Can't create a dial up modem connection

hi...
need help here.
i have lenovo 3000 notebook V200 series with build in conexant modem, i have installed the modem driver correctly, i have query the modem and it shows the result successfully. but why does vista doesn't detect the modem when i'm trying to create a dial up modem connection ?. i also use the wireless 3G modem provided by AT&T. can anyone help me ? thank you...
sincerely
arifin

what do you mean? you can't create dial connection or you dont heard dial tone when you try to connect? Did you see under hardware devices. Does it show moderm at all? Try to hook up phone line to it and listen to dial tone? if It does. It would work fine. or you can upgrade moderm driver to see if you can create connection again.
Good luck to you

  • How can I create a mobile application to connect with my php system

II have few question to ask all expert here :
    1. Im using Netbeans IDE, how can I compile the .java file to .jar ?
    2. Currently, I have created a point of sales application using php and I hope to create a Mobile application to connect with tis system. So, anyone can let me know what I need to start ?
    3. Im using postgresql database, anyone here know how to connect with mobile application?

!. When you build java application in NetBeans (standard one) you just click 'Build' or 'Clean and Build' and your jar file is waiting for you inside 'dist' directory of your project
    2. Connecting MIDP application to the server running PHP scripts is not a problem, just connect using simple HTTP with GET or POST and you are done, google on it!
    3. You can connect to the database using some kind of PHP/JSP/ASP or whatever application you want and then using method from point 2 to send and retrive values, you can do it with web services as well, possibilities are endless
    Hope this helps!

  • Can't create a WPA2-Enterprise wireless connection; missing Microsoft: PEAP

    OS: Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise
    Hardware: Lenovo T410S w/Intel 5300 ABGN Wireless
If I try to build the wireless connection manually and choose WPA2-Enterprise, then click next, I get 'An unexpected error occurred.' and no options to configure; just close.
I then tried to create a Preshared Key WPA2 connection. This worked fine. When I go to edit the connection, I have the ability to select the WPA2-Enterprise options, however in the list of Network Authentication methods (under Security Tab), I don't have
the Microsoft: PEAP or SmartCard options. I only have Cisco: LEAP,PEAP,EAP-FAST and Intel: EAP-SIM,EAP-TTLS,EAP-AKA (6 entries).
It's my theory that because the Microsoft options are missing, the wizard gets the unexpected error. I'm wondering how I get the MS ones back.

  • Can you create a Remote Access VPN connection to tunnel DMZ LAN and Inside Networks simultaneously?

I have a customer that has a ASA 5510 version 8.3 with IPSEC Client Access that includes some of their networks on the Inside interface.   The issue they are having is when their mobile users connect with the vpn client (which is using split tunneling), they can no longer access their web server applications that are running in the DMZ.   Without the client connected, they access the web servers via the external public IP.  Once they are connected via vpn, their default dns server becomes the internal AD DNS server, which resolves the DNS of the web servers to the private DMZ ip address.
Can a Remote Access VPN client connection be allowed to connect to both the DMZ interface and the Inside Interface? I had always only setup RA VPN clients to connect to networks on the Inside Interface.
I tried adding the DMZ network to the Split Tunnel list, but I could not access anything it while connected to vpn using the private IP addresses.

Yes, you should be able to access DMZ subnets as well if they are added to the split tunnel ACL. You could check the NAT exemption configuration for the DMZ and also check if the ASA is forwarding the packet through DMZ interface by configuring captures on the DMZ interface.
Share the configuration if you want help with the NAT exemption part.

  • ASA5510 , how can i create natpolicy for two DSL connections

How can tell me how to configure our ASA to nat our to internetconnections, at the moment the first work fine,
    ISP1                        NAT
                            ASA5510      LAN
    ISP2                         NAT
    Regards

