Can't connect to admin utility on WAP54G

I'm having a hard time connecting to the web-based admin utility on my WAP54G (v3.1). Even after resetting, I can't connect to 192.168.1.245.
Indeed it seems that the router isn't creating the usual masked 192.168.1.x network it usually does; when I do an ipconfig it gives the following, suggesting that it's just passing on the settings from the cable modem
Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:
        Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : hsd1.ma.comcast.net.
        IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 65.96.187.171

Holding the reset button appears to have no effect. Anyone know what's going on here?

The product which you have its and access point, its not an Router... And when your AP is connected to the Modem, then it will bypass its IP address and it will provide you the IP address given to you by Comcast... This way only your 1 computer will be able to go online from AP if its connected to the Comcast Modem...
To access the setup page of your AP, Hardwired the AP to the computer and assigne a Static IP to the AP i.e : 192.168.1.20, Subnet : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1..... Now you should be able to access the setup page of your AP...

Can't open AirPort Admin Utility configuration file

I'm using an AirPort Extreme Base Station connected to a cable modem through the WAN port and to my G4 Cube running OSX 10.2.8 through the LAN port. I also use an iBook and eMac with AirPort cards to wirelessly access my network. My problem is that I can not open the configuration file so that I can change my settings. I get an error message that AirPort Admin Utility can't read the configuration file of the base station. I tried resetting the base station to the factory settings, to no avail. So now I also can't set a password and encryption. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

To clarify--I previously had a password protected network set up and working. I wanted to change the settings and couldn't open the config file. I reset to factory settings successfully, but still can't open the config file, which I need to do in order to encrypt and set a new password. Thanks!

How can I get AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow 4.2.5 to work with OS10.6?

I've upgraded to the latest version of Mac OS and now AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow 4.2.5 won't run. Any suggestions on how to either run this utility or otherwise get access to my old Snow Dual Airport via another method? Airport Utility doesn't see the device, despite repeated scans. My computer and iPad connect no problem to the device, but both iPod and iPhone won't take and hold an IP address. (If any one can help me solve this issue, I can live without access the Airport.)

Unfortunately, you will need another Mac running a much earlier version of OS X to be able to install AirPort Admin Utility and make any settings chances to the router.
Since the normal life of a wireless router is around 5-6 years of use, now might be the time to consider a new router that will provide far better performance than the older Graphite/Snow AirPort.

I am currently connected to the internet via the Airport Express but thee Admin Utility can't see the Apple Network no matter what I do so I can't enable security - anyone have any suggestions.
Correction: I have just fixed the problem by using a second boot drive with no firewall

Computer can not read airport admin utility.

I am on the web, but I need to change my password so my PC can also connect via the airport. Although, when I try to change the settings of the airport I am either told the airport is not connected, or it will tell me that there was an error in communicating with the airport. What gives?

I did read your posts - but I'm not certain you followed the instructions (from the beginning) provided in link to the article "Starting from scratch". The advice provided in the link "Starting from scratch" begins by having you do a hard reset of the Airport Base Station before trying to run the Airport Admin Utility again. Sometimes doing this will finally allow the Airport Admin Utility to see and access the configuration of a Base Station when all other attempts to get the Airport Admin Utility to access the Base Station have failed. Any yes - I have indeed seen your problem posted many times over the past few years within the thousands of postings I have read in the Airport discussion forums on this web site.
If you did follow the instructions to hard reset the Base Station, and the Airport Admin Utility still fails to be able to access the Base Station then my apologies, and I'll have to admit I won't be of any help.

How can I get Airport Admin Utility to Locate My Extreme Base Station?

In an effort to repair some network connection problems I was having with my ISP (or so I thought), I reset my Airport Extreme Base station today. I have been unable to get it back to normal since. I'm currently connected to my ISP through an Ethernet connection directly from my modum to my iBookG4. Now, when I try to re-established the old network connections with my Airport Extreme, I cannt get the system to recognize a base station. When I use the Airport Admin Utility, the window pops up and *** me to select a base station, but there are none in the window. When I rescan, nothing comes up. The airport setuup utility has been no help either. Any ideas how to get my base station back? Thanks!

Thanks so much for your reply. I tried the direct connection, as suggested in a previous message I saw on this board. Didn't work for some reason. Lucky for me, one of my neighbors works in the tech department of a nearby Apple Store. Last night he was able to get the base station working again. I wish I could share how he did it on this message board, but it was beyond my modest understanding. Again, thanks for taking the time to reply!

No application showing in planning web & can't connect to admin console

Hi,
Planning web screen showing 'No aApplication available" even though I worked with planning application yesterday also and after that I am sure nobody have deleted that application. Also I can't login into essbase admin console as it is showing "cannot connect to administration server" though I have checked in services console that hyperion administration services is running.
One exception I got is shared services is not running. So I started that but after some time automatically went to stopped mode. Then I stopped all the services and restart the server and restart the services sequentially---- no hope. Same problem still there.
Can you please suggest how to solve the aforesaid?

