Can't convert .DV to any format in Quicktime

Hi!
I've recently created a movie project in iMovie and exported it to Quicktime, for it to keep it's full resolution. The problem is... the file measures about 1.09 Gb, for a 5:49 movie. I want to convert it to .avi to reduce it's size, maintain quality and play on YouTube, etc,; I've tried different specs but it always freezes! I've tried also converting it to different formats like Divx or .mp4 but with no luck at all. Any tips on how to fix this?

First don't export to AVI there are enough horrible AVI's out there from Windows users to last until the 22nd century.
You don't need to export it at all just open the reference file in QT and export how you like. You have said nothinga about how it doesn't work, error messages or anything at all to help so try doing that.
DV is 13GB an hour so the size is simply a normal DV size for the duration you have there, and not a problem, and you may be happier opening it in MPEG Streamclip (free), and export to MPEG-4 with one of the iTunes presets.

If you really do mean ANY format, then you know of course that if you open a PDF file in Preview you can select 'Save As...' and in the Save window that comes up, from the 'Format' pop-up button you can select:

Unfortunately they are all image formats, which is useless if you want to extract the text as text. You can use Previews Text tool to drag across text and then copy and paste it into TextEdit or Pages - this though leaves the images behind.
Also, depending on your needs, since Snow Leopard, the inbuilt pdf filtering is suppose to be smarter than previous, in that if the pdf document is multi-column, then dragging across multiple columns of text will automatically determine the columns and when you paste it it will all come out intact. Unfortunately it isn't as smart as it thinks and my experience is that it is easily confused and will sometimes think there are columns that don't really exist.
Lastly, and probably what you are looking for, PDF2RTFService 1.1 by Devon Technologies is worth a look:

Depending on your needs it may or may not work for you. I find that for simple documents it does OK. For complex documents it's barely helpful. And since Snow Leopard, it sees columns that don't really exist - although that's Apple's fault, not Devon Technologies.

Can I convert a RealPlayer media file to quicktime ?

I just got a new iMac and I'm goofing with .Mac/iDisk . I have a RealPlayer movie that I would like to move to the new computer so I put it into iDisk . On the old eMac on the iDisk it shows as a Real Player Media File but in the new computers iDisk it's a exec file ?. I tried to open it with QT so now it calls itself a QT player document but it won't open .
Can I convert a RealPlayer media file to quicktime ?

You said you wanted to convert it, which led me to believe that you wanted to use the video, not just play it. If all you want is to play the file, then Real Player is all you need. The free version has no ads.

I did delete QT, and every related file that I could find as far as I know, then reinstalled QT 716
Here's what's going on. I've got a movie that's done, and I'm trying to export using QT conversion. When I export to .mov, FCE gives me a "codec error" msg.
When I export to any other format, it writes the file, but it's about 4KB and either brings an error msg in QT, or opens but there is nothing to play.
When I export by just clicking File>Export>Quicktime Movie....
It does the same.

I have a large number of tracks which I should like to convert from one format to another (aiff to Apple lossless). These tracks are distributed in a large number of playlists. Can I convert a track or tracks from one format to another so that the converted track appears in the playlist of the original track without going through a laborious and error-prone process of converting each track individually, determining the playlist of the original, and allocating the converted version to the playlist (or playlists, because in many cases the original track exists in more than one playlist) of the original track.

I do not believe iTunes will do this. The files created are essentially new media files, not regarded as replacements for old files. There may be ways to trick iTunes if you are good at editing library files but that would be more trouble than it is worth.

How can I convert IDoc in XML format w/DTD into a string?

I want to send by e-mail outbound IDoc in XML format with its document type definition (DTD).
I want to be able to get the same output result into a string than the XML file IDoc port type with DTD activated. I have created a FM (based on SAP "OWN_FUNCTION") assigned to an IDoc port of type ABAP-PI that executes the following processing steps:
1-Extract outbound IDoc information to get the sender & recipient mail addresses (EDP13 / EDIPHONE tables).
2-Convert & Transform IDoc data into XML string using FM IDX_IDOC_TO_XML.
3-Prepare and send e-mail with XML attachement using FM SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1.
I cand generate the e-mail with the XML file attachement but FM IDX_IDOC_TO_XML does not convert the IDoc with proper formating and DTD.
What should I use to accomplish the IDoc conversion to XML w/DTD into a string?
Should I use XSLT tools ?
How does that work?

