Can't Connect to Router Using Airport Through Mac Mini
Hey guys.
I got a new 13" White MacBook in Jan. of this year (2009) and it hasn't given me any trouble, until now.
I've been able to connect to any wireless network before, both through modems and computer-to-computer.
However, my new router is giving me some trouble. It's a Tenda brand router connected via Ethernet cable to a new MacMini. The internet on the MacMini is working fine, but I can't seem to find the wireless network the modem should be giving off on my MacBook. As I said earlier, I've never had any problems with my airport before.
I have all the information needed to connect to the modem (IP, Subnet Mask, Router , and DNS Server) but I'm not sure where/how I'm supposed to enter them.
Can someone help?
Well, i fixed it! Thanks to other questions in the Mac Forums, i learned that if i turned on the Internet Sharing in my System Preferences i could use the Mac Mini as a sort of 'host' computer. For any having the same or similar problems, here's the thread:

Can i connect to bluetooth headsets to a mac mini?
I am trying to connect two motorola H730 bluetooth headsets two a mac mini for video presentations. Basically what i am doing is teaching two different groups of people in two places using one computer. Is this possible? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
My back up plan was to connect each motorola H730 to a mac mini and an i mac, and treat them as two seperate computers for each location.
Hopefully i was able to articulate what i am trying to do as i am barely able to understand it myself.
Thanks.Ahum... You will have client again and it is much easier than you think it is.
I did want to upgrade to OS X Server (Mountain Lion), but that does mean I first had to install Mountain Lion. At this point there was no server application any longer as everything from Lion Server will be archived.
If you do not want to upgrade to OS X Server, just follow my upgrade path, but stop before downloading the Server app from the App Store... Simple... -
Can't connect to Internet using airport
I am trying to connect to internet wirelessly, using my Airport Extreme (802.11n), but it won't work. When I use the ethernet cable directly to my MacBook Pro (as I am now) internet comes fine. I have done many tests, change configuration, but nothing works. I really don't know what the problem is and what to do.
Thks for helping,
MarcoJust as an update, I have been able to reestablish connection by resetting the airport base.

Can't connect to my Macook from my Mac Mini
Hi,
I’m having a problem with file sharing in OSX 10.6.4
I can’t connect from the Mini to the Macbook and vice-versa.
I’m not sure why, tried to look for a discussion that would solve, but found nothing.
Basically, I can see the macbook/MAc Mini in the sharing section of the left bar, click on it, and the wheel spins forever...
Then click on connect as, and after a while I get a message saying:
There was an error connecting to the server “nameserver”. Check the server name or IP address, and then try again.
So then I do “connect to Server” from the finder, and I put the address of the server into it.
I get the same message I got before.
I’m on a wireless network, that uses no password protection, but it uses mac address identification.
Help is welcome.
Thanx.
LucaNone able to help m e on this?
I think there's something in the preferences of my accounts that is creating the problem.
Is there a way to reset File Sharing preferences for a machine?
Thanx

Just trying to stream music from my iphone to my mac mini speakers. Any way I can do that in a similar way that I can do it via applte tv?
No.
Since all music on your iPhone should be in your iTunes library on the Mini if that is the Mac you sync your iPhone with, play the music from iTunes on your Mini through the Mini speakers. If the music is in your iTunes library on another Mac, set up Home sharing to play the music in your iTunes library on another Mac with iTunes on your Mini. -
Can't Connect to Internet using AirPort Extreme Card and DLink Router
I have tried just about everything, but I can't seem to connect my MAC OS X 10.3.9 to the internet. I am using the Airport Extreme Card and no networks show up. I am trying to connect to my DLink router. I was told by DLink that it is compatible with AirPort Extreme cards, but the guys at Best Buy were unable to connect to their wireless routers, other than their Mac Router. Please let me know if you have a solution! Thanks

What Mac do you have?
Do you have iMac G5 or a Power Mac G5?
Did you install the AirPort Extreme card yourself? -
Can't connect windows xp using airport extreme to internet
Hi i just purchased my airport extreme base station. I tried connecting it to my windows xp for internet and so i can have wireless connection to my macbook.
Im using timewarner cable as my ISP connected through ethernet. I choose DHCP in the configuration to detect IP address provided but I couldn't connect and it tells me invalid IP address.. (i followed the instruction from the manual)... I tried to do it manually then I typed my IP address, but it asks for
1. Subnet Mask- not sure so I just went by whats default which is 255.255.0.0
2. router address- I dont know where to get this.. tried 10.0.1.1, 10.0.1.2, 192.168... no clue where to get this...
The light was on amber when I used DHCP (automatic)- which gives me error of wrong IP address
After I did it manually with my IP address its now green still no internet connection (problem is probably subnet mask and router address)
can anybody help please?
HP 1240n Windows XP Macbook
HP 1240n Windows XP MacbookAce83, Welcome to the discussion area!
I tried connecting it to my windows xp for internet...
The cable modem should be powered off and connected to the WAN port on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS). The PC should be connected to one of the AEBS's LAN ports.
Configure the AEBS to use the same settings as the PC was using to connect to the Internet. The PC should now be configured to use DHCP and Ethernet to get on the Internet. -
Can't connect to router through airport (problem with encryption)
We have a small office network with several computers connected to a wireless router. A while back all the macs using airport suddenly were no longer able to connect to the internet (email still worked fine) while the windows computers on wireless and macs on lan still work fine.
The router is using WPA personal encryption, and when using this the macs can connect to the wireless network no problems, but then they aren't able to use the internet. as i said though email still works without any problems. We spoke to the tech support at our ISP but macs aren't very common in south africa, so they just suggest we change the encryption from WPA to WEP encryption. I tried both 64 bit and 128 bit but every time i get an error saying: There was an error joining airport network. If I turn off encryption though everything works fine and the macs are able to access the internet without any problems. Anybody have any ideas what might be wrong?I am having the same problems since 3 days ago (Imac core 2 duo 20" 2,16). I think it was after the 10.4.10 upgrade.
I haven't tested if I can connect an open network (without encryption).
I can't connect to internet using the wifi network... sometimes, i can't even locate the SSID's network.
Even using windows xp with bootcamp i can't use the network, so it's really strange. This can only be firmware/hardware... cause XP on my mac was able to connect and now it can't too. I tried with other computers (notebook) and i can connect without problems.
Have you solved this issue ?
Anyone can help?

