Can't Connect to "Roaming" Network

I have set up a new Airport "roaming"network.  I have an Airport Extreme as the primary wireless router attached to the Internet.  The Extreme is attached via ethernet cable to an Airport Express.  I believe everything is set up according to Apple's instructions.
When I have both devices on, their status lights are green.  However, if a device (iPhone, PC) is near the Express, it is asked to join the network and I have to re-enter the password.  It will never connect.
If I take that same device and get near to the Extreme, it will connect, no problem.
Also, if I unplug, the Express, everything is OK (except my wireless coverage is not good enough in the house).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Let's double-check your roaming network configuration just to be sure nothing was missed.
Roaming Network Setup
Ref: See page 42 of the Apple AirPort Networks guide.
Setup the AirPort connected to the Internet to "Share a public IP address." Internet > Internet Connection > Connection Sharing: Share a public IP address
Setup the remaining AirPorts, as bridges. Internet > Internet Connection > Connection Sharing: Off (Bridge Mode) For each AEBSn in the roaming network:
For each base station:
Connect to the same subnet of the Ethernet network.
Provide a unique Base Station Name.
The Network Name (SSID) should be identical.
If using security, use the same security type (WEP, WPA, etc.) and password. Note: It is highly recommended that you use WPA2 Personal for best bandwidth performance.
Make sure that the channel is set at least three channels apart from the next base station to prevent Wi-Fi interference.

Hi, I am on holidays in Ireland and can't connect to any networks here. My mobile is a galaxy mini s4.
    Any help much appreciated!
    Thanks

Did you enable roaming on your a/c before you left? You may still be able to via your online a/c. Buying a roaming pack doesn't in itself enable roaming. See Roaming – Everything you need to know!.

  • Upgrading to xcode and can't connect to the network

Hi! I use a C++ library in my application which connects to the network (I suppose it uses sockets). I've been using it for months and I was using xcode 3.2.4. Now, I just had the great idea of upgrading to xcode 3.2.5, and I found out my application was crashing with the error:
If you are encountering this problem running a simulator binary within gdb, make sure you 'set start-with-shell off' first. 3.2.5
Ok, couldn't solve it, so went back to 3.2.4, as suggested somewhere. The application is not crashing anymore, but now the library can't connect anymore to the network. Tried to rebuild it (I didn't write the library but I have the sources) and use the new library, but nothing. Still the library can't connect to the network. I tried with every simulator.
Any idea what there could be wrong and how I may be able to solve this? Can I somehow delete manually everything related to xcode and the simulator and try to start all over again?
    Thanks!

I've been able to temporarily solve this problem by removing the entire Development directory and installing again xcode 3.2.4. Even with xcode 3.2.4 however, the same happened, and I had to do this procedure again. Now it seems to be working correctly, but it seems something very strange has happened. Hasn't anyone experienced anything similar?
    Thanks!

  • Can't connect to wireless network with Apple Computers (WRT54G)

    Hi.
I have had a password protected router (WRT54G) for over two years that any pc will connect to if I give them the password.  However, my roommate has an apple laptop and he can't connect, no matter how many times we try.  I just got an ipod touch, and it can't connect to the network either.  We are inputting our password correctly - why can't apple computers connect to my wireless network??
Again, my router is a WRT54G.
    Thanks !!!

Make sure you enter the correct password...To check your Wireless Settings follow this link
If your Wireless Security is WEP then use WEP Key1 and not the Passphrase, make sure to enter a dollar sign on your Apple Computer when you attempt to connect...If your Wireless Security is WPA/WPA2 then use the WPA Shared key and no dollar sign is required...

  • Windows 10 Build 9926 - Can't connect to this network in certain networks

I have been asked to ask this question here. The original thread can be found at:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_web/windows-10-build-9926-cant-connect-to-this-network/e9196f95-5570-4a92-8fae-d29d7d1416b2?msgId=b2246cb5-1038-40dc-98b6-249e8734eb7f
    Hello
     I have a Samsung 700T tablet.
Since I got the latest update 9926 I am having issues with my corporate network access. I have to type in my user name and password on the wireless connection. When I do I get "Can't connect to this network" message.
I have tried multiple drivers for the network card a "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6235". I am currently using latest.
I am able to connect fine with my home Wifi.
On the "System" event log I get the following error message when I attempt to login no the WiFi.
"A fatal alert was received from the remote endpoint. The TLS protocol defined fatal alert code is 42"
     Any ideas?
I have checked and my card is set to use DHCP.
    God bless,
    Bruno

