Can't connect to PC server from Mac after PC is put behind switch.NE ideas?

After adding a switch in my network i bumped into some network trouble.
Here's my new setup:
Airport Extreme
iBook via WIFI
Airport Express - LAN cable - SWITCH - PC/XBOX360/PS2
All computers have internet access, i can access PC via VNC on my iBook, but connecting to server on my PC (win XP) on iBook is not possible anymore

Any hints and suggestions are highly appreciated.

Resetted all devices and now it's up and running again. Solved

  • Can't connect to terminal server via Mac RDC

Users can't log in  to our terminal server (Server 2008) from Mac using RDC 2.1. After typing in the server name, the client asks the user to login. The user fills in their username, password and domain but receives and error stating "The credentials
that were used to connect to [server_name} are incorrect".
Any user, including myself who am a Domain Admin, get this error. When I log in using the domain's Administrator account, however, I can log in just fine.
None of this occurs when trying to login from a Windows client. The Mac I tested on is running OS X 10.5.8. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
For remote desktop in MAC OS, you can try to update the new Remote Desktop Connection. New Multiple Session Support gives Mac users simultaneous access to multiple
Windows-based PCs or to a network server that hosts remote applications and files. Since it is a Universal application, Remote Desktop Connection Client 2 is compatible with the latest technologies on Windows and Mac platforms.

so, to make my tests i have a pc and mac on the same home network
to make sure it works fine, i have installed EasyPhp on my PC and MAMP on the Mac, to be able to test the connection to local MySqlServer.
the syntaxe that i use to connect to the database is this one :
    mdm.Database.MySQL.connect(host:String, port:String, compression:Boolean, userName:String, password:String, databaseName:String)
So, to connect to local MySqlServer : i have this code:
    mdm.Database.MySQL.connect("localhost", "3306", true, "root", "", "DBName");
and it work just fine on the PC using EasyPhp and on the Mac using MAMP. I can connect on my database on each plateform.

on the PC: it works just fine, i am able to connect to our database and do queries on our private server.
on the Mac : it cannot connect... errore message: unable to connect to server
I really don't know where it is coming from.

  • Can't connect to wireless printer from Mac

I have 2 wireless printers.  My Macs can connect to one, but can not find the other.  My PCs can connect to both just find.
The printer I can't connect to is a Lexmark 4650.  I'm running the install CD, but when it tries to find the printer, it doesn't find it,
so I can not complete the setup.

If you have the printers IP address open Terminal (Applications/Utilities) and at the prompt type: ping {printerIP}. You will get a reply or failure.

  • Can't connect to MSSQL server from Linux

I'm running CentOS 7. I installed the Microsoft ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server on Linux. I also installed the unixODBC package and dependencies. I can ping the SQL Server. I can telnet to the SQL server on port 1433. My config files read:

    When I run "sqlcmd -U <user> -S baew-cms01,1433" (substituting user name) I get a password prompt, then I get:
    1>
So I assume I'm connected, but I'm not sure. However, when I run "isql -v baew-cms01 <user> <password>" again substituting user and password, I get:
[IM002][unixODBC][Driver Manager]Data source name not found, and no default driver specified
    [ISQL]ERROR: Could not SQLConnect
Can anyone help me determine why I can't isql to the server?
    Thanks,
    Jack

I get a password prompt, then I get:
    1>
So I assume I'm connected, but I'm not sure. However, when I run "isql -v baew-cms01 <user> <password>" again substituting user and password, I get:
    Hello Jack,
Yes, when you get such a "1>" prompt, then you are connected to SQL Server.
Please note, isql is deprecated, better use SqlCmd. But if you want to use iSql, then you have to use the -S Parameter for the Server Name, not -v. See isql Utility for all
    Parameters.

  • Can't connect to Canon MP250 from mac mini 10.4.11????

Just trying to set up the printer for my mom and I've download the supposed drivers and something isn't working. I've changed the USB ports on the back of the mac mini and that did nothing. I've rebooted the printer. Should I reboot the computer? I've never had trouble trying to connect a printer before.

    Try this first...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when complete.
If that doesn't help, Might try these two...

I can connect via 'Connect to...' and type in the IP adres.
I can connect via iPad with a file sharing app (like ezShare)

    Any ideas?

    Try this:
    Uncheck Remote Management
    Check Screen sharing
    Add user(s)
When finished check the remote management again.
It has something to do with updating / resetting the cache files...
    It worked for me.

  • Can't connect to my Macook from my Mac Mini

    Hi,
I’m having a problem with file sharing in OSX 10.6.4
I can’t connect from the Mini to the Macbook and vice-versa.
I’m not sure why, tried to look for a discussion that would solve, but found nothing.
Basically, I can see the macbook/MAc Mini in the sharing section of the left bar, click on it, and the wheel spins forever...
Then click on connect as, and after a while I get a message saying:
There was an error connecting to the server “nameserver”. Check the server name or IP address, and then try again.
So then I do “connect to Server” from the finder, and I put the address of the server into it.
I get the same message I got before.
I’m on a wireless network, that uses no password protection, but it uses mac address identification.
    Help is welcome.
    Thanx.
    Luca

None able to help m e on this?
I think there's something in the preferences of my accounts that is creating the problem.
Is there a way to reset File Sharing preferences for a machine?
    Thanx
    Luca

    Please help!!

    Fascinated and guessing:
Something related to sock(2) because that's not part of your copied info. I'm thinking you've doubled up on sockets and the second socket doesn't exist, meaning you should be connecting to the first socket "mysqld.sock" whether automatic or not.
I've only used GUI tools on purpose, so does this mean you've already got MySQL running and you tried to launch it again manually? Perhaps you already have one instance of a db and you're trying to launch a second instance, and the two can't coexist with a single user local db?
Assuming this is all local, I'd shut down the db service and restart it, out of hand. I've seen similar messages when I set the db to start up on boot, and it didn't finish shutting down when I tried to restart it manually. Usually the GUI won't let me turn it on because it reports it's already running, but in that case it hadn't finished performing what the GUI was reporting.
    Just speculating.

  • Can't connect to a server?  Error message

Hi, I have what I believe to be a strange problem. My internet service seems to be fine except I can't connect to any pages related to my internet service provider. I have no problems connecting to any other site page. When i try to connect to my providers home page or webmail service, I get an error:
can't open page because can't connect to the server www.9online.fr
How is it possible that this is the only page that does not work, and, it's my provider? Called them, they say there is no problem on their end, and that they can connect on a mac. Is it possible to block only one page? Was it something I might have done? And, is there a fix.
    Many thanks,
    M

I ran into a problem with my provider's personal web space. Basically, all I can see now is HTML code instead of the graphics I loaded over a year ago. I tried it from a PC on my LAN and it works fine. I can only assume that a OS X update did me in.
Are you by any chance using Verizon? That's where my problem lies.
