Can't connect to an ac.uk address.

I Have had huge problems with internet connection recently. Im back online again with the help from an apple advisor but my computer wont connect to an ac.uk address - just says 'problem loading page' and 'server not found'. I can connect to this address using my android phone quite easily. Do I need to change any settings on my Mac? All other pages seem to be working fine.
Thanks.

  • Can't connect to a specific web address

I have a MacBook Pro using version 10.4.11 software. It is the 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo model. I use a wireless Airport Extreme and have had no problems ever until now. My son plays hockey and his team has a website that I have been able to connect to since I bought this computer. About a month ago after the latest Safari update, I can no longer connect to this websites server. It is the only site that I cannot get. I brought it to the Apple store and had one of there Geniuses look at it and all that happened was they lost all of my itunes, pictures, keychain info, etc. Very frustrating experience with them and I still can't get the site. Any suggestions

Sig is right. The basic Flip4Mac is free, and works to allow most playback of wmv. You only need to purchase it if you want to convert wmv into something else, or visa versa. I'd call F4M customer support to get a refund, if you don't want it, or to sort out registering it correctly, if you do.
About your other issue; those pages seemed to load fine for me. The mxi98 page started playing an audio clip of a song after it loaded. Nothing too weird looking about the pages.

  • Can't connect to a single external IP address

I'm having the same problem as this other person is having,
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7072594
Basically, I've tried everything and I can't connect to this one IP Address: 206.212.255.34
I take the router out of the equation and I can connect just fine, connecting directly through my cable modem.
I know it's not a DNS issue as DNS is not even being used, it's a direct connection to the IP address.
In the thread above, that person couldn't connect to twitter.com and it was blocked for no apparent reason.
I can't connect to this IP address for no apparent reason.
    Things I've tried:
    resetting the router completely
changing the dhcp -> manual and setting the IP and using 255.255.255.0 as a subnet mask
changing the IPv6 to both alternate modes (it's presently set to link-only)
setting a DMX for my ip address
setting a static IP address for my computer
and I've tried just about everything I can think of, those are just some specifics.
anyone else having a similar or same issue?

I'm not talking about anything incoming, I'm talking about external.
My home computer -> external network across the Internet
I know how to use port mapping and DMX and all that, I know networking.
I've been trying to debug this for about 3 weeks now and I can't find a single solution.
It's only going OUT to that IP address that I can't connect, going through the airport extreme.
outbound withOUT using the router, it works just fine.
I appreciate any light you can shed on why my airport extreme is blocking my access to this single IP address, it's quite frustrating
    thank you

  • Can't connect to server with Server app

    Hye
When I try to login to my server, it is in the servers list in the 'other mac' page (as jsmini.jorestha.be), but I can't login using that item. I can however log in using Other Mac item, typing in its intranet IP address... I can't connect with the real IP address either. Does this have anything to do with the settings? It used to work fine...
    Thanks in advance,
    Rugen Heidbuchel

See if the IP addresses and the domain names involved are resolving locally, and without having Server.app involved.  If there are multiple DNS servers listed in the DNS resolving settings of the Mac client, and some are not on the local network, then apparently-weird problems can happen with a variety of tools.

  • Airport Express won't connect to ONLY ONE IP-address (website)

This is driving me crazy !!!
I'm using a Airport Express (Firmware 6.3) and a G5 (1.8 DP). My internet connection through Airport works fine, but... I can't connect to ONLY ONE IP-address. No PING no nothing. Coincidently it's my own website! HELP!
When I connect my G5 directly with a cable, everything works fine.
I've given the Airport a 'Factory reset' but even this won't help. It looks like the Airport is blocking only my own website/IP-address.
    Is there any solution?

