Can't connect to Apache Server Remotely
I have set up Apache on Port 81 and I have set up port forwarding for 81 and 433 on my router but I can't seem to connect to Apache from another computer. My username is in http group.
The only way I can connect is by localhost:81
If I try ipaddress:81 I get can't establish a connection to the server.
Anyone have any ideas.
Thanks in advance!!

Sorry for all the confusion.
I just want to view Apache through a Web Browser from another machine.
I have set the port to 81 because 80 is taken by my router configuration.
If I type localhost:81 in the URL bar I can view my web server but if I type my ip address:81 it doesn't work.
No worries, this is just what I wanted. Try editing and adding to the bottom of the file /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Listen YOUR_IP_ADDRESS:81
<VirtualHost IP_ADDRESS_HERE:81>
ServerName YOUR_SERVER_NAME
ServerAdmin YOUR_EMAIL_ADDRESS
DocumentRoot PATH TO YOUR HTML FILES
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule /(.*) https://YOUR_IP_ADDRESS:433/$1
</VirtualHost>
<VirtualHost IP_ADDRESS_HERE:433>
ServerName YOUR_SERVER_NAME
ServerAdmin YOUR_EMAIL_ADDRESS
DocumentRoot PATH TO YOUR HTML FILES
TransferLog /var/log/httpd/local.access.log
ErrorLog /var/log/httpd/local.error.log
</VirtualHost>
I don't know if the 433 will be the secure part of your page but to have a cert attached to that, you will have to add a bit more to the VirtualHost related to 433 (you can read more about it at this link: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/ssl/ssl_faq.html). All the parts with CAPITAL LETTERS are parts where you will probably want to add in whatever relates to your set up.
I noticed that by default, apache hosts all of their files in /srv/http so you can place all your files in there or another location (its really up to you).
After any change to the httpd.conf file, you must restart or reload the httpd service located in /etc/rc.d/httpd
Hope this helps.
::EDIT:: What 'JuseBox' is probably a great place to check as well. If your /etc/hosts.allow or /etc/hosts.deny is in play, you want to make sure you aren't denying everything or only allowing specific things into your apache server. Good call JuseBox!

my apple TV second generation can not connect to the Itunes store. I keep getting a message saying. Apple TV can't Connect to the server at this time. Please try later. Is it on my end or is there an issue on Apples side? I can see previews and such but can not buy or rent anything
I have four Apple TV's in my home, and I get this message all the time. What is intersting, is when it occurs on one,it occurs on ALL four simultaneously. We also have two iMacs, two iPads, and three iPhones, all use the same apple I'd and password, those other devices connect to iTunes just fine when this occurs with the TV's. I too can also watch previews, use Netflix, etc.
It is clearly a gremlin specific to iTunes and Apple TV's, and your account. Re booting the TV does work.
I am forever rebooting Apple TV's, as well as forever returning them for free replacements as they experience a variety of problems, locked screens, failure to pair with a remote, etc.
Apple knows the fix for this is a reboot, so why is that not an express lane answer??
Very frustrating devices, ITunes does have the best content, and the highest prices. But I suggest use your apple tv for watching Netflix at $8 / month rather than $5 / movie. Especially when they do not seem to care enough to fix bugs like this so we can enjoy the pleasure of overspending for their content without extreme frustration.
Imagine three kids with Apple TV's in their room. (we do not have cable). A thousand "Dad, can you come fix my Apple TV again".
Signed, the 24 hour on call IT man because I was stupid enough to invest in so much apple product.
Bottom line? Anytime anything goes wrong with your Apple TV, it's not you as long as you have Internet, it's Apple, reboot when in doubt, or unplug and replug, even better. -
Can't connect to AFP server via Finder sidebar
Suddenly I can't connect to my server from the sidebar.
Guest access works. But my default user login returns "Connect failed".
I can connect via 'Connect to...' and type in the IP adres.
I can connect via iPad with a file sharing app (like ezShare)
The console returns:
Jul 29 04:54:39 myComputer NetAuthSysAgent[774]: AFP error -5014 mapped to EIO
Jul 29 04:54:39 myComputer Finder[282]: SharePointBrowser::handleEnumerateCallBack returned 5
I've tried temporary deleting the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration folder... no help.
Any ideas?Try this:
Uncheck Remote Management
Check Screen sharing
Add user(s)
When finished check the remote management again.
It has something to do with updating / resetting the cache files...
It worked for me.

