW. I am sorry to hear that they won't let you get a device by visiting a corporate store. In most cases, telephone support doesn't even offer an upgrade early but in your case they did. I wish I could tell you why the store and telephone support operate differently but I can't. From my experience telephone support has a little more leeway to bend the rules a little bit. From our customer perspective it doesn't make sense and I have no earthly idea of how it could make good business sense. I do know for a fact that store employees do not have the ability to override the system to allow you upgrade early. Again, one would think that it's all the same system so if they can do it over the phone why not in store? I don't know. My one question is, are you sure that the phone employee was offering a 2 year contract and not an Edge agreement? They are 2 completely different options and the chance is that the phone employee was maybe not giving you all of the information. I would call them back and ask them which option was being offered to be clear. I understand that you don't want to wait for shipping as I wouldn't but unfortunately when telephone support offers something that's the only way to acquire the new device.

  • Losing wired connection randomly to some sites

I'm not sure whats going on all of a sudden with my connection. I've never seen this happen before.
It seems like everything is fine, then all of a sudden, I won't be able to get to google, but I'll be able to get to other sites. then google will start working 3 other sites I won't be able to access. Even weirder, I will be able to access www.somedomain.com but not dev.somedomain.com.
Also when this happens. I sometimes have problems with mail accessing whatever server I am unable to browse to.
And my ichat connection drops drops but unknowingly. Meaning my buddy list is still showing my buddies like i'm online, but when I type to someone it hangs and shoots me an error.
restarting will fix it temporarily but it eventually happens again. This started all of a sudden about a week ago. before that everything was totally fine. I don't believe I installed anything that would interfere and cause this.
Anyone seen this? My wifes PB is find during this, and FF on my machine also gets to the pages that safari is having problems with.
    Very weird. Any feedback appreciated!

Me again. Just figured out that if I turn of my Built-In Ethernet and use my airport on my G5 (to the same router), I have none of the problems above. It seems to only be the wired connection. Anyone else experiencing anything like this? Am I alone

  • I can't connect to multiple web sites and can to others???

I'm Not sure if the title actually explains my problem. I am a novice so please be gentle and precise with me.
I have a Mac OS X 10.6 Desk top. I have had the machine approx 3 months have had no problems before with the sites; I am trying to access now, previously.
I've done the Ping test to the sites I am trying to access and they are coming back clean.
The fault that appears is the usual safari one, saying it cannot connect to the server. Just today after setting up this account it will now not let me log out of it. Saying it cannot find the page I'm looking for?
So I'm at a real loss any help will be welcome
    Cheers Everyone

In reality, the DNS translates names like www.apple.com into numerical IP address like 17.251.200.70.

I think this is in the wrong forum - but never mind
This sounds like it might be a DNS problem. Domain Name Servers (DNS) translate net address (like 192.168.0.1) into names (like www.apple.com). They sometimes get screwed up.
Check what you have set for your DNS servers (in Network Preferences on the Mac, but also on your router). You could try using Google's DNS servers, which work well.

  • T61 Wireless Connectivity Issue - can not connect with secure wireless sites

I have a T61 using Windows XP. The internal wireless card was factory installed and has not been upgraded.
My home Internet is Comcast high-speed.
When I take my laptop to a coffee shop, business or other location with a secure wireless network that requires a password, I have not been able to log on. I can see the wireless networks available and can click on the appropriate one, but I never get a window/pop-up box/screen in order to allow me to enter the wifi network's user name and password.
Is this a firewall issue, wireless card issue...or?
I can access unsecured wireless networks where a password is not needed.

    Hi lisapapp!
One more thing to check: Is your Windows XP up to date? Older XP releases do not support the newer wireless encryption types which are now in common use (WPA, WPA2). Make sure you have SP3.
