Can't Create Pools or Volumes

After a number of attempts over an extended period, I have finally succeeded in setting up a new Novell Suse Linux server with OES (SLES 11 SP3 with OES11 SP2). I did it mainly to prove that I could, having used Netware and then NOWS SBE for a time, and I still have a Maintenance / Support agreement for NOWS. As much as anything its so I can learn more about the NOWS product.
Now however, I've struck a bit of an impasse. I can log into iManager as well as Remote Manager. OES shows me that I have a SYS volume and a PUBLIC volume, and I thought I should create another volume in which I would create folders for Users, Shared Data, GroupWise etc. However, first one needs a Pool to create a volume in, and that's where I seem to be snookered. When I try to create a new Pool (in iManager), after nominating the server and a valid Pool name I'm told: "Error: Unable to find sufficient space for the request". When I set it up I did not impose any space restrictions and it appears to me that there's 219gb of free space reported. I can happily create new folders in the existing SYS or Public volumes.
Is this not what I should be capable of doing, or what am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any guidance.
Jerome

A quick hint would be to check if the firewall is still enabled (with "SuSEfirewall status" or YaST). If that is the case and depending on what you want, either stop and disable the firewall from starting or configure the firewall to let through the GW client ports that have been set on the POA.
If that's not it, indeed best to carry on with a new thread in the GW forums. :)

    Can we create Pool/cluster? If yes who can I create?

    HI,

    In the initial screen of the ABAP Dictionary, choose Utilities Further Dictionary Objects.
    A dialog box appears.
    Select the object type Table pool/cluster and enter the object name. Choose .
    A dialog box appears in which you must specify if it is a table pool or a table cluster.
    Select the required object type and choose .
    The maintenance screen for table pools/clusters appears.
    The necessary entries will have been made automatically for the fields for table pools since a table pool has a fixed structure. You should not change these standard settings if you can avoid it.
    The structure of a table cluster is also mostly fixed. Certain fields are therefore proposed when the table cluster is created. You can adjust this proposal to your requirements, for example by inserting further key fields. However, make sure you conform to the structure necessary for a table cluster.
    Enter an explanatory text in the field Short text.
    If necessary, select the  activation type of the table pool/cluster with Utilities  Activation type.
    Create documentation about the table pool/cluster with Goto  Documentation.
    This documentation should describe what the table pool/cluster is used for. The documentation is also output when the table pool/cluster is printed.
    Go to the maintenance screen for the technical settings by choosing Goto ® Technical settings.
    In contrast to the table maintenance screen, you can only define the  size category here. All other attributes of the technical settings are preset.
    Activate the table pool/cluster with .

  • Can't create connection pool using weblogic 6.1 with Oracle thin driver

    Hi Joe !
    I didn't get what you would like to point out. Actully, I am using same config.,
    but not to disclose the info. I gave you @test and username/password xxx/xxx.Ok. Now, assuming your pool looks like what I showed, the issue is probably
    that there are multiple Oracle driver zips around, and your standlaone program
    is using a different, newer, better one than the server. Our weblogic jar files
    include a classes12.zip Oracle thin driver, but there are multiple versions of
    classes12.zip, and the latest from oracle is better than the one we sealed into
    our packaging. Please use jave -verbose to identify exactly which Oracle sip file
    you are using in the successful case, then make sure this zip file comes before
    any weblogic stuff in your weblogic server's classpath, so we'll use the same
    driver. This should work. Edit the script you sue to start weblogic to verify
    the classpath does end up with the oracle driver ahead of all weblogic stuff.

    Thanks
    .MadhuriWell fine! That was easy. Your pool definition didn't have the same URL
    or
    user or password as this code. Try this for your pool definition:
    weblogic.jdbc.connectionPool.thin=\
    url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@adl-gbsdevel:1521:PROJECT,\
    driver=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver,\
    initialCapacity=10,\
    maxCapacity=10,\
    capacityIncrement=1,\
    testConnsOnReserve=true,\
    testTable=dual,\
    props=user=mkelkar;password=mkelkar
    Let me know,,,

    The DBMS driver exception was:
    java.sql.SQLException: invalid arguments in call
    at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.throwSqlException(DBError.java:168)
    Now we need to simplify the problem. Please make a simple 15-line
    standalone
    Java program like you'd find with the Oracle driver's examples, with
    no
    weblogic code in the picture. Just make a JDBC connection using Oracle's
    driver, and show me that code. Then I can translate that into a pool
    definition.

