Hi SBrwn,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The symptom you're describing can be frustrating to troubleshoot as our options are limited. I do suggest resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) if you have not already. This step can help you regain use of USB and Bluetooth.
Follow these steps to reset the SMC on your iMac:
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
Shut down the computer. [by holding down the power button]
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
You can find these steps and more information at this link:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
All the best,
Jeremy

  • Boot Camp problem: Windows install can't "see" USB keyboard

I just got my new iMac quad-core i5 and love it.
I tried using Boot Camp to install a copy of Windows XP, just see how it would run.
The installation went fine, until under Windows Setup I have to hit ENTER. Keep in mind, I'm using the old USB keyboard from my G5, which accepted commands up to that point; not the wireless keyboard/mouse that came with the iMac.
Nothing happens, and I have to do a hard reboot to get back out.
    Any suggestions? Thanks...

First of all, I have the new 21.5" iMac (also with the wireless keyboard). I did the "Bootcamp" gig with Windows 7 WITHOUT any trouble with the wireless keyboard. Why don't you try it with the standard wireless keyboard?
After about a day of using the wireless keyboard, I plugged in a Logitech keyboard and mouse because I use the extended features (numbers) for data entry. I've asked Santa for a Mac extended keyboard as I'm not that happy about the Logitech although it works fine on the Windows side.
I should add that I used the Magic Mouse as well installing Win 7 in BootCamp. Last night I installed the new Parallels 5.0 on my MB and like it so well that I would like to have it on my iMac as well. However, I've read that there are problems having both BootCamp and Parallels 5 on the same hard drive.

  • Can't Use USB Keyboard on Boot

    Hi,
I have a 865G. The first time I started up after putting the computer together I could not get into the BIOS setup. The USB keyboard doesn't work. I had to use my old PS/2 keyboard to start setup.
I flashed to bios 1.2 and all was well. I just went to bios 1.3 and it won't see my keyboard. I had to set the onboard peripherals USB Legacy to ENABLED in the old versions.
I have a Microsoft Natural Pro keyboard and a USB Intellimouse Explorer. Both work just fine when I am in Windows XP. The BIOS stops after the screens where they show the hardware setup - just like there was no keyboard.
I am going to reflash back to 1.2. Please let me know. ;(
    Thanks,
    SS

When it was new, with bios 1.1 it didn't recognize the keyboard. I had to set that setting with the old keyboard. I flashed to 1.2 and hoped that it was fixed. It's frustrating when the keyboard works sometimes and not others when you are at the CMOS level. Win XP is OK.
Anyway, I did set the choices of USB LEGACY DEVICE to KEYBOARD AND MOUSE. But that didn't work in the newest 1.3 versoion of the bios.
Also, I didn't install a floppy. I burned the information to a CDRW and used a Win 98 install disc to boot with CD support.
    Thanks for trying,
    SS

I have a yamaha motif es6 but i also have logic pro 7
and i'm trying to link my motif es6 or connect it usb
to my mac powerbook g4 laptop...i want to use the

also would like to be able to play or sequence with
my sounds out of the logic pro 7 but play the of my

need you guys help! i'm very new with logic pro
    7....am i alone out here/ did i buy a program that's
to big for my own use??? !!!
You did get a Pro program. Here is what I would do.
Panic. Just kidding, it sounds like your already doing
that. Get a Belkin 7 port POWERED USB hub. This
will let you plug your keyboard into the laptop and
will not drain energy off the system. Price about
40.00 Next download this LSO file here,

This is a Logic song with a Motif ES
multi instrument object already set up.
This will allow you to control your ES6 from
Logic when you want to use it as a sound module.
What I would do with this is to open your autoload
song then open this song. When Logic asks you if
you want to close the first song say no. Then with
both songs open go into the environment/audio layer
of each song. In the song I sent you there is a
multi instrument object called ES. Click on it so
it is highlighted and use the command "command-x"
to cut the object out of that environment and go to
your autoload and using "command-p" paste it into
the audio layer there. You can now close the song I
sent you but when Logic asks if you want to save it
select "dont save". This way if anything goes wrong
with your autoload not taking the multi, it will still
be in the other song. Next go here
    http://storeandserve.com/download/338606/LogicMulti.mov.html
and download this video tutorial on creating a multi
instrument object for an external synth in Logic.
this will show you how to hook up your object in
the environment so it will work. The creating
part has already been done, you just have to
hook it up and create the tracks for the 16
midi channels. I did not do this until I had been
using Logic almost a year. You are finding
out what they meant when they said Logic
    has a STEEP learning curve!
To control Logic with the ES, I believe if it
is like mine you just hit the remote button
and wham it is a controller. You can only use
the board for controlling then, if you need it
it to do other things you will have to hit the
remote button again. Well, I hope this will
help you, remember to install the
Pro App Support Runtime file in the Apple
support section if you havent already.
Set up the ES in the Audio Midi setup
in the Utilities folder and download the
    latest USB midi driver here
    http://www.yamahasynth.com/download/midi_driver.html
I think that is everything. I hope this helps
just post if you need more help.

