Can't connect to Internet after sleep mode

Hi,
Most times after put my iBook in sleep mode and reopen it, I can't connect to Internet. I use a normal cable connection by ethernet, but at these times, when I check the network status, it says I don't have any cable connected. The modem apears to be OK, with the computer's light on. I plug off and plug in the cable and it doesn't change and it happens the same when I click in DHCP renew - it just doesn't give any IP adreess. I need to restart the computer to get the connection again.
Ibook G3 700   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I am trying other solutions today.
It can not change to another wifi network without switch off the wifi.
That's mean I have switch off and re-open the wifi signal every time when it show like this capture.
I waiting for more than 5 mins and it will search another wifi network automatically but it still "No internet connect".
My MacBook Pro is no any WiFi issues.

  • My brand new Macbook PRO i5 can't connect to internet after sleep? It works fine after reboot.

I have a brand new Macbook PRO with the latest OS and the latest EFI. I haven't installed any 3'rd party products except Moneywell for my private finances. After a couple of days it couldn't connect to internet after sleep. I run the network diag and it says the connection is OK. Log out/in doesn't help. I have to reboot everytime it wakes up after sleep. Any clue?

  • Lion says "can't connect to internet" after sleep; network is fine

So our two-month-old MacBook Pro has developed an unusual tic. Now when we wake it from sleep, it is initially unable to access the internet through browsers or mail -- even though AirPort is connecting to the network and other devices on the network (iPhones and computers) can reach the internet just fine. Running Network Diagnostic says that the internet connection is fine. After several minutes, with no user input, it restores the internet connection. This machine is running OS X 10.7.2.
Here is what I found in Console when I slept the computer and woke it (note that "tardis" is our wireless network):

  • OS X 10.7.2 very slow to connect to internet after sleep

Following the lates round of updates and firmware updates MacBook Pro Running 10.7.2 is very difficult to connect to internet after sleep. Network diagnostics show all is fine, all the IP's DNS etc WiFi are fine Safari just won't connect. Was fine before updates

I have had this same problem since I updated to lion. I used to connect straight away. Now it takes at least 10sec.
Have noticed a few anoying bugs with lion. The other thing that somtimes happens to me is it crashing when running some programes ( iphoto '08, BBC iplayer desctop etc... ) and also when browsing some sites (quite alot on youtube)
Really hope these are sorted on the next update.

  • Not connected to internet after sleep

Hi my Macbook Pro 13" early 2011 is not instantly connecting to the internet after sleep. I goto network diagnostics, all green lights are on, it says your internet is working fine, I click on a bookmark, it says I'm not connected. I repeat this two or three times, and finally after clicking on the third or fourth bookmark, it connects. I'm on Sky broadband UK through an Airport Express and my iPhone, Android (eeurgh!) 'phone, other computers and PS3 all connect with no problems. Any ideas folks?
Also whilst I'm here, I've noticed software update has downloaded the same EFI firmware update four times, and that other software updates are available immediately after updating software.... Something I'm not used to? And, during restart, the computer beeps. Normal?
    Regards

Well, thanks to Carolyn Samit from San Francisco I think I found the answer by deleting Cache.db from Safari prefs in the library... Haven't been on these boards for a few years now - forgot how to use them! Anyway, if anyone can help with the software update repeats before I search the answer that'd be great thanks!

  • Having problems connecting to WiFi after Sleep Mode - Lion with most recent updates.

I'm new to Apple and have the new MBP - what a great machine!
So, I updated to Lion and have done all the updates for my OS. As of recent (after an update last week), I am having trouble connecting to the internet after I close my computer (Sleep) or Sleep mode due to inactivity. The only way to connect after said mode is to completely Restart the computer and then my problem is fixed. I've tried searching, but can't find anything. Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thank you

    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly."
    3. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    4. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    5. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    6. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    7. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    8. Reset the System Management Controller.
    9. Reset the PRAM.
    10. Reinstall OS X.
Updating to 10.9.2 did the trick. So I thought. Does anyone have a solution?

  • W520 running Windows 8.1 not connecting to internet after sleep

Hey everybody, really need the help!
I have a w520 that suddenly stopped connecting to the internet after waking up from sleep. I will connect to the network and show others but the connection to the Internet times out. Once I restart I can access the Internet but as soon as it goes to sleep the problem happens again.  I have tried on many different networks and at the beginning of the week this was not an issue.
    Things I have tried:
    different browser
    different networks
reinstalling the drivers for the card
What else could be causing this sudden issue?