    Hi, anyone can help me?
    I created a specific Volume for Adobe software, and then installed CS3. But, the thing is that when I tried to run the updates, but seems impossible to adobe updater to see that I've installed CS3 on another volume. Can I fix this or I have to uninstall CS3 and then install again on the main volume?
    Thanks

    Ricardo,
    Don't create a special folder or volume. Don't move the folders. Don't rename the folders. Let Adobe install install its software at its defaults. If you must have the software in a different location, create and use aliases instead. Or put your Adobe apps in the Dock. That is the probably the most reliable way to install, update and manage Adobe apps.

  • Can not create or modify DHCP pool in UC560

    I can't create new or modify existing DHCP pool inside our UC560 by using CCA 3.2.3 version: Configurate->Routing->DHCP server.  I always get error "invalid DHCP pool range. The default gateway IP address 192.168.2.1 must be within the range of the address excluded from the DHCP pool."
    I check my DHCP exclude tab: I already have start IP: 192.168.2.1 and End IP 192.168.2.10.
    I would like to know solution to modify my current DHCP pool or I can add new DHCP pool by using CCA.  If I have to use CLI, please let me know how to do it.
    Thanks

  • Can I create connection pool by oracle oci driver?

    Can I create connection pool by oracle oci driver?My weblogic's version is 6.1 sp2 and oracle is 9.0.1.2.
    I have some trouble with connection pool created by weblogic jDriver.
    I try to read Timestamp from table and I always get the exception.It told me that ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes.
    So I created another pool by oracle thin driver and everything was right.Then I created other pool by oracle oci driver,but something were wrong. 'Could not create pool connection. The DBMS driver exception was:java.sql.SQLException: ORA-06401: NETCMN:Invalid driver designator'
    The oci pool's parameters are below lines.
    url: jdbc:oracle:oci:@COCO
    Driver Classname: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    Properties: user=scott;password=tiger;protocol=oci
    If I get connection directly,don't use connection pool,I can get right connection.But why didn't I create pool by oci driver?Maybe weblogic7 or weblogic8 will work good?

    create a conn pool using Oracle Oci.. Just the driverclass and url is enough
    or need any classpath settings etc..
    Thanks in advance for your quick reply.Hi. As far as driver properties, just use what Oracle says to. Any pool properties
    that we recommend for XA would still apply. Note that Oracle themselves recommends
    the thin driver over their OCI one:

  • Can't create fresh volume on internal drive for reinstall

    Daughter's MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) was initially believed to be damaged by corrupt Library files, particularly iTunes. A clean install would run fine until iTunes was introduced, leading to instability and finally no boot. But not the issue now (I have a good system and data backup, without iTunes, on an external drive.)
    The current problem started when, as part of the reinstall, I did an erase of the hard drive, not the volume.
    Now, from the Install DVD, can't create a volume on or format the internal drive.
    Using Linux Live CDs, I have been able to format a volume on the drive as FAT32. Verify suggests Repair on this, Repair failed.
    In detail:
    drive selected -- verify disk -- needs to be rpeaired
    drive selected -- repair disk -- can't repair this disk
    drive selected -- erase disk -- format as mac os ext journ, zero out -- erase failed, posix input/output error
    now startup with resetting PRM, able to create Mac HD volume, appears like success, but not there on reboot.
    Round and round endlessly.
    Any ideas on how to get this drive with a working, formatted volume, ready for a fresh install?

    I''m going to run through this again.
    Linc Davis, I did reset the PRAM/NVRAM but may not have waited for three chimes.
    When I erase an existing partition, am I not creating a new GUID partition table? If not, how do I do that?
    Also, I am concerned about -- A Mac OS X installation can be recovered on 'Mac HD'.
    I'll hope to not see that.
    Lets go.
    Command Option P R held down, four chimes
    Oops, Linux disk still in.
    How do I get this disk out without support for the eject key? Hold down the trackpad while powering up. That's good to know.
    Another PRAM/NVRAM reset. (I know.)
    Removing the three linux partiions. os3, os2, error on os1. Erased the second time of asking.
    Create new OS X partition, Mac HD.
    Erase that volume with writing zeros.
    This will take a while.

