Can't crop arbitrary selected pages in combined PDF?

I'm getting weird behavior or seeing a bug when I try to crop selected pages in Acrobat XI.
Steps:
1. Click Create->Combine Files into a Single PDF
2. Add files and combine them as usual
3. Click on the Page Thumbnails view on the left
4. Control-click on a non-contiguous selection of thumbnails
5. Right-click and select Crop Pages. Fill in all the details and click OK.
Expected: Only the highlighted files are cropped.
Actual: All pages between the first selected page and the last selected page are cropped, even if they weren't selected. Pages before the first selected page and after the last selected page are not cropped.
Is there a way to override this behavior so only the selected pages are cropped? In the crop dialog, I can select all pages or a contiguous range (with the even and/or odd options), but no option for just "selection" like the rotate pages option has.
Thanks.
Chris

I should say that the crop pages function was never written to work with noncontinuous pages ... similar to other things like Extract Pages (at least in Acrobat X) which doesn't either, useful as it would be.

I can only print the current page of downloaded pdf's.  Not able to print "all".  I'm using a Macbook air.

it says "the document could not be printed".  "There were no ages selected to print".
I selected "all".  I always tried selecting pages "1-3".
The only choice that works is current page.  Very strange.

  • Printing selected pages of a PDF to Adobe PDF

I have Acrobat 9, Windows 7, and was happily creating new files from existing PDFs by printing selected pages to Adobe PDF. After having done this a hundred times or so, the process stopped working. I got this message: "When you create a PostScript file you must rely on system fonts and use document fonts. Please go to the printer properties, 'Adobe PDF Settings' page and turn OFF the option 'Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts.'" Then I get a message, "The document could not be printed." Then I get a message, "There were no pages selected to print."
First, I wasn't having any problems up to this point; second, I'm not trying to create a postscript file, I'm just trying to print to Adobe PDF (as in, just page 3 of a six-page document."
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

I downloaded the Arcobat SDK and now learning to use it with its sample.
However, I got stuck when I run the program BasicIacVB.
I got the following error message:
    Cannot create ActiveX component.
    When running the line
    gApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
I run this program on my PC with VS2005 installed.
What extra step do I need to do to use the sdk?
Seems there's no installation package there...
Sorry about my stupid question, I am a total newbie in AcrobatSDK.
P.S.  My ultimate goal is to develop the program in VB6 (not using VB2005),
as my client PCs does not (and cannot for some reason) install .net framework.

  • How can I get a monthly subscription for combining PDF files

How can I get a monthly subscription for combining PDF files. I have been able to subscribe in the past, but now all I see is annual subscription. I do not need an annual subscription because I do not use it often enough.

    Hi paige1186,
The Adobe PDF Pack subscription, which allows you to combine PDF, is only available at an annual rate of $89.99. We do offer month-to-month subscriptions of Acrobat Pro and Standard, but I think you'd actually come out ahead with the annual PDF Pack subscription, if you planned on combining files more than 3-4 times throughout the year.

  • Can I save selected pages from a PDF into another PDF

    In other words:
I have a Pdf with 100 pages and I only want to save 10 pages.
they are continuous i.e. pages 15-28
I have Adobe XI version 11.0.07
    Thanks

    Hi greg14,
For starters, you will need Acrobat to extract pages from a PDF. (It's not something that you can do with the ExportPDF service.) If you don't have Acrobat, you can download a free 30-day trial from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.
Then, to extract pages, you would follow these steps:
Click on the Tools panel on the right side of the Acrobat window.
Click Pages to expand that category.
    Click Extract.
Enter the page range that you want to extract in the From: and To: text boxes.
Click OK. Your pages are extracted into a new file.
Choose File > Save As to save the new file.
I hope that does the trick!
Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • I am unable to print PDF's using either Adobe Reader or Safari. In Adobe Reader, I get an error message from my Cannon printer that says, "/usr.libexec/cups/filter/pstocupsraster failed". In Safari, I can only print the first page of a PDF.

To try to resolve this problem, I have done the following actions.
    1 - I have run Disk Warrior.
    2 - I have repaired permissions.
3 - I have deleted all plist that are either Cannon or Adobe.
4 - I have downloaded and installed the lastest versions of Adobe Reader and the Cannon printer drivers.
I am still unable to print PDF's.
In Safari, I can print only the first page. In a multipage PDF, Safari only seems to recognize the first page.
In Adobe Reader, I get an error message from my printer: "/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstocupsraster failed".
Any help would be greatly appreicated!

