Can't connect to app store after upgrading to Mavericks

After installing Mavericks, I can't update any of my apps, or open any previous apps. When I do try to sign in, it always says "An unknown error has occurred". I have a yahoo.com Apple ID, but even when I try signing in with a gmail.com Apple ID, I get the same error. What is going on?

That worked gor me as well.
Go to Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and then delete NetworkInterfaces.plist
Restarting. Going to the system prefs/network - saving then launching the app store.
Did the trick for me.

  • Can't connect to iTunes store after upgrade to iTunes 10.5

I've been trying to get this to work all day. I've done the whole uninstall in this order and reinstall several times to no avail. I've also tried the "netsh winsock reset" thing I saw on another question which also didn't work.
On top of this whenever I try to sync my ipod touch 4g with it, it says that the iPod touch timed out so it couldn't sync (tried to sync several times).
Then I tried to upgrade to iOS 5 (also tried several times) but all I get is a frozen iTunes or the it hangs up on the backup phase. Can someone please help me solve this?!
This is all I get when trying to connect to iTunes store:
(Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit by the way)

I was having the same problem earlier today, and what I ultimately did to solve the issue was:
Completely uninstall iTunes 10.5 by following http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
Find my backup iTunes Library File (*.itl) from the previous version, and copy it to "iTunes Library.itl"
    See http://technicallyeasy.net/2009/03/restoring-a-previous-version-of-your-itunes-l ibrary/
Reinstall with the previous software, iTunes 10.4.1
The fact that the old 10.4.1 software works correctly in accessing the iTunes Store, and the new 10.5 software does not work correctly, suggests to me that there is some kind of bug in the iTunes 10.5 application itself. Hopefully the developers can figure it out. In the meantime, I'm happily working again on the previous version and will be planning to stay there until this mess has been cleared up.

  • Cannot connect to app store after updating to mavericks

First time I've had to post here, never had a problem before. Couple days ago it pops up that I have an update to mavericks for my macbook pro. Go ahead and install it and all the sudden I can't connect to the app store. I click the sign in button and nothing happens. I've tried the stuff I can think of from resetting it to disk permissions and nothing works.
Worked fine before the update, obviously since i had to have it to get the update but now nothing

well as an update, last night it just started connecting again. No rhyme or reason but I clicked it and it magically connected.
However now my email is dead.

Are you running any of Symantec's (Norton) or McAfee's Internet security products or anything similar, or an antivirus/antispyware application? Some such utilities treat an upgrade to iTunes as a new application and can block the application from connecting. So you have to go in and reset the utility to allow iTunes. The same thing can happen if you upgrade the security product (this has particularly been a problem with recent McAfee upgrades).
Check the settings for your utility. If iTunes is still listed, remove and re-enable the exception for iTunes. Consult your utility's documentation for the appropriate procedure. If you have Norton, you can find instructions for that utility on Symantec's web page for iTunes. You may also need to check the built-in Windows firewall as well.
    Hope this helps.

    Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
              8.8.8.8
              8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
    In Safari, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?
    Notes:
    1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the  Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
    2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. There may be privacy and technical issues involved in using that service, which you should investigate personally before you decide whether to keep the settings. Other public DNS services exist.

  • Can sign in with Apple ID, but can't connect to App Store for updates

My wife just received her new iPad on Friday. When she went to update the apps that indicated they needed to be updated, she was able to sign in with her Apple ID. However, after a few seconds of processing the message appears that her iPad was unable to connect to the App store. (She was connected to the internet through WiFi). The next day at the Apple Store, the same thing happened as well as to other users, including those at the Genius Bar so we are not alone. Any insights? We thought that by the end of the weekend the issue may have been resolved (high traffic / server overload???) but still locked out of the App store.

OK so here is what seems to be the problem -- Apps and under which account they were purchased / downloaded. My wife had downloaded a slew of apps under my Apple ID in the past, so when she attempted to sign in with her Apple ID there is now a conflict (this was not an issue before iOS 5.1 or so it seems). This simple fact totally prevents access to the App Store. This explains why my iPhone could connect to the App Store (it only has apps downloaded with my Apple ID) and hers could not.
So we sat down and made a list of all of the apps on her iPhone and iPad (the ones she wanted to keep), then went into iTunes and clicked on APPS (under Library in the left column). Once you are in there, a list of apps installed appears. Right click (option-click) on each app icon to GET INFO -- this displays which Apple ID account was used to download that particular app. (Thanks Rysz)
Thankfully all of the apps that were causing the conflict were free, so it was simply a matter of deleting these particular apps off of iTunes (on her iMac -- right click to delete) as well as her iPhone and iPad. Then all you need to do is re-download them when she is signed back into the App Store with her Apple ID.
After I deleted all of the apps, I again tried to sign in to the App Store to re-download the apps she wanted to replace. But I was still getting the dreaded error message stating "Can't Connect to App Store". So on her iPhone I went to Settings and reset the network connection, signed back in to our Airport WiFi network. Tried again, no luck. Signed out of the App store and re-signed in, and glory hallelujah -- I was now able to access the App Store and start the download process for both the iPad and iPhone (thanks Thom_D for the suggestion).
Once everything was back to normal, plugged each device in separately to her iMac and resynced in iTunes. Knock on wood, I think it is now working like before.
Hope this helps a fellow user out there.

