Can't connect to the LDAP server

I have two PCs on my network. Both have the Softerra LDAP Browser program. One can connect to the OpenLDAP.com LDAP server without issue, but my other computer gets a "can't connect.." error.
The box that can connect is my own personal machine, and the box that won't connect is a notebook given to me by my work. Are there any specific settings that could be changed to prevent LDAP access?

This sounds like a problem with the networking configuration of the notebook. It's certainly not a JNDI problem.

Unable to connect to LDAP server
I have imported atr certificate also by using command:
"keytool -import -alias jag -file c:\x225.cer -keystore c:\j

I am running my java code from eclipse. And do i have to set any thing in eclipse for certificate. I Have imported certificate from command prompt.
Can any one please help me.It is very important for me.

As previously said network is a possible cause.Other things could be time on filer is too far off time on DC.AD object for filer has been deleted or change by a Windows admin.If all users are experiencing a problem, you may need to rebind it to AD - run CIFS setup at command prompt

I have trying for days to download Firefox 4.1. It goes through all the motions, but when it gets to the final step, it can't connect with the download server. What should I do? It keeps telling me this download is strongly recommended.

Error : Cannot connect to the LDAP server

I have exported a file called "test1.ldif"
and then import in a new Oracle ldap server using the command:
ldapadd -p 389 -D cn="directory manager" -w <password> -f test1.ldif
But there is error "Cannot connect to the LDAP server".
Actually, I'm migrating the ldap data from 1 machine to another, please advise. Thanks

Check your ldap port, by default it is 4032...

I don't know how to "connect to the update server" but I guarantee that I AM connected to the internet!

Well I am feeling a bit silly now because that was all I had to do. In the past Workgroup Manager had always opened right up to the list of my users, I never even thought to click on that but apparently that was all that was needed.
I still am not sure how the iChat Server preferences changed themselves on me, but it is not the first time I have had weird "settings" issues with our Snow Leopard Server.

"Just a reminder that we need to verify that your membership is current. You can keep accessing Adobe Photoshop CC offline, but if you don't connect to the Adobe Server within the time displayed, your product will stop working."
Onderaan heb ik alleen de optie om op "Retry" te klikken, of "OK".
Wat moet ik hiermee doen?
Every time when I launch Photoshop or Lightroom I am getting the following message:

"Safari can't connect to the proxy server"

Hello again...
My 10.6 Server is up and running! thanks for all the help...however...
When I try to access the internet via Safari from the actual server, I get the "Safari can't connect to the proxy server" message" but all the client machines can successfully access the internet....
I'll start to read up on proxies but if someone can offer a suggestion in the meantime, that would be terrific. I know it's something simple I am missing...

No snarkiness taken Mr. Hoffman...As a full-time high school teacher, I've been setting up our small school server on my own time for the past three months...with the help of the server docs, manuals, and the great help found within this forum, we are finally to a point where we can begin using the server.
What I'm just not understanding is WHAT proxy do I use? I see all kinds of proxy servers out there but is there a specific one I should be using?
Again, forgive me for my ignorance on this matter...I just don't understand why after a year of not using a proxy server, all of a sudden we need to have one? And this issue came about when Safari was unable to "connect to the proxy server"...

I have been getting this message on MAC OS 10.6.3 "Software Update can’t connect to the update server. Make sure you’re connected to the Internet, and then try again". Internet is working fine for everything else. Updating to 10.6.8 and applying all the security updates and patches [directly downloading from the apple website] has not resolved the issue. Read somewhere about a software update enabler for 10.6, installed it, but not helping.. [not sure of the update server settings to be entered] .Is there no way to make the software update work from the Apple Start Menu??

Why not do a "Restore" in iTunes to set it back to factory settings? That will eliminate any previous information that is causing you issues in use. You will have an iPod which you can sync as if it is new with your settings and info.

Just installed my new ATV and everytime I go select a radio station it spins and spins and spins - then when I go back to th emenu and then back into the radio to try again I get "Could not connect to "DEFAULT_SERVER" seems pretty specific!? ITunes "can't connect to the CDDB server" for tracks on a CD (but can once I've imported them)

When I insert a CD into my computer, iTunes cannot get the track names before importing, I get the "Unable to connect to the CDDB server. The network cannot be reached." Bizarrely, however, once I import the tracks onto my PC and ask iTunes to 'Get Track Names' for the files in my library, it can do it fine. I am also able to access the iTunes Store without trouble.
Also, in what I'm sure is related, the Apple Software Update program does not work anymore ("The server could not be found"), so I've to manually download new versions of iTunes from the Apple website.
I've had this problem for months, and I've tried pretty much every solution I'd seen posted for similar problems (reinstalling iTunes, disabling my virus protection, updating Gracenote, ensuring the proxy settings are automatic) with no success.

I've just tried putting my computer into Safe Mode (with netwroking) to check if there was some other program stopping it from working properly, but iTunes still acted the same. It's more of a minor inconvienience than a problem, seeing as I can just get track names after importing and update manually, but it's still pretty baffling.

I'm having a problem I hope you can help with please!
I recently installed mysql and phpmyadmin... I can access mysql perfectly from the command line, and can access it partially through phpmyadmin although there are some restrictions that I haven't figured out how to change yet (despite editing php.ini, configure.inc.php and others), but on the whole inside phpmyadmin I can see all the databases I've uploaded with the command line and all the users are there and can be edited. Unfortunately whenever I try to connect to a mysql database using a username and password that was created in phpmyadmin (or anywhere!), I get a 'cannot connect to the database server error'. I've checked and rechecked the username, the passwords, the database names and the host names a thousand times but nothing I change is working.
Is there a special prefix my mac could be adding to the database, usernames or host names?

I finally figured it out...
it needed to be 127.0.0.1 rather than localhost!