    Quit Safari.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:
☞ If running OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.
☞ If running an older version of OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and copy the line below into the text box that opens:
    ~/Library
Delete the following items from the Library folder:
    Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
    Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
    Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
    Relaunch Safari and test.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "/var/log/cups/error_log" from the file list. Post the messages from the time of the last printing attempt.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.

  • Size of pages in combined pdf files

How can I keep the combined pdf files from changing sizes in the newly created pdf. If the combining tool doesn't allow me to save the original pdf file size, it's of very little use to me. Can someone help me ?

You are saying that the PDF pages change size when combined? Ok, what were the sizes before and after? You can check the exact size by holding the mouse at the extreme bottom left of the page until the size appears.

  • How can I print an odd page in a pdf with 2 page each pdf page?

I hope tou can help me. We´ve created a pdf from a book.
In each page of the pdf we´ve put two pages of the book.
    Our problem is:
if  I want to print or search a even page. I´ve just go to the search box and write the number of the page I want to go. And the pdf take me to correct number in the book. I Attached a screenshot (screenshot 1). So I look for the page number 6 and I go to the page 6 in the book (that it´s 4 of 22 in the pdf document)
But  if I try to search or print an odd page, the problem is that the pdf doesn´t take me to the correct page in the book it takes me to number in pdf document. I attached an screenshot (screenshot 2) So If I look for the page 9 it tooks me to the page 16 of the book (that is 9 of 22 in the pdf document)
I´d like that if i try to search or print any page number (even or odd) . If I use the white box I´ll be able to finde the correct page
    Thank you very much

The parent subform must be set to Flowed. Make sure each page (subform) is set to Pagination>Following Previous.

  • Can I re-size the pages in a PDF document?

I've got a document done in Mac Pages. It turns out to be the wrong page size. It would be a lot of work to reposition everything again.
Is there any way with Acrobat Pro that I can resize the PDF pages in a PDF document?
I notice I can extract the individual pages ... if I could extract them and somehow import them back into a re-sized Pages document, then re-export them to PDF at the proper size???
Any help would be most appreciated,
    Thank you,
    Ben

    Hi Aandi,
No problem with 'hard' copy or 'web' copy. I understand about compression.
But. Either way I've got the same problem with both versions. I did the original with the document page size set at 'legal' size, as was recommended by a particular print house we were going to use.
Here is the actual concept: www.howtosolveglobalwarming.info (see 'DVD' page link).
It turns out this was not a helpful recommendation. The 'booklet' is supposed to fit into a DVD case, which is about 7.25 inches in length (height).
I don't want to have to rebuild the original document page by page. I just want to resize the entire thing down from its original 'legal' size (8,5 X 14) to something more like 4.04 X 7.25.
The only way I can figure to do it with Acrobat is reset the page size, then output to 'print', but then I can't make a straight PDF, I have to make a Postscript (it seems) file, which I then have to convert back to a PDF ... (and I notice some odd artifact frames appearing around text-supered-over-graphics- which might disappear if I 'flatten' the original PDF file before outputting to Postcript and converting back to PDF??
I bet there is a simpler way. Any suggestions? Also, is there any function in Adobe Acrobat Pro that would allow me to add 'space' to one side of a page (as in Photoshop)?
Or perhaps I should extract each of the 30 pages, resize them in Photoshop, and then reconstruct the document in Pages (or Acrobat) using the Photoshopped pages?

  • Printing selected page as a pdf in adobe reader

    Hi,
I have Adobe Reader for the Mac. I'm dealing with pdf documents that are hundreds of pages. If I wanted to save a single page (or several pages), it seems I have to go through an extra step:
    1) print
    2) then select printer
    3) then get warning window telling me to go to applications dialogue box
    4) click ok, go to box
    5) select page range in applications printer box.
that's a lot of steps. Preview does this in one step (but has other problems). Is there a way of selecting pages and going directly to save as pdf. I know there's no extract page feature like there is in Acrobat.
    thanks for any help,
    jeff

Not in the free Reader, no.

  • Looking for Javascript to replace 'selected' pages in a pdf?

    Hi
I've searched the web looking for a solution to a time consuming issue without luck. I have multi-page, print ready pdfs - but have to make corrections to a number of 'random' pages in InDesign. I have to replace only the random corrected pages in the standing pdf.
An ideal solution would be a script that could launch an interface allowing input of the corrected page numbers eg: 3,5,14,56,92,146, together with a facility to select the corrected file/or files to replace pages, page number for page number in the print ready pdf. Does anyone know of a solution or possible starting point?
