Can't connect to my Base station

Hi all,
I have changed some settings in the Admin Utility (I have an AirPort Base station), and now my computer can't connect to it. Although I did a factory reset, It sometimes shows an AirPort id as the station's name, and sometimes a custom name the station had when I bought it.
Now I can't change any settings since I get the 4 error message every time I try to connect to the station. I tried this on 2 pc's.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi!
I followed these instructions:

  • MacBook Pro - Can't connect to Airport Base Station in XP

I have a new MacBook Pro running 10.4 and Win XP using Boot Camp. I also have an Airport Extreme Base Station. The MacBook finds and can use the base station perfectly when booted to 10.4. When booted into XP, it just keeps saying that it can't see any wireless networks (none available). I've tried rebooting the base station, repairing the connection in windows - Pretty much everything I can think of, but still no joy. It's really starting to stick in my craw. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get this to work I'd appreciate the help, as having to re-boot the Mac to copy stuff across to my G5 constantly is super annoying.....
    Thanks

Thank you! It's very difficult for me to even mention the "W" word without somehow belittling it. I truly loathe using that OS, but am sadly forced to since we use Access for writing up orders. Woe is me!

  • Can no longer access Graphite Base Station, Please help

For no apparent reason, my DP 800,10.4.11 can no longer access my Graphite Base Station. For years I have had no problems.
But this morning I lost access to my base station. I entered the PW as usual, but it did not allow access. I verified the PW in Keychain (and the base station name), but again I struck out. The machine is otherwise fine (or so it seems).
I have done the following, all unsuccessfully:
    • Shut down with cold restart
    • Zapped PRAM
    • Safe Booted
    • Created a new account/User
    • Ran DiskWarrior
    • Rebooted Base Station
    • Reverted to a week old backup, still no joy.
I can successfully connect to the base station with my iMac, so I am certain the base station works.
I know nothing about this stuff, but it now seems the problem is with the Airport card inside the DP 800. Is this likely?
What if anything else can I do to either isolate the problem, or better yet, fix the problem?

    Some things to try:
Create a new Location in System Preferences > Network. (Start from scratch; don't do it by modifying an existing Location.)
Turn off WEP encryption on the base station.
Physically move the base station and/or computer to overcome possible wireless interference in the original position. (Note: the base station does not need to be connected to the Internet while you test wireless connectivity.) You can also try enabling Interference Robustness (on both the computer and base station) and changing the wireless channel.
See whether the DP 800 can connect to a different wireless network.
I'm somewhat surprised you say you entered the password "as usual." Under the typical settings, your computer would remember your network and its password and join it automatically. (I know you haven't declined to store the password in the Keychain.) Moreover, your reference to the "base station name" strikes me as odd, as you do not need to know the base station name in order to connect to the network. Did you mean the wireless network name? Or might the password you have been entering be the base station password, instead of the wireless network password?

  • Can't read airport express base station configuration wirelessly

    The setup:
2TB time capsule that takes the ethernet feed from the cable modem for internet access.
Airport express 802.11g plugged into speakers for Airtunes. No ethernet connection, just a wireless network.
    The problem:
I can only read the airport express base station configuration when the mac is plugged into the time capsule by ethernet cable. This does not happen with the other mac I have on the network. It can connect to both the time capsule and the airport express without any problems. So unless I'm plugged in, iTunes and airtunes doesn't connect to the base station, and neither can Airfoil 3.5 or Airport Utility. Airport Utility does see the airport express. It just doesn't read the configuration wirelessly.
I think this had something to do with elgato eyetv not liking airfoil, but I can't say for sure.
    Any thoughts?

When I switch it on all three lights flash, but then after a while the middle one stays on and nothing happens.
You posted in the AirPort Express area, but it sounds like you have an AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS)--correct?
If so, let's start by performing a complete power recycling of your network components to make sure that the BT Voyager router "recognizes" the AEBS.
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
    - Power-off the BT Voyager modem, AEBS, & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
    - Power-on the BT Voyager modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    - Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    - Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
    - Power-off the BT Voyager modem, AEBS, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    - Power-on the BT Voyager modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    - Power-on the computer(s)

  • HT1218 I recently updated from O.S. 10.6 to Mountain Lion and had additional memory installed.  Now I can't get my wireless printer to print wirelessly.  I went to Airport utilities as suggested above, but it says it can't locate any airport base station.

