Can't connect to Server- Software Update

Hello everyone. I recently bought an eMac off of eBay and I wanted to do a software update, but when I do so it tells me that there was a network problem, so when I run the network diagnostics it tells me that while I'm connected to the internet, it can't connect to the server "boemac2.jackson.k12.ga.us"
I don't know what that server is, I'm using a cable router for my internet connection. But I really need help because it won't let me install newer programs such as Safari 3 without the latest security update.

I got the same message in the last few days on my iBook G4. It appeared after an update. I then found that Safari also failed to work but Firefox was OK. In addition I couldn't connect set up my wireless connection at home although my MacBook worked fine.
Go into System Preferences then Network. Have a look at Built-in Ethernet by clicking on Configure. Now look on Proxies. Has a tick mysteriously appeared on the Web Proxy (HTTP) setting and the FTP proxy set to 127.0.0.1? Mine certainly had altered despite the fact that the padlock symbol was clearly closed and no alteration should have been possible.
If you find it simply remove the tick and save the settings. Restart the Mac and with a bit of luck it should be resolved.

  • Can't connect to the Software Update server (lionserver.t3m.private)? Please help!

Has anyone experienced this; Can't connect to the Software Update server (lionserver.t3m.private)?
I can no longer sync my iPhone as it needs an iTunes update. When I select update software and I get the error message above.

If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try an OTA (over the air update)
    Change DNS Servers
    Settings -> Wi-Fi
Click the blue arrow on your connected network
Delete everything in DNS and replace it with 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
    Try again
If this works, you will probably want to remove the WiFi network using "Forget This Network" and then reconnect to it to get your original DNS servers back. Alternatively, make a note of the original DNS servers before deleting them and replace it after you are done.
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try through iTunes
    On your Mac
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network.
Select the network connection service you want to use (such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet, unless you named it something else) from the list, and then click Advanced.
Click DNS, and then click Add at the bottom of the DNS Servers list. Enter the IPv4 address for the DNS server.
    208.67.222.222

  • Can't connect to internal Software Update Server

    Greetings All,
I just upgraded my XServer from Tiger to Leopard. Before the upgrade, I was using the server as a Software Update Server pushing all updates to Tiger clients. Now after upgrading to Leopard and installing the Software Update Service, it seems that my Leopard (haven't tried Tiger) clients are not able to connect to it internally - they go straight to Apple. I started the service and configured the client with:
    defaults write com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL http://10.0.1.249:8088/
But it seems to not work. Other question is, will Tiger clients be able to connect to the Leopard server for OS updates? Thanks in advance,
    -andy-

I've got two 10.5.4 servers (one upgraded throughout the 10.5 life-cycle and one freshly installed at 10.5.1 and combo-updated) and I've never (!!) been able to get them to connect to my Software Update Server (SUS). 10.4 clients can connect and indicate the domain in the SoftwareUpdate title bar. I can copy and paste the same command I make 10.4 clients connect into each 10.5 box I have and none of them will resolve. They all default back to Apple's servers.
When I run "defaults read com.apple.SoftwareUpdate" I get the proper domain listed and it looks just like 10.4 client's responses. No 10.5 clients or servers will attach to my SUS. Why do 10.4 clients and servers? I even recently upgrade the SUS from 10.4.11 to 10.5.4 and Tiger clients still work, 10.5's do not.

I updated my iphone and ipad and desktop when the new update came out. • "Can't connect to iPad Software Update Server" Error. How Can I Fix This?

I keep getting an error saying, "The iPad cannot be updated at this time because the iPad software update server could not be contacted or in temporarily unavailable.", whenever I try to update to 3.2.2 or restore my iPad. This has been happening for a couple of months now. Can someone please help me!? Apple only addresses this issue for Windows. And have searched all of google and can't find anything.

Ahha! I have just overcome this problem myself.
Being a highly tech savvy I immediatly assumed that this was a most complex and difficult problem to overcome. So naturally I started looking at things like port 80 and internet proxy options.
But alas, it was my anti-virus which caused this error! A most dispicable fiend.
    Solution:
I have Avast anti-virus so I will tell you how I disabled mine.
Open up the program and its friendly user interface, go to Settings at the top. In the newly opened Settings window go to the left and chose Troubleshoot from the nice little list at the bottom and then in the check box area that has appeared uncheck the Avast defence module. Now hit OK / APPLY.
Now you may close Avast completely. (Since exitting out only hides it in the background)
Hit control+alt+delete and open the Task panel.
Scroll across from programs -> processes,
Now find the AvastUI.exe or something along those lines and end that process.
Avast! It is now closed! and you may Restore/Update at will!

  • Can't connect to iPod software update server??

    Hi,
With my touch connected to my windows laptop, I click 'Check for Update' and the following error message appears: "The iPod software update server could not be contacted".
Anyone know how to get round this?
    Thanks

I think it may be an iTunes 7.6 problem...
I've upgraded my mac mini with all the relevant updates (itunes 7.6 included), downloaded the 1.1.3 update and got the same problem as everyone else.
However...my macbook doesn't have the updates and I've just hooked my ipod touch to it and my itunes 7. is downloading the update as I speak.
Will post again once the download completes and let you know if the firmware upgrade installs ok.
    Cheers,
    Alex.

  • Can't connect to apple software update server

    Hi,
I have been having this issue since i clean install Maverick a few weeks back. It seems intermittent as there are certain rare times when i don't receive such errors. The error will occur when i click the 'Update' tab.
Here's a screenshot i took of the error when i click the 'update' tab. I tried telnet 17.164.1.22 433 and it was connected. *Baffled*
I'm located in Singapore, if that matters.
    Can someone advise?

    No its MBP Mid 2012
I fixed it by downloading another copy of Mavericks and update on the top of the current version.(NOT FORMAT OR REINSTALL)
    Now it fine.
    Thanks for your help

  • Apple tv can't connect to server after update

I just updated my apple tv after being bugged constantly to do it. Usually it takes only a few minutes, but this time it took about 90 minutes. Now, even though I can connect to you tube, trailers, and the main splash screen comes up, I cannot log in or connect to the server. What is going on????

Saw some other posts which said to unplug for 30 seconds... that worked!

  • ITunes can't connect to server after update (window7)

After I installed itunes 12.1 on my laptop that uses windows seven, I cannot connect to the itunes store. The error it says is
"Itunes cannot connect to iTunes Store, Make sure you network connection is active and try again"
I have tried to solve it by flushing DNS settings, but the problem still persists.  As for the pop up blockers, I don't really know which popblockers i need to get rid of.  I got this information off of iTunes for Windows: iTunes Store connection troubleshooting - Apple Support
I ran a diagnostic and this is the error that popped up. PLEASE HELP!  I HAVE TO USE ITUNES TONIGHT.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

  • I can't update my ipod. When I check for updates it says "can't connect to server"(despite internet connection being fine). Also, when I try and update software it starts then stops after 2 seconds

I can't update my Ipod. When I check for updates it says "can't connect to server" despite internet connection being fine. When I receive a software update message;I say install and it starts updating then stops after 2 seconds. Help! (It is a 3rd gen IPod touch(I think)). Presumably as a result of this, I have tried to put my library onto my gf's new iPod touch and it just charges it..doesn't download my library onto the touch).

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
