Can't create a printer icon

Hello,
I've a Powermac G3 266 Mhz and I want to install the HP laserjet 2550ln. I upgrade the system from os 8.0 to 9.2 to install the printer. Then I use the Printer Utility (in the folder Utilities) to create the printer icon: I select Printer LPR and select the PPD file and define the LPR printer options (IP address and queue name RAW), so when I click "verify", the system find the printer with its IP address. But when I click on "create" button and save it, the system don't create the desktop printer icon, though this process works for a imac which is in the same network.

That it works on one Mac and not another is a different question but you seem to be describing the OS X Printer Utility…
Are you actually using pure OS 9, or Classic 9 running over OS X, please?
Either way, can you try Desktop Printer Utility?

You can use the button tool, add a message or graphic to the button, and select the action to be print. Do this using the form tools under the Tools>Advanced Editing button, not the form structure of Designer.

I downloaded the Acrobat 11 trial and I can open the product. During the install it deleted the existing print driver and did not install a new print driver so I CAN Not create and print pdf files.

What OS? Have you tried a repair and updates from the HELP menu? The updates may be the key.

How Can I Create a Print Button on a PDF Using Acrobat Pro That Will Also Work on iOS?

I created a Print Button on a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat Pro on my Mac. The Print button works perfectly on different browsers on my Mac and on Windows (running under Parallels Desktop) as well.
When I open the document on my iPad the Print button doesn't even appear. I am guessing that this is a Flash issue but it may be more related to the fact the the action for the button is to access the Print menu item, which doesn't exist under iOS.
Is there any way to create a Print button using Acrobat Pro that will work on a Mac and Windows but also on iOS?

In order to initiate printing by clicking a button, the button has to have either an "execute menu item" type action or use the "print" JavaScript method. As you guessed, the former won't work since there are no menu items to execute, and the latter can only work if the particular PDF viewer you're using supports it. I'm not aware of any that do on iOS.
The button doesn't appear because you're probably opening it in the default PDF viewer, which doesn't support forms at all. If you were to open the form in Adobe Reader, you'd see the button but it wouldn't work.

Hello Kappy - Thank you for persevering with my printer issues. Firstly, I use Firefox, recently updated & as yet have not discovered how to monitor downloads. The software for HP Laserjet 2200 was eventually automaticallly, and therefore correctly, installed.The Add Printer Pane accessed via the + button in the Printer & Scanner window is blank - the Name & Location and Print Using & Add areas are all grayed out, therefore I can't locate the printer driver even though it is in the Printer folder. I messed around with HP Direct Protocol & Line Daemon functions, entering my IP address, just to see if I could locate the printer driver - I could. However, I get a pop-up window which says 'Unable to verify the printer on your network' but it gives me the option of going ahead anyway, which I did. I was able to create a print queue, able to give a print command, the printer window opens, but the printer appears as 'busy', but of course it's not printing. To look at the issue from another perspective: previously I was running 10.5.8 on my old Power Mac G5 and a week before I shifted over the iMac I paused the printer but when tried to resume printing I got a pop-up message saying IPadmin > enter administrator name + password. Which of course I couldn't do - I discovered this was a bug afflicting10.5 & 10.6 operating systems; the only way I could get around it was by re-creating myself as a new administrator, which I did, and got the printer going again. So, if I have a "Network" printer perhaps there's another route to get the driver recognized... What do you think?

Can Anyone Create a Print Widget fo Captivate 4

I am still unable to print a single slide in Captivate 4 I loaded the slides printer widget that cames with Captivate 4 in to Flash 8 in the hope I could edit it and just have the print option, without all the extras but don't know enough to make it work. Is anyone out there able to create a printer widget for Cap4.
I am dunfounded that there is no option to print a slide. I have now started creating e-learning using courselab because it's so easy to print a slide in.

It can't be done on the iPad using iPhoto for iOS. You need to use iPhoto for the Mac.

Can´t create my own icons/ folder is missing

Hello everybody,
The manual of logic express i read somehing about creating my own icons to use them in logic express.
The Problem is that teh folder /Library/Application Support/Logic/Logic Resources/Icons does not exist. This is the place where the icons have to be put in.
So I just created one but it doesn´t work. All Icons are 128*128 *.png files with alpha channel.
I really want to use this fantastic option to put all my synths as icon in logic express.
Please help me !!!!

Glad I found this, as I've been trying to figure this out too.
Back when I had the Logic 6 Big Box I remember putting icons in the Emagic equivalent of the resources folder. I'll try this out, but I hope that they fix it so that we can put icons in the user folder. I like only having to drag and drop a home directory to backup. This creates more steps.
Edit: Oh, found the fix from another thread. The manual is wrong. You should put your icons in ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Images/Icons. If the folder isn't there, create it. You should be pleasantly suprised.

How can I get the printer icon to show in 3.6.6

In previous versions a printer icon showed near the top of the page - I would like to have that again instead of doing a File-Print action or control-p.

First verify your command works with an Administrator.
I'm pretty sure Power Users should be able to create printers. Test your command with a user added to Power Users. If that works, try adding the SYSTEM Power Users and reboot, then try the command
runnign under System (normally step this shouldn't be needed, but we want to make sure SYSTEM has the minimum permissions).
The one catch may be (just a theory) that SYSTEM does not have an HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry setting (i would need to verify, but i think this is true). Usually creating a printer adds the printer to the current user profile as well. If the other
solutions work, but SYSTEM fails, that's most likely the case. You will need to use a user account then.

Can I create a printed calendar in iphoto with ipad. Don't see that option.

IPhoto used in past by others in family to create a family calendar as Xmas gift. This year it is my job. Downloaded iPhoto for iPad from App Store. (Paid $4.99). Now can't find path to create a calendar. Description of iPhoto includes calendar, but seems ambiguous on use of iPhoto iPad app for this. Maybe can only do calendars on the Mac version? Can I use iPhoto for iPad to make a calendar?

iPhoto on the iPad can be used to make photo books, but not calendars. It is a very different program from the Mac version of iPhoto. I hope you have access to a mac to create your christmas calendar.

Search the AppStore for "Foto Calendar". I have not tried any of these apps, but there are quite a few, that claim to be able to create an "Awesome foto calendar"

Can I create two mail icons in the dock for two separate accounts?

I'm trying to set up two mail icons in the dock - one for my wife's e-mail, one for me - all under the administrator iMac log in. I'm trying to do this without her having to have a separate mac log in. Is this possible? If so, how do I duplicate the postage stamp mail icon and capability?

If there are two users on one Mac, the best approach is to have two user accounts, one for you and one for your wife.

The new user account will appear to be a whole different Mac, and she can set it up to her liking (different mouse settings, desktop background, Dock appearance, etc.) without affecting anything in your user account. If you enable Fast User Switching, both users can be logged in at the same time, and switch using the right corner of the Menu Bar.
With separate accounts, each persons instance of Mail will be their own and go to their email account.
