Can't control camera from iMovie.

With camera in play mode, iMovie camera controls are grayed out and button in frame says "Control With Camera." If I play tape from camera, it shows up in iMovie frame, but is not recordable. This is a new problem--it had been working fine. Thanks.

I can control the playback via iMovie & video plays on camera, but iMovie window just displays "camera connected". No video.
Ideas?

How can I transfer video from iMovie 2.0 on iOS7 to my PC without using the share tool?

I'm trying to get a large video (~7.5GB) from iMovie to transfer to my PC for editing. Being that I am using a 16GB iPhone 5s, this seems to be impossible with the share tool (the square with an up arrow coming out of it) because iMovie wants to duplicate the video to either the camera roll or some other medium which won't fit on my device. Is there any way (hack or otherwise) that I can get my video safely to the computer?

The Mac IIci is not even powering on at all. Tried again with wih a tested power cable and no luck.
I think it's best that take this issue to the Older Hardware Community. Not only did I see a fair number of replacement parts for the IIci avaiable online, but there also vintage external floppy drives as well. I'm not giving up.

Can't start camera from unlock screen in iphone 5c since ios8

Hi!
Some I can't start the camera from the unlock screen in iphone 5c since ios8 update.
It works a couple of hours after reboot, but the problem keeps turning back randomly.
After iOS8 update I also installed facebook, facebook messenger, linkedin and sync.me and configured skype.
The actions are:
Enabling the unlock screen and then sliding up the camera icon, it seems to appear a camera captured image but then the screen turns black or greyish (randomly) like the unlock screen background.
The problem doesn't happen from the control center panel locked or unlocked.
It isn't a big problem because there are simple workarounds, but it's annoying when it happens.

where is this done? seems simple but i can't find it....

Sorry - missed Tom's post before posting this, but here goes anyway
To delete an Event, right-click (or Control-click) on the name of the Event in the Events Library. From the pop-up menu select "Move Event to Trash". Otherwise, click on the Event and from the menu select File>Move Event to Trash. But, be aware that doing this will cause any associated Projects to lose their links to the Event clips. Projects don't contain video, but simply reference the clips in the Events (as well as containing information about transitions, titles, music and so forth).
To delete the Event permanently from your hard disk and free up space, click the Desktop outside of the iMovie window to see the Finder menus at the top of your computer screen, and then choose Finder > Empty Trash.
To delete a Project, the procedure is the same. In Project Library view (where you see all your Projects listed), right-click on the Project name and select "Move Project to Trash" - or File>Move Project to Trash. In Finder empty the Trash after doing this.
If you are looking to delete part of an Event, either whole clips or portions of clips, you have to mark them as rejected first. If you need information on the full procedure, please come back. Otherwise, check out iMovie Help and search on the topic "Delete unwanted video clips from an Event".
NOTE: All this can be found in iMovie Help (accessible from iMovie's menu).

WVC54GC: Can't find camera from Viewer/Recorder or Setup Utility

The camera is connected to my wireless router and I can access the camera though the web - can view video and use setup on the web utility - but I can't find it from the Viewer-Recorder utility or the Linksys Setup utility. I tried setting the camera IP address to 192.168.1.115, as recommended in previous posts, and verified on my router that it's picking up that IP address. But when I run Linksys setup from a PC connected to the router, it searches for a camera but doesn't find it. When I try "add camera" from the Viewer/Recorder, it can't find it either. From that same computer I can ping the camera at 192.168.1.115, so I know it's there. What gives??

What is the operating system on your computer?
If you are able to ping the camera IP address from your computer then your computer is communicating with the camera. I think it must be the issue with the setup utility.
Try to uninstall and reinstall the utility and see if that works.
You can also download the utility from Linksys website.

Device online, but cannot control camera from Capture screen

I have a the camcorder listed below connected to my computer through a firewire card (also listed below), and I'm trying to capture video from tape with Premiere Pro CS4. The camera is online, and if I use the controls on the camera player to play the tape, the video shows in the capture preview, but I cannot control the camera from the capture screen.
Device Control is set to DV/HDV, and set device to Samsung.
Any idea what's going on here?

Yes, the record button is live, just the controls to control the tape deck in the camera are greyed out.
I have since borrowed a Sony DCR-HC42 to capture from, and the controls are working for it. However, it will not capture by setting In Points and Out Points, I just have to position the tape as best as possible, record and select when to stop the recording stop from the Preview. It's not ideal, but it's getting the job done.
This sort of problem seems to be par for the course when using Premiere on a pc. Users just have to plan on a few days to resolve compatability issues that should not have existed.
so for the moment, no critical issues, but once this project is done I will need to revisit the problem.

I just added Appletv and connected my Computer and TV. I now see my TV but how do you control your computer from your tv or maybe you don't the remote does not do anything pertaining to the computer i see on the TV

You control the computer the same as you would normally. The image is simply being mirrored to the Apple TV, you cannot control it from there using airplay.
If that is what you are looking for then you need to search for a VNC client.

Idvd can't get chapters from imovie

didnt work for me & it didnt even find the movie in the movie file in the media pane...AND when I tried dropping scenes from the imovie clips into the load zones, that worked, but only had 3 scenes and it still kept 6 load zones and all of them were blank when I tried to preview it...idvd help file said all I had to do was drop the imovie into the tree...sorry but that was incorrect...

Why can't I upload from iMovie directly to YouTube?

For some reason, I have been unable to gain access to this forum for the past two days. I am trying to upload a video from My Samsung U20 HD camcorder, and can't do it. iMovie recognizes the camera, and downloads it, but when I go to upload to YouTube, the entire area is grayed out. What software do I need so i can burn a DVD from iMovies?

I simply want to burn a DVD from my iMovies and send to another party to be able to play on their computer or DVD.

Apple don't want you to do that.
The current Apple thinking is that the entire world has access to fast broadband and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that in reality not all users do, has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. That worked for some, but is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple. Also, you can complain bitterly here, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between using iCloud and burning DVDs:

Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or will come with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD. Also, of course, there is Roxio Toast.

How can I capture photos from iMovie 11?

I want to capture a photo from a video clip. The instructions I've found online do not seem to work with iMovie 11. Does anyone have a suggestion?

First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
Here is a video I made that steps through this...

You can't directly. You could make part of the video like the open in FCE and export it and then import it into FCE, but the themes don't apply to FCE.
