Can't connect to a website WRT54G v5

Ok All was fine and then one day I could not connect to a website.
www.worldofwarcraft.com  to be exact.
Every time I try to go there I get, internet explorer can not display the web page.  I have reset, unplugged and switched back to the default settings on my router.  I am using the WRT54G v5 and I have the newest firmware v1.02.0
No matter what I can not display the page.  Every where else I go I have no problem.  I have 3 computers on this router one is wireless, two are plugged into the ports.  All have the same problem when I try to access this site
Now if I bypass my router and just plug into my cable modem I have no problem getting to the site.  It comes right up like it should as if nothing is wrong.
Any ideas or tips on fixing this would be greatly appreciated

I have the exact same problem with my WRT54GS V2 router.  All connections worked fine, then one day I could no longer connect to easo.ea.com via my PS3.  Then a month later I lost connection to www.golfsmith.com from all PCs.  I too can connect to the site and the game server via the modem, but can't connect to or ping either one through the router.  please help! I have had this issue for 3 months now.  I can connect to other game servers with the PS3 and load all other web sites via the PCs.

  • Can't connect to a website [WRT54GS]

As of today my Linksys WRT54GS wireless router decided to block a website that I often visit. There's no problem to connect to the site when I don't use the router so clearly there has to be something wrong with it. I don't know what to do...
Any suggestions? Problems like these are so **bleep** annoying…

Yeah, there's no problem connectiong to those sites. I actually chated with the support last night and after a while I was told this: "I am afraid then the routers needs to be replaced". Don't know why the person said routers because I only have one but anyways, I'm going to send it back.
But one thing you can try is to lower you MTU size to say, 1300 or 1200 and then try again to access the sites. If that doesn't work you can try to uncheck the "Block Anonymous Internet Requests"-box under the security tab. If that doesn't work I guess that you're in the same position as me..

Is your problem with streaming audio broadcasts to and are you outside the UK ?
If so you may have fallen prey to the BBC's Content Distribution Network which often seems to produce problems they keep re-issuing advice such as:

  • Can't connect to some websites but internet is working

My internet is working but I can't connect to some websites ( various university) when I disconnect the time capsule and connect directly from the modem then it works. Internet provider said it was a problem with my time capsule...
I restored to factory settings and unplugged/ plugged 100 times. Even created new network.
Don't know what else to do...
Anyone out there with a similar experience??
    Thanks!

Hi, barcenas. Welcome to the forums!
Check your TC's DNS settings. Try using 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Does this allow you to connect to the websites?

  • Suddenly can't connect to certain websites

This week I discovered that I am unable to connect to several websites I am accustomed to visiting frequently. These are not 404 errors. Safari and Firefox both give me the message that they "can't connect to the server," and Netscape says the "connection was not accepted." The problem websites I discoverd so far are nytimes.com, daypop.com, democracynow.org
I had monkeyed with some of my system settings including activating the firewall which I deactivated with no better results. I cannot remember if there
was anything else I did which could affect the web connections. I repaired permissions just in case--no change. It was suggested that I make one of the problem sites my home page on Safari--that did no good.
I sent a message to the NY Times via webmast@nytimes. com asking if there was some reason I should suddenly have a problem connecting--it didn't get spit back at me, but it has yet to be answered.
Out of ideas as to what else to try. Any help out there?
    Thanks.

Uh-oh. Very bad that so far NO ONE has any idea how to help. I've put up the question on a couple of Mac site forums which got me to the Network Utility. I tried using it but for the most part can't interpret the results. If posting them will enlighten anyone, I'd be glad to do that.
Someone suggested that I needed to use a different DNS. Now I'm into territory I don't really understand. I went to my ISP's support website and found the addresses of the primary and secondary DNS. My TCP/IP settings didn't require that I input any DNS address, but armed with them, I entered the secondary address and tried to connect again, but no luck.

  • Can't connect to certain websites from MacBookPro

I can't connect to my own website (hosted by a hosting service) from my MacBookPro. No other sites seem to be blocked; I just get an error telling me that the connection has timed out when I try to go to my site.
My son's windows machine connects over the household wifi to the site without problems. I've tried changing DNS settings, removing my network filter, repairing permissions, and am now in need of additional ideas to try.