Problems connecting to Internet using Airport - can anyone help ?
I'm using a MacBook running OSX 10.4.11, trying to connect to internet using Airport. I connected OK first time, but after powering off the Mac, each time I now try to connect again, the Mac can't find the network. Network Diagnostics can't fix it either. I use a Linksys wireless router, connected to an ADSL modem. I use PPPoE. I live in Borneo, and the line connection is not great, occasionally the phone line drops out and then modem reconnects itself, I wonder whether this is causing some sort of problem with IP settings. The only way I can connect wirelessly is to start the Mac, reboot the modem, then the router, and plough through Network Diagnostics. A real pain. Help much appreciated.
I have a Linksys Wireless-G (model WRT54GS). This is working ok because I have two other wireless devices (internet radio and iPod touch) which connect fine. Firmware is up to date. I've done a bit more troubleshooting, and the the problem is connected with the phone line, which drops out all too regularly. Each time the phone line drops out, the Mac is unable to connect to the network wirelessly. After going through Network diagnostics, and rebooting the modem+router, it comes with a message saying "Network changes detected", and then I can reconnect OK. The funny thing is, the IPod touch can always reconnect no problem, even if the line has dropped out since the last login. Given that I've got a crappy phone line conection, is this normal or is there something wrong with my Mac settings ?

Can I connect an A1084 model Airport Express using current version of Airport Utility
Can I connect an A1084 model Airport Express using current version of Airport Utility?
You will need an older 5.x version of AirPort Utility to be able to administer the older AirPort Express. That would mean that you need to have....or be able to borrow for 10-15 minutes......a Mac running Leopard (10.5.x), Snow Leopard (10.6.x), or a PC with AirPort Utility installed on the device.

Can't connect to Internet via Airport
I have a PPPOE ISP account. Before upgrade to Lepoard, just fine. Now I can only connect to internet using cable via my router moderm. I cannot connect my wireless router.
The wireless router will appear to be connected but it said self assigned IP. If I hardcode an IP eg. 192.168.11.2 to it. The Airport status will become connected but still cannot dial into my PPPOE account. An message no PPPOE service will appear. But if I plug in the LAN cable, everything work fine. Why this happen? My wireless router work fine with my Window XP and my Mac (before upgrade to Lepoard) What configuration should I change? I am an idot to networking. I have download all patch and has tried boot to safe mode etc.
Anyone can help?By power downs do you mean Sleep?
One thing that might work is to set the IP to Static in Network>Configure IPv4>DHCP with Manual Address. -
Cant connect to internet using airport?!!!
Hi,
Suddenly and out of nothing, I just dont seem to be able to get connect to internet using airport. I restarted all devices but it still not working. Though I can connect to my wireless network using airport, I cant use the internet. I can use the internet from other devices and I've already checked my settings.
ThanksHi - what do you mean when you say that you "installed Airport Express on laptop" - do you mean "with your laptop using the Windows 7 version of the Airport Utility? - and what wireless router are you referring to? - if you clarify these issues, maybe someone can help you

Can't Connect to Router Manager
I want to review the Router Statistics but can't get connected.
I have typed in the address,
http://192.168.1.1/
Also tried via the Router Icon &
http://voyager220v.home/
but get message "Can't Connect to Router"
All other web sites are easy to get into.
Any idea of why this problem is occurring?
Solved!
Go to Solution.Have you tried rebooting the Voyager or resetting it to default by pressing the recessed reset button.
Are all the lights on at the front, and the correct brightness?
Failure of the Voyager 220V power supply was fairly common, but any 12V regulated power unit will work, if it has failed.
The Voyager range of modems were some of the best, I still have quite a few as standby routers and extra wireless points.

I'm trying to get a bug database running (mantis) under Mac OS X Server 10.4.4 that I can access from local clients.
I'm trying to follow directions at http://www.mantisbugtracker.com/manual/manual.installation.php
without knowing anything about mysql or php and I'm stuck on step 3:
"Next we will create the necessary database tables and a basic configuration
file."
I get a message saying
"Does administrative user have access to the database? ( Lost connection to MySQL server during query )"
I don't even know if following the mantis directions has resulted in the creation of a database or not. Where would it be?
Thanks for any help.
Intel iMac Mac OS X (10.4.10)I've just done a clean install of OSX Server and added the latest MYSQL packaged installer. Afterwards I found the lock file in /private/tmp/mysql.lock
The easiest way to solve this problem is to create a symbolic link so that the lock file appears to be in right place.
e.g.
cd /var
sudo mkdir mysql <== this assumes the directory is missing
cd mysql
sudo ln -s /private/tmp/mysql.sock mysql.sock
After this msql commands should work fine, and you've not fiddled with the security settings on users/groups.
