Can't connect to WiFi after OS update and reboot of Playbook

Phoned RIM Support, and was advised it is a known problem, and our best people are working on it. Not sure how they will communicate fix to a device that may be corrupted.

I've been having the same problem for the past couple of weeks after an OS update.  I had previously tried rebooting my router but I mustn't have turned it off long enough because I tried it again today and it seems to have solved the problem.

  • Can't Connect to WiFi After Updating To 2.2

    Hey guys,
I just updated my software to 2.2, and now all of a sudden i can't connect to my wireless router at home. I can easily connect to it using my phone, but can't using my ipod. I've searched around a bit, and still can't find a solution.
When i go to settings, WiFi Networks, then i click on the blue arrow next to my router name, the only thing that is entered is my i.p address, and subnet mask. The router and DNS fields are blank. The i.p address number that was automatically entered into it is 169.254.46.155, and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0
I have tried resetting the network settings, and turning my D-Link DI-524 Router on and off, but still no luck. In Safari i get the message "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet" even though the wifi logo is active on the top, and it has a full strength bar of 3 bars.
Any help guys? It's really starting to **** me off. Is it a problem with 2.2 in general? My router doesn't have a WEP key by the way. I chose not to give it a password.
    Cheers for the help.

Thanks for your offer to help.
I have wasted considerably more time than Mike even - let's say 24 hours spread over 4 weeks trying to get a Touch to connect to my wifi network. For the first two weeks, the Touch saw my network but refused to connect. It had a self-assigned IP 169 address. I did all the recommendations and suggestions - renewed the DHCP lease (20 times?), reset the network settings (50 times?), restored the entire Touch to factory settings (twice), entered and reentered and double double double checked the passwords and the case sensitivity and so on (more times than it is polite to tell you), and it still wouldn't connect.
Then, last week, it stopped even seeing my network. I suppose the benefit of that is that at least no-one can now advise me to renew the lease or fix the 169 IP - I can't even see the bxxxxy lease or IP setting any more! The error message is "could not find the network xxxx".
So, please do point me in the right direction - I'll be eternally grateful. I've just totally reset the Touch (again) to out of the box factory settings - and it doesn't see the network transmitted from an Apple Time Capsule one foot away from it.
The home network was totally reset yesterday afternoon, so I do know what the settings are.

  • 2007 security update can't connect with wifi after sleep

After applying the 2007-001 security update I could no longer get to the any web pages even though internet connect showed I had a good connection. After checking my network settings I noticed that my Power book had a self applied IP address. I deleted the internet .plist files in my user/library/preferences folder and rebooted. Then my network settings showed a valid ip address. After putting the Power book to sleep for a while. I had to go through the whole routine again. Has anyone found a fix for this?

    Hello Peter
Albeit this is a late reply, I have found that if I disconnect from
the net via the Airport symbol on the Finder's task bar that, works for me.
It is odd since this issue is most prevalent with 10.4.8 & intel in particular.
However I have experienced it on my powerbook running 10.4.8.
My Flat panel runs os 10.3.9 but is connected via ethernet & that does not have this issue.
Make sure your Router/Modem is updated on it's firmware.
I don't know how you connect, however try DNS Server #'s if you do not have those entered in your, DNS server field, TCP/IP tab, Network, In System pref.
Look for your ISP's server # here
FYI, for many ppl.in the States, the Verizon numbers work well.
Verizon (Level3) - these are not restricted to Verizon customers
    4.2.2.1
    4.2.2.2
Of course the DNS maybe filled all ready & have nothing to do with
your problem, thought I would add it.
Hope this helps some, if you look at your post.