  • Can't connect to HSBC website

This is weird but I can't connect to the www.hsbc.com.au website on my mac – I get an error that says "Safari can't open the page because because Safari can't connect to the server hsbc.com.au"
    - I am running OSX Leopard 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.2
    - I have no firewall or antivirus
    - All other websites are working on the mac
    - I CAN open the site from other computers in the house
    - It doesn't seem to be a Safari issue as the site won't open in internet explorer through Parallels either
    - The problems seem to have started when I turned on the firewall and installed Avast but I have deleted Avast and turned the firewall off with no success
    Any suggestions guys?

    Hi Everyone,
My connection with HSBC was fine, then I played with the OSX firewall and it became intermittant and finally became unaccessable.
I tried a few things that didn't work, but here are some things that did:
    - Run through a proxy: System Preferences>Network>Advanced>Proxies and added my proxy under Web Proxy (HTTP) and Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS). My ISP provided me with their proxy, and it shouldn't be hard to find yours.
Not happy with using the proxy I kept going and the latest solution (with proxies disabled) is to go to the OSX firewall: System Preferences>Security & Privacy>Firewall turn it on (you may need to click the lock button to make changes), the go into Firewall Options hit the + sign and navigate to, select, and click 'Add' for your web browser and make sure it says 'Allow incoming connections'.
    So far so good...

  • Can't connect to my website

I'm using Contribute CS3. After a reinstalling my system
software (Mac OS X), I had to create the connection to my website
again. However, when I entered the FTP information it would not
    establish a connection. I triple-checked the log-in info, and it's
correct. I was using it before without a problem. But it will not
establish a connection or allow me to upload any files. What can I
    do?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it wasn't much help. I am
able to ping my server successfully using Terminal, and as I
mentioned previously, I'm also able to establish an FTP connection
using Transmit (my FTP program). So the problem seems to be with
Contribute, or at least how it was configured.
This has happened before, but I don't remember how I resolved
it. I'm using a pretty new computer right now, and my settings
didn't get migrated over from my old computer. I started from
scratch. I'm not sure if that matters, but I thought I'd mention
    it.

  • Can't connect to 1 Website

    Very clearly here:
Only ONE website will not connect from this location.
From any other location the website connects. The website is fine, up and running with no problems.
No firewall settings are problematic (this is triple confirmed by both the ISP [comcast] and onsite).
No additional software on any machine at this problematic location (no "tweaks," plugins, nothing).
Only in one of my locations.
No machine in that location can connect to this one website.
With the exception of that one website, we can get to anywhere on the web.
Again, this problem does not exist in any other location.
We have run all manner of diagnostics at this location.
Has anyone had experience with this situation?
    Thanks,

    What location?

  • Can't connect to one website

My airport extreme n is preventing access to one specific website, for an educational institution.
I have confirmed that the problem is the router by plugging my computer directly into the modem and accessing the website.
I have tried restoring factory default settings but the problem persists.
Help! I need to access this website!
I am running OS10.6; I could imagine a problem in the interaction between my software and the router, but, as I said, I can connect to the website by bypassing the router, so the router is involved somehow.

yeah I see that traceroute.  Now if a proxy allows you in, then what is happening is that website has blocked the ip address you have in your router.   You may be able to call VZ tech support and have them break the lease on the ip address (you can use that verbiage) And then reboot the router, and you may get a new IP Address.   The new ip address won't be blocked by the website just like it isn't blocking the ip address from the proxy.
You can also try you're luck with rebooting the router, and trying to get a new ip, chances are it will grab the same ip address, or if you really don't want to call Verizon, you can leave the router unplugged for about 5-30 minutes, and then when you turn it back on, your hope is that it gets a new ip on it's own.
So verizon isn't technically blocking it, because if it was you would be blocked 100% from getting there, but the site can impose blocks to certain ip's or blocks of ips, and it sounds like they have blocked the ip that you have.

