Can't connect to Music Store (Windows or Mac)

I'm unable to connect to the music store from both my windows and mac machines. I get a message saying the Music Store is temporarily unavailble. It's been temporarily unavailable for over 24 hours now. Anybody else having this problem?

I can connect to the Music Store again.
I send e-mail to iTunes Store Customer Support
and I gave them permission to reset my password.
Next day I was able to connect to the Store again after 5 days.
They send me a new password today and is still working.
I don´t know was the password the promlem, but the main thing is
that I can now use the Music Store again.

Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connetion is active, then try again."
I don't know what to do anymore. It's been too long trying to figure this out so I am reaching out for help here people!!! I want to buy some more music.

  • AOL users who can't connect to music store, come here!!!!!!

I was searching for web accelerator threads, since I couldn't connect the music store, and then I typed in, "aol web accelerators," and I found a thread that could turn off my AOl accelerators, but I couldn't turn it off. But the poster helped me enough, how to connect to the itunes music store. Enough about how I found out how to connect, and just forget about what I said before and follow these steps, hopefully it works. Sign out of AOL, if you are online. Go under you START menu on your computer. Then go under ALL PROGRAMS, or PROGRAMS. Then go under AMERICAN ONLINE and from there click AOL SYSTEM INFOMATION. When that box comes up, at the top of the screen click UTILITIES and at the middle of that section it should say, AOL ADAPTER, and press REBUILD AOL ADAPTOR. Once you press that, another box will come up that says something and under it it says OK, so press OK. After that sign on to AOL untill AOL is completely connected to the internet. Then try and go into the music store.
It worked for me, so hopefully it'll work for you.
    Thanks for reading.

Yeah It would be nice if the put ALL windows forums in one section and leave it out of the mac sections, or atleast split the ipod forums one for windows one for macs but ho well...
I know for iTUnes they have a windows only section, but then for some reason they dumped all windows topics in the iTUnes for mac section too. so Time to Time we get mac posters here and have to redirect them

  • ITunes Can't Connect to Music Store or Update Server

    Hi.
Something is wrong with my internet settings and I don't know what it is. Certain programs are having trouble connecting to external sites, for example:
-iTunes won't connect to update server
-iTunes won't connect to music store
-Software Update can't connect to update server
-Gmail Notifier can't connect to mail server
I just got a new iPhone and can't configure the bloody thing - can someone please help me out?

Does any other PC/Mac experience this same issue?
If not then we at least know the issue is isolated to 1 machine having a particular issue.
But if it happens on Iphone and other machines then yes there is a network issue.
One simple thing you could do. Connect your PC directly into the cable modem see if services come back. If they do then something within the router is not working correctly.
At which point consult your router manufacture. Or even power cycle router for 5 min aka disconnect power, reconnect, reconnect to modem. And test connections again.

  • Just installed version 7.0 and can't connect to music store help?

I just installed the new version of itunes and i can't connect to the store or update my ipod softwarre as it says make sure your internet connection is active? can anyone help me?

I managed to sort it by checking firewall on my internet explorer and this didn't help but if you have norton security then you have to change the firewall settings on that to permit itunes.

  • Can't connect to music store

I was able to connect to the music store for months and now I get the error message: -3212 not connected to internet-- when in fact I am connected. I had not changed anything that I know of. I allowed exceptions in the firewalls (both the default windows and my security system) and even turned them both off and tried to log onto the music store without success. I am at a loss. Thanks.

not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this
question in but i'm having problems periodically
logging into the music store. i get a message on my
    computer that says
" Itunes could not connect to the music store. The
network connection timed out. Make sure your network
settings are correct and your network connection is
    active, then try again".
could this be my computer? or does the music store
time out sometimes? i'm sure all my network
connections are correct, as sometimes i can connect
to the music store. should i call technical support?
i really wanted to purchase some itunes. So
basically what can i do to get the music store up
and running, or is it just the music store itself
that is temporarily down? thanks for any help

I deleted all my photos off of my computer to free upspace, put my ipod on manual update for songs, but it still deleted all my photos on my ipod. what exactly again can i do to delete the photos from my computer, but prevent them from being deleted from my ipod. I thought the first answer helped me with this, but perhaps i still do not understand how to do this correctly. (delete all photos from my computer but keep them to my ipod when i update the ipod.)

  • Anyone with a MAC who can't connect to Music Store???

Is there anyone else out there on a Mac who can't connect to the Music Store?
I've been reading a bunch of threads with similar connection timeout issues but they mainly belong to Window users, users in England who are using an ISP with Orange, and users who are using personal firewalls.
Just a week ago was downloading songs fine and suddenly three days ago, I can't do anything. Redeem a code, download a song.
I've contacted Apple Customer Service but am getting the run-around with automatic emails, emails that send me to Windows articles, emails that seem to not be understanding what is going on.
Has anyone else with a MAC been able to figure out how to fix this? Is a specific modem issue (I have a Motorola cable modem)? Is this an ISP specific issue (I use Cox Communications)? Or is this a widespread Apple issue?
    Ideas? Suggestions??

