Can't create Rescue and Recover Disks

I  have Thinkpad T43 and when I try to make the disks via the IBM Access applications I get an error message that the files can't be found, but the IBM Preloaded is still there. Do I have to order the disks from Lenovo?

You can either buy the discs from someone (private or Lenovo) or backup you data and do a restore using the blue button or F11 at startup. After the restore (if you can do it) you will be able to make a set of recovery discs.

  • Creating Rescue and Recovery Disks for Vista

Started to create a set of Rescue Recovery Disks, the Start Recovery Disk created OK, but when I inserted the 1st Disk of the recovery set, the program stalled for over 1 hour no activity, cancelled the operation using the Vista Task Manager Ctrl-Alt-Del.
Now when I try and rerun Rescue and Recovery, it states I have already run the procedure, which is not so.  How can i now run the Rescue & Recovery Media Program

You can't. Assuming your machine is on warranty Lenovo support should ship recovery disks to you without charge,

  • R&R - need to re-create rescue and recovery disk

I created a rescue & recovery disk, foolishly, on an SD card, not knowing that my ThinkPad couldn't boot from an SD card. I bought a similar-sized USB drive and cloned it onto the USB drive but it still won't boot from the USB stick, something about incorrect partition table size or something. So I want to use the R&R program itself to create a recovery disk, correctly, onto a USB stick this time, but now I can't because the program says it will only let me make one! How can I fix this? I figure there's an entry in the registry I need to delete.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

What size is the recovery "disk"?  By that I mean how much data?  is it just the bootable R&R program or does it include the full recovery image?  If It's just a CD-worth of data, it's just the bootable part.
If you're convinced you have the full image, you should be able to delete the recovery image partition by opening Q: from within windows.  (Or right clicking, my memory fails me)  You should be offered the option of deleting Q: and adding the recovered space to C:.
This is one way to create media.  That option offers to first "burn" media and then delete Q: - if you haven't already made your media.
Call me old school, but I'd be more comfortable with a set of optical recovery media before deleting Q:

  • How can I create a start up disk for a old intel core duo running 10.5.8.. Computer works fine, but can't find install disk.

How can I create a start up disk for a old intel core duo running 10.5.8.. Computer works fine, but can't find install disk. Want to use internal disk drive or USD flash drive.

Try calling 1-800-676-2775.  Give the serial number and thy *may* still burn you new install disks designed just for the hrdware in your system (for a fee, something like $160 per disk).  *May* is only because they may not burn disks for Leopard anymore.
If they do not burn them for you, you can buy Leopard disks off Amazon or eBay for about $200.
Have you considered Snow Leopard?.  Those disks only cost $19 (single user) or $29 (5-user license) through Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE.

You can't. The iOS SDK requires Mac OS X and an Intel Mac; Windows applications can't be put on either the iOS or Mac OS X App Stores.

  • How can I uninstall Bootcamp and Recover the partition for the Mac HD

How can I uninstall Bootcamp and recover the partition for the IMac HD?

Boot into OSX.  Go back into the Bootcamp utility in the Utilities folder and re-run it.  It will give you the option to remove the Windows partition and make the OSX partition fill the whole drive again.  OSX will NOT be lost in the process.  No re-installing necessary.  Only takes a few minutes or less to complete.

    Several possible reasons.
Start by describing exactly what you did, including user ids (or at least desctriptions of them) and the permission that those user ids have.
And don't forget to detail which 'Windows 2003'. There are, as far as I know, several flavours of that product and there may be patches.