  • Can't connect to Azure Website via Studio 13.1

    Hello,
From the server explorer, I can connect to my Azure DB (see it visually under the Azure dropdown). But if I click 'Web Sites' it gives me a message saying I must install the sdk before I can't perform such a function.  When I go to install the sdk,
it says already installed.  It's just the websites feature I can't connect to azure for.
I redownloaded my publish settings, reinstalled, set up a new website, and now I have nothing.  Suggestions?

  • I can't connect to secure websites including Microsoft

Hi folks, well as you may have seen I had a bit of a job getting my 865 connected to the network/web at all, but I did!
Now I have a bizarre problem which though I have found some info on have not found a solution.
Let me just state that most people who seem to have had this prob are on XP SP". I am on XP SP1.
I am getting a page cannot be displayed if I try to connect to any Microsoft site, ie hotmail, msn or mcrosoft iysel. I also can't connect to Ebay.
I can connect to yahoo and my internet bank account.
I have virus aand spyware checked
    I don#t have a firewall.
I am on a dialup connection via a wireless network via a wireless network.
I have tried all the solutions I have seen on the microsoft site.
I will stop there in case this really is the wrong place to post this. However, it is a problem I don't have on any of the other computers on the network which includes XP, 98, laptops and desktops.
Interested in your comments, cheers, Epirb.

    Hi Guys,
Yes, I have tried all the steps on the belkin site, they are the same as the microsoft suggested.
I cannot check the verisign one, it will not load on the mega, it does so on all other computers on the network.
Yes I can get a sucessful connection to all sites with an ad hoc connection throught the host PC with a crossover cable.
ALL firewalls disabled whilst I sort this out.
Have not chased up the MTU issue, I am fairly convinced it is a red herring with a tiscali dial up connection (Ie no broadband, no AOL)
I have upgraded the firmware on my USR wireless acess point.
It has been not only a pain but made no difference.
I have tried various different network configurations, all to no avail.
I have a further question though. It seems that all the troubleshooting advice that I have been following relates to problems connecting to secure sites, ie ones with the prefix https:// I cannot connect to some http:// sites either, ie Ebay hotmail or plain old microsoft. Am I missing something here?
Anyone here with nothing better to do than review all this post and suggest where I may be missing something so very obvious it is embarrasing?
    Thanks for continued interest, Epirb.

  • Can't connect to internet through WRT54G

I can connect to the internet through DSL modem but cannot when going through the WRT54G.  All lights on router lit correctly.  Actually set up this router 6 months ago or so and worked both wired and wirelessly for awhile.  Then could only access internet wirelessly with laptop.  Started messing with the router to get it to work wired with desktop but now won't work.  Can access the router set-up page but not sure what to change.  Saw somewhere to change the routers IP address to 192.168.2.1  didn't solve the prblem.  Have tried restoring factory defaults, recommended power on/off sequences (modem, router,pc) and holding reset button for 30 seconds.  Also tried Easy connect tool on the Linksys site.  Icon in lower right of pc screen indicates status as connected but still cannot connect to internet.  Any help is very much appreciated.
    Scott

I had the very same problem with the same model router. It turned out to be the Security setting in Internet Options. The security setting was on Medium. After changing it to Medium-Low, I could connect to the internet through the router.
If you are not familiar with changing the Security setting, let me know and I will reply with the steps to take.

  • Can't connect to any website through Firefox (Connecting...), but Internet Explorer works.

I have had on and off problems with Firefox working, but up until now, restarting the computer solved the problem. Now it won't load any website for anything...it keeps circulating with "Connecting...". Internet Explorer works just fine and the internet is working with all other devices, the only thing I can find that may be impacting is that the internet has no IPv6 access (I have no clue though and the box is checked). I have tried all of the advice I have found on other similar posts such as disabling the IPv6 and the Prefetch through 'about:config', I restarted the computer multiple times, unplugged the router, checked the firewall and removed and re-added Firefox, cleared the cookies and cache, reinstalled Firefox, uninstalled Chrome.
Nothing seems to be getting me any closer to having Firefox up and connecting again.
As a side note, I only have been having those on and off problems, and this current problem, while connected to my home internet--other connections have had no problems. Also, I am using Norton Antivirus which is up to date and showing no problems at present.
Any ideas on how to fix?

Have you flushed the dns cache on the computer recently? It could be that it has stored the unsuccessful message.
