Can't crawl publishing portal content

I've got a single service account running my search service app and i can crawl my single site collection / web app which is https://intranet.domain.co.uk and i can run a full crawl but it only picks up the default content and pages in the crawl log.
I've got several word and excel files in the default document library but i can't find those or any other results when i perform a search.
The content source is set to crawl 'sharepoint sites' and doesn't produce any errors after a crawl and reports back 45 or so success items which are the aspx pages i mentioned above. I have also created a crawl rule with the URL to no effect.
Any idea why? The search service account has full read to the web app via user policy in CA and I've given it read access to the content db in SQL.

Check the URL for one of the items in the crawl logs, check that it's present.
Confirm that the document is published
Check the Super User and Super Reader accounts

Internet exlorer 7.0 can not display crm portal content

we are using crm5.0+ep7.0, we have loaded the portal content (business packages) for crm and crm high tech. the patch level is: 13 level 0 (BBPCRM is 6).

This version (IE 7.0) "should be" supported as of SPS19 (NW '04) or SPS10(NW 2004s) and there exist several errors found in the operation on previous releases.
be supported or the SPS be released (this is mentioned on the note), please note that once the system has performed the update there is not possible to go back to IE 6.0

BI Analytics Visual Composer Result, Where I can find it in Portal Content?

I've done an html analytics in Visual Composer. Now I want to use it in an iview, but I don't know where is this VC in the Portal Content. I'm using CE 7.2. Someone can help me? Or I have to use it as an URL iview.

Can't delete from portal content areas

Some users are suddenly unable to delete from content areas. The
following error occurs:
An unexpected error has occurred (WWS-32100)
An unexpected error has occurred (WWS-32100)
ORA-1;User-defined exception (WWC-36000)
normal, successful completion (WWS-00000)
This has worked fine in the past. One user is also complaining
that she is intermittently getting a 'The page you requested was
not found' error when trying to add files.
Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

"Recent" (at least on Windows) is not an actual folder; it's just a list of recently used files/documents. I clean such things using CCleaner.

Unable to see the portal content directory in content administration role

I am unable to see the portal content directory in the content administration. I am not the super administrator, i have been assigned other roles. But, I am unable to see the PCD. Please help me how this can be sorted out.

Hi Sunita,
Contact your systen admin people , he/she will assign the Read/Write or Full controls to content_admin_role in the system administration -> Permissions -> select portal content folder and right click the select open Permissions , There he/she has to add content_admin_role in Assigned Permissions category and under Administrator category select Full Control and select End user check box and save the changes.
Then you can see the Portal Content and you can create /change the portal contents.

Portal content ERROR

Hi,
I have new installed EP 7.0 in AIX with Oracle database.
I have two issues here.
1) one i am not able to open portal with Hostname(Fully qualified name) with port .(But it is opening with IP ADDRESS)
2) When i logon in to portal .
Portal content is not displaying in browser with I.E 6.0.
It is showing error "undefined is null or Not an object"
So, Plz, help me to resolve these issues .

for problem 1:
make sure that you made a host file entry of your server in your system's Hosts.txt file...
path is : goto start-->run --> drivers ---> etc --> hosts.
and for second one,
with ip address you can not see the portal content. ones you made a host file entry, then access your portal through the fully qualified name then you can see the portal content.

There are options which you can avail for creating portal contents.
1). SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
Based on open source Eclipse IDE & looks very essential for extensive Java projects and supports standard technologies as well from the SAP technologies & the Infrastructure as well.
Can work well in both Java & ABAP platforms as it supports different perspective for both of them.
2). SAP Enterprise Portal Developer Kit (PDK).
It is a collection of information, samples & tools for use by developers.
Sample Applications include Portal Data Viewer, OBN, WebDynPro, HTMLB, EPCF & few more.
3). SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer.
It is a powerful tool for creating the Portal contents using a visual interface rather than stressing more on writing code.

Federated portal's, cann't see the roles and portal content from producer

We are configuring a Federated Portal, with a Producer EP7.0 SP13 and a Consumer EP7.0 SP13. The connection test is successful.
I can see the producer on the consumer and the consumer on the producer.
The problem is that I can not see the portal content of the producer in the portal content of the consumer. The producer roles are also not available on the consumer. I have selected the producer as the data source in the consumer UME,
then enter * in the role name field, then select "go", but nothing comes up.
Can anybody help me?

Following might be the reason:
1. User should exist in both user store of Consumer and Producer portal otherwise it wont work.
2. Incase if the registration is successful then there might be some problem with your servers (Consumer & Producer) clock timings.
3. Remote Role Assignment may get fail perhaps because user to whom remote role assignment is done doesnt have End User role assigned to him/her at Producer Portal. End-user permission enables business users to run content at runtime. Just as end users require end-user permission to run local content on your portal, they also need end-user permission for local content originating from a remote producer.
4. You should have Owner permission in the objects to which you want to assign permissions otherwise Remote Role Assignment wont work.
5. In the portal content studio, open the producer under 'NetWeaver content producers'. If it does not contain folders in it, the registration is considered to be unsuccessful even though it stated it was successful while registration.
6. During the process of Registering (Adding) Producer Portal, while entering the connection parameters of the NetWeaver producer portal use appropriate Host name against Host Name input field instead of IP address. Perhaps this might create some problem during execution in later stage.
e.g. Host Name: use sapProducerportal02 instead of 172.19.144.155

Migrating Portal Content from a previous release

I am stuck up with a challenging task. I am new to Portals and will really appreciate your help.
I have installed the new OAS 10.1.2 version and upgraded it to the Portal 10.1.4 version. There is a some Portal Content present on different OAS installations which are earlier versions of the server (9i and 10.0.3)
Can i migrate this Portal Content to the new Portal Server (10.1.4)? Please provide me with the appropriate information.