  • How can i create Header and items in SMART FORM

    Hi Experts,
How can i create Header and items in SMART FORM in the below driver program.
    _Header fields_
SELECT BUKRS BUDAT GJAHR CPUDT USNAM BLART BELNR XBLNR BLDAT WAERS KURSF
FROM BKPF INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE IT_HEAD WHERE BELNR IN S_BELNR AND BUDAT IN S_BUDAT AND GJAHR EQ S_GJAHR AND BUKRS EQ S_BUKRS AND CPUDT IN S_CPUDT AND USNAM IN S_USNAM.
    Item firlds
SELECT BUZEI BSCHL SGTXT SHKZG KOSTL PRCTR WERKS WRBTR HKONT KUNNR ZFBDT FROM BSEG INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE IT_ITEM
      FOR ALL ENTRIES IN  IT_HEAD WHERE BELNR = IT_HEAD-BELNR AND GJAHR = IT_HEAD-GJAHR AND BUKRS = IT_HEAD-BUKRS.
      LOOP AT IT_HEAD.
    MOVE-CORRESPONDING IT_HEAD TO FINAL.
        LOOP AT IT_ITEM
        WHERE BELNR = IT_HEAD-BELNR.
          MOVE-CORRESPONDING IT_ITEM TO FINAL.
    ENDLOOP.
    ENDLOOP.
    Regards,
    Sreedhar.

for these internal tables you can pass some Identifier  for both tables.
    in header file : IT_HEAD
    IDENT   type  char10,
    BUKRS type BUKRS,
    BUDAT type BUDAT,  like
    in header file :IT_ITEM
    IDENT   type  char10,
    BUZEI type BUZEI,
BSCHL type BSCHL,  like  in item data
you need to fille the  IDENT value like
    IT_HEAD:
    10 -- DE01-- 10.20.2009
    20 -- CH01-- 10.20.2009
    IT_ITEM
10 -- 1234-- KSCHL value  like all records
10 -- 2345-- KSCHL value  like all records
10 -- 6783-- KSCHL value  like all records
    20 -- 3452-- 1KSCHL value  like all records
20 -- 4532-- KSCHL value  like all records
20 -- 4535-- KSCHL value  like all records
in smartform you need to create 2 tables.
    or create
    LOOP  with IT_HEAD
    table with IT_HEAD
    table with IT_ITEM
and put the condition for each table in  DATA tab where condtion  like IDENT = IT_HEAD-IDENT
in item table also INDENT = IT_ITEM-INDENT..

  • How can I create a Lion recovery disk when the original machine is down?

Any rapid help with this would be very appreciated - I have university work I need to complete tomorrow.
Machine is a 13" MacBook Pro with Bootcamp and windows 7 installed but the problem is on the Mac partition
    sequence of events:-
I was using MS Word for Mac when it crashed as being unable to write to the disk.
I went to utilities and ran a verify permissions - failures were found - one marked as not repairable
I ran repair permissions - it repaired all but one
I ran verify disk - it said it there was an error which could not be repaired - reformat the drive a restore from backup
I have full time machine backup so thought no problem
I shut down the machine and restarted using  Cmd R and went to disk utilities - no "format disk" option.
Browse on internet finds I have to delete the "Macintosh HD"  partition - re- create it and restore - ok
Find I cannot delete the partition because it cannot unmount the drive - because I have booted from the recovery partition which is on that drive - catch 22
Try to boot from original Snow Leopard disk - LION wont let you do it
Read some more on Internet and find I can boot from the Lion Revovery HD on a USB
Only way of getting it is to download it or create it using the machine I want to recover - but that machine won't boot in OS X ?...
Tried the Lion Internet install but it simply fails with an " error occurred please try again.
So can anyone tell me how I can get a recovery USB written in order to externally boot my Mac and recover it ??
    I have available:-
    Wifi
    USB drives
Time machine backup on external USB drive
    IPad
    windows available on the MacBook
Any help please - I am really desperate
    thanks

If you need to reinstall from scratch:
Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Can't get Rescue and Recovery to Start

    Hey all,
My computer is having hardware problems. I'm at the point of giving up completely on the computer, but I had a few files that I wanted to recover from it first. I've had Hard Drive issues before and usually just have to push the blue Thinkvantage button and rescue and recovery comes up.
However, this time I can't get it to start. I just go to a screen that says "Startup Interrupt Menu" and lists three options, resume normal startup, enter BIOS, and choose a temporary startup device. I can't even get to rescue and recovery if I press F11.
    Any ideas?
    I'm running Windows 7, the computer is a T61 that's a little over 3 years old.