    Welcome FIMuPhi198
    1. Go to Start > System Update > Install all critical and recommended updates.
    2. Download and install the newer version of Wi-Fi driver from Intel.

  • Mac won't connect to internet after sleep

    Hi,
I've seen this problem to more and more users.
After i have updated Mac OS to 10.5.7 my Macbook won't connect to my airport express after waking from sleep. Even worse, when i wake my mac, all the computers from my wireless network loose their connectivity to Internet. I have to restart the Airport and the Macbook everytime. You can imagine this is becoming frustrating.
The funny part is that all the other laptops which have windows on them work without problems so i'm guessing this is related to Mac OS and not the Airport.
based on what i have read so far on the forums, i've tried to reset the connection, to change it's name, encryption, update Airport firmware version...everything.. No luck. The only thing that gets my connection back is to do a restart both to Macbook and Airport.
Does anyone have a solution to this issue?
    Thanks,

Is anyone else having this issue?

  • MBP won't connect to Internet after sleeping

Last night I woke up my MBP (2.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, OS X v10.5.6) and it wouldn't connect to the Internet. I thought it was a problem w/ the network itself and confirmed it by testing another computer. However, when the network connection was restored on the other computer, I still couldn't get my MBP to connect.
I verified that the other Macs in the house could connect to the wireless router (Apple Extreme Base Station w/ latest firmware). I could connect to the Internet using the Linux virtual machine under Parallels on my MBP and the application PeerGuardian is showing IP addresses being tracked in the log. I can also access the 'net just fine using my admin account in the MBP, so I know there is nothing wrong w/ the router or Internet connection, nor is there a problem w/ my MBP physically.
I have tried several different troubleshooting methods. When I try pinging an Internet address, I receive the error "No route to host". When I run Network Diagnostics, I receive green lights indicating there is no problem w/ the connection. However, I can't use any of my browsers, Software Update, or most of my other Internet applications because they indicate that there is no connection.
Opera (my primary browser) just sits there when I type in a URL; sometimes it will give the error "internal communications error", implying the website itself is down but usually it will just wait, acting like it's trying to connect. Safari gives the error "Can't connect to the server. Safari can't open the page 'http://www.google.com' because it could not connect to the server 'www.google.com'."
I have reset the Airport Extreme router and had a weird issue. After the reset, my MBP wouldn't display the router in the Airport Utility, though my wife's Macbook found it just fine. It just kept stating that there were no routers available and if I would like to rescan. After 5-10 minutes though, my MBP finally detected and displayed the router.
I have verified and repaired disk permissions, verified the disk itself, and even restarted in Safe Mode to force a disk check on boot. The only profile that is affected is my personal one; like I said, Parallels and the admin account are both fine.
I'm figuring I will just have to make a new profile but I really don't want to do that if I don't have to. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas that I haven't tried?

I am having the exact problem!! Some places that have wifi I have no problem; others I can always log on to their wifi but can't seem to maintain a connection. If I wait for a long long time it sometimes will reload. Any help would be appreciated. It consistently happens at the same coffee shop. I have no issues at home or at the public library. Others at the coffee shop have no problems at all so it seems to be only my machine. When I take my old ibook to the shop I can connect and stay connected with no problems.

  • Can't connect to internet after updating new Firmware wrt54g Help please!

So i just updated my firmware on my wrt54g ver 2 router, went through all the steps it updated successfully after that i hit the reset button and unplugged the router as tehe online instructions said to. Now i can't connect to the interent at all with either of my two wired computers or through the wireless. All the lights on the front of the router are on like the power, internet, and wireless connectivity. Also the the two WAN ports my computers are connected to in the router the lights are on and it's recognising them. But I can't connect to the internet or even see the router on my network settings. Somone suggested to reconfigure the router but when i go to set up new connection my computer doesn't detect the router and also i cant connect to the router using the ip address 192.168.1.1/ since there is no internet connection. Is there a way to get to the router options or a way to revert it to its old firmware. Any help would be much appreciated. I should after updating the firmare the power button is contantly blinking.