  • ICS - Live With Walkman - Can't connect USB in MSC (Mass Storage) mode

    Hi Guys n Girls,
I recently updated my LWW to ICS and I can't for the life of me get the phone connect to my PC in MSC, mass storage mode.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you.

This question seems "answered" without an answer actually being there? I see the same problem - connecting the phone to my (Ubuntu/Linux) machine before (running GB) ended up in the phone (SD card) being mounted as external USB storage device just as one would except. With ICS, this doesn't seem to work out of the box anymore, but unfortunately so far I also didn't manage to change this behaviour. Any hints on that?
    TIA and all the best,
    Kristian

  • Can I connect USB hubs instead of printer or external disk?

I plan to get a MacBook Pro and set up a wireless network. I currently have a couple of USB hubs connected to a PC. To these hubs are connected three printers, two external disks, and several other things. I want to be able to get rid of the PC and access these devices from the MacBook wirelessly. Is the AESB the right thing to use for this setup?
The MacBook Pro will have Snow Leopard as OS.

Most likely yes. The 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station's (AEBSn) USB port is capable of supporting a USB hub with multiple USB printers and/or USB hard drives.

  • Can't hear usb keyboard

Hi, i can't hear my m-audio keystation49e keyboard when i press the notes on it.
I have only opened the tutorial song at the moment, as i have only just got logic pro7.2 and am still using the tutorial song to experiment and learn.
I went to audio midi setup and my keyboard is recognised and selected i also clicked apply on it and then clicked test sound and it played so i know its working.
if its any help, i cant find my keyboard in the logic set up assistant when i click add at the midi devices part, so i just selected midi in - my keyboard.
    thanks for any help

Ok, I may be "blind" but I think I've figured out what you have to do. Open the Tutorial file (ok, you probably figured that out already). From the main overhead Window menu, selected Environment. If the environment window shows you a graphic of a keyboard and cabling you can skip the next step, if it shows a mixer do the following. On the left side of the environment window it will say Audio, hold the mouse button down until you have a menu and select MIDI-Instr instead of Audio. Now you should have a graphic representation of a keyboard and some cabling. In the upper left of the map there is an iconic representation marked Physical Input Object. Rubber band select that bad boy and hit delete. If your keyboard now works, save this entire file with a clever name like, Newtorial and continue to follow the manual from there. Don't worry, the only way you can screw things up is if you alter the tutorial file and then save it with it's original title. If this works, please let us know! If not, calling Apple support is not a bad idea at all, they're very pleasant and helpful and based in Texas which is a much bigger place than New York. They've helped me a number of times, even though I'm "blind". Good luck and keep us apprised.

  • Initial Connections -Evolution MK461C USB Keyboard

I have just got Logic Pro 8 and can not figure out how to get my Evolution MK461C USB Keyboard connected to Logic Pro 8. I can see that there is an input being registered on the transport bar but the moment i release the key on the keyboard the statement reads "No In" Can somebody please help me with this as I am very new to Logic and would love some assistance so I can get my USB keyboard in there and start playing around with some ideas. I understand how to initially connect it but I can not get a sound out of it and also it is not being registered in the input levels. The annoying thing is that when I use Main Stage it registers it and I can play.......Can someone please help? Thanks Alex

It's working perfectly, it is supposed to show notes when you play, and say 'no in' when you aren't playing anything. But you won't hear anything unless you actually create an instrument track and put an audio instrument on it. It's all in the getting started manual. Create an audio instrument track and then read up on how to assign instruments to it.

  • Can't connect blue tooth keyboard

Hey all...I've had my new iMac now for quite awhile with 0 problems. I have the blue tooth keyboard and mouse....recently, I can't connect the keyboard. I bought new batteries and still a no go...I press the power button on the keyboard and the green light comes on once for about 10 seconds before shutting off...in this brief period of time the computer recognizes the blue tooth keyboard, but I can't keep the keyboard on long enough for it to connect. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
So the keyboard powers down after just a short few seconds? Then I would call Apple and arrange for them to swap it out. There is not a lot users can do to fix a faulty keyboard or mouse.