I'm having the same problem as crimesofparis.  My machine is just out of warranty.  It came with XP Pro when I first received it.  A while back, I received a copy of Win 7 32-bit from Lenovo.  I installed it and everything has been fine.  I recently purchased a new Thinkpad Edge and want to sell my T61.  The new owner would like the XP  back on it. I thought I would just run the R&R by pushing the blue Thinkvantage button, but when I do  I'm getting the same thing,
"Startup Interrupt Menu" and lists three options, resume normal startup, enter BIOS, and choose a temporary startup device. I can't even get to rescue and recovery if I press F11.  Apparently something changed when the W7 was installed, but Lenovo did not make me aware that the restore using Thinkvantage would stop working.  There must another way to get to the restore partition (which appears to be intact) and restore from it.  I also can not find my restore disks.
    Lenovo, can you help?
    Thanks

  • My W500 can not install Rescue and Recovery

    Hi guys,
Has anyone encountered the same problem as I did when I tried to install Rescue and Recovery?
The process always stopped with error code 6.
    I am using Win7 X64.
    W500 T9900 8GB + TBs imageries

I was also having the exact same problem on my W500, but I did not have to download the full multilingual package to get it to work.  First I reinstalled windows, and used the "clean all" command before the install.
At the first setup screen during the Windows 7 install hold Shift+F10 - this will bring up the command prompt.  Type in "diskpart" then type "list disk"  then type "select disk 0" This number may be different depending on how many drives your machine has in.  It will then tell you "disk 0 is now the selected disk"  After this type "clean all".  You will see just a flashing cursor in the command window to tell you it is running.  This will take some time, and   WARNING:it will fully erase -write zeroes- to the entire drive.  Your data will be unrecoverable, and ALL PARTITIONS will be deleted.  Once it's finised it will give you a message saying Diskpart succeded in cleaing the disk.  Now the important part, type in "select disk 0" once again, then type "create partition primary"  This will prevent Windows from automaticaly created the 100MB partition on the drive durring the install.  After that type 'exit' and 'exit' again, and you can continue the setup as normal.
Once Windows is up you need to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008  from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=ba9257ca-337f-4b40-8c14-157cfdffee4e&dis...
Once that is installed, restart and it should let you install Rescue and Recovery.
This worked perfectly for me, even though it is a little more complicated.

  • Can't create a Tiger startup disk on an external drive

After backing up the applications and data files to DVD’s I installed Leopard on my Power Book PPC G4. Everything went without a hitch. Now I would like to create a Tiger startup disk on a USB drive. When I try to format the USB drive with the OS 10.4 disk that came with the laptop I get a message that says “Unable to find system 10.3 or later” just prior to the step that lets you pick the drive you wish to format. I would like to be able to startup in system 10.4 so I can run an older version of 4th Dimension in the Classic mode. Is there a way to accomplish this now that I have already successfully installed Leopard?

I quickly scanned your profile before posting the link to that KB article, and could have sworn that I saw an Intel-based Mac there... In any case, many people have successfully booted OS X from USB drives on PPC Macs. It's certainly not as good or reliable as using a FireWire drive, but you can read various reports about it here and by Googling something like +PPC Mac boot USB+. You'll come up with a lot of information, so I don't understand other posters denying it can be done...
    Good luck.

  • Can't install Rescue and Recovery on T410

Hi, I recently bought a reconditioned Lenovo T410 and have pretty limited technical knowledge, so I took the helpful advice of another member on the forum to perform certain actions to get myself set up. One of these was to create factory recovery discs using Rescue and Recovery. As this wasn't already installed on the machine, I have downloaded it (tvtvrnr4.52_005en.exe) but it won't install. I am getting the message 'Error 25014 There was an error installing the Rescue and Recovery boot manager. Return code: 6'. Any ideas about how to resolve it or an alternative way or creating recovery discs?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The only chance to perform factory recovery is if you have Lenovo_Recovery partition with several .wim files on that. But it seems they are absent. So contact with Lenovo support in your country and purchase recovery disks.