Hi,
It is not possible to migrate portal contents to the different version of Portal. In order to export the portal contents both the source and destination machine should have same Portal version.
As a work around you need to upgrade the Portal instance in other OAS to the highest Portal version(10.1.4).

I am using Weblogic portal 10.3, need to publish a content item for futhre date , i tried adding the date and time to startDate property and published it, and the changes got reflected immediately.

Case 1 -
Assuming that there is a version which is currently displayed on the portal, if the business has published 3 future versions already (not yet published on portal), then he can make any changes in any of the future versions and have them automatically published.
Case 2 -
If there is a version which is currently displayed and there are 2 future versions published in the repository already, if the business user wants to make any changes in the current version, he just changes and re-publishes for the updated stuff to appear on the portal.
Case 3 - overlaps
Incase of 2 published versions with the same start dates but varying end dates, as the content selector will pick up both the nodes into the arraylist. In that case we can write a comparator, which incase of same start dates, do a comparison on the version id, and then pick the latest version. but in that case, we may lose one version. I guess in that case, we will have to advise the user handling this versionong to provide sequential dates for all the versions.
I hope I have got the issue right and covered all the cases.

Dynamic system resolution for portal published BI content

I have a Dev-Tst-Prd ABAP stack BI landscape with a corresponding Dev-Tst-Prd Java stack portal landscape.
My BI developers create reports and webdynpro applications which are then published to our portal and made available via iViews. These iViews refer to the target applications via URLs which contain hardcoded hostnames and port numbers. This makes it a pain when portal content is transported from Dev to Tst and then to Prd.
All my BI systems are known by the SAP_BW alias. I have a different system definition in each portal for the SAP_BW alias pointing to the corresponding BI backend.
Can I use dynamic system resolution for this? If so, how?
I want a URL like http://<devhost.domain>:<devport>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appname to be transportable. Obviously if that starts out as http://dev.mycompany.com:8100/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appname, it won't work when it arrives in tst where it needs to be http://tst.mycompany.com:8110/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appname. If I could store the URL as something like http://<%JSP SAP_BW %>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appname this could be transportable if there was something in dynamic system resolution to resolve the variable appropriately at runtime in each system.
As a Netweaver administrator, rather than a portal developer, I'm a little lost as to where to even start.

What finally worked?
Create a Portal Component iView of type com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap
Set URL Template to http://<System.wap.ITS.hostname>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zcs_wd_cc_app
Set System to SAP_BW (where SAP_BW is an alias for the System entry for the system where we want the WebDynpro app to run)

Where did the parameter value reference come from?
The "wap.ITS.hostname" attribute name came from the portal's system definition for SAP_BW. Under System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape -> Portal Content the entry for the SAP_BW system can be displayed. In that system entry there is a field labelled SAP ITS host which contains the fully qualified hostname and port number for the ITS server delivering my application. Expanding the detail of this field (click the arrow head beside the name) shows its Property ID to be wap.ITS.hostname.
So this last answers my earlier question about where to find the valid contexts and attributes per context for the variables to substitute in the URL template. The contexts are the names of the fields available to configure the iView, the attributes are the Property IDs of the relevant information fields in the obect described by the context.
Note: This solution ended up only being required for WebDynpro content. The generated URL for WebDynpros appears to resolve any load-balance ITS URL to a specific host and port before publishing, the method here leaves the resolution until runtime - a great advantage in performance and flexibility.
The Web Application Designer published report content was generated in a transportable form already.

Crawling iplanet portal server secured content.

authentication mechanism of iplanet portal server keep the user's session?
is iPlanet Portal server using cookie to store the session id or pass it
back and forth as a parameter? Where can I find more information about this?

after doing deployment the model in the VC will be published in the Portal content.
You can define the path where you want to publish the Model in the Portal under portalk content in
(In VC) Tools->Options->Compiler->Deployment folder(mention the folder name in the portal content).

Can we use WebCenter Sites Content Store as the default content store in WebCenter Portal?
I need to create website in WebCenter Sites, all the content will be stored in Sites Content Store. I also need to integrate WebCenter Portal with Sites content store to fetch contents from the store and display it in Portal. I do not wish to purchase WebCenter Content.
Is this possible?

Well , as suggested by jiri machotka, you can go for version 11.1.1.8.0 version with proper license.
However,if you are using earlier versions than I must say that-
It's going to be very very complex and cumbersome development process al-together . (at least for me) .Because why I am telling this is -
The content repository structure of (webcenter site's CA server )is completely different from UCM (webcenter content server and preferred cms for portal).
In previous threads ,lot of things are being discussed about this issue.
In my opinion,you can very well integrate sites content to portal pages via REST API. Documentation is available.

Apart from it, you can also do -
1. Gadgets - You can consume Gadgets from WebCenter Portal, some examples with Google Gadgets are available in OTN.