Thanks for your reply. I have tried that but still the same error having in admin console. I have not craeted/modified anything in planning cluster in last some days. The problem is that all services is started properly except 'shared services' service. When I go to start that it is starting and showing started but after some time, automatically stopped. I also tried the following-----
1) Stopped all the other services except OpenLDAP
2) then started the shared services from start-> run-> hyperion-> foundation services-> start shared services
and got the error like---
Driver][Oracle]ORA-12505 Connection refused, the specified SID (xxxxx) was no
recognized by the Oracle server.
Database configuration test failed. Use Configuration Utility to configure the
atabase connectivity

Can't connect via Airport Utility

Just noticed that my shared USB drive wasn't connecting so I opened Airport Utility and got this message when trying to manually access my Airport Extreme:
Make sure your AirPort wireless device is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-6753)
Even after restarting the base station and my Mac Pro I receive that error. I am connected to it via ethernet. Thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

A full manual factory reset did the trick, yes.

Pull the power plug on the Extreme
Wait a moment
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in while you plug the power back in
Release the reset button after 10 seconds of plugging the power back in

Can not connect to Admin Console FMS 3.5 running separate Apache Server

Hi All! I have installed the FMS 3.5 Server on a separate IP from our main Apache Server: The server is running Redhat Linux 2.6.18-128.1.10.el5
FMS 3.5 running on ***.***.**.138 using ports 1935, 8080 (Admin Server using port 1111)
Apache 2 running on ***.***.**.139 using port 80, 443. (several sites setup on this IP)
However, when accessing the fms_adminConsole.htm in the root directory of one of the domains on ***.***.**.139, all login attempts fail. I am connecting to localhost and using the assigned user and password set up in fms.ini. Using either IP fails as well. The FMS server is set up to listen to all hosts as no specific IPs were set.
/var/log/messages show that FMS and the Admin Server are up an running and listening:

All other settings for FMS are default. This is my first time setting up FMS as a fresh install on a new unknown server and I am at a loss as to what settings to check or which files I may need to modify to get it to connect properly. It is a managed server is hosted by rackspace.com if that makes any difference.

Sorry for the confusion! *I* am the one really confused. But to answer your question (I hope), the webpage is on the same physical server as the FMS server, but I am using an outside network (I am not on the local server network) to browse the webpages.

Can not connect with ADMIN account

I've installed HTML DB on 10g, but when I open up http://localhost:7777/pls/ htmldb/htmldb_admin and put in password (which works on sqlplus) it says ID... is wrong?

HTMLDB got renamed to APEX.
You can upgrade your HTMLDB version to APEX fairly easily. You find the download here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/download.html
Installation instructions are included. You get so much more with the new version of APEX that I think it's really worth your time to do the upgrade.
About your login problem: can you try to login in the INTERNAL account with ADMIN? There's also a reset password available.

Can't connect to internet - UserName or password incorrect

I'm trying to re-establish my network that I had about a year ago. I went through the process of setting up the base station again, and I know it's password. Everything seems to be correct.
But when I try to connect to the internet, I get a error message in Internet Connect that says my user name or password is incorrect?
What user name or password? I know the base stations user name and password and can contact through the admin utility.
Any ideas?
Also, my iMac is configured to run directly from my SBC DSL modem. When I plug it into the Airport base station, it doesn't work anymore. Does anyone know of the right set-up doc that can guide me through the configuration?

Dansuz1, Welcome to the discussion area!
The Internet Connect is indicating that encryption is enabled on the network and the password you are using is incorrect.
I know the base stations user name and password and can contact through the admin utility.
That is a different password than the one used for encryption.

Internet Can't Connect

Ive heard some other people on the board that have this same issue. My airport express is correctly connected and everything. I loads up and turns green and shows that it is connected. Everything works and it says on internet connect that i am connected through airport and connect to the internet but when i try and use safari it just stays blank and can't load the pages. Also my internet normally works when i have my ethernet cable connected directly to my powerbook, so i am out of ideas.
If anyone has any ideas i would greatly greatly appreciate it. Thanx

