Can't customise External Application (WWC 41610)

hi,
I am using Oracle Portal 3.0.9.
I have a problem which I can't customise my External Application
portlet.
The error msg is "Error: The list of External Applications is
too large. (WWC-41610)"
However, I can configure the external applications in Login
Server. It only has 2 applications.
Any idea??
Another question: I accidentally delete the left region of the
homepage. Is it possible for me to create a new region on the
left instead of on the right?

Thanks. No error if I clear the proxy server.
However, I wonder what's wrong with the setting of the proxy
server.
The setting is as below:
HTTP Server: xxx.xxx.xxx.x
HTTP Server Port : xxxx
No Proxy Servers for Domains beginning with: (null)
URL Connection Time-Out (seconds): 30

How can I execute external application?

Hi friends I want printing my barcodes a laser printer (Kyocera) it isn't a barcode printer. So I think (and I look kyocera web page my model doesn't support barcode printing in sap) print my barcodes using an external system. Before SAP we are using JollyPrint application for printing barcodes. It is using an Excel file.
I can create a excel file for this application. I must execute this (JollyPrint-it is a label application) application when I press a button. How can I execute this application?

Well, I can suggest you following steps. May be it works for you .
-Create an external OS command in SM69
-Test OS command in SM49 ( about OS command if you search in SDN youll get lot of material )
-Create a Script at your OS level, Im assuming you might have some UNIX flavor or Sun solarias.
-Create a Shell script , which execute the printer job from OS .
-Shell script will have parameters . ( e.g. printer name, destination etc )
-set the path of shell script directory in SM69 ( the command you just created )
-Execute shell script using your ABAP program ( use FM "SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE" )
In the ABAP program you can pass the parameters and execute the command from ABAP as a result your job will start printing on the required destination. Moreover, you can also capture the spool at OS level .
FYI
For UNIX script, if you search in www.google.com ( UNIX forums) . youll get shell script .

Can you Launch External Applications From Within InDesign Ebook?

Hi all,
I was wondering if it is possible to open an external application from within an ebook (created with InDesign) e.g. click on a link and have an external ssh client open up for instance?

It's possible to include hyperlinks in an InDesign file and export them in an EPUB file. Since I'm not familiar with working with SSH clients (in fact, I just had to Google it to have a clue what you're talking about), is this something that can be invoked in a standard URL format? If so, you could probably include it.
The next issue is whether the link would work. The link couldn't be used directly in any eBook reader I know of, but at least the iBook on an iPad or iPhone would switch to to Safari to let you follow a URL to its destination. But I don't think that's possible on most eBooks.

Can't get External Application Debugging to work to debug PL/SQL.

I can debug PL/SQL directly. I wish to debug ASP.NET applications using IIS. To debug my application I must attach to aspnet_wp.exe and fire up IE or firefox.. I have tried to set ORA_DEBUG_JDWP just before the call to the PL/SQL SP, but the debugger doesn't stop at the PL/SQL break point--I have set a break point just before the PL/SQL call and then enable 'Start Oracle External Application Debugger" and enter the port number that I set in ORA_DEBUG_JDWP. I believe that ORA_DEBUG_JDWP must be set before an Oracle connection is established. If I do that it interferes with my firefox or IE browser that I need to get to the point of the PL/SQL call--there are many postbacks that are encountered through the course of getting to the point where the PL/SQL call (i.e. logging in, navigating through the menu and then entering values to trigger the call). Has anyone gotten ODT to work in this configured environment? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, I have gone through the article step by step many times. The crux of my problem I believe is that I am to "3) Add code to your ASP.NET app to set the environment variable at the process level. I must access the Oracle database for various logon information before I get to the PL/SQL SP that I want to debug. On the first Oracle database access I get the following Oracle error because I have already set the ORA_DEBUG_JDWP variable so any connection to Oracle is trying to access the debugger (That's what I conclude anyway)..
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges\nORA-06512: at \"SYS.DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP\", line 68\nORA-06512: at \"SYS.DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP_CUSTOM\", line 59\nORA-06512: at line 1\n"

How can i run external application without specifying the full path?

for example, ms word executable file is winword.exe, but in java i am using the following command:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("\"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office10\\winword.exe\");
the thing is, i dont know where ms word is installed on every machine, so rather than making an assumption, do you know how i can run ms word without specifying the full path?