  • I can't connect to music store

all of a sudden i can't connect to the music store it says to check my network settings. What should i do?
    IBM   Windows XP

I have the very same problem. Ever since I upgraded my itunes to the latest version (v 6.0.5.20) I cannot access the music store. I reinstalled it 3 times already. nothing works. "Itunes could not connect to the music store. The network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection id active, then try again."
I was able to access it 5 min prior to installing the new version, normally. I did not change my network settings and I verified my firewal and itunes is fully allowed to traffic.
We need some resolutions on this..Otherwise we won't be able to buy songs/videos and Apple won't be able to see revenue from us.
There are many others out there with the same problem.

  • Can't connect to Music Store; connection refused

Since updating to the latest version of iTunes (I am using iTunes 6), I have been unable to connect to the Music Store. However, Apple's support page only covers cases where an "unknown error" prevents connection (and, I should note, nothing it suggested helped). I, rather, get the error message
"iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was refused.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."
My network and internet connections are, otherwise, working fine; I know of nothing wrong with the settings. Now, I know, normally a "connection refused" error means you're trying to connect to the wrong port, but as I cannot find any option in iTunes to specify the host name or port number to connect to, presumably this is not the case. Note that this problem only began to occur after updating iTunes. I am baffled, and Apple's support page, as I said, was no help. (Windows Firewall is set not to block iTunes, and I have no other firewall installed.) Suggestions?
      Windows XP

The iTunes Music Store uses both HTTP Port 80 and 443. Make sure both are open in any firewall, and also make sure that the following domains are exempted in any firewall/filtering software:
    phobos.apple.com
    phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net
You might want to completely shut down any firewall temporarily, just to see if that makes a difference. If you can then connect, you know it's a problem with your firewall.
Another possibility is an erroneous entry in the Hosts file. This tip from Mark Holly resolved problem for another poster (please note that I have not tried this fix so I cannot vouch for nor support the suggestion: I provide it only as a suggestion that worked for someone else):
NOTE: this will change a Windows operating system file. This could cause you problems if not done correctly.
Using Windows Explorer navigate to the following folder:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.
In this folder is file called 'hosts'. Open it using Wordpad.
On the poster's pc there was in this file one long line. At the end of this line was "127.0.0.1 phobos.apple.com:. phobos.apple.com is the web address for the music store. What "127.0.0.1 phobos.apple.com" is doing is telling the pc to look for the web address only on the computer rather than the internet. By remove this section of the line and saving the changes you may then be able to access the music store without any problems.
IMPORTANT: Before making the changes to the hosts file I highly recommend making a backup of it. That way you can restore the original if other problems occur.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't connect to music store after updating itunes; ?connection refused?

Can someone from itunes please help. i mean ****. i guess u guys don't think of the people in ur forums that have problems. i have a problem accessing the music store. it says the network connection was refused. please check ur settings...blah blah blah. anyway the point is there are tons of people with this problem, no solutions, end of story. and lots of people have been having this problem right after updating their itunes. WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? just tell us how to fix our music store. then maybe people would actually still use itunes instead of limewire.

  • ITunes can't connect to Music Store

Ever since upgrading to latest version of iTunes, I've been unable to connect to the Music Store. The message reads "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again." I can connect to the Internet and have downloaded files from other sites, so the network connection is active. (However, I was not able to download Shockwave from a game site, nor could I use eMusic. Could downloading this latest version of iTunes created a problem affecting these also?) I even removed my virus scan (AVG) and tried to connect to the iTunes Music Store again, but that still did not work. I removed QuickTime and reinstalled it alone, that did not work. I have not removed iTunes and reinstalled it - will I lose my library if I do? It is not backed up because I have videos there and do not have a DVD burner yet. My computer has 42.9GB capacity and 34.6GB free space. Please help!

    The error message reads;
Itunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network

  • ITunes can't connect to Music Store - error 502

Since updating to iTunes version 7.1.1, I haven't been able to connect to the Music store at all. I've sent messages to Apple twice stating my problem, but I haven't gotten a response at all. My connection, of course, is fine, but I can't connect. The message I get is "iTunes cannot connect to the Music Store. An unknown error occurred (error 502). Please check to make sure your network connection is working and try again."
    Anybody have any answers?

You may want to consider performing the following to be sure no software is conflicting with iTunes:
1.) Disable all anti-virus software you may have running
2.) Disable all firewall software you may have running
3.) Disable all web acceleration software you may have running
4.) If you are connected to the internet via an internet router, please disconnect it and connect directly via your broadband modem
