Can't connect to iTunes Store due to "The network connection timed out"

Since downloading the updates/upgrade version to iTunes, I have been unable to connect to the iTunes Store. I have performed instructions for Error TS1368 and HT1875. I have disabled my firewall and popup blockers; which still will not connect me to the iTunes Store. I have a desktop computer; which I did not upgrade. I have validated all the network connections, security center and performed all the suggestions on the Discussion Board and still cannot connect. I have removed all iTune software, etc. and reinstall and still cannot connect to the iTune Store on my laptop. Is it possible that there may be a glitz in the upgraded version? Since there appear to be numerous individuals have the same problem since the upgrade. HELP!!!

Welcome to AD!
The #1 culprit for not being able to access the iTunes store after an iTunes update is Norton/Symantec security software. It comes pre-installed on most PCs these days as a trial version. Even if you have never used it, and thought you deleted the trial version, it is still lurking on your PC.
Norton has its own firewall (separate from the built-in Windows firewall) and it does not tell you when it decides to block iTunes.
See if the Norton removal tool mentioned in this thread gives you any joy:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1954304&tstart=25
This software is so bad, you have to use the removal tool. The normal uninstall using Windows Add/Remove Programs will not get rid of it.

  • I keep getting the follow error messages when I try to sign into iTunes store or redeem a song code: We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again

I keep getting the following error messages on my Mac when I try to redeem a song code: "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again later."  and then, "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50)."

    Hello, constance132.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I could recommend when receiving error -50.
    "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
    Windows Vista:
  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows 7:
  \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows XP:
  \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading Digital Copies using Windows:
Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.

  • We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection...

    Hi,
I have recently downloaded iTunes (three times now) due to getting an ipod for Christmas. When I first tried to buy anything off the iTunes Store I got the following error box "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out. Make sure you netowkr connections are correct and your netowkr connection is active, then try again." so I have searched the internet for a possible solution, firstly I found I had to stop block-up poppers, i done this and I could buy an album...perfect. The next day I tried buying something else, but alas could not and instead keep receiving the above error message. So far I have tried:
    Re-installing iTunes
    Flushing the DNS
Turning off the firewall (both windows and router)
    Turning off block-up poppers
    Disabling virus protection
The error message is obviously not accurate as I am still able to search the web through internet explorer and Firefox. If anybody has any suggestions to help out that would be great.

You can buy MP3s at any online music download store and add them to your iTunes library, and sync them to your iPod. Some stores add them automatically. Try the amazon.com MP3 Download Store, for example.

  • I am unable to connect to the Itune Store, it says the network connection timed out. The internet is working for everything else. Any idea?

I can no longer connect to the ITunes Store. CAn you help? When I do the diagnostics it says Securie link to itunes store failed.

I think I may be having the same problem.  "We could not complete your iTunes Store request.  The network connection timed out.  Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."   All tests pass the diagnostics.  iPhone restored to factory settings in DFU mode, but when beginning to sync I get this error message.  I've been searching online for fixes and tried several suggestions, but nothing worked so far.  (disabled antivirus, firewall, ie settings, uninstall/reinstall itunes...)  I'm getting very frustrated & hoping someone on here can help.

All you can do is wait. Apple should have spent the money they allocated toward making iOS all white on network infrastructure to handle the traffic flow during the upgrade rollout.

  • Error message we could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active

Can Anyone help with this message which occurs when I am trying to update my iMatch, it says "gathering information about your library" & then after a few mins when the progress band gets almost to the end, I get the message "we could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active & try again"
Support has told me that its a problem with my connection, but I disagree, how come I can download countless songs from iTunes without ever getting this message, I think they are bullsh***g me to get rid of me.
I have even followed their advice & totally disabled all my antivirus, adwatch & firewall software & it still does it.
    Can anyone help with this

Hi mate, well I really dont know why but last night it started to work out of the blue, you might want to check yours again as they may have fixed a bug??
I did absoultely nothing different yesterday to make it start working, I had previously disabled all my antivirus, firewall, anti tracker etc etc & it didnt sort it.
The only thing that happened yesterday was my laptop went dead flat & I had to a reboot (dont choose System Resume, which I normally do) I chose the other option in error & had to wait nearly an hour whilst my PC "repaired files etc" & it also downloaded a load of updates (had that message "dont power off, as updates are in progress")
I really dont know if that sorted the issue or Apple fixed the bug yesterday but its working.
    Good luck

  • "We could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the itunes store. Please try again later."

When I try to open the home page in my Itunes I get the message "we could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection is not be established. There was an error in the itunes store. Please try again later." It had been working just fine, in fact I had just purchased a song & edited my itunes account. Could changing the name on my account have cause the error message or is something else going on? This is a brand new computer.

I've got an Apple ID problem, too. All of the sudden in the midnight between August 31st and September 1st, the new apps I picked up on the App Store hung forever 'Waiting..' in my iPhone and never turned 'Loading'. When a substantial amont of time had passed, they reported, they 'could not connect to the App Store' and .. disappeared! Well what they told was not perfectly true because I could however connect to the store as I could browse and pick the apps, but the apps just didn't load. I tried to log into my account in iTunes on my Windows 7 laptop, too, and there got exactly the message in the topic title.
It appeared later my Apple ID did not completely fail because when I switched from my home WiFi to the phone 3G, everything worked just as nothing happened. Logically, this intimated my WiFi had flaws. Or, some place between my WiFi router and Apple servers did, to be precise. My router was not to blame because I did no changes to it whatsoever.
All right, it is Saturday today and my ISP is running in unmanned mode meaning no hotline, but I call them on Monday unless the problem disappears by itself. I just wonder what I say, because from non-i-world point of view everything works well, and I know for sure guys in the ISP support don't own any i-stuff, (because they are all android fanatics) . I'm not telling them my Apple ID to let them reproduce the problem on their home equipment, which means I come almost totally proofless.
