You cannot connect at a wi-fi hotspot, or on a secure network? Do you show any signal strength? Do you show any available networks?

Trouble connecting to Airport after installing latest security update

Hi, I have just spent an hour with a level 2 SBC DSL tech and they could not resolve my problem. The problem is this: After installing the latest security update released on March 13 for OS 10.3.9, I can no longer securely connect to my airport. It may have something to do with the keychain because this has happened several times before, most recently after the previous security update about 2 weeks ago. Usually after much playing around, I get a window asking for permission for my new network settings to access the keychain. Once I say yes, all works fine. This time, I am not getting that prompt. Even though I have a full signal showing I am connected to the base, it will not pick up and IP address. Finally, the SBC tech had me disable the wireless key on the desktop pc that is the primary computer on the system and immediately my connections works. If I enable the wireless security key, I lose the connection. As I am completely open to hackers with the wireless security disabled, this is a big problem. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE can anybody help me?! Thank you so much for your help!

I too experienced this problem this evening, after applying the latest security update to Panther. I had verified that the wireless base station was working correctly and that it's WEP key hadn't become corrupted. There were no error messages after re-starting the Mac, just no IP number via airport.
The keychain utility would hang if any attempt was made to alter the password for WEP, and the airport utility hung too. I used Disc Utility to verify permissions, which found dozens of errors - haven't done any maintenance for months - and fixed them.
On re-starting, Airport was 'OFF' so turned it on, was asked to allow access to keychain, and all is working again.
Thank you to those of you who posted the suggestion about permissions, you certainly saved my evening!

Ever since I updated the firmware on my Airport I can't connect to it any more. I'm pretty sure I installed everything properly and reset the Airport several times but still no luck in connecting to it. Any suggestions?

Firmware updates on the Express sometimes results in scrumbled settings.
Check that WiFi is disabled on your MacBook.
Then connect (preferabely with a LAN-Cable) the MacBook to the Express.

Anyone please help. I can't seem to connect to the server, 192.168.1.1 after installing the router. Prior to installation it worked fine. Weird thing is I can connect to the internet through the router and stuff, just can't access the server. Help... thanks

First of all check the physical connection....From modem to the router on internet port and from the computer to the router on ethernet port1...Power light shoul be solid and there should be wlan,internet and ethernet port1 light.
Now check for the ip address...Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway... IP Address should be 192.168.1.x, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...
If you get the above mentioned IP Address, Subnet and Gateway Address then you should ping the Gateway, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...If it gives you request timed out then disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer...
If you are not getting the correct ip address then, Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

Can't find backup data after installing iTunes 10.5.2

I replaced my iPhone4 after encountering some problems and sync my iPhone (did not logged in my Apple ID) before having my iPhone replaced.
After plugging in the replacement iPhone, iTunes prompts that my current version of iTunes can't work with the software version (5.0...) of my replacement iPhone and asked that iTunes 10.5 be downloaded.
After running iTunes 10.5, my replacement iPhone starts syncing with iTunes 10.5 and backup the replacement iPhone. But last sync data from my earlier iPhone is gone!
Called local support and asked to 'authorise this computer' but still could not locate the backup file. The last backup file was the one from my replacement iPhone.
All my contacts and especially family pictures were gone.
Anyone can help?

Problems Connecting to Store after installing iTunes 7.5

I purchased a new ipod nano and once i connected it to my PC i was told my new ipod was not compatible with my version of itunes. I downloaded the latest version of itunes and now i am unablet o connect to my account or the store.
previously i had no issues....I have used itunes for years now and until now have not seen this issue....my conection has not changed or been modified and i am still able to surf the net....what could be the issue?

Is the install of Leopard on the G5 and MacBook Pro an upgrade install or a clean install?
Try some simple maintenance to see if this resolves it:
1. Run Repair Disk Permissions (Disk Utility)
2. Go to Network Utility and go to Ping enter in www.cnn.com and see if the packets are received/sent. This is just to see if you can get to the outside so to speak
3. See if your cable modem manfacturer has a leopard upgrade. Sometimes hardware companies need to upgrade their firmware when new Operating systems come out

Can not connect to Airport after Lion

I just updated my MacBook to Lion and now it will not let me connect to my airport. None of the setting changed on the airport. It just stoped connecting. I can however log on to it with my iPad. Any ideas?