Have you tried talking to your system administrator? We had a fun bug in our Cisco wireless access points and wireless controller that would
kick Win 8+ machines from even trying to connect. A very long firmware and software update process fixed it.
    --- answered back ----
    Hello DatAsian,
     Thank you for your response.
This is a very large wireless network, and as far that I know I am the only one having this issue. My other devices on the same cube work fine. The only difference is of course Windows 10. The other machines are Windows 8.1 and Windows 7.
In the past this was caused by a driver, but I have gotten about 6 different version of my wireless driver and they all have this issue.
I read on the troubleshoot about entering the wireless configuration manually by using the "Hidden network" screen. The instructions go:
    2. Tax or click to connect to a network
    3. Tap or click Hidden network tap or click Connect and then enter the network info.
I cannot find this "Hidden network" text on the "Connect to a network" screen. Am I missing something? Do I need to check something that allows me to connect to Hidden network?
One thing that I forgot to mention. I need to enter my user name and password when I enter this wireless network, since this is Employee Own device network.
    Any other ideas?
    God bless,
    Bruno
When I use an android device I had to do the following changes to the way the device connected to wireless:
    EAP Method: TTLS
    Phase 2 Authentication: PAP
Then I have to use my user name and password.
Is there a way to set windows to the same type of authentication?
    Please let me know.
    God bless,
    Bruno

  • Can't connect to external network

Switched from a Netgear router to a Cisco E2500 and now my Samsung blue ray won't connect to internet.
It says physical connection established but can't connect to external network.
Thank you for any help in this matter

Before I suggest you for any kind of troubleshooting steps, I would like to ask few questions. Let me know the name of the ISP. Leaving Samsung TV, do you have any computer which can access the internet wired and wireless? If yes, what IP address do you get in the computers?

I did everything the article suggests. And for my macbook pro it works perfectly. But all the other devices (iphone 5, 4, Macbook Air) can't connect to the network. Anybody any idea's?

Try resetting your modem. Power it down. Wait a moment, then power it up again. While it resets, do not change what is connected to it.
In another, though unrelated article, Apple recommends the following:
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.
This step really ought not be considered optional for the configuration you propose. If the problem persists after resetting your modem, reset everything else too.

  • Can I connect to wireless networks far away?

How do I connect to wireless networks further away?
Is there a way I can improve my laptops wireless range so I can connect to wireless networks further away?

    Hi!
You can only connect to wireless networks that the notebook recognizes. If the notebook recognizes a wireless network, you can connect to them. If it doesnt recognize (because it is further away) you can not connect.
Furthermore you can not improve the wireless range from the laptop. You can do this on a WLAN router, not on the notebook.
    Bye

  • Windows 8, Error: "Can't connect to this network"

I have wracked my brain, my colleague’s brains, and used my googlefu to no avail.
I have a Win8 basic (cheapest OS) HP tablet 1000G2 that I am having troubles with. I have a network that requires WPA2-Enterprise with PEAP. It will not connect to this network, it will however connect to a neighboring network without
any security settings. I have fixed this issue once before and the same fix is not working.
The kicker... I have another exact same tablet that we got the same day... No issues connecting
Problem: It does not take the security settings that the server is prompting for. It prompts me for my credentials, but gives this error: "Can't connect to this network"
I did research last time and the collective reason was that the security settings weren't correct.
    Solution that worked last time:
Connect to a network with open sec settings.
    Open network and sharing center
    Change adapter settings.
Right click wireless adapter click status
    Wireless properties.
    Security tab.
    Change my network settings
    Reconnect to my network
The tablet has been fine until today. These steps above do not resolve the issue anymore.
THERE IS NO VIRUS PROTECTION BESIDES WHAT WINDOWS OFFERS ON THIS DEVICE!
Troubleshooting steps I have tried: deleting all the wlan profiles with
     http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/manage-wireless-network-profiles
    and used http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-networking/windows-8-laptop-wont-connect-to-the-wireless/256c8bd2-e11f-4746-b3aa-3e6eb8305b56 page.
Change any properties one at a time that I thought might deal with this.
Removed all HP bloatware/3rd party connection managers.
    Troubleshooting I tried last time:
    Uninstalled and installed adapter drivers.
    Tried the windows diagnose
Googlefu "Can't connect to this network" and you come up with a bunch of pages I have clicked on them and none of the solutions have worked.
Please if you have any solutions let me know! I am at my wits end with this dang thing.

