Can't Deinstall 10G

I can't deinstall 10G from WIN 2000. Checking the Oracle Home results in nothing happening.
I managed to deinstall some individual components, but others just hang or I get a "Service can't be stopped, overlapping I/O" dialog.

First of all, use the Oracle Universal Installer to uninstall. You almost have to select a level or two down to verify that everything in your OraHome10 or whatever you called your home is selected. Make sure you actually have check-marks in all the open boxes by everything.
Secondly, go into your services and verify that you no longer have any Oracle 10g services existing or running. If you still see some, stop them. I would then try uninstalling again via the Uninstaller.
If that does not remove the services, you can go into your registry and look inside the "ORACLE" services folder in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->ORACLE folder. Look inside ALL_HOMES and delete any reference to 10g. If you have a "KEY_OraDb10g_home1" folder or something similar in there, delete it. This is tricky business, so if you have any previous versions of Oracle, they will be in here in different HOMES but will also be listed under ALL_HOMES, so make sure you only delete 10g-related items if you have a previous verson of Oracle. If you only have 10g installed, then you can pretty much delete the whole dang ORACLE folder in there--but try to uninstall first so this doesn't impede a safe uninstall, right?
Once you have deleted any trace of Oracle 10g, I recommend going to Windows Explorer and finding your C:\Oracle folder and deleting the 10G product folder manually. This is what I had to do.
Also, make sure you don't have an unzipped version of 10g residing in your DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS or TEMP folder which could still be referenced by Oracle. Do a search for the word ORACLE on your hard drive. Then re-boot and that should be that.

It is up to you, since it is a full install. However some keep the other version for awhile in case there are any bugs. But if you are cramped for space, there is no reason why you can not reinstall later on if you do find a bug.
Keep in mind that uninstalling could change your file associations, so be prepared to fix them manually or reinstall 2014 to fix it.

I installed cs6. now can i deinstall cs5?

I installed CS6 (not trial version). Can I deinstall CS5? I'm afraid I will lose my credentials, or also might remove some shared files. What about Camera Raw? I'm afraid ACR might be deinstalled. Speaking of ACR, I see no way of determining which version of ACR is running. When I'm in Bridge CS6 and open ACR, how do i know it's the new version?

I deinstalled CS5 and only had one slight problem. PSD files then default on opening to QuickTime viewer. A dialogue may come up when you attempt to open a PSD file from Bridge after the deinstall of CS5 that some default has changed for QuickTime and do you want to restore default or something like that. No other info, so I responded yes and perhaps should have said no. The PSD files then open in QuickTime! Easy to fix. Go into Windows Explorer, right-mouse on a PSD file and set default to PS6.
Also, I deinstall programs through a wonderful deinstall program as Windows deinstall is very bad about leaving garbage behind. This deinstaller always first checks if the application to be deinstalled has it's own deinstaller and if it does, uses it, so it used the Adobe deinstaller. When done with a deinstall, it offers to clean up the mess often left by deinstallersregistry, and files and shortcuts and other garbage. In the case of CS5 it thankfully gave me a warning that CS5 and CS6 were installed in the same directory and to be careful of cleaning up any further. This deinstaller then shows all the items left behind and there was a TON of itemscomplicated names--far too much stuff. I thought it best to leave them alone. PS6 and Bridge work fine after the deinstall and leaving all those other things alone, but my whole point is that I have 30+ years of IT experience and think Adobe is playing a very dangerous game by installing new versions of their software in the same folder as the older version. It's not the right thing to do from an architectural perspective, nor a safe thing to do, and could cause customers real headaches Let this warning go out to anyone deinstalling previous version. By the way, I use Revo uninstaller, which, by the way, also creates a restore point BEFORE doing any deinstall so a customer could completely in-do a deinstall if problems.

Can the SFP-10G-SR down-support connect to SFP 1000BASE-SX ?

today i use the SFP+ "SFP-10G-SR" in Cisco Catalyst 2960S-48TD-L connect to 1000BASE-SX SFP in 6509's module WS-X6724-SFP.
the port setting is trunk,but they don't work, even the led don't flush. then i also use the 1000BASE-SX SFP to replace SFP+ SFP-10G-SR in
2960S-48TD-L, then they cany working.
i look up the cisco data sheet , there are no data sheet to satament the 10G sfp+ can't down support 1G sfp. so i want to confirm the problem.
otherwise, the 10 SFP+ only can use for 10G SFP+ ; can't down suport 1G SFP.
this means: if you want to use the 10G SFP+ the other old device also need to replace.

I found this conversation today, as I am looking for answer on question similar to question that Jerry asked, while opening this discussion.
So, my problem is the following. At some location, I need two 10GB and one 1GB connection over optical cables. To minimize costs, I tried with WS-C2960X-48FPD-L, but as it contain only two SFP+ ports, I tried with two WS-C2960X-24PD-L that will be connected with stack modules.
So, having two WS-C2960X-24PD-L, I can have 2 x 2 1GB SFP+ ports. There are two opened questions:
1. Can I put 1GB SFP transceiver module in SFP+ port (as I must have one 1GB connection to remote site)?
2. Can I use stack of two mentioned 2960 24-port switches, in a way that I use one of them for two 10GB connections (using SFP+ ports for 10GB connection), and second member of the stack in a way that one (of two available) SFP+ port is used for 1GB SFP connection (using SFP+ port as mentioned in question 1)?
I am not sure if your previous statement covers my questions, as it is not clear if 1GB SFP transceiver can be inserted in SFP+ port on WS-C2960X-24PD-L (or any other switch that has SFP+ port).