I just updated from OS 10.6 to Mountain Lion.  My HPC4780 wireless all-in-one will not print wirelessly, even though it indicates it is getting a wireless signal.  I followd the "airport base station firmware updates" suggestions, but my computer can't detect an airport base station, even though I am looking at it, and the light is green like it is supposed to be.  The printer works if I connect it, but won't print wirelessly.  Any ideas?  I am trying to learn Mountain Lion's ins and outs.

  • How can i use an airport base station and multiple airport expresses with U-verse and still use wireless tv boxes?

I just got uverse, and when I put my Airport Base Station in Bridge mode I lose access to the 4 airport express stations I have. Can anyone tell me how to turn off the u-verse wireless, set up a network with all the apple stations and still have wireless u-verse tv boxes work? Thanks!

Can I relocate the airport base station to downstairs and connect it to the Sawtooth there for receiving wireless from the Verizon router and broadcast further to its wireless network?
Sorry but no the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) will not wirelessly connect to the network provided by the Verizon FiOS router.
What you could do is get another AEBS, an AX, or a Time Capsule and place that downstairs. Then use that device to wirelessly connect to the wireless network provided by your current AEBS. If your current AEBS is not 802.11n capable then you would need to use WDS to make this happen. One bad thing about WDS is that each WDS link cuts your affective wireless bandwidth in half.

  • ATT UVerse 2 wire gateway connection with Apple Base Station

I ordered AT&T UVerse which uses a wireles gateway 2wire and I'm unable to connect my Apple Base Station supporting 802.11N. I was first told that AT&T supported this when I purchased this service and durning the installation they informed me that I was unable to use the base station.
Has anyone figured out a way around this?

You just need to connect an ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the 2wire to the WAN (circle icon) port on your Apple base station and configure as follows:
Hard Drive > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Click the Internet icon in the row of icons at the top of the setup page
Look for the setting at the bottom of the page for Connection Sharing and set this to "Off (Bridge Mode)".
    Click Update
If AirPort Utility does not "see" the base station when you try to configure it using wireless, temporarily connect an ethernet cable from your computer to one of the LAN ports on the base station. Once you have it configured, you can remove the ethernet cable.
Please post back on your progress.

  • Connecting to snow base station

    Hello all,
(shame the old discussion has disappeared...)
I'm using an Ibook Clamshell 466mhz with OS10.3.9 trying to connect Wirelessly to the Snow Airport base station.
It appears that although my airport is finding networks I can't get to the base station.
I tried rebooting to OS9.2.2 and I could connect to Apple ... wireless so I came back to OS10.3.9 and trying to connect again impossible.
I tried to change the settings and back to OS9.2 it won't find anything with DHCP 169.254.157.182 adress
    anyone having an idea?!
    thanks
ps I managed to restart the snowbase on OS9.2 and it works but still not with OS10.3

Ok I updated the base station I notice strangely there is a WEP key when the MAC is using a WPA key...
I tried with no key and it works fine on my Cube OS10.4
really strange that it doesn't connect on my clamshell...
I suppose I'll get by someday as usual...

  • Connecting to net: base station settings for ADSL ethernet modem ?

White Extreme Base Station with built in modem. New Ethernet modem to replace USB modem sent by ADSL ISP (Tiscali - UK). Internet connection worked via the USB modem (without any AirPort stuff) OK, but now I'm trying to replace the USB modem with the Ethernet modem and base station. The Mac I'm setting it up with is connected to the base station via Ethernet not AirPort so I can't use the simple set up assistant software (it requires AirPort connection).
    So this is the goal:
phone line > ethernet modem > ethernet cable > base station > ethernet cable > mac.
I've already got the mac connected to the base station via ethernet fine. It's the base station to the net via the ethernet modem I'm stuck on.
How should the base station settings be, in particular the Internet tab settings in Admin Utility? I think it should set to PPPoE ? I've inserted the user name and password in there but there is no where to put the dial up number I've been given by the ISP (which is "0,38"). This number was needed when I set up the computer to connect using the USB modem (without the AEBS at all).
In the Network system preferences it says the computer is connected to the internet via ethernet, but it isn't because when I try and access a web page it doesn't appear.
    Any quick pointers much appreciated.

