Can't create iPhone backups anymore

Hello,
A while a go I disabled auto-backup using terminal by this command
"com.apple.iTunes DeviceBackupsDisabled -bool true"
Theoretically, to enable backups again I would just change it to false. BUT it didn't work!
I get "-bash: com.apple.iTunes: command not found"
_*What do I do now? How do I create backups again?*_ I have also tried using disablebackup.app but didn't work either.
edit: I don't have "Back up" option when I right click on my iPhone in iTunes. It's gone.

It's not a lazy solution - it's a workable one. And it doesn't take very long either.
A risk of terminal hacks is precisely this - that they have unintended consequences. If this is an Apple approved process, then report a bug to Apple. If it isn't, then whoever provided it should have put the usual disclaimer in about using at your own risk.
I don't mean to dump on you, but I just think that, rationally, an iTunes reinstall that fixes the issue is more attractive than a drawn-out search for a compensating hack

Well, to unmount the drive, you can use the Terminal application.
Start in Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
When the Terminal window opens, type - without the quotes and with the space at the end - this:
"diskutil unmount "
Then drag the icon of the unmounted drive from the desktop into the Terminal window - the drive location will be added to the end of the command above. It should look something like this:
diskutil unmount /Volumes/volumename
Then press enter (return).
That should unmount the drive. Now you can try the Time Machine process again with perhaps a different interconnect cable for the GoFlex.

Can't find iPhone backup on icloud (only shows iPad backups)

Setting up new iPhone 5 from icloud (previous one lost). Updated iOS (previous iPhone had iOS 7) but can't find iPhone backup (only shows iPad backups); however, I can see all my contacts on iCloud.com. Can all my contacts be there without having made any iPhone backup on iCloud? iPad is on 6.1.3

Maybe you can try some data recovery program to search your iPhone backup files. These kinds of data recovery programs
for example, iPhone Data Recovery, are designed to help users to find back and recover their lost files.
I suggest that you run this kind of software, and then choose the 3rd mode in the software to retrieve all of your iCloud backup, I guess you can see your iPhone backup there.

Lion's Time Machine - Can't create a backup?

Time Machine can't make a backup... I even went ahead and wiped out the drive and tried to create a new backup.
All it says is that it couldn't complete the backup and to try later as it might only be temporary.
This is critical for me and a not at all light in importance. Had I known this along all the other issues with Lion existed I wouldn't have upgraded. For now I am keeping my MBP safe from Lion...
I guess I just have to suffer the damage on my 27" IMAC..
I would use a BR Disk to do a back up of my files, but NO.... MACs don't support Blu-Ray disk drives, STILL!!
Apple you need to fix this and other issues.

Apple's ingenuity in their advances can be hailed by millions as I myself give them credit where credit is due, such as devices like the iPad and iPhone/iPod. But when a company only bothers to alert you to a couple of apps that Lion can't run and moves them to a folder for the user to delete or update but leaves devices and other industry standard software packages rendered useless with no warning when they have extensively tested their OS against 3rd party manufactured devices and software, whom they are partnered with, then yes they can share in the blame just as Microsoft takes the blame for operating systems that do the same such as VISTA.
I am sure that with enough time all of the 3rd party companies will undoubtedly get on board at some cost that will get pushed down to the end users. They will either update, upgrade or conform.
Apples mentality in the past hurt their stock prices, they used to only use their own Risc based processors and they refused to adapt and incorporate to the needs of their users desires for better faster chipsets and industry software such as Office. They adapted!
Refusing to incorporate the ability to use Blu-Ray technologies when companies such as Pioneer,LG, and Cyberlink are prepared to release the software for the Mac, Apple just has to give the go ahead, then yes, its their fault again. The industry in general isn't blind, they have a reason. Manufacturers want to create things that work with Apples Operating system and do, but they aren't allowed to release it without approval from Apple. They need Apple's support and acceptance for something like Blu-Ray to make it. Otherwise its just another hack and shunned by any cautious person that wants to make sure that their purchase won't cause them more problems than its worth. Blu-Ray is a matter of licensing and a major reason that Microsoft won't incorporate it into their own media player, but they leave it up to 3rd party software companies to absorb that cost and create their own players that can play back Blu-Ray movies within the Windows platform. Apple wants to keep Blu-Ray off of their machines as they can't obtain an exclusive license to the codec for Blu-Ray movies for Quicktime. The same mentality that they had before with their processors. So even the ability to read and write to the medium is out of the question.