Do you get an IP Address when you check under System Preferences->Network->WiFI ?
What wireless router are you using ? (make /model)
Did you try deleting the network from Preferred Network's and then re-joining the network ?
Did you try a SMC reset ? Some folks have suggested it helping.
When you scan for networks by clicking on the WiFI Menu Extra, does it see your wireless network ? What happens if you attempt to join this network ?
Also check if the password is correct in Keychain Access App. You could try deleting this network in Keychain Access and try to connect again.

HELP - I can't copy my photos after installing iTunes 7!!!!!!!

Have bought iPod video and installed included iTunes. All was going well till I,ve upgraded iTunes to v. 7. If try upload (sync photos with folder) I'm getting message: "some your photos were not copied because they cannot be displayed on your iPod". They are the same kind of photos made using the same camera wchich I've copied using earlier version of iTunes. I've reinstalled application, tried to change size of photos etc without results. Where's the solution? Anybody can help me? I'll feel gratefull!!!!

Ussualy this happens because the picture file is in the wrong format. If you have some sort of photoshop, open the files with that and re-save them as .jpg (.JPEG) files. This should work.

TS2363 Hi Guys! Can someone tell me why after installing itunes V 10.7.0.21 and Quicktime 7.73.80.64 I can no longer get a movie to play. I completely deleted all programs to do with itune then reinstalled all the latest version back into my desktop.

When I start itunes up and click on a movie I get an error message: saying something about Quicktime error! How can this be if I have the latest version.
I'm running Windows 7 on a desktop and before the upgrade of itunes every movie played. Today I bought a new movie and it said I needed the upgraded version of itunes for it to play. What a mess. Any help appreciated.

had similiar problem with update in september. did the uninstall and reinstall procedure twice and still no luck. finally I just dragged the movie ontop of quicktime and dropped. clicked the play button and movie played fine. hope this helps.

Can't connect to database after installing Forms6i

I have Oracle8i EE installed on RH6.2. The database was working fine until I installed Forms6i. Now when I try to start the listener I get the following error: TNS-01150: The address of the specific listener name is incorrect. I have checked the listener.ora file and everything seems correct.
I am also getting the following error when I try to connect to svrmgrl: Error in loading shared libraries.
If anyone could help me with these problems I would greatly appreciate it.

Did you install Forms in a separate home?
Check your ORACLE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH. If you want to use lsnrctl or svrmgrl your ORACLE_HOME should be set to the home your database software is installed in. It should be set to $ORACLE_HOME/lib.

In order to download iTunes 10.7, which requires OS X 10.6.8, you have to buy OS X 10.6. It's available from the online Apple store, in the US by calling 800-MY-APPLE, or online here. After OS X 10.6 installation, run Software Update until there are no more updates available, at which point you'll be at OS X 10.6.8 and can install iTunes 10.7.

8.1 can't shut down after installing itunes

I recently reformatted and did a clean install of window's 8.1
I have done all updates, both windows and drivers and the machine is very smooth and stable.
After installing iTunes the computer will no longer shut down, it displays the logging off / shutting down screen but then just reboots.
I have attempted numerous resolutions to no avail, i.e. disabled NIC as bootable device, disabled the hybrid boot feature & flashed and tweaked some BIOS settings.
The computer will not even shut down when I give the command "shutdown /s /t 0"
I only had Windows Office and iTunes installed on the computer and suspecting that iTunes may be the culprit, I uninstalled it and now the computer shuts down without any issue.
I have since read several threads about iTunes and shutdown/restart issues with 64 bit versions of Windows although I have not found anyone else with my exact issue.
Is anyone aware of a resolution for this?
For now I will need to install iTunes so I can sync my phone and then uninstall so I can shut down!

Fingers crossed there will be an update for this, I was lucky that my install so was new that there weren't very many things that could have caused it because I don't think it would have ever occurred to me that iTunes was the issue.
I literally tried every other possibility before waking up in the middle of the night and realizing that the problem started right after I installed iTunes.
I have had issues with Apple software in the past where I attempt to disable it from launching automatically when I boot the computer and it will simply create another entry for itself in the startup list.
If I disable that one it makes another, and another and another.... It's like the freaking Apple hydra.
The want me to know how much I need them! lol