RF's can't connecting to terminal server.
Hello,
I having trouble with my new terminal server. I am using RF's (intermec & motorola) in my business and We have two terminal servers that is running with 2008r2 standard. RF's can connect to first terminal server unproblematic but can't connect
to other one and getting error as "Because of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer, verify that you are logged on the
network, and then try connecting again"
I can connect to all terminal servers with my domain computer via remote desktop connection.
Own enterprise network has PEAP-WPA2 user authentication
Rf's are not in the domain.
I need help from you.
Thanks.Hello everyone,
We found a solution regarding this case with microsoft team. Solution is in the following.
Issue Statement:
Cannot connect RF scanner to a particular server using RDP.
Symptoms:
> The RF scanners are Intermec CK3R devices with windows embedded handheld 6.5 classic installed on them. They fail to connect to
a particular server using RDP. However, same user and device can successfully connect to another server. The server to which the device fails to connect is TRKKTA01-N.
> Never been able to connect to the problem server.
> Both the good and the bad server are Windows 2008 R2.
> The Devices are connecting using per user licenses.
> We can connect to the problem server using a Fat client like Windows 7 machine with the same user ID.
> both the Problem server and the working server are in the same network but on different VLANs.
> On the Scanner, when trying to RDP user gets the following error:
"Because of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer, verify that you are logged on the network, and
then try connecting again"
> Already different encryptions have been tried but the connection still fails.
Environment:
RDS server is Windows 2008 R2. Clients are Intermec CK3R devices and OS is Windows embedded handheld 6.5 classic.
Scope Agreement:
We will close the case once we find the cause of the RDP failure and provide a possible fix for it.
If the problem is found to be due to third-party code we will provide information to substantiate this.
Case Status: Resolved.
Steps used to resolve the issue were:
1. Create the following reg key on the license server:
Use512LenPropCert on the Server
Subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\RCM
Registry entry: Use512LenPropCert
Data type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1
2. De-activate the license server
3. Re-activate the server using the telephone method
4. Delete the x509 cert keys from the terminal servers

Error: Can't connect to auth server at /var/run/dovecot/auth-master: No such file or directory
error showing up, there is no auth-master file in /var/run/dovecot
this has just happnened over night
any ideas how to re-install dovecot
google search goes on about linux but barely any info about max osx serverauth-master is created when you start the mail service. Deleted if you stop the mail service. If that is not happening, you may have to re-install mail. Dovecot is the IMAP/POP part of the mail service. I am not sure what happens if you disable IMAP. I am guessing it is not there. But that is the extent of any tips I can offer. I suppose you could reinstall, but that seems a bit extreme to me.

Please help!!Fascinated and guessing:
Something related to sock(2) because that's not part of your copied info. I'm thinking you've doubled up on sockets and the second socket doesn't exist, meaning you should be connecting to the first socket "mysqld.sock" whether automatic or not.
I've only used GUI tools on purpose, so does this mean you've already got MySQL running and you tried to launch it again manually? Perhaps you already have one instance of a db and you're trying to launch a second instance, and the two can't coexist with a single user local db?
Assuming this is all local, I'd shut down the db service and restart it, out of hand. I've seen similar messages when I set the db to start up on boot, and it didn't finish shutting down when I tried to restart it manually. Usually the GUI won't let me turn it on because it reports it's already running, but in that case it hadn't finished performing what the GUI was reporting.

My ipod touch connects to wifi but can't connect to the server.
Ok, so my ipod youch says it's connected to the wifi but when i try to get on the internet it says it can't connect to the server. I've looked and there's alot of answers but they're all soooooooooooooo complicated. I'm like 14, so whoever can answer this, please use small words.
I've noticed in alot of the answers they talk about your IP adress, if it's any consilation mine starts with 169. No matter where I go, if it's at home, or at starbucks or a hotel.
Thanks for your timeHave you tried restoring your iPod touch in iTunes?
You may just be trying to connect to "Printer Networks" that allow a company/residence to print something from their printer wirelessly, it would appear on your iPod touch just about the same as any other network, but you wouldn't be able to use internet while connected to that network...
If you are talking about "free wifi" in a Cafe, like Starbucks, you will usually need to open Safari. A Page will load and tell you how to connect to their internet, whether it's by paying, or just agreeing to their terms...
Like, I said, if that isn't the problem, try restoring your iPod touch in iTunes...

Safari Not Loading Web Pages (Safari can't connect to the server)
I'm seeing increasing problems with Safari being unable to connect to websites. When the problem starts to manifest itself you see the error:
Safari can't connect to the server.
Safari can't open the page.
Then you see the URL information. It is always seems to be sites that are trying to load HTTPS pages.
Clearing the cache and resetting Safari will make it go away temporarily, but it always comes back.
Note that when this happens you might happen to see something like this in the address bar:
file:///Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/I'm having the same problem, I can open safari but when I try to go to a website it just says "server stopped responding." I just updated to the new version and that's when it started happening, it was working find before the update. Any suggestions???

Apple Tv is telling me it can not connect to the server. How do I fix that?
I changed my apple id and after I did, now my apple tv says it can not connect to the server when I try to view my purchases. Hulu and netflix work so the internet is working fine. My phone and ipad also work fine with the new id. Does anyone know how to make my apple tv purchases come back?
Power cycle the router and the ATV.
If the issue continues on the ATV go to Settings > General > Reset