How can I create daily backups in separate folders?

Fom iTunes, Edit | Preferences | Devices, I can see two different backups, one for today (the default where my iPhone always syncs and one done on 6/21/11 at 2:12 pm. I don't know how that one for 6/21 got created, separate from the default backup folder.
I'm trying to figure out how make that happen again.
Does anyone know how iTunes creates and dates backups and maintains multiple backups in the Backup Restore list? I'm sure some steps I followed created a separate backup in the list. I need to be able to replicate those steps so I can create my own separate backups when I want (daily backups).
I'm running iTunes 10.3.1.55 for Windows. My iPhone 3GS is running iOS 4.3.3

LOL. Hey, the "More like this" section AFTER you post a question is more accurate and easier to find an answer to your question than SEARCHING the forum. I found the answer to my question, which is, iTunes only creates and time stamp a backup and sets it apart when you upgrade the iOS. I upgraded to 4.3.3 on 6/21/11; there's my answer. Reposting here, just in case someone actually knows how to search the forum and finds it without having to post a question. LOL

OSX Tiger - can I create a backup CD?

I bought my Intel Core 2 Duo MBP in January and have got some issues partitioning for bootcamp. I have tried to clone my HD to an external drive but because it's in NTFS it won't let me - therefore I decided to just backup my data and applications and do a reformat. However, I cannot find the little box with my system CDs in, can I create them in Mac OSX somehow or do I have to buy replacements?

You will have to obtain replacements by calling AppleCare.

ICloud storage full on iphone, but deleted almost everything and grows larger! iPad is fine with same iCloud acct. can I delete iPhone backup then turn it back on without loosing iCloud data?

Icloud storage full. Can I delete my iPhone icloud backup with keeping my iCloud data unharmed (since my iPad has iCloud storage turned on, and I wouldn't be turning iCloud off on my iPad). BTW, I use iTunes for music and photo albums; iCloud for contacts, notes, etc. Then turn iCloud back up back on on iphone to see if I had a problem file and the storage changes?
ICloud storage full. I deleted messages, moved the camera roll to my PC, deleted Safari bookmarks, turned off almost every app in Managing iCloud storage. I turned off the backup, restarted iCloud backup and did a manual backup yet my storage gets larger yet.
Makes no sense. I have a iPhone and iPad. It's the iPhone showing this large iCloud storage 3.6 GB (when the iPad has more apps and only 716MB).

ANSWER to my Question above: YES.
I took a chance, as I could find NO information regarding my question, and DELETED MY ICLOUD BACKUP (not my ICLOUD account). I then turned ON my ICLOUD BACKUP and whew! It plummeted from 4.8 GB full out of 5 GB TO: 1.2 GB full out of 5 GB.
I even turned on more settings to back up and it still shows 1.2 GB full in ICLOUD, 3.8 available. No more emails to say I am running out of ICLOUD space.
[For what its worth if others are getting messages their ICLOUD is almost full, and you don't have all that much on ICLOUD. Then when you even delete apps, messages, camera roll, turn off almost ALL icloud back ups and features the ICLOUD backup grows even larger. My ICLOUD kept increasing in size while I was decreasing my ICLOUD storage in Managing storage.]
(All my ICLOUD contacts, notes, Safari bookmarks, were returned in place.)

Can't create own ringtones anymore

it's unbelievable at how greedy iphone can be at disabling creating your own ringtones, to update the itunes just get rid of this ability smacks of nothing but greed, hope your pleased with your greedy pathetic little selves

Can I create iPhone 4s camera archive?

I just upgraded to FCPX 10 uh oh 3 and was a bit thrilled to see the new features and fixes.
HOWEVER…
I've been wanting to do multicam iPhone segments for some time, not to mention wanting to have a real compatibility between the iPhone (as a camera) and FCP.
I got FCPX seing the iPhone OK — and able to mutitask with importing different clips at the same time!
However, I can't seem to be able to create an archive directly from the iPhone when I had no problem with a fairly lame Canon consumer camera.
FCPX shows a choice to select an existing achive — "Open Archive" — to add to, but the button "Create Archive" is greyed out.
Am I doing something wrong or do I have to wait for Uh Oh 4?