Looks like you are trying to loadbalance the outbound traffic, if that's the case i would say true Load balancing is not possible on ASA, however below are the possible workaround options.
      1st  Option
You can configure Dual ISP setup on the firewall which will provide redundancy among ISP, means if 1st ISP goes down the ASA will start routing traffic from the secondary ISP, below is the link for configuring the same.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_configuration_example09186a00806e880b.shtml
    2nd Option
    Lets take an example
    ASA----- ISP1 (1.1.1.2)
       |---------ISP2 (2.2.2.2)
We  can force the traffic for the destination ports to be routed through secondary ISP, keeping both the ISP passing traffic at the same time.
Following are the commands which will achieve it-
    route ISP1 0 0 1.1.1.2 //Default route pointing to ISP1
    route ISP2 0 0 2.2.2.2 2 //Default route with Metric 2 via ISP2
    static (ISP2,inside) tcp 0.0.0.0 80 0.0.0.0 80
    static (ISP2,inside) tcp 0.0.0.0 443 0.0.0.0 443
    sysopt noproxyarp inside
    nat (inside) 1 0 0
    global (ISP1) 1 interface
    global (ISP2) 1 interface
Thats it !! Now all the traffic destined to any address on port 80/443 will be forcibly put on ISP2 interface and routed from there.
Note: This stuff requires that we KNOW what the destination ports are, if there is some traffic which uses dynamic ports, like voice traffic we will have to route it via ISP1 and cannot make it route via ISP2.
    3Rd  Option
ASA is not a  Load-balancer and if you want to do load balancing between ISPs  we cannot *truly* achieve this, but we may configure ASA in such a manner that traffic for some destination IP address is routed via ISP1 and some is routed via ISP2. Following would be configuration commands in this scenario-
    nat (inside) 1 0 0
    global (ISP1) 1 interface
    global (ISP2) 1 interface
    route ISP1 128.0.0.0 128.0.0.0 1.1.1.2
    route ISP2 0.0.0.0 128.0.0.0 2.2.2.2
The first creates a default route that routes addresses with the first bit of 1 to 1.1.1.2 of ISP1.
The second creates a default route that routes addresses with the first bit of 0 to 2.2.2.2 of ISP2.
Note: This will do traffic routing based on *Destination* IP addresses and NOT based on traffic load. As I mentioned, ASA is NOT a LB.

  • Can I create User profile service sync connection for my site without Active directory?

    Hi everyone,
Is it possible to use my site without active directory? our AD policy don't allow farm account to have "Replicating directory changes", If I export AD information to SQL and sync profile from SQL is it possible?
    Thanks
    TanaponP

Yes, you can use mysites without setting up user profile sync.  But you won't be able to sync information from SQL without having a primary sync setup with AD first.  Syncing to something like SQL is designed to augment existing profiles.  It
    won't create new ones.

  • How can I create geographic charts with Lumira connected to SAP HANA?

    Hello All
I'm testing SAP Lumira and I want to make geographic charts with data from SAP HANA. This is possible when I use data from a local Excel-file. But not when I use data from SAP HANA. I was told it should work after installing Service Pack 8. But it still doesn't work. Maybe we have to turn something on, change a configuration file. Maybe it has to do with SAP Lumira, not with SAP HANA. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Here are some technical details:
    SAP HANA Version: 1.00.81.00.392776 (NewDB100_REL).
SAP Lumira Version: 1.19.0 (build 1099) (latest version).
    SAP HANA Studio Version: 1.00.81.0.
Windows Version: Windows 7 Enterprise, Service Pack 1.
    Kind regards, Robbert

    Hello Antoine
At paragraph 3.2.2 on page 73 it says:
Creating geography hierarchies with latitude and longitude data is not currently supported for SAP HANA data sources.
I think this explains everything. Well, almost everything. I created geographic charts with Lumira while connected with Excel or a csv-file. The question now is, am I waiting for an update of SAP Lumira or an update of SAP HANA? Or both?
    Kind regards, Robbert

  • Can't create pots dial-peer on CME router

I just acquired a cisco 2650, which i upgraded to "12.3 enterprise plus" IOS. i have CME configured on this router, with 2 7960s registered and working just fine. i add an NM-2V module with a 2FXS and a 2FXO cards into each of the NM slots. when i ty to configure the pots dial peers, the command parser doesn't show 'pots' as a valid dial-peer type:
    confi t
    dial-peer voice 1 pots
i get an error, and when i parse, only 'voip' is enabled as a valid dial-p type.
what i am doing wrong? is there any commands i am missing, in order to activate the pots? yet, when i do a "show voice port summary" i can clearly see the fxo ports in dormant stante, and when i plug an analog phone to it, i can hear the ringtone upon picking up.
    please help.
    regards
    T.

i figured it out, finally. for some reason,if you issue "dial-peer voice 1", the only option available after integer 1 is "Voip". but when i pick any other integer >=2, then i get the option for either "voip" or "pots". so the bottom line is that i should have NOT used 1 for the dial-peer number.
why that is? go figure. i am aware of the defauld null dial-peer, but this one got me scratching my head. i can't say for sure that this worked for me in the past, but if this has been in the IOS for some time and i am only running into it now, then i guess my learning process have lots to look forward to :)
thanks for looking into this with me.