I have exactly the same problem. I have been going crazy for the last two days. I upgraded and downgraded the AE firmware and nothing. I reset it to factory defaults and reconfigure it from start and nothing. All my 3 macs (G3,G4, and the macbook pro) are having the same problem and it happened at the same time for no apparent reason. From my house (were the AE is) I can access any IP except the one were my server lives (outside my house at the university). I cannot even access the university web site or my mail using IMAP from Mail.app. Traceroute ends in some place outside the university. Have you found a solution? I might have to ditch AE if this continues.

  • I have just downloaded OSX Mavericks and am having a lot of problems with my iCloud account. I get a message "this iMac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with (and then it quoted my e-mail address) Does anybody know what the problem could be??

As mentioned above I have just downloaded OSX Maverick to my iMac. I am now having a lot of problems with iCloud. I get the message that "This iMac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with, and then it goes on to quote my e-mail address. It then says to open iCloud preferences to fix this problem.
I do this and no matter what I seem to do this message continues to return.
Can anybody explain how to resolve this problem (please bear in mind that I am noy very computer literate).
    Many thanks

  • Lion Server: iOS 5 clients can't connect to Address Card Server

I have set up shared accounts on the server for Calendar and Address Book (family) sharing. Although I can add and use the Address Book shared account on OS X Lion clients, I can't get this to work on iOS 5 clients (iPhone nor iPad). I keep on getting "CardDAV account verification failed".
Calendar sharing works just fine on both OS X and iOS5 clients
Let me briefly describe my setup and observations:
    Server:
Running Lion Server 10.7.2 on Mac Mini (server)
Using SSL connections with keys generated during set-up of the server
Portforwarding in router (ao) for 8008 and 8843 (iCal and Address Book)
Created  shared accounts on server for Calendar ("sharedcalendar") and Address Book ("sharedcontacts")
In the DNS server I created services in my primary zone for "_caldavs._tcp." and "_carddavs._tcp." both on port 8443
    OS X Client (Calendar)
Created additional CalDAV account in preferences (user "sharedcalendar")
Left the server settings untouched (server path, port "auto" and using SSL but not Kerberos)
Created in "sharedcalendar" different calendars and reminder lists for the family members which each can access from their OS X client
This account is now set-up through Profile Manager (tried this with Address Book as well but didn't make any difference)
    iOS 5 Client (Calendar)
Once tested on standalone and got this working I'm now using the Profile Manager to push the definition of the shared account to all clients
    Hostname with port 8443 (default)
Left Principal URL blank since it was optional
User "shared calendar" with the appropriate password
    Ticked "Use SSL"
    OS X client (Address Book)
Created additional CardDAV account in preferences (user "sharedcontacts").
Left the server settings untouched (port 443 using SSL)
    iOS 5 client (Address Book)
In the settings add a CardDAV account (server, user "sharedcontacts", password, description).
First error message "Cannot connect Using SSL. Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?". When I press continue I get the error "CardDAV account verification failed"
If I then save the account details still and edit the account I can access the "advanced settings". When I change to SSL I have tried port 0 (default value), 8443 (the one that's listed in the documentation) and 8843 (which is used by default if you try to set up the
account in Profile Manager). All to no avail, including Profile Manager
    Observations:
Lion Server app nicely lists both Calendar and Address Book Server as active (plus Profile Manager, File Server, Web server and Wiki server)
When I access my server home page, Calendar is listed in addition to other services (Mail | Calendar | Change Password | Profile Manager) but not Address Book. Is this normal behaviour? i.e. can't Address Book entries be changed through a web interface?
Address Book on OS X client uses 443 for SSL but does not require me to define port 8443 for secure iCal or Address Book server communications
Lion Server Profile Manager specifies port 8843 as port for SSL communication. I only saw 8443 listed in documentation
The response "can't connect .." or "account verification failed" happens very quick which make me think either the verification doesn't even leave the iPad or there is something wrong in the SSL connection
Since iCal set-up works nicely using the same ports I am puzzled why it doesn't work for Address Book
Your solutions or suggestions how to investigate are most welcome,
    Erik