  • Can't connect to wifi after connecting to Starbucks wifi

I know it sounds awkward that I can't connect to any wifi network after I connected to Starbuck's at&t wifi network, but that is the last time I've been able to. I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence or if that is the reason I haven't been able to after this. I had 2.1 since day 1 and it worked always perfectly until Starbucks that one time. A few days later, I updated to 2.2 and still everything is fine except for the wifi, same issue.
Issue: Wifi is on and it just keeps showing "Choose a network..." with the icon spinning, but no networks show up. Ask to Join networks is on, but when I go to any program, it doesn't ask to join anymore. I've tried resetting network settings, turning on/off normally, doing a hard reset by holding down and not turning it off normally. I don't know what else to try. Nothing with the network router has changed, but even then I would expect it to list it at least or show all the other networks around the apartment, but none show up. My wife's phone connects to it fine. I've also tried clicking on Other... and then putting in the network name and it doesn't find anything. Something is abnormally wrong.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hmmm.....
It's worth a hard reset (press and hold the sleep/wake button and the Home button together, ignoring the 'slide to power down' message and then release them when the display blanks. Press the sleep/wake button until the logo appears and then wait for the restart which takes a little while...)
Apart from that, it may be worth clearing Safari's cache, etc..... (Settings > Safari > Clear History/Cookies/Cache)
    In any event, 'Good luck'!!
If all else fails it IS possible that some WiFi hotspots are VERY hot and emit more power than is really allowable in the Standards, resulting in 'frying' your WiFi receiver (possible but unlikely). If this is the case, return your iPhone to an Apple store with the 'WiFi not working' message but don't mention Starbuck's or anyone else.....just don't use Starbuck's WiFi service ever again!

  • LG G3 cant connect to wifi after Lollipop update

After getting the update a couple days ago, I have not been able to connect to my WiFi. Had no issues prior to the update. I have done everything Ive read online, with no success. I am assuming this is one of the many Lollipop bugs? Has there been a fix discovered yet? Obviously this is a big issue as I don't want to use my data. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I can connect to wifi, but it is so slow as to be unusable. I contacted Verizon via Chat and they sent me here. They also said, " I do show we are currently investigating that issue."
Hopefully, an update will be coming soon. I do not want to go through the hassle of a factory reset, especially considering what I have read from those that did and are still having problems.

  • Can't connect to WRT54G after firmware update

I just tried to update the firmware on my WRT54G (version 8.0) and have not been able to connect to the router since then. The firmware said that it had been updated successfully, however I have been unable to connect since it reset itself, and the Ethernet and Internet LEDs are all constantly on even though nothing is connected (the power light on the other hand is behaving normally, not blinking or anything). I have tried resetting the router by holding down the reset button for 30 seconds, but this does not change anything, the router still cannot even be pinged. If anyone can give me any help at all with this, it will be very much appriciated. Thanks.

It sounds like the router might already be dead.  But there is always hope that you might be able to revive it.
You need to try again to reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

  • Can't connect to Airport after firmware update

Ever since I updated the firmware on my Airport I can't connect to it any more. I'm pretty sure I installed everything properly and reset the Airport several times but still no luck in connecting to it. Any suggestions?

Firmware updates on the Express sometimes results in scrumbled settings.
Check that WiFi is disabled on your MacBook.
Then connect (preferabely with a LAN-Cable) the MacBook to the Express.
Open Airport Utility on the Mac and switch to the Express.
Use the wizzard to set up the Express from scratch or use manual setting zu check the settings.

  • Can't connect to internet after software update to iBook G4

I recently installed updates to itunes, quicktime, and the the latest security update for os x 10.3.9 on my iBook G4. Now I can't connect to the internet via my airport express. This happened the last time I updated the software, but I can't remember what I did to fix it. Can anyone help?

I am experiencing the exact same problem with my sister's laptop. iBook G4 10.3.9 I just installed Security update 2007-008 and quicktime update. After the reboot her airport connected to the house router, but will not acquire an IP address. The other computers in the house have remained connected to the router without change. I have a another iBook G4 running on 10.4.11 with the same network settings and I have no trouble whatsoever. I re-enetered the WAP password, reorganized the network connection priorities and repaired permissions, but cannot get the computer to acquire an IP address.