I am having the exact same problem..  I have the same router and same version as well.. I followed the directions and upgraded the firmware. it said update successfull and then I reset it and power cycled it to find that my network no longer works and I cannot access the router..I've looked through all the troubleshooting guides and they do not help..  It says if you can't access the web based page then to use the TFTP  utility to re-flash the router’s firmware but it seems it cannot make a connection to the router..  I've tried to ping it like it says to in the TFTP guide but it does not seem to be able to make a connection to the router..  I tried to access Management Mode to recover the router and resume the loading of the firmware upgrade but I can't get the Management Mode Firmware Upgrade page to open as well..  So what gives?  I followed the directions  but the only thing I seemed to accomplish was to brick my router..   Does anyone have a clue on how to go about fixing this problem?   Any help is appreciated..

  • Garageband Loses Connection With Keyboard After Sleep Mode

Whenever I open Garageband after my PowerBook G4 15" has been in sleep mode, my connection with my digital keyboard is lost (unable to record). I have to restart the computer in order to get the connection back. Any suggestions on what might be happening here and how to resolve this problem?
I noticed several other posts under "Internet Connections" where people are losing their internet connection after coming out of sleep mode (I am also experiencing this problem as well). Could these two problems be related? I never had either of these problems until recently. Could it have anything to do with recent Mac OSX software updates or iLife '08 updates?
    Thanks. Rick.

have you tried simply unplugging and re-plugging-in the keyboard rather than a reboot?

  • MacBook Pro loses connection to Internet after sleep using Airport Time Capsule

I recently upgraded to Mavricks and then added a new Airport Time Capsule, and now I my MBP will not connect to the wireless LAN after waking up from sleep mode.  My MBP worked great for over a year with an non-Apple router, so I am thinking that there is a new Apple computer-to-Apple Router issue going on. Any thoughts, suggestions?
I read all the threads and have followed all the simple advice, such as making sure the Airport is at the top of the network priority list, etc, to no avail.  I end up having to reboot my MBP to get reconnected, which is super frustrating.

  • Can't connect to internet after software update to iBook G4

I recently installed updates to itunes, quicktime, and the the latest security update for os x 10.3.9 on my iBook G4. Now I can't connect to the internet via my airport express. This happened the last time I updated the software, but I can't remember what I did to fix it. Can anyone help?

I am experiencing the exact same problem with my sister's laptop. iBook G4 10.3.9 I just installed Security update 2007-008 and quicktime update. After the reboot her airport connected to the house router, but will not acquire an IP address. The other computers in the house have remained connected to the router without change. I have a another iBook G4 running on 10.4.11 with the same network settings and I have no trouble whatsoever. I re-enetered the WAP password, reorganized the network connection priorities and repaired permissions, but cannot get the computer to acquire an IP address.
    Any ideas??

  • Can't connect to Internet after update

I've had this issue before but I was atleast able to get on iTunes & firefox. After this update my comp can't connect to the Internet period. I called my cable company & everything was working fine on their end. My modem communicates that it's linked my comp by a flashing light. In network prefrences my Ethernet says connected. I do not use a wireless router. I went to the Apple store & managed to get a connection smoothly. After I did the update was when my comp was unable to connect to the Internet, firefox, safari, iTunes NOTHING. I don't have any anti virus programs on my comp.
    Help anyone?

Anyone???? This all happened after the 10.6.8 update...at the Apple store my Internet worked fine. Once I get this resolved I'm never updating again!

  • [SOLVED] Can't connect to internet after installation

Hello, I just installed Arch, and during the installation I connected to wifi (obviously, since I had to download the packages) with iwconfig and all the other tools on the installer, but after the installation I wasn't connected any more. I have no idea how to connect to the internet now, all the guides online say to run iwconfig or any of the other connection tools, which I can't do since I don't HAVE them.
I can't connect through ethernet either, I think either the ethernet port on my laptop is broken, or the drivers just aren't working (apparently people on the forums have the same problem with my chipset). My friend told me to try sudo wifi-menu, but apparently I need to install dialog for that, which, of course, requires internet connection.
Should I plug in the USB again, and try something with that? Is there any way to set up a wifi connection without using all the fancy connection tools that I don't have? Sorry if I'm being dumb, I have absolutely no idea how to connect. The wiki doesn't help, and neither does google.

I think with the last few times I've done an ArchLinux installation, I've literally set-up the whole thing (as in done base, base-devel, networkmanager, X and a DE) in the Arch LiveCD. LightDM isn't happy being set-up in the LiveCD environment though I've noticed.
For this, I use pacstrap for base and base-devel and then pacman for the rest.
