Can't connect to GMail to Sync

When my iPad is connected to iTunes, I'm trying to Sync Contacts with Google Contacts. This requires me to logon to Google. When I do so, iTunes tells me "the Google ID or password was incorrect". I know this is not true - I can easily logon to gMail on the same computer. Why can't iTunes connect to Google/gMail?
To get around this obstacle, I tried syncing Contacts with Windows Address Book. This process seems to work, but then I can't find the Contacts anywhere on the iPad, not in the App called "Contacts" nor in the contacts in Mail. Where are they?
All help appreciated.

This could be caused by a firewall blocking PC Companion from connecting to the internet. If you have a firewall installed, make sure it's set to allow PC Companion.
If your internet connection goes through a proxy you may also have to enter your proxy in PC Companion. Click PC Companion settings at the top right and then go to proxy settings.
If you use MS Outlook with MS Exchange you could also synchronize directly with MS Exchange from the phone. Go to Settings -> Accounts and sync in the phone and add a new account with your settings (you get these from your IT-department).
You could also try the 3:rd party application MyPhoneExplorer from www.fjsoft.at.

Sorry, there is nothing you can do.
FYI: Damage like that is not covered by warranty, & all Apple will offer you is an out of warranty replacement...cost, in the US, for an iPhone 4, is US $149.

  • Can't connect to Store or Sync with ipod. All music lost on iPod

Multiple severe problems. Is there any live support anywhere, even if there's a fee? Can't connect to iTunes store on Windows XP, tried to move music to new computer, changed to manual setting to do that, but now, there's no music on the new computer or the iPod and I can't get the music on the library of the old computer to sync with iPod and can't create a backup disc, as I get an unknown error. My 10-year old daughter is in tears. Thanks for any help. Would like to get the music back on the iPod and on the new computer. I authorized it.

There's phone support for iPods and they might be able to help you with iTunes or at least point you in the right direction.

I look through discussions and it looks randomaly happening.
however, can anyone help me out?
I'm keep getting this message "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account "Gmail" or try again.
The server error encountered was: The connection to the server "pop.gmail.com" on port 995 timed out."

You can't connect at all, or you have been able to connect and it randomly drops??
I've been using Mail to check my Gmail accounts for a while now, and sometimes it will be delayed, but I've never had a long term probelm with it.

  • I can't access my gmail from my iPhone or mac?  It says I can't connect to gmail.

When I open to mail, a pop up says: "mail cannot connect to gmail acct."

    Hello susansmaider,
It sounds like neither of your 2 devices can connect to your Gmail account. I would start with trying the steps in the following article for your iPhone:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
    Try a different Wi-Fi connection
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.
And this article for your Mac:

  • Can't connect to gmail

my ipad has quit connecting to gmail - any advice?  It seemed to stop doing this without any changes having been made to the ipad or the gmail account.  I have tried deleting the account and setting it up again.

Try to restore your iPod from a previous backup via iTunes if you have any.
Or try changing the password for your gmail account and then try re-add the account once more.

  • How can i connect my gmail account to the browser so that it would show in the gmail tab the status of new incoming mail

i established a tab for my gmail account in the toolbar, can this tab indicate the status of new incoming gmail emails?

The ATV does not have a browser and therefore cannot connect to any Wi-Fi network that requires logging in via a web browser.
Posting your email to a public, world-wide forums is not smart.

  • Suddenly can't connect to gmail SMTP for outbound mail

I have both a MacBook Air and an IMac. Recently, I lost the ability on both machines to send outbound mail. With Apple Care help on my supported machine (the MacBook Air,) we rebuilt my gmail mail account on that machine and was able to reconnect and send outbound mail. (receiving mail was never a problem)
However, going through all of the same steps on the IMac, it keeps saying :"Gmail (offline) next to Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) on the account information screen. When I run Connection Doctor, I have a red light next to Gmail SMTP with the message "Trying to log into this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct."
Well, the username and password are correct. I just changed them, and can access Gmail from all of my other devices...MacBook Air, iPhone, IPad.
What is really odd it that is was working until about 3 weeks ago.
Any suggestions/ideas? I'm not particularly technical...just find this very frustrating and don't know where to turn.

If I remove my gmail account, I'll be able to get all the emails back when I create my new one - because it's imap?
    Yes, but check 2 things,
    1. That it is setup as Imap (POP is possible but is not the default) and 2 that you have not created any local folders that house mail from the Imap account, if you did then you must export them before removing the account.
What do you mean by verify both passwords? You mean imap and smtp?
I assume I should be using the application specific password in my mail settings?
    Thanks,
    Bob
Imap and SMTP should be the same, but check.

  • I can't connect to gmail on iPad mini

Every time I  try to connect to my gmail (google) account I get the following message.
"Could not connect using SSL. Would you like to try setting up the account without SSL?"
Our iPad mini is running ios 7.0.4.  I've deleted the gmail account from the iPad and tried to reconnect but to no avail.  I've tried other gmail accounts within our house but no luck.  Additionally we do not have 2-step verfication set on our google accounts.

You ned to be running at least iOS 6 on your iPad to be able to continue using Skype. If you can't updating iOS on your iPad to version 6 or later you can't use Skype any longer. • Can't connect to itunes store, sync, recognize iphone

I-tunes was working fine until a month ago when i-tunes would not open when I plugged my iphone 4 into Dell XPS Windows 7 computer.
When I open i-tunes manually, I could not connect to itunes store, diagnostics would not work, i-tunes would not sync with my iphone. The error message I would always see was "itunes could not connect to itunes store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again." Of interest, whenever I open itunes, I would be asked to under the user account control "start or stop mobile device service on this computer" which I never saw before.
So far, I have set time/date, configured internet options(SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0), disabled Norton Security with Backup without benefit. I deleted i-tunes from the computer and re-installed it with the same results after trying to restore from a point last year also without help. I was able to install itunes in an old computer I used to use with Norton Security with Backup (Dell Inspiron 1525 with Windows Vista) and it worked fine with the same network connection. However, I can't rely on that computer since the battery won't recharge and it is 10 years old.
    Any suggestions? Thank you!

I've suddenly begun to experience issues with my authorization each time I try to sync my ipod.  I keep re-entering my log in information and it will either tell me that the pc is already authorized or say that it cannot connect to the itunes store.  I never had issues prior to installing the x64 client that ruined everything for me.  Even after changing to the 32 bit client my problems also persist and apple needs to correct the issues plaguing the itunes software.
You might try uninstalling all apple software and then delete the itunes files in the installation folder and in the program files (x86) folder then reboot and reinstall itunes.  I might try this myself and see what happens or just go back to the x64 client and lose my scrobbling ability which is why I went back to the 32 bit client in the first place.

  • Can't connect to gmail smtp server but receiving fine

I have been using gmail with my mac osx mail fine for several years with no hiccups. Recently, I had problems with gmail and my ipad but with an app, it's now working fine.
Today, when sending an email from my imac, I had the old error prompt show up asking for my password. Had a bad feeling about this. I entered it. Then again. Wouldn't take it.
Now it's telling me that my smtp server is offline. It works fine with webmail, so the gmail isn't the problem. I'm able to receive mail just fine and also send mail with other accounts.
I have tried rebullding my mail by letting it build a new index file and that didn't help. I read some advice about deleting the container folder. I don't have that folder on my imac. Can't locate it.
Can anyone please help? I hate using webmail and want to go back to using mac osx mail.
    imac / 2.66 / 8gb RAM / 10.8.3
    Thanks,
    Bob