  • Can't lower voice memo volume. My decrease button doesn't work anymore. Any other way i can lower it without disabling speaker

    Own an iphone 5. Can't control voice memo volume from anywhere that deals with volume on my phone. My decrease button doesn't work. I have to listen to my voice memos on full blown volume. Can't lower it from settings or from music. Help please!

    Hi,
    thanks for your answer.
    The Size of all disks is: 6 x 4 TB.
    In the Pool are 5 x 4 TB plus 1 x Hot Spare.
    It comes up to about 14,6 TB of Data formatable.
    But tried it also with just 3 x 4 TB to see if it works.
    I just made a Raid5EE on the controller and then used Storage Spaces with simple, all worked fine.
    Here the results of my tests:
    1) your command had to be modified (typoe in usemaximumsize, and had to add -ResiliencySettingName Parity.
    new-virtualdisk -friendlyname testpsh -storagepoolfriendlyname test -ResiliencySettingName Parity -usemaximumsize
    But anyway, my problem is not creating the virtual disk, but formatting the partition if it's parity only.
    I added a screenshot:
    Here you see my storage pool, and I added 3 virtual disk.
    1 simple, 1 mirror, 1 parity. Only the parity cannot be formatted. The others can. No mather which size I do.
    About a testserver, I added 4 x 4 TB to a VM (VHDX-files) and could do parity without problems. So it seems it is this server specific.
    As it worked with another controller, I really wonder if the controller could break parity of Storage Pools?
    The other weird part is, it sais "Raid" as BUS, but it's set to pass through, in details I see the serial of the attached HDD.
    This is what properties shows on this volume. Always RAW.
    I also tried Software Raid5 within the server.
    This also worked fine. So really only parity.
    Thanks
    Patrick

  • Removing cluster node what happens to the created pools from thatnode

    Hi all,
    Reading through the documentation I stumble on:
    10.2 Considerations for Working with Shared NSS Pools and Volumes in
    the Cluster
    To create or modify volumes, home directories, Distributed File
    Services junctions, or any other elements that are managed using
    eDirectory objects, you must cluster migrate the pool resource back to
    the node where it was created before you perform those management tasks.
    What does this mean when I removed the node from the cluster? Can I no
    longer manage the resource??
    regards
    KB

    I have researched the issue with testing and have an update for you.
    There were at least three bugs filed in the past where this problem was reported:
    - Bug 77248 - Split/Move / NW65SP3 FCS / NCS - Vol Split only works when the target volume is on the original serv
    - Bug 413213 - after migrated NSS pool, getting error when creating volume on that pool
    - Bug 444644 - OES2 SP1 BUILD GMC3: Not able to create the user home directory on the cluster enabled volume
    What I have learned from working with testing is that the problem occurs only if the server, pool, volume, and cluster objects are in different contexts. The recommended configuration is that they be in the same context, which is why most admins never see the problem. If the objects are in different contexts, eDirectory might not be able to find the information needed to perform the operation and you get an eDirectory error. Whether or not you might run in to this issue depends on how you have set up a cluster and whether you attempt to modify or perform management actions on the pool or volume later that involve an eDirectory object in a different context.
    In light of this new information, I am updating the Novell Cluster Services Administration Guide with the following statement. This guide will be re-published the week of August 2, 2010.
    10.2 Considerations for Working with Shared NSS Pools and Volumes in the Cluster
    http://www.novell.com/documentation/...a/bffygy4.html
    The Server, Pool, Volume, Cluster Resource, and Cluster objects should all be all in the same context.
    If the objects are in different contexts, you might receive an eDirectory error when you attempt to modify the pool, create or modify the volumes, home directories, Distributed File Services junctions, or any other elements that are managed using eDirectory objects. To resolve the problem, you must cluster migrate the pool cluster resource back to the node where the pool was created in order to perform those management tasks.
