Can't copy attributes if Pan mode has changed?

I changed the pan mode to dialgue in a audio clip but now I can't copy the seting (filter/EQ/effects etc) to another clip? Nothing happens, unless I remove the Pan mode to "None." Anyone knows how to fix this?

Can't copy files in Target Mode

I'm trying to move applications from my Titanium PowerBook G4 (OS X 10.4.7) to my MacBook by booting the G4 in Target Disk Mode. I can get the icon representing the G4's HDD to appear on the MacBook's desktop, but sometimes when I double-click to open it, I get the beach ball and no window opens for the HDD. Most of the time the window opens, but then I get the beach ball when I try to open the Applications folder. So back on the G4 I tried moving the application's (Photoshop Elements) folder icon out of the Applications folder and into the HDD window. Now in Target Mode, when I drag the Photoshop folder icon out of the G4's window and onto the MacBook desktop, the copying process seems to initiate normally, but then stops. It always stops at the same number of MB copied, and then I get the interminable beach ball.
What's happening and how do I fix it?

Hard to say. Boot the PB with its Tiger install disk and run Disk Utility, repairing the disk and its permissions. Boot the PB with its Apple Hardware Test disk and run the extended tests. If the PB passes all of those, then repeat the same steps with the MB. Once both pass the tests, retry the TDM hookup, and copying stuff.

Can I Copy a preference pane from one mac to another?

Hi everyone. I regualrly work on a lot of different computers and to save time I've been keeping a usb with a few plists with me that i can drag and drop into the library to save time. I was wondering whether there were any issues with doing this with preference panes (that would have been installed by 3rd party apps, specifically wacom)? This particular pane is usually stored /library/preferance panes.

Yes, and no. Yes, if the plist(s) don't contain any pathname info. Obviously, no, if they do, unless of course the other system has the exact same directory structure and filenames.
I should add a little caveat about preference panes. User prefpanes may store plists in ~/Library/ByHost. And the plist filenames in there usually have a long code and letter sequence which I think is machine specific. So they probably would be problematic moving to another machine.

Clamshell Mode Has Changed?

Okay, So I am enjoying Lion very much, it's a pretty sweet upgrade. However, I've run into a big problem and it's a feature I loved in Snow Leopard and it works under Windows 7 (BootCamp) as well, In Windows 7 I can just easily choose what Display I want to use, why Mac OS X doesn't have this feature is beyond me.
So I'd go through putting my Macbook Pro into Clamshell mode, and wake it with the Apple Keyboard, but after I've turned the Macbook back on, I'd open the lid to help keep my MacBook Pro running cooler, this was when I was on Snow Leopard...Now in Lion, everytime I open the lid the built-in display turns back on!
MacBook Pro 15" it's the model with the Thunderbolt Port, and the external monitor is using HDMI.
Anyone know of a solution to turn off the Built-In Display like Snow Leopard did?

I also have the same problem. There were big operating temperature improvements to be gained by running the MacBook Pro in clamshell mode with the lid open (but the in-built screen still turned off) as opposed to closed whilst using a 27" LED external display under Snow Leopard. Other uses have reported performance improvements, too.

I have just upgraded to Lion and am appalled to discover that I can't now open the lid of the MBP without the display springing to life. I neither want nor need two displays live at once!
Apple: PLEASE provide a fix so that the display setup behaves like it used to under Snow Leopard. It's summer time and I have no aircon, so this is pretty urgent from my point of view!

As I'm typing, keyboard output suddenly becomes corrupted and(because?) Japanese IME mode has changed. Firefox involved, or not?