here is a "copied" version with credits for those looking for a solution to an annoying problem Apple should patch.  (Yes, I'm aware of the irony of that statement)
July 18, 2012 · by Arthur Lockman · in Apple, Tutorials
After doing a reinstall of Lion a few weeks ago, I found that my computer suddenly would reject every VeriSign certificate that it encountered. Using Chrome, that meant that I couldn’t even access Twitter.com, because it thought that the certificate was wrong. I couldn’t login to the Apple developer portal, I couldn’t authenticate a device with XCode, I couldn’t make a purchase at Apple.com, I couldn’t download updates from the Mac App Store, and I couldn’t login to Mint.com, among other sites. I essentially couldn’t do anything that used a VeriSign certificate for SSL.
What did I do? I called my trusty AppleCare advisor, hoping for an answer. I thought that maybe they could help me figure it out. After getting to senior support, I was told to reinstall Lion, which I did to no avail. My case was then forwarded to the Apple engineering team, with 3 to 5 days to wait until I had an answer. I looked around, through my console logs and through Keychain access, and finally came up with an answer, and a solution to my problems.
It turned out that my solution was pretty simple. I had to delete a few files and reset one to its default setting.
Delete the files /var/db/crls/crlcache.db and /var/db/crls/ocspcache.db. These can be found using Finder’s Go >; Go To Folder menu (Cmd + Shift + G). This resets the cache of accepted certificates in the system. It doesn’t remove them, it just forces the system to rebuild the caches upon restart.
Open Keychain Access (/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access). Select Certificates in the Category picker on the left side. In the search bar, type in the word Class. Look through that list, and find any certificates that have a blue + symbol over their icon. These are the ones you need to modify.
Select one that has a blue +, and hit Command + I. Click the disclosure triangle beside the “Trust” list to show the list of permissions. Now, what we need to do is to set this certificate to use the system defaults. However, for some reason, when you select it, it doesn’t save. So what you need to do is this. Under “Trust”, where it says “Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)”, change the dropdown menu to say “No Value Specified”. Then, close the window. It will ask for your administrator permissions. Then, open the info pane for that certificate again. Under “Trust” again, now set the dropdown that says “When using this certificate:” to say “Use System Defaults”. You can then close out of the info pane, and enter your password again. Do this for any of the certificates that have a blue + on their icon. There should only be one or two at most.
    Restart your system.
This solution seemed to work just fine for me. All of my certificate problems have been fixed. It must be something with the OSX installer that causes this certificate issue. I’ll file a bug report. Hopefully someone looks into it and fixes the flaw in the OS. And, I hope that this fixed the flaw for you.
Addendum – a note on security:
This procedure won’t affect the security of your Mac. I’ve had some questions come in about that, and if anything, it makes it more secure because then sites that require SSL certificates can actually use them, unlike before where they might default to non secure connections because the certificate was bad.

  • Can not connect to app store

lately, i do not know why my imac can not connect to the app store ... i followed the instructions in "http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5202" except the Edit your Keychain ... there is NO blue + over any certificates icon ... i still can not connect to the app store...
i could have the app store display the front page after doing all instructions according to the web page ... when i click the login button try to log in and it display the empty page with "Can Not Connect To App Store"...
i have tried few times with same result...
any help to resolve this issue...
    cheers,

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • IPhone 4S Won't Connect to App Store After iOS 6 Update!

After a long wait for the new iOS update when I enter the "App Store" there is a box that pops up saying that I can't connect to "App Store," that even happens while I'm connected to WIFI... Although I still can connect to "iTunes" music store!

Reset your iPhone.  Hold Sleep Key and Home Key together for more than 15 sec.  Now try your App Store again.

I have tried everything including reseting my iPhone5c but still can't connect to App Store, and it's been over a week now! Totally annoyed now!! I'm not sure if it started after I updated my iOS cos I was able to update a few other apps. I just can't connect to neither apps store nor iTunes! I need help else I'd boil this phone alive!

    Hello IamJudekow,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with connecting to the App Store on your iPhone 5c.  I found a couple of articles I recommend for this issue.
First, I recommend using the steps in the section titled “Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch” in the following article (the article title refers to the iTunes Store, but the steps are relevant for the App Store as well):
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1368
If the issue persists after following the steps in that section, I recommend continuing with the steps in the section titled “Isolate the issue: (Mac OS X, Windows, iOS)” in the article below:
    iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

  • New ML can't connect to APP Store!

I just updated to Mountain Lion.
And now I can't connect to APP Store, can't sign in iCloud,iMessage...
Even Safari is not working, just like no network.
But I'm sure my network is working.
    What's problems with ML?????

Hi. Just FYI my name is Joe. I put my fathers name when I got the account years ago and don't know how to change it.
Anyhow it just started working on its own yesterday. I didn't do anything.
I don't know what you mean about before my new iPad. I have had an iPod touch 2nd gen. iPhone 4s few weeks ago that I took back. Long time ago I had the original iPad. Now I have the iPod touch 4th gen before the new iPad by a few days. Then I got the new iPad 8am at frys electronics near me right when they opened Friday when the new iPad went on sale.
Got there 10 minutes before they opened. So 7:50am. 3 people were waiting. So I was 4th or 5th in and I was first one out. Just walked straight to the apple area and said I wanted new 32gb black iPad and he printed me the order paper to take to the front. Printed it like 1 minute after I told him what I wanted. So I walked up there and they got it and I was out. Spent maybe 15 minutes total in the store. Was awesome too. No wait. Anyhow I know that doesn't have anything to do with this issue, just wanted to share.
