Can't Connect with WRT54G v 8.0 on Windows 7

Hello -
Very frustrated user here, having multiple problems with this router. The SSID/name comes up in the list of available networks, all the settings are correct, and still it doesn't connect. Windows 7 troubleshooter is unable to identify the problem.
This also happened on my other XP laptop when I first connected it. I vaguely remember trying multiple things to no avail, but I think I was able to get it to connect after plugging it via ethernet into the router and running the setup program. However I do not still have the CD and the software is not available for download on the site anymore.
Also, I don't know if this helps, but my XP laptop, which still connects fine, will lose a connection when I leave it alone for too long. I will log back in from standby or hibernate and will have to reboot for it to reconnect - release/renew for example doesn't work, nor does anything else I try.
Are there known issues with this router? Or am I missing something? Help!

I would suggest you to upgrade/re-flash the firmware on your linksys router.
Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in search tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop
Firmware Upgrade/Reflash
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful" After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Then observe the connection and also you can try to connect to the wireless network on Win 7.

I recently changed my login settings for my ISP. I updated the settings in my router but it will not connect. The computer is hard wired to router. The router was working fine prior to changing the settings. I can connect to ISP through my modem. When I click connection tab on status page, my error says "Can't get an ip from PPPoE Server. I performed power cycling recommended by Linksys but still cant connect.

Step 1:
Shut down the computer.
Step 2:
Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3:
Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4:
Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5:
Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6:
Power on the computer and test the Internet connection.

No. It is not really making sense. Why do you want to have a routed LAN? Why do you want a router inside your LAN? A router is a separating network element. It separates distinct subnets. For most home networks this is not what people want. Windows home networking depends to some extent on an connected ethernet network, i.e. a single broadcast domain. A router creates two separate ethernet networks between which you can router traffic. Most consumer routers won't allow you to configure them in a way so that broadcasts will actually cross the router.
If you have a router inside your LAN you will not be able to do Windows file and printer sharing across the router as you are used to do it in a single subnet. You cannot do workgroup browsing and name resolution across the router without a domain controller/server providing this service for you.
Also, using software which requires you do "open ports" or configure "port forwardings" are harder to configure because you may have to configure this on two routers.
Moreover, as you are having two wireless routers: wireless roaming between two separate IP subnets is not possible without reconnection. The client which leaves one access points and moves to the next one must get a new IP address as it belongs now to a different subnet.
You will only want to operate a real router inside your network if you either have a very big one and with a nice server inside or if there are specific reasons to separate the networks, e.g. when you want to run a server in the internet and at the same time prevent this server to access any other computer as you worry that the server may get hacked and used to access your LAN. Then you can setup a gateway router and connect the internet server to this router. The second router creates a second private LAN inside the first one's. This second LAN is where you connect all your other computers.
But generally, most home users don't want to run two routers in a home network. They want easy file and printer sharing. They may want to be able to extend the wireless coverage and create a roaming network.
I hope, it makes sense now why I asked my original question and you can now think more about what you actually want to do with the second router...

there are 2 recent posts that suggest issues over 5, one where someone was trying to troubleshoot for a friend or client as they couldn't keep more than 5 connected, and the other where somone had more than 5 but was using 2 separate itunes libraries to share the load - not sure if that was with the same or differing AppleIDs.
I guess there is always the possibility that things kight vary from one itunes version to the next even unintentionally to allow more.

And she is from Turkey. I talked to people from US, South Africa and other remote countries but I can't establish connection with Turkey! And i'm from Poland. Does Turkey block connection from Poland? She has the same problem. She can't connect only with me - she talks to people from all over the world expect me. Can you help me?

I want to create a system(Solman 4.0) in Portal.I have created a SAP system using dedicated application server and then I filled all necessary fields.I tested with using system connection test.There are two test nameS(SAP Web AS Connection and Connection test for Connectors)Firstly, I checked WAS Connection and everything was ok but when I tested "Connection Test for Connectors" it didn't work.When I clicked test button, it said "Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct" but I didn't use UIDPW.I used the Logon Ticket method and system_type is SAP_CRM but when I checked log file, it said this message "(R3/BW) Failed to get connection. Please contact your admin".I didin't understand because I have already used SAP_CRM syte sytem type.Why do I get this message. In addition, The ume.usermapping.unsecure is already on TRUE.In short, I can't connect with using connector.What's the problem?

There is a connection string error but I didn't use by using connection string method.I have used by using dedicated application server. At the same time, I have another error message in the dev_jrfc.trc.This error message is as fallows

I can TNSPing ok...I just can't connect with toad or sqlplus anymore from another computer..
I can connect with sqlplus on the same computer...just not from any other computers.

When I try to create a controller using the Entity Framework with my model, I get an error message saying:
The ForeignKeyAttribute on property 'Id' on type ... is not valid. The navigation property 'aspnetusers' was not found on the dependent type ... The Name value should be a valid navigation property name.
If someone could help me solve the problem, I would be glad.

I know this is an Apple forum, but is there anywhere that we can get info about AOL's servers (i.e., which regions are having trouble, etc)? I'm in France, and AOL seems to shut down at about 6:00pm every day. This is very frustrating, since the people i'm trying to talk to are in the US.
Edit: the firewall port solution doesn't work, either. It's AOL.