Absolutely any suggestion what so ever would be appreciated. I've tried many different things. One of which is on this page: http://www.tarling.info/connect-d-link-ADSL-modem-to-mac-os-x-airport-base-stati on.php which happens to be the same ethernet modem I have but the instructions don't work. On that page I'm told to set the connection to "Ethernet" rather than "PPPoE" in the Internet tab in Admin Utility. I did what the instructions say on that page, setting the base station as specified, then try and access the IP address it says via a browser (this all seems a bit odd to me but I'll follow anything blindly that might work) and the browser tries but then fails to connect to the IP address.
Again, any suggestion would be great
    TIA

  • Connecting to my base station/HD via the internet?

Forgive my general ignorance about this stuff. I have an Airport Extreme set up with an external HD and printer -- all seems to work perfectly. I'm using two laptop PCs on the home wireless network with great success.
My question: Is it possible to connect to my base station when I'm NOT at home, via the interenet? It would be very convenient to access files on the HD when connected elsewhere. I realize there are inherent security risks in doing this, but I imagine there's decent password protection, etc.
Can this be done? Haven't been able to figure out how using Apple's provided manuals. Thanks in advance.

I tried to start Back To My Mac and get an error that it isn't working properly because of a problem connecting to MobileMe. I think it is a Certificate issue. Under the Securities section of my MobileMe account the .Mac Identity Certificate is flagged as expired (so is the .Mac iChat Encryption Certificate). The expiration of the certificate never seemed to cause any problem before. I've been using using MobileMe without an issue until I tried to start Back To My Mac.
When I view the security settings of my MobileMe account, I see an expired certificate from 05/08/09, but there's also a certificate that's to expire on 04/17/10.
One potential solution that I found on the forum was to delete the old certificate from Keychain Access and then start Back To My Mac again. I tried this but unfortunately it still doesn't work.
Any ideas on how to renew the .Mac Identity Certificate ?
What you need to do to implement your original request (involving access to a disk on your AirPort Extreme) requires changes to the configuration of your AirPort Extreme. Launch AirPort Utility, double-click on your AirPort Extreme to enter "manual setup" mode, then select the "Advanced" panel and the "MobileMe" tab. Enter your MobileMe information (taking care with capitalization), then update your AirPort unit.

  • Connect AirPort Extreme Base Station to air card

How do you connect AirPort Extreme Base Station to Verizon Air Card?

Sorry, but the Air Card cannot be used with the USB port on the AirPort Extreme because that port will only work with a hard drive and/or a printer.
Suggest that you check with Verizon to see if they have an adapter or wireless router for the Air Card that will provide an Ethernet signal to the AirPort Extreme.

  • Does anyone have experience connecting Phonak Compilot Base station to AppleTV?

Does anyone have experience connecting Phonak Compilot Base station to AppleTV?  AppleTV only has digital audio output and the base station only has a single RCA I/P audio connector.. I already have DirectTV and the BluRay player connected (on individual RCA I/P cables) and these work fine..

You would need to look for a DAC and go through the optical port on the device.

  • In a WDS, how can I force a satellite base station to connect directly to the main station

I have 2 Airports Extremes (Call them A and B) and a Time Capsule set up in a WDS. All are recent vintage at V 7.6.1 firmware. Airport A is the main base station connected to the internet via ethernet to a cable modem. The satellites, Airport B and the Time Capsule, are in opposite corners of the house. Airport A is in a media closet in the middle of the downstairs, Airport A is on the east end of the house, about 40 ft away, with a wood door and drywall wall in between. The Time Capsule is on the west side of the house, with just the floor/ceiling in between it and Airport A.
When the WDS is functioning normally (most of the time), both satellites connect directly to the main station, and Airport Utility describes each connection as Excellent. But at least once a day, one of the satellites will connect to the other satellite, not directly to the main station. When this happens, Airport Utility describes the connection as Good or Average and my online throughput decreases by about 5 fold in both directions. The only thing that works every time to get it back to it's proper setup is restarting all three, which is really a pain.
Is there any way to force the satellites to connect directly to the main station?

So is it possible to connect a non-USB Mac to an
Aiport network through the ethernet port in any way?
    Yes