Funny I had almost the exact same question. I think I found the answer, although I agree with you that the setup instructions (and frankly 99% of the posts on this board) are completely useless.
Make sure your iTunes software is currently NOT running on your PC.
First, you need to configure your airport express base station, and of course you cannot do that wirelessly if it is not being recognized by your network, so you must do it ... wired! Forget about the stupid message about using Windows to manage wireless networks - you're not going to need the Airport Express Assistant anyway. So, do the following:
Connect the Airport Express to one of the ethernet ports on your router. If you don't have a spare port or cable, disconnect one of your other devices (temporarily) and use that port or cable instead. Having done this, plug the Airport Express into a power outlet.
In your Airport programs folder, run the program called "Airport Admin Utility." Because your airport express is connected to your router, it should be visible here. It will have a name like "Base Station xxxxxx" and an (internal) IP address that was assigned by your router. It is probably the only base station on the list. Highlight it, and press Configure.
First, hit the Airport tab.
Change the password. You will be hassled to do this later anyway, so just do it now.
Second, on that same tab, under Airport Network, make sure that Wireless Mode is set to "Join an Existing Wireless Network (Wireless Client)" If you are using a secure wireless network, hit the Wireless Security button and make sure the settings agree with what you are using on your router. I don't use security, so I can't help you with detailed questions there.
Now take the network name from your router and copy this into the Network Name box on this same tab. (THIS IS THE REASON YOU WERE NOT ABLE TO CONNECT).
Next, hit the Internet tab, and make sure that Connect Using says "Wireless Network." Hopefully, your router uses DHCP, and if so, make sure that Configure says "Using DHCP"
Finally, hit the Music tab, make sure Enable Airtunes on this Base Station is checked, and give it a name (like Living Room or Home Stereo or whatever is appropriate). This is the name that will appear in your iTunes software.
Having done all this stuff, press the "Update button" and your airport express will be configured. The light should be green. It might flash yellow for a while, but it should eventually turn green. Once this happens, unplug it, and if you borrowed the cable/ethernet port from some other device, put it back the way it was. You can kill the Airport Admin Utility program at this time.
Now take your airport express to any other power outlet within range of your wireless router, and plug it into the wall. Again, it will probably cycle through various light combinations for a while, including flashing yellow, but it should eventually settle on solid green. When this happens, plug in a pair of powered speakers or something that is connected to a set of inputs on your home stereo or whatever. Go to your PC and start the iTunes software. On the bottom of the iTunes window, near the right, should be a button that allows you to choose which speakers to play over. One of the choices should be the name you gave to the airport express. Choose this, cue up some music, and enjoy.

Console cannot connect to Admin Server in a local network

This issue may has been asked before, but I didn't find corresponding answer. So I ask again:
The Directory server 5.2 P4 is running on Windows XP and a console running on the same server (192.168.1.80) works fine. However second console which is running on 192.168.1.50 can not connect to admin server. Error message is:
Cannot connect to the Admin Server "http://homeserver.keiban.com:5201/" The URL is not correct or the server is not running.
I noticed that if I use http://192.168.1.80:5201 to connect admin server instead of http://homeserver.keiban.com, it took 10 seconds to show Initialization Failure:
Connect connect to the Directory Server "ldap://homeserver.keiban.com:5200" LDAP error: failed to connect to server ldap://homeserver.keiban.com;5200 Would you like to attemt to restart the Directory Server?
In Control Panel -> Windwos Firewall -> Exceptions, I have added port number 5201 for Sun ONe Admin Server 5.2 on TCP.
In etc/host file, an entry is already added:
192.168.1.80 homeserver.keiban.com homeserver
Both computers are in a local network and via cable DSL to connect to Internet. Is there some thing I am missing?

client and Server.Victor, you are right! I setup FQDN on server properly, but forgot to have FQDN setup to map FQDN to IP address on client. So the Console goes to Internet to find the directory server in which it causes failure.

AirPort Express - can't connect wirelessly after set up

Hi,
I've had an AirPort Express for about 4 months now to stream music wirelessly within my home network (inc. wireless router).
The connection with the AirPort Express has always been.....problematic when streaming through iTunes or AirFoil the connection drops out often and many times it's given up entirely.
I thought I'd solved this problem by plugging in an ethernet cable and resetting the device to factory defaults and setting up from scratch. However, once I unplugged the ethernet cable I can't connect via Airport util wirelessly at all.
After reading the manual from cover to cover, again I thought it could have been a problem with where the airport express was located (fairly near the stereo and close to a couple of power cables.
I moved the device to a plug socket on its own with no electrical devices within a metre of the device and nothing plugged into it. I plugged in the ethernet cable and went through the set up from factory defaults again. When the device restarted I could briefly (for a couple of seconds) connect to it wirelessly before it could no longer be recognised by Airport utils. I can access the device via ethernet cable, but wireless (which is why I bought it in the first place) will not work.
Tried soft resets, hard resets, restoring it to factory defaults and am now at the end of my tether.
Can someone please help me with this?

Hello, Im not a techie, but, if its the same thing as I have....the ethernet port is for your ISP WAN cable. Your laptop should connect wirelessly. After resetting the router, use Airport Utility to rename it, set up a password for the router and the wireless network before other things.
This line from your post throws me for a loop ). "However, once I unplugged the ethernet cable I can't connect via Airport util wirelessly at all." I'm not sure what to make of that, unless you connected your laptop to router with a cable and tried to connect wirelessly also.
Anyway,,,,,on the express router there is a ethernet port for your ISP WAN connection, a usb port for printer and a jack to connect your stereo. Your laptop should connect to the router wirelessly.

HT1338 How do I update osx 10.4.8 if the network admin utility is not compatible with my apple airport extreme and I an't connect to the internet?

I was given an iMac desktop computer, operating system OSX 10.4.8 (2011). The network admin utility is not compatiable with my airport extreme router, and I am unable to connect to the internet to update the software. Can someone please tell me how to update the software or download a newer version on the network admin, or how to connect this computer to the internet?

This linksys bridge is the safest solution since it doesn't require any Mac OS drivers.
Airport ExpressAirport Express is an external unit and you can configure it as a bridge. 802.11n ( I bevieve you will need a more modern version of Mac OS X to configure. Sadly, Apple uses a configuration program to configure, not a web browser. )
