Can't convert albums to aac

Have purchased Sonos speakers. Some albums have failed to transfer from i-tunes. Appears to be because unsupported format. These albums were purchased from i-tunes but need to be converted to AAC. I-tunes will not allow conversion to AAC. How can I overcome this issue.

Were they purchased a while ago, like before mid-2009?  If so, you probably have DRM-infected files, which cannot be converted.
Burn them to an Audio CD and then rip them back as MP3s.

  • Can't convert mp3s to AAC anymore?

I just updated my iTunes to the latest version. Now for some reason I can no longer convert my mp3s to Apple Lossless AAC. Is it just me?

Where are you looking for the command to convert? Highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create Apple Lossless version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
By the way, why are you creating Lossless versions of MP3s? You do realise that MP3 is a lossy format and information is discarded when the MP3 is created, changing that to a lossless format doesn't add any information back into the file, you just end up with a larger file of the same quality.

  • Can't Convert Wav to AAC

I have been adding my lecture files (Olympus Digital Wave player) to my iTunes for several semsters now. I realized that I needed to convert the wav files to AAC files in order for my iPod to play them. For some reason, I have not been able to convert the files this semester and I don't know why or what has changed. Everytime I try to convert one of them, iTunes says: "Error occurred while converting the file "PHSC 10-28-08". The disk could not be read from or written to." The files are on the hard drive. iTunes is looking at the files in its own directory since I've already added them to the library. The hard drive has plenty of space.
Anyone have any suggestions? I have checked and double checked to make sure the folders and individual files are not marked as read only. I'm becoming really irritated. I'm halfway through the semester and have finally run out of patience and I am begging for help!

I hadn't tried playing them as wavs in iTunes until you asked. It turns out they won't even play as wavs. It acts as though each file is a second or so and thinks it's played it and then moves onto the next one.
These aren't music files. They are lectures from my classes. I have removed them from iTunes, telling it to send them to the recycle bin, and then reimported them several times. Burning them to CD and then bringing them into iTunes that way would require doing it twice a week.
I was able to play them through RealPlayer so there is nothing wrong with the original wav file, just something wrong when iTunes brings it over to the iTunes area.

  • Can I convert m4a (AAC) files back to mp3?

I have like 60 something songs that I want to fit all on one cd and that would definately not happen in AAC so I want to convert each song into mp3.

Depending on what bitrate you have set the AAC is about the same size as an MP3.
Do you perhaps have AAC confused with Apple Lossless, which is much larger?
But anyway, yes you can convert it. Go to iTunes preferences>Advanced (iT6)>importing and set the "import using" to MP3. Click OK
Now go back and select the song(s) and from the menu bar go advanced>convert to MP3.
The song will be duplicated, one AAC version and one MP3 version. Delete the one you don't want, or keep both to compare the size difference.
If your talking about purchased songs, you can't convert them to MP3. You have to burn an audio CD first and then rip it as MP3.
Just remember that converting a lossy format to another lossy format will reduce the quality. If it is AAC it probably isn't worth converting to MP3 if your only reason for doing so is to save space, because there is not much difference in the two.

  • How can I convert Itunes video albums tracks to ipod tracks

How can I convert Itunes video albums tracks to ipod tracks?

3pg is an odd format... That or I just never seen it before. :P
iTunes just ***** at converting videos. So far all videos I tried converting with iTunes have resulted in the same error you got.
You're better-off using 3rd party apps, and then copying to iTunes, and then copying to the iPod.
Unfortunately I don't know of any conversion programs for Windows.
If you by chance have a mac, this program works great: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/flv2itunes.html
The mac version of Handbrake below works great, hopefully the Windows version does, too:
    http://handbrake.fr/?article=download
When converting with handbrake, make sure to use the iPod preset for the out-put video.
    Hope this helps a little.

  • Can I convert pse3 catalog to pse7 on windows 7 and retain all my albums and vcds that I made?

Can I convert pse3 catalog to pse7 on windows7 and retain all my albums and vcds? and how do I do it?

I have no experience with PSE3, only from PSE4 on.
Have a look at that note:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/backup-restore-move-catalog-photoshop.html
    And:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/common-catalog-issues-upgrade-elements.html
I suppose there is a way to 'write metadata to files' in PSE3. This writes all your tags, captions and ratings from your catalog to the metadata header of each of your media files. Those are recognized and recovered if you 'get photos and videos...' from files or folders in ulterior versions of Elements.

  • HT1399 my itunes library is stored as .aac files how can i convert them all together to mp3

my itunes library is stored as .aac files how can i convert them all together to mp3

Thanks for the quick response. I didn't think of that. I just tried several songs, and it DOES work as you say. Except iTunes downloaded the identical 128 kbps protected files again. These are 90's - "10,000 Maniacs" tracks.
So does this mean Apple doesn't have my "10,000 Maniacs" high bit rate unprotected files available? Then why would anyone even buy any songs through the "iTunes" store, when Amazon sells only 256 kbps MPEG music files, at a little cheaper price than Apple?
I'm missing something. The tracks I want to upgrade are available at Amazon in the higher bit rate format. Maybe iTunes is annoyed at me for using "Windows" on a PC and an "Android" phone?
    Thanks again.