    Thanks for joining the discussion.
Although port 8443 is mosten quoted as correct port for CalDAV and CardDAV, port 8843 can be found both on Apple's website and other places:
see Technical Note 1649 to find port 8443 listed for iCal and port 8843 for Address Book
Mac OS X Lion Server for Dummies (sic) lists port 8843 on pages 236 and 238 but port 8443 in many other places
when you want to push iCal and Address Book information with Profile Manager, Profile Manager lists port 8443 for iCal but port 8843 for Address Book as default:
So I hope you understand I'm somewhat puzzled.
I did get the Address Book working for my Lion desktops with the all the necessary certificates as far as I know, just not for the iOS devices (iPhone and IpPad). iCal sharing from Lion Server works fine on both Lion and iOS devices.

  • Can't connect wireless due to "self-assigned IP address"

I recently switched from PC to Macbook. I cannot log on to many wifi networks I could previously access with my ThinkPad. The computer successfully finds the network and has a strong signal but will not connect. Under network status, I get a message that says something like "Your Macbook is connected to the wireless network but AirPort has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the network."
Ive tried various options but still no luck. This mostly happens in public Wi-Fi networks such as internet cafes, airports and Starbucks' T-Mobile networks. Thanks!

Can you connect to any wireless location? Or does not fail only in certain places? If you can't connect anywhere, it is your problem. If you can connect in some places but not others, it is their problem.
It wouldn't surprise me if there is some new, cheap vendor of wireless access points that doesn't do the network settings correctly and only Windows machines will connect to it.
You were a ThinkPad owner, so you weren't a typical PC user anyway. Most of them use PCs only because they are cheap, cheap, cheap. Is it 3.29 cheaper than a Mac? Buy it! Those people are now making cheap wireless access turnkey solutions. I have seen people like that before. Just because there are hundreds of millions of pounds of equipment depending on the software, or people's lives, doesn't mean they know how to do networking. They may be so incompetent they don't know they are incompetent. Those types typcially would never, ever think to test their product on a Mac.

  • Can't connect to internet..self assigned ip address problem with DSL Modem

I've run into this before, without resolution, and now again on a friend's iMac. Time to ask around...
Basically, everything appears to be assigned and configured perfectly, but the network status always shows, "...you have a self assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet". Sure can't connect to the net when it says that.
I've gone thru the procedure advise before that details the sequence of events needed to insure the modem resets and recognizes the Mac and it's incoming DSL (sbcglobal) signal. The order of network priority is set properly by dragging built in ethernet to the top of the list. Modem was powered down, plugged in, and then connected to the Mac, but no solution. Any ideas? thanks

This continues to be a mystery. I've had my powerbook on several networks, and connection has, most of the time, been an automatic process. Additionally, I've installed new systems for people with the same isp, and all has been well. So easy is the process, it's never been an issue. However, following explicit procedural instructions (including powering the Mac down), has proven unsuccessful on 2 different occasions.
There is little help with the isp support in India, which is where the call routes too.
The only thing I have not done is to swap out the cable at one of the locations, but the other location, which has the same issue, works fine on the iMac there. Only when I connect my Powerbook to the modem, does the "...self assigned ip address...not be able to connect to the internet" appear.
I just keep thinking there has got to be a small detail that is being overlooked.

  • Airport: Self-assigned ip address, can't connect (public routers only)

this has been talkeda bout before, but is extremely frustrating, because i don't have the problem with a PC.
1/2 of the public routers i connect to have some kind of login page, most the time they just say "youre getting free internet, click here" ... but sometimes that login page never comes up, and the network card says "airport has a self-assigned ip address and may not be able to connect to the internet"
this only happens on pulic routers for me, and only ones that have login pages.
its very odd because for example, starbucks has all the same routers, all are "attwifi" now .. i go to one, i get hte login screen, go to a different one, i don't get it...and can't connect
with a PC, i get it every time.
this is undoubtably a leopard problem, that needs to be fixed. please!