Thanks for your quick response. I have gone through the document which you suggested. the document says to register through sooreg.sh script. I would like to register partner application using SSO Administration UI.
When I log in to OSSO server, I have a option of registering the partner application, there in UI I have to specify, Home URL, Success URL and Logout URL.
For me, my sso server and my application server resides on the different servers (systems). Please let me know which URLs I shoudl specify to register my partner application using UI.
I mean, I want to know what should I specify in Home URL, Success URL and Logout URL

SSO for External application not part of the portal framework

I am desperate!!!
I am trying to do the following:
I have a pl/sql application that presents to the user a set of external applications links.When the user activates a link, I would like to make a call the SSO server so it can do external application login.
I know I can configure the external applications as described in the SSO admin guide.
Unfortunately the API to query the SSO server for external application mapping is not public.
ANY IDEAS ON WHERE I CAN GET THIS INFO??
Every thing I have read says that external applications can be accessed through Portal. This is not my case. I can use any packages or classes available by the SSO server to portal, but MY APPLICATION IS NOT A PORTAL.

I have similar kind of requirements for Single sign-on to external web applications.
But in my applications I have to auto-generate random userid & password for different external web applications.
These uids & password are exported to external applications, which upon recieving creates user in their applications.
So, actual user will never have access to these credentials(uid &pwd).
So, how can I cutomize the Portlets to do the first time SSO when user is created & their credentials to external apps are stored to OID.

Calling External Application from BPM 11g

I am new to BPM 11g and need to create the ability to call an external application (UCM) from within BPM. Will a web service adapter, with a type of Reference, accomplish this? How can I add security to this web service.
The second question is how can I add an adapter that alllows me to specify our own source code? In this scenario we would write the Java to formulate the SOAP call directly, thus allowing us to add the security into the call directly.
Any information is much appreciated.

SAP did a lot in Terma of integration of programs running on the frontend. They have some intefaces with SAP office; I'm not too familar with them.

This is not the latest version because SAP does not provide the new documentation in the form of print files, but it is good.

When trying to setup my external hard drive, I get this box that pops up and says this:
You can’t open the application “LaCie Setup Assistant” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

PowerPC was a type of processor used in Mac systems before Apple switched to Intel-based processors. These older chips required applications to be coded differently, to the extent that they will not run on the Intel processors in newer Macs. Apple used to include a translator that allowed these programs to at least run, but this translator is no longer available so if you run into an older PowerPC-based program then OS X will give you this error.

Go into Time Machine (the program not the bundle on the extrnal disk) and using Time Machine's browser go to the Folder where the library lives. You could look in the library bundle in Time Machine but that won't really tell you much,
If you want to make sure it truely has backed up your library you will need to restore it and open the restored library with Aperture.
If all this still has you confused you need to read up on Time Machine in order to get a feel for how it works, for what it is doing and for how to restore files from it.

How can I create a shortcut to launch an external application?

Hello, I'm developing app in Swing where I want to create a shortcut for any external application, I'm able to get the .exe path, and an icon path (in .png format), is there a way to create a "shortcut" or button and assign the icon and the .exe path to run it? This is what I have to get the .exe path:
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("\"" + jTextField2.getText() + "\"");
Where jTextField takes the value from a JFileChooser value, doing the same for the icon, then I could do this for a button to assign the icon:

jButton7.setIcon(img1);
But I havent' found any way to make the button (or any kind of shortcut) to execute the program, I could go and create a method to do it on click or ActionPerformed, but the idea is to do all this when I finish the create the shortcut, I hope you can understand me, I'm kinda confused, so far, I can launch the app but I want to create a new button/shortcut everytime I need to add an external app, thanks in advanced!!!

How can I change the default program for the external applications editor?

I have read the on line directions for this and it reads "select a file type in the left pane." I do not see where this is in the left pane. All I see in the left pane is "Browser start pages" and a "How do I " Pane. Nothing with file types.

Welcome to Adobe Forums.
In order to change the default program for the external applications editor. Please follow the steps as mentioned below.
Click on Edit menu then choose preferences.
Once the preferences dialog box open.
click on file editors.
On the Left pane you will find all the file types which you want to edit .
On the right hand side you will find the editors for that specific file type.
If you want to add any other application you need to click on + symbol at the top of right pane.
Select the path of that application which you want to apply.
clcik on open.
If you want to make it primay you can click make primary option available at the right hand top. For more detials please check the screenshot below.

Can I execute a external application inside a channel or a tab in portal ..
For example assume i have the calendar application .. Is it possible to have a calendar tab ( I have a calendar channel included into the jsptabcontainer) ..and on clicking the tab ..is it possible to make the calendar application work inside the container..

Where can I read more on IFRAME provider and channel? Do I need to write one myself? Also could you please suggest where to find info on displaying static html pages. I was able to create tabs and to display html documents but the links to other documents do not work.

Sure it is possible...
- The easiest way is to create an IFrame channel
and proxy your application using this channel.
Make sure this channel is full_top in your tab,
set IFrame to 100% and you are all set!
(PS: Make sure this will work with gateway
if you have SRAP)
- More challenging would be a "smart proxy channel",
which will scrapes your application and proxy the
actions to your web application.