  • Dial-up Internet connection support software missing after Rescue and Recovery on T42p

    Hi!
I have a ThinkPad T42p laptop computer with Machine Type: 2373-HSG and Serial Number: xxxxxxx.
The computer came with Windows XP Professional SP1 as well as a number of useful tools and applications preinstalled by the factory.
One of them was a piece of software called something like "Call Waiting" or something similar, as I cannot now remember very well. Its purpose was to allow users receive an incoming telephone call while being connected to the Internet through a dial-up modem connection.
Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, a virus caused so severe a damage to my system that I had to use the Rescue and Recovery feature to have the preloaded operating system, reinstalled.
I subsequently upgraded the preloaded Windows XP Professional SP1 to SP3, upgraded Internet Explorer from the preloaded version 6 to the latest version 8, dowloaded and installed all the other available Microsoft Update files as well all the latest versions of drivers and ThinkVantage utilities and applications from the Lenovo website.
Unfortunately, however, this "Call Waiting" application has been lost as it neither available for download on the Lenovo website nor in the C:\ibmtools folder on my hard disk which includes all the applications and utilities of the system as they were delivered and preloaded from the factory.
I would greatly appreciate your help that could be offered to me about it.
More specifically, I would like to know what the exact name of this piece of software is because I am not sure if it is indeed "Call Waiting" or something else and where can I download a legal copy of it from.
However, if it is no longer available for download, is there any other similar application which would work the same impeccably with my ThinkPad's integrated 56K CXT modem and, if yes, where could I get it from?
    All the best!
moderator note: serial deleted for owners protection.

Wow.. I didn’t think there was anyone left on 56k Dial up...
I think I vaguely remember the software from my old T41 but I think it was IBM propriety and as I don't have that Thinkpad any more unable to check.
You could try this though "http://usuarios.multimania.es/olcall/index_enu.html"

  • Using a dial-up modem

I guess I'm posting this out of sheer desperation, although it sounds like there isn't anything that can be done.  I moved to the DC area last November and before signing an 18-month lease, I contacted Verizon directly, and my building also contacted their local Verizon rep to ensure that I would have no problems using a dial-up modem connection.  I was very upfront about what I needed the line for and was given every assurance that everything would be fine.
Unfortunately, my fax modem is prone to constant disconnects, and I've been told by Verizon tech support that they can't run copper to the premesis.  I need the line to perform closed captioning for television.  Closed captioning still uses antequated technology which involves the text of what's being said on the program to be transmitted from my home to the TV station via the phone lines.  The modem regularly disconnects at 32 and 37 past the hour -- that's almost guaranteed -- as well as other times.
So long story short, Verizon tells me everything is fine until I sign a lease and sign up for service and tech support basically tells me there's nothing that can be done.  It's my livlihood that's on the line and there's nothing I can do about it. If by some miracle someone knows of something I can do to make a data transmission connection stable on fiberoptic lines, I'd be very grateful.  I've tried just about every fix I possibly can.
    Thanks.

Some people find by changing the error correction settings or speed on the modems, you can improve the reliability of a modem over FiOS voice. Realistically it shouldn't be causing a problem. Have you tried tinkering with the modem's settings if at all possible?