Cannot convert PDF to any format in your drop down

Evertime I try to concert a PDF I get a "conversion Failure" PDF containing XFA forms cannot be saved to that specific format. What do i need to do? When I send the PDF noone can open it thats why I want to convert to something else.

Why can't i save in any format at scratch size just 1 GB higher than that available?

I am trying to save a file just about 2GB large, so I tried to save it both psd and psb. I tried to save it pdf as well, but nothing works. My local disk has 54GB space and photoshop has an available ram of 5.84Gb, as I have 7gb available ram.
Yesterday it managed to work and save files at scratch size more than double the ram available and larger file size. I do not know why now I have the problem!

I'd like to add that just when i open it, it manages to save the file although very slow, but after any changes I do, it fails to save.

Can't load dates in any format

Hello everybody I have the following problem:
After i have upgrade from Standard Edition1 to Enterprise Edition for trying to solve the localization problem in the Presentation (i needed Greek) all the mappings that inserts dates to my cubes from external tables (CSV) or the flows that i put a date as an input don't work as the system complains for incorrect format error: "CursorFetchMapTerminationRTV20007 ORA-01843: not a valid month". I have tried all the possible combinations of a date format but still nothing. The Server lam running the OWB has nls_language= Greek at session parameters while at database parameters is nls_language = American. I have tried also to alter the session during the transformation (Alter Session set nls_language = Greek, set Nls_teritiory= Greece) and it diddn't work either.

This was very helpfull! The process flows and the mapping seems to run ok again! Only one thing left now. I use sql script to run the mappings which looks like that:

The bold parameter is the input parameter of the mapping. I use PAY_DAY as varchar2 and then I use to_date() again.
It seems that this isn't the proper way to input a string cause it returns error. I used PAY_DAY='01/01/2008' or PAY_DAY="01/01/2008" or PAY_DAY=/'01/01/2008/' with no results.
Do you know something about that, or just a way to import a string?

I'm having problems in converting mpeg video with quicktime pro. Tha fact is that after a very long process (more than 1 hour) quicktime crates from the original mpeg file an ipod format .m4v file with no sound at all, just images...

Converting Movie to Ipod format thru Quicktime Pro

I purchase the QuicktimePro Registration key for Windows(XP), to convert movies(mp4) format to Ipod(30gb).
QuicktimePro DOES NOT convert mpeg-4 to Ipod format, m4v or mov? I know Quicktime pro is only a few dollars, but I spent for something that I did not enjoy. A very useless feature.

Sorry too, that I did not explain in full detail. Yes, I followed the xact instruction in the manual, followed one of the QT-Tech Support, he even gave me a supporting/reading materials related to my inquiry, I have 2 co-workers behind my shoulders who tried to help but no luck.
My OS is XP, Quicktime plays all my movies(mp4)format without a problem, but when it comes to exporting, (Movie to iPod 320X240)the exported movie is successful but still in mp4 format, instead of m4v I believe.

Can't convert my itunes to mp3 format for my LYRA MP3 player

I purchashed a mp3 player for my son. We have approximately 177 itunes I have purchased in my library. I can not convert them to mp3 format so I can download on player. Dialog box reads "files are protected and format can not be changed". Please help. I have paid for these tunes and would hate to do so again.

I'm not sure I completely follow what it is you are trying to do, but it strikes me you're making it more complicated than need be.
iTunes imports files in the format set in your preferences. If you want to import as other than mp3 then set the other format in your preferences.
iTunes is also set by default to put a copy of tracks you add into your iTunes folder. You can unset this in preferences (I have this unset) but most people don't because it kind of messes up file management. You can also temporarily disable it for files you are dragging to iTunes by holding the option key. If you use iTunes for converting it will add them to iTunes - that's the way it behaves. I often use non-iTunes applications such as Max or XLD for doing my conversions (you also get to use the LAME codec for mp3 which some consider better than iTunes).
You can add a column to your lists display which is format, or just go by the file size or bit rate display columns. While not definitive, I can usually depend upon files saying 128k bitrate or 3 MB in size to be mp3 (I have almost no AAC tracks) vs. AIFFwhich would have much higher bitrate and much bigger files.
If you have mp3 files and want to put them on a flash drive, highlight the items you want to add (it could be a whole playlist) and drag this from the iTunes window to the flash drive in a Finder window.