Can't deinstall Quicktime. Itunes won't work anymore..

I'm having problems with my itunes / quicktime. It all started off when I wanted to open Itunes and I got a message that I need to update quicktime 6.5.2 to 7.1 or higher. Then I tried reinstalling Itunes hoping it would put the new quicktime on. Didnt work.. so I tried installing only quicktime.. and now - Itunes won't work (if I click the Icon it just does nothing).. reinstalling or deinstalling and then reinstalling doesn't help.. AND I can't deinstall quicktime. I always get a fatal error at the end of the deinstallation process..
Can someone help me? I would really like to update my Ipod..

although there's always a burst of reports of Codec Pack issues when the minimum version of QT required for an itunes version goes up, we've had a decided uptick in reports of problems that turned out to be related to them this time.
the combined symptom set that i always check for Codec Pack issues with is:
"itunes has encountered a problem" error message when launching itunes.
error-message-free QuickTime launch failure.
QuickTime won't uninstall from Add/Remove Programs.
just this weekend, i managed to confirm it's worth checking for a Codec Pack issue if people get the following message (or the English equivalent) when trying to open their QT control panel:

No, you can't use 10g datapump utility "expdp" to export an 8i database objects.
The legal values for the VERSION parameter are as follows:
COMPATIBLE - This is the default value. The version of the metadata corresponds to the database compatibility level. Database compatibility must be set to 9.2 or higher.
LATEST - The version of the metadata corresponds to the database version.
version_string - A specific database version (for example, 10.0.0). In Oracle Database 10g, this value cannot be lower than 9.2.
Database objects or attributes that are incompatible with the specified version will not be exported. For example, tables containing new datatypes that are not supported in the specified version will not be exported.

Deinstalling 10g 1 and installing 10g 2

Windows 2000 SP4
I deinstalled 10g version 1 and installed 10g 2, but I did not see the database I had created using version 1. I uninstalled 10g 2 and reinstalled 10g 1 but no dice.
The database files, control files, directories and data all seem to be there. I tried the utilities to upgrade but they do not "see" the database. The services for the instance are not there anymore.
How do I get my instance and database back?

Can't uninstall 10g

Seems like I messed it up pretty good, I'm currently in an PL/SQL class, and had 10g installed from last terms class. The instructor had us uninstall 10g, to prepare for installing 11g. This went off without a hitch. But when I got home and tried to install 11g on my Win7x64, I was not able to get it to start up. I went online and read about issues with running the 32bit program on a 64bit system.
So, not thinking all too much I decided to restore my computer to before I uninstalled 10g. Now 10g does not work. So I uninstall 10g... but its still there, no links in the program list work, but I see it in the control panel.Clicking uninstall does nothing, and 11g will not install because I already have the oracle service running since I still have parts of 10g.
I have a temporary fix, about to install the virtual box, and try a small Linux OS like Puppy Linux and install 11g on that.
But would anyone happen to know a permanent fix, or remove everything so its not wasted space on my drive?
ANY help would be appreciated!
Oh, and after I uninstalled 10g the first time, i used CCleaner, both the normal cleaner and the Registry cleaner. I still have the save reg save file from before i deleted like 138 entries. I can try that but I don't want to waste any more days trying to figure it out myself when I need to be catching up in class and there may be a pro who can help faster. Thank you in advance

Try the manual 10g deinstall steps, environment variables and registry cleanups, etc. at Oracle&reg; Database Express Edition
The URL to the Windows Installer cleanup utility is nearly a dead link, not quite sure if the "new" utilities do the job or not. The 10g version is a bit long in the tooth, its been quite a while since patches were made unavailable for 10g from oracle.
A VM with linux is a great way to go, I'd suggest fedora, see: Fedora Project - Get Fedora: Desktops, Other Formats, Spins, Cloud Images, ARM or Secondary Arches. if you're at all familiar with the RedHat OS. A new Fedora comes out once or twice a year- but getting your feet wet on a unix-like OS going that route will be less expensive than buying a mac and there are some changes to Ubuntu making it something of a challenge to get the 11g XE linux installer to do a successful install.
Personally, I like Virtual Box, https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads for me it works easier than one of the other VM setups that offer trial or "free" versions. The VirtBox install will pop your NIC adapters, several times, and the "certified Windows" gripes are annoying too.
Have not yet tried XE on Fedora 20 at or even 19 yet, so many other priorities needing attention. All Fedoras I've done an XE install on worked fine. One item that will help, especially if memory is tight, shrink the main OS partition by a few MiB and increase the swap partition to at least 2GiB to dodge an XE preinstall check hurdle. Installing to a 10GiB disk for the VM is enough to get XE up and running, although there won't be much room to spare for data growth.
And if you're more Windows than *nix experienced, try the KDE Live version. A Live release is about a CD-size download, easier than DVD (few options) and KDE won't be *quite* as much the OS change you'd see with a default Gnome desktop. Be sure to get the X64 version, and set the guest to X64 architecture as well.

Can't reinstall 10g XE in Windows 7

I tried to reinstall Oracle Database 10 XE on windows 7 but while installing, it gives this error message and stops

Sorry I'm giving you a big headache but the 10g XE Universal package can’t be installed on my PC and the reason i think it is because of the Path Environment.
I went to this site and worked step by step to manually uninstall the Oracle XE from my PC but the problem still exists.
