Can't connect to back to my mac from hotel

Wondering if anyone is experiencing a similar issue.
We're able to connect to our Airport Extreme from 99% of locations outside of our residential office.
When doing so, we see 5 drives (all USB) connected to our Airport Extreme (2 production drives, 2 archival drives and one Time Machine drive).
However...
When staying at a well-known resort in the Orlando, FL area, our wireless connection doesn't permit us to see any of the shared drives or favorite folders listed in our Finder Window.
Mind you, we're able to connect wirelessly to the Internet using a password key provided by the hotel. We can retrieve email, surf websites, etc., however...Back To My Mac is not functional. What we see on our Finder Window is:
1. The favorite folders - and when we click them - no connection is made
2. No visible Airport Extreme in the Shared devices area.

It would seem the Internet service at this hotel is blocking access via the ports Back to my Mac uses, which are different to the ports used for web and email.
There's nothing you can do about this yourself. It would be up to the administrator of the Wifi network you're using to allow access to certain services through their network.

    I've now managed to get the service running in both directions, but not in the way I had anticipated. I had to create a second account on the Mac Book Air, this also has administrator privilages, everything works fine when connecting from this acccount. However, this is not the way I would expect to work, none of my documents, applications and settings would be available, unless I laboriously duplicated them to the new account.
    Also, I've yet to get the service running from outside my home network.

    Look up "screen sharing" in help
    You can control your mini (which I am assuming you are hooking to your TV) complete from your iMac.
    After you set up screen sharing, you can go to the finder, under the "go" menu choose "Connect to server" and then browse.  Choose your mac mini's name, and look for the "Screen Sharing" button.
    Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Sharing.
    Select the Screen Sharing checkbox.
    To specify who can share your screen, select one of the following:
    All users:
    Select this if you want to allow any user with a user account on your computer to share your screen.
    Only these users:

    Yes, but how depends on what model of Mini and what kind of monitors.  Early models only had one monitor port.  Later models had a Mini-DVI port and a Mini-Displayport.  Current models have a Mini-Displayport and a HDMI port.  The Mini-DVI and Mini-Displayport can attach VGA or DVI monitors, whereas the HDMI port can't use VGA monitors.
    Beyond that, you can get Matrox's DualHead2Go or a USB->VGA or USB->DVI adapter.  The Matrox product is a bit expensive and the USB adapters are a bit to slow for games and such.  So, again, the answer is "yes", but with limitations

    I retract my previous "No." If you can live with limited performance (slow refresh/choppy action video/no gaming) on the second external monitor, you could use a USB video adapter and a DVI-HDMI adapter to connect it to a USB port on your computer.

    I'm not quite sure what you mean by this - do you mena connect to the Mac to access streaming media or perhaps you were wondering if the AppleTV can behave as a wireless extender to give network access to the PS3 - it can't.

    Put the monitor on a KVM.  Might be able to do a wired mouse and keyboard as well.  KVM = keyboard, video, monitor switch.
    Connect the common monitor to the KVM out and each machine's video to KVM's in.  Then you switch the monitor so it is connected to the machine you want to currently use.
    The tricky part is finding an appropriate KVM to handle the video connections for the two machines and monitor.  No guarantees there.  Many current KVM's have USB connections so there is less potential hastle with mice and keboards.  But monitors use dvi, (mini-)displayport, vga, and hdmi.  And you may need adapters/converters.  So finding a appropriate KVM may be the hard part.

    For what the Apple Store's charge you can buy almost buy a new computer.
    Just for giggles I brought my old laptop in for a drive upgrade and asked, they wanted $600 for a drive that only cost $120 at the time and it was a slow 5,400 RPM drive. The new Mac's of a similar make were going for $1000.
    I did the drive replacement myself, got a faster drive of better quality for $300 instead.

    I think what you should do, if your out of warranty/AppleCare, is to call up the local PC tech guy who also does Mac's and have them fix you right up.
    They can offer more personalized care which you need. Clone your old drive to the new and everything.
    With Apple they are overworked at the Genius Bar and just place roadblocks so you buy a new machine instead.
    For instance, all new iMac's now have proprietary drive software installed on the hard drives for heat monitoring. So now the only choice a user has is to bring their iMac into a Apple Store for a very expensive drive upgrade, which a person then decides the money is better spent buying a new machine.