These are all logical ideas, but alas I have already checked all of this. We do not have any blocking other than credentials(which are not locked and are correct). The amount of connections would be determined by how many IP Addresses that I have(which is
a ton). Not the wireless router, because we have many other devices that connect to it just fine. No mac filter. No the other pc isn't connected. No it is only connecting to one network.
I should mention that this is in an enterprise and not an at home network. It is a WAP not Wireless Router.

  • Upgrade ip5 to ios6.0.2 and now I can't connect to the network (was fine with 6.0.1).

I just upgraded my ip5 to ios6.0.2 and now I can't connect to the network (was fine with 6.0.1). I bought the phone  online in Canada but have a Hong Kong simcard. Any solution to connect to network?

I bought mine in the US and activated using a German SIM.  It worked fine first on 6.0.1.  After upgrading to 6.0.2 the SIM does not work.  I have reset the reset the phone and still does not work. I loaded a new SIM and the phone worked for few minutes before going to Searching mode after I restarted the device.  I am being told by the Genius Bar team that this is a Hardware failure.

  • Can't connect to wifi network after iOS update

Can't connect to wifi network after iOS update.

This does not work in my case.
Situation: we have wifi at home using WPA encryption.
The iPod Touch 8GB connected seamless to this network and anything was ok. After some days i could no longer connect, the iPod told me "connection to network 'networkname here' failed". Deleting the network and reenter the (correct) passphrase was no help, but changing the SSID on the router was helpful: the iPod could connect again ... for several days.
Now things stopped working again. Resetting network settings did not help either.
The iPod can see the network, is asking me for the passphrase and after several seconds telling me: can't connect. On the router log i don't even see a dhcp request, but other laptops work fine with the same wifi network.
That's a mess, i cannot and will not change the SSID every some days just to get the iPod working again.

  • Hello my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi

Hello to all, with my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi. This only happens if I apply protection to the network. Unprotected my Iphone connects fine. Obviously the password to write error-free. I can not figure out what depends on this factor, however, another iphone connects fine. Help me please.

I have a similar, but slightly different problem. My iphone 4 recgonizes my home wifi and shows it under Settings, but will not access it, no signal shown, just 3G.  It will access other wifi signals.  My wife's iphone works fine, as does an ipad and macbook.  This is new for my iphone, about 2-3 days.

I updated my iPad 2 software to 7.0.3?(the latest update), and now I can't connect to my network.  I tried reset and restart and that did not work.  I have no network problems with my other devices.

    Try reset all settings

  • I can't connect to wifi network and bluetooth on iPhone 4S.  Need help.  Have already rebooted everything and reset network setting

I can't connect to wifi network and bluetooth on iPhone 4S.  Need help.  Have already rebooted everything and reset network setting

I have the same problem; tried a phone restore, both restoring data and setting up as new phone with factory settings, reset all settings, re-boot, remove apostrophe, put in fridge, you name it!
I think there's quite a few iphone 4s users with the same problem!
I called Apple they said it's a hardware problem, but it has worked for nearly two years; they say go to the Apple store and they can provide a replacement phone for approx. £150!
I've been into the O2 shop where I bought it and they knew the problem exactly; said they had sent a few phones off for repair and had them back awith a report they cannot fix it because it's a software problem!
An assistant in the shop had the same issues; logic says it's a software problem and hopefully Apple will fix it with a patch but at the moment they seem to be avoiding everyones comments!
If anyone else has any ideas these would be appreciated?

  • My Ipod Touch keeps saying it can't connect to my network?

My Ipod Touch keeps saying it can't connect to my network? Half the time it does after touching it over and over and hitting dismiss over and over. My server shows up though all the time its realy wierd. Then sometimes when I get it conected and go to open up Safari then it drops it all over agin can you help me solve this problem?

    Hi pwrhuskers,
Try Resetting Network Settings on the iPhone, go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings.
What type of wireless router are you using? What type of security is being used and how many characters are in the network key?
If you are using WEP, you'll want to use a 5 or 13 character key as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1344
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 provides other general Wi-Fi troubleshooting tips.