It doesn't "require archiving, but it would still be nice to have the option to archive it from that window so that it syncs to my regular workflow.
Bonus question:
Why is it suggested that I store archives to a disk seperate from other files — that is, for reasons other than having a seperate disk in case the original fails. I mirror my drives.

Can I create iPhone SMS favorites list in ios 7?

I used to be able to Clear Conversations and leave the list of people with whom I most frequently use SMS. THis optin is now gone and I have to remove the person from the list if I don't want to store all the messages. How do I create a "favorites" list in SMS similar to that of the phone favorites list?

You can still do that in iOS 7. Open the thread. Tap and hold on one of the messages. A bubble will pop up. Tap More. Delete All will appear in the upper left. Tap.

Can you create a backup of the app tabs for future importing?

I'd like to be able to save a backup file of my app tabs, kind of like how you can with the Bookmarks. This way in the event I lose them, or reformat the computer, not only can I restore my bookmarks, but I would be able to restore my app tabs too.

Time machine backup files gone and can't create new backup

Last week I noticed on my Time Machine backup HD that the Backup.backupdb files were gone. Also I am unable to complete backups any longer. I get an error "The backup disk image “/Volumes/Time Machine-2/walle.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error -1)."
This Volume "Time Machine" is connected to an Airport Extreme 7.6.1. I have ejected the disk, disconnected all users, cycled the power on my computer (2.26Ghx MacBook running 10.7.5), Airport, and HD. All it does after I eject is that it give the Volume a new number...ie instead of "Time Machine" it becomes "Time Machine-1"...then "Time Machine-2" and repeates the error message with the new name. So I cannot start a new backup because of the above error on top of not being able to find my old files.

Mine has been doing this auto eject stuff too.
I think I just plugged it in and TM let me select it but is it possible
I should have reformatted it with DU first, like with all the WD drive problems ?
Is it too late for that ?
Or just try to return it or get rid of it ?

I need to create a image of entire disk or a system backup. I think use "ufsdump" but I'm not sure. Can I create a backup of whole disk with "ufsdump" command? Are there any application to do it.?

If you want to create an image of the entire disk, then `dd' is an option. But you can also use ufsdump to create an image of a filesystem running on that disk, but you need to do that for every filesystem on the disk and please keep a copy of you vtoc for the future if you need to restore everything.
On the other hand you make me thing about someone who wants to clone machines and then a Flash Archive can also be an option. Please keep in mind to ask the question in the future instead of conformation of your answer ;-)

With SP16-17 we can't create support message from satellite system anymore

We have implemented the support package 16 and 17 SAPKITL427 in solution manager last week-end and since then all satellite systems can not create support message anymore.
The process is perfectly working in solman itself and we don't think we have thus a process customizing issue here but who knows...
The key user creates the message with the help -> create support message
and when he saves it (clicking the mailbox button) he gets the following error
Error in Local Message System: Function not available Message was Not
Created
In fact the error Message is BCOS088
We debugged the function BCOS_CREATE_MSG and we found out that the function
DNO_OW_CREATE_NOTIFICATION is returning error code 1.
We checked out RFC connection and it looks ok
There is no dumps in ST22, no error in SLG1 in both system...a nightmare
The notification SLF1 is created in solman but the status field of the notification is empty and it looks that the record is somehow corrupted because you can't modify it with dnotifwl.
Due to the fact that the notification is not correctly created the support message is also not created.
SAP and our solman consultant are working on it since 2 days but don't have a clue. Maybe some program where no regenerated correctly ?
If you would have any idea in which direction to look, i would greatly appreciate

Can Anyone Tell Me Why Time Machine Won't Create A BackUp Folder for a Programed Backup?

Does anyone know why my Time Machine is NOT creating a backup folder on and regular scheduled backup? Just recently I downloaded the Time Machine Editor and it said to turn off the regular Time Machine (ON/OFF) switch, and just run off the TM Editor. However, at 1am in the morning, it comes up with the error saying it can't create a Backup Folder. I'm sure this is a simple solution but I really don't know how to handle this... Would appreciate any and all help in this matter... Thanks, Gary

Were you already backing up with Time Machine - ie, did you have an existing backup folder on the drive before you started using Time Machine Editor? If not, you probably need to do at least one full backup with TM, and then start using TME to schedule backups.