  • Modem connection sound, short electronic sound oddity

Hoping someone has an idea about what's happening on my 24" iMac. Leopard 10.5.8, iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Chrome 13.0.782.112.
I've rebooted several times in the past 2 weeks, but the problems described below are still occurring.
About 3 weeks ago, I installed two new Iomega external hard drives - one 2 gb for external storage (firewire) and one 2 gb for Time Machine (USB). I bought the USB drive several months ago, before this model had firewire - just now got around to configuring everything.
A few days later, I noticed what sounded like the dial-up connection sound from a modem - only I don't HAVE a modem. I am connected to Cox cable modem via ethernet. I have heard this sound randomly over the past 2 weeks and it seems to be coming from one of the external drives (I know that sounds nuts, but I turned the sound off on my iMac, trying to troubleshoot). A few days ago, another irritating sound began randomly appearing - kind of a two-note, electronic sound, do-do. Totally random - and this one can be turned off by muting my iMac. It doesn't seem to be happening in response to any specific action. I've observed both behaviors for days now, and can't tie either to anything I'm doing.
The modem sound happens whether I'm using the Mac or not; the little irritating electronic two-tone sound only happens when I'm typing or browsing the Internet. I just this minute thought about the two-tone sound being connected to Chrome or one of the extensions, so I just disabled the 3 extensions but the sound is still happening. I'll try closing Chrome and trying a completely different extension. It's like an alert, but it's not a sound in my alert-sound choices and not the one I have selected.
I prowled through all the system preferences, and all sharing is turned off. The firewall is turned off, with both Firewall logging and Stealth Mode turned on. I switched the firewall setting from "allow essential" to "set access for specific ..." I haven't heard the modem sound again, but that's been happening very randomly and sometimes days apart. At least, when I'm in the room.
The only 3rd-party apps in Preferences are Perian, Flip 4 Mac WMV, and Adobe Version Cue.
No other apps except Chrome are open right now. Bluetooth and Airport are turned off. The little phone handset icon at top right, when clicked, indicates that no modem configurations were found. I checked the firewall log, and mostly see attempted stealth mode connections via TCP or UDP (?) from China, primarily (used whois to backtrack IP addresses). The new attempts don't correlate to the two-tone sound.
Not sure what else to check/try ... hoping someone has an idea. I could have hit a funky key-combo (I type very fast) but the two-tone sound is so random and intermittent, that doesn't seem like it could have caused its sudden appearance. And I am more worried about the modem-connection sound - can that possibly be coming from my Cox cable modem, and/or be an external connection attempt or successful intrusion? My system has never made the sound before - both sounds began appearing when I installed the two new external drives. I "ejected" the external HD that isn't the Time Machine HD, but the two-tone sound is still happening.
    Thanks for any assistance!!
    Deb

Hi BD - Thanks for the speedy reply, sorry for my own delay (life happened). The "external hard drive logging in" is solved, and you won't believe this - there is a new commercial that features the sound of a dial-up modem connecting to the Internet, and this is what I was hearing. The television and my computer desk are located at the end of a long living room, and I always heard the noise from another room. When I'd come in, the hard drive would be spinning up so all I could assume was that the HD and the noise were related. Geez! It didn't seem at all possible, particularly since I know a HD does not have speakers and I'd muted the Mac, but who would have realized it was a commercial?!?! I was finally sitting at the computer a few days ago, and the commercial came on. Light bulb went on, and the rest is tech-support-funny-story history. No wonder the log activity entries don't correspond to the commercial airing despite the fact that it began airing around the same time I installed the new HDs.
The little two-tone sound was apparently tied to a tab in Chrome - I tried a diff. browser and had no noise, went back to Chrome and it was still there. I began closing tabs and after I'd closed several, I realized the noise was gone. Who knows on that one. No idea why I have the phone handset icon - didn't migrate anything to this machine (still on 10.5.8), but it isn't hurting anything and has always been there. No faxing setup. Actually I need a good website for faxing PDFs - but that's another story. No landline here at home.
Thanks again for your reply and attempt to help me! There is no way, I bet, with ANY amount of troubleshooting that I'd have solved this - glad I didn't waste any more time trying things.

  • Can't connect to internet via dial up modem

I recently purchased a Mac Book Pro computer and while I can readily connect to the internet via my workplace Ethernet based LAN, I am having problems connecting to my ISP via the USB dial-up modem that I purchased with the system. The problem it seems is that my ISP (Bluelight internet @ www.mybluelight .com) doesn’t support the OS-X operating system and when I try to connect from the Windows XP side, the system doesn’t recognize the modem because there is no Windows driver for it. So it appears that I have 3 options available: 1) obtain a Windows compatible driver for the MAC modem (easiest): 2) buy a new modem that is both windows and OS-X compatible; or 3) change my ISP to one that supports OS-X. As I see things, the easiest way around this problem would be to get a windows compatible driver for the modem so that I can access the web from the XP side. Is there a Windows XP compatible driver available for the MAC USB port modem? If not does anybody have any other suggestions? Thank You

Try using a different USB port. Several people are having problems with the single port on the right.
I would not expect a compatability issue with your ISP. After all you only need a telephone number and usrid/password and the prtocols are standard.