The wifi icon shows no connection with the network -- the "!" mark.
However the computer sees the network, i.e. when I search in Network Preferences the network is listed.
So: 1) the computer sees the network but 2) will not connect to the network. The reason given for refusal to connect is "self-assigned IP address".
Not to be repetitive but two other Mac laptops are connected to the same network and working perfectly. The network preferences, as shown in the "advanced" section, are the same for all machines, i.e. DHCP is selected and IPv6 is Automatic.

  • Self-assigned ip address -- can't connect to Airport

I have a 2006 MacBook Pro which recently started exhibiting the exact same behaviour as reported by another poster in 2011:
For some reason the computer has started self-asigning its IP address and Network Preferences says that, because of the self-assigned IP, i cannot connect to the network.
I have two other Macs connecting to the same Air Port with no issues and I've tried to duplicate those settings on the MacBook Pro but still get the "self-assigned ip" message
Tried re-setting SMC and PRAM, no change.
The only change to my wireless setup was the change from a Verizon-owned modem to an owned Motorola unit (but the MacBook Pro connected successfully, many times, after the change).
I didn't knowingly change anything on the MacBook Pro -- from one day to the next it just stopped connecting.
I'm really at a loss to understand what's going on and, of course, not happy that the MacBook Pro can't connect to my network anymore! Help!

  • Local Account can't connect to address server

Hi there, since a few days my addresses and calendar are not synced anymore. I found out, I can't connect with my local accounts to my local mac os x server mavericks on the same machine anymore. The same days I changed something on my security and firewall settings, maybe there is a problem. Anyone knows, what I have to do, please?
The following error messages are printed in console log:
04.08.14 05:09:22,738 com.apple.preferences.internetaccounts.remoteservice[27121]: [CardDAVPlugin-ERROR] Unable to find additional info dictionary for key: /principals/__uids__/E276D199-408C-44EA-AA27-9AA0142D3B47/

Now I have the first Part of the solution. First I had to empty the Folder ~/Library/Caches/ . Than I deleted the File ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetaccounts_old.plist . Not sure, the last one is necessary. And third step was, I recreated the accounts from inside iCal and the Address Book.
But now I still can't connect from my iPhone to the Server... Any suggestions?

  • E3000 - WVC210 Cam - Can't Connect Using IP Address

I've searched here and on portforward.com and have read all FAQ's for a solution to my problem with now luck. Prior to contacting Tech Support via telephone thought that I'd try a post here first.
I've had a Linksys WVC54GCA IP Camera running through my E3000 wireless router with zero issues for quite some time. I just added a Cisco WVC210 PTZ IP Cam. My setup went flawlessly and both cameras are operatng independently of one and other and I am able to view both cameras using my DYNDNS.com supplied Web Host URL's away from home and both camera's are working great on my iPhone 3GS.
I have assigned fixed IP addresses to both camera's. 192.168.1.200 for the the WVC54GCA and 192.168.1.201 for the WVC210. I have setup the Port Range Forward as follows:
    Cam1 80 to 80 Both 192.168.200
    Cam1 1024 to 1024 Both 192.168.1.200
    Cam2 1025 to 1025 Both 192.168.1.201
Here's the thing I don't understand. Again, both cams do what they're supposed to, except; on my home network I can connect directly to the older WVC54GCA using its 192.168.1.200 fixed ip address. I CAN NOT connect directly  to the new WVC210 using its fixed ip address of 192.168.1.201. I get an IE error.
I have a feeling that there's something I'm not doing on the router or it has something to do with being on port 1025. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think there is any issue with the port 1025 for the second camera.
The port 1025 will be used to see the camera from outside.
If you are able to see both the cameras from out side that means both the cameras are configured properly and working fine.
What error message do you get when you try to see the camera using the IP address of the camera?
Try using another browser and check if you can see the camera in the network.
Try to ping the IP address of the camera. if you get replies from the camera IP address then your computer is able to communicate with the camera.
What is the operating system on your computer?