My I phone quit syncing with outlook..says can't install device, so some setting has changed on my computer, know what?

iPad, iPod not syncing on Mavericks…. I-Tunes freezing on connection of same to the usb port! The following fixed these issues on my MacBook Pro running 10.9.3. I do have Xcode on my laptop, but have never used it…. I’m not a programmer or hacker, just a cheesed of Apple fan. I tried many of the already suggested possible fixes and nothing helped. Got fed up using the disk repair utility and getting no further on.
I opened System Preferences, Security & Privacy/Privacy. In Accessibility, after having scanned all my files many times, I added the following apps, some of them may be developer tools from Xcode, and gave them all control….. then did a computer restart.

How can I tell if any table data has changed?

I'm in the process of reverse engineering an application. We don't have the source code, so I've been looking to the Oracle 8 database to give me some clues as to what insert, update, delete operations are being performed.
Is there any SQL I could run which would indicate the table data has been changed in some way.

What's the application architecture? Is this a client/server application? Or a three-tier application? Is there a lot of PL/SQL? Or is all the SQL getting generated in the application and sent to the database? Depending on the architecture, a SQL*Net trace on the client may be appropriate-- that will log the SQL the client app is sending to the server. If you have a three-tier app, though, it may be hard to relate the SQL to a particular operation or to relate the SQL statements to each other. If you have a lot of stored procedures, you'd only see the procedure call, not the SQL the procedure executes.
You could trace a particular database session, which has similar issues in a three-tier environment or if MTS (the precursor to shared server) is in use, but does capture SQL issued by stored procedures. That may put a degree of load on the database server as well.
You could also query the data dictionary (i.e. V$SQL) periodically to see the SQL statements in the shared pool. You have to ensure that you're polling frequently enough to catch SQL statements before they age out of the shared pool and you won't generally be able to relate one statement to another or to a particular application function. But you could see all the SQL the database is executing.

You can't copy "iTunes" because it has the same name as another item

I did not have enough space on my old MacBook to hold my iTunes library, so purchased a passport HD to hold my music. I now have an imac and am trying to copy my itunes library from the drive onto my iMac. But when i try to copy i get this message:
"You can’t copy “Tyler iTunes” because it has the same name as another item on the destination volume, and that volume doesn’t distinguish between upper- and lowercase letters in filenames."
I tried deleting all files on the computer with the word iTunes, but it keeps happening. I saw on some other threads something about the drives' formatting, so just for reference my passport is formatted "Case-sensitive, journaled" and my iMac is "journaled"
I'm pretty good with computers and this just has me stumped. Its doing this on my fathers macbook pro purchased at the same time, so two new computers with the same problem, two different hard drives for each library. Same message. I'm baffled.

There is no folder named "iTunes library".

Search for "Tyler iTunes", the same as the folder you are trying to copy.

Hi,
We have had the same problem in a non-express application
with a heavy server partition. In our case, the error was not
systematic, depending on the server workload at the time we
tried to partition and run.
The work-around we're using is to put the -fm flags (increasing the x
parameter to say 30000) in the 'server arguments' of your server
partition
properties in the partition workshop. Note that if your server is a Unix
platform,
you need to put double-quotes before and after the parenthesis in the -fm
syntax.

Decisive answer 2 difference between Pref Stereo Panning Mode and Advanced Session Properties Mixing

Since Steve refused to give a clear answer on this issue, I will attempt to address it.
I think the Preferences>Stereo Panning Mode only has to do with the panning of individual stereo tracks and there overall volume level.
Where as the Advanced Session Properties>Mixing>panning mode Has to do Only with the Master Channel's panning and overall volume level.

What I mean is that Under Preferences>stereo panning mode it only affects the volume of tracks when they are panned, it has no effect on the overall volume.
Under Advanced session properties>mixing>panning it subtracts 3dB when set to -3dB center, if everything is panned center.
I don't understand exactly what what the latter does when set to L/R logarithmic other then it makes the session not play at -3dB but rather at the file(s) real level, if everything is panned center.
apparently, when using L/R logarithmic for either one: if everything is panned in different directions and you have some mono tracks, all bets are off .

You can't. You can take a screen cap of it, but the container doesn't allow access to the individual images used in a SWF or FLV.
