Can't delete account "Other"

An account named "Other" was created on my laptop by the Genius at the Apple Store because he didn't have my account password. I'm unable to delete it because it doesn't show up in the Accounts pref pane or the Users folder. Anywhere else I should be looking?

The "Other…" user in the login window isn't a real user - it's a button that makes it more convenient to log in to hidden user accounts (in some situations, it may alert you to the presence of activated hidden accounts on the computer). It is likely that the "Genius" enabled the "root" user to gain access to your computer.
It is generally considered good practice to keep the "root" account disabled, as it is by default. Try opening "/Applications" > "Utilities" > "NetInfo Manager.app" and look under the "Security" menu to see if there is an option to disable the "root" user (it may be necessary to "authenticate" first). Disabling "root" should take care of the "Other…" button.

Delete those apps that are not under your Apple ID and re-download them using your Apple ID.

As a registered developer you have access to the registered developers discussions area and direct access to the appropriate Apple personnel in regards to such a question. Pretty sure app reviews can't be deleted, but this is far from the appropriate place to get an answer for this.

I have old email messages from friends and family that I want to keep in my mail folders, but I no longer use that email account. Can I delete the account without deleting all the historic email associated with it? Or do I have to look at that now grayed account name forever in my sidebar?

If I understand you right, all I need to do is move all my messages out of the INBOX of the account I'm deleting, and into other folders I created under the ON MY MAC section. Deleted account messages will only be deleted from the INBOX. (well, HELP should have said so, instead it just said ALL mail from that account will be deleted).
Now, if I SENT mail from the account I delete, that account's mail in the SENT folder be deleted also because it has not been moved into a folder I created in the ON MY MAC section, Correct?

I am trying to delete an account (old work exchange) from my ical and it will not let me. When I click on the account in peference> accounts> I get the wait I am thinking circle. This account has a password and have forgotten what it is but would not think that this would matter if I was just trying to delete the account. Thanks in advance!

It sounds like all of your "Ids" are using the same username and incoming mail server. If that is so, they are the same account and Mail will not let you create multiple instances of it.
The solution is to (in Mail) go to Preferences, click Accounts, and then select your existing account. In the email address field, add your additional Ids behind the original email address separated by commas. For example,
[email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

How can I delete the "Other" on my MacBook Air HD?

I recently noticed that on my 128GB hardrive on my MacBook Air, there is only about 1.66GB left of space, and that 59.97GB is taken up by "Other". This is really frusturating seeing as I have no idea how to access these files and delete them. I think it might be local back ups from Time Machine, but I have backed up my hardrive to my external drive since i noticed the huge loss of space and I have since then turned off Time Machine but stiill the "Other" is still there. So could someone please help me in figuring out how to get rid of all this excess filler would be fantastic. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me figure this out, its highly appreciated

Local snapshots from Time Machine are in the "backups category". "Other" is considered a miscelaneous category. It is made up of everything that doesn't fit in the other, more defined categories. I found multiple apps., of Firefox, Mozilla Firefox applications. I only need version 16.0. How can I delete all other versions??

My program files on both Drives C and E, show only one version of Firefox, but I saw 3 other applications called FIREFOX, MOZILLA FIREFOX, AND ANOTHER FIREFOX. I wanted Firefox version 16.0, downloaded it, but now see a Version 24.0 that I didn't download, thus, these numerous applications are using massive amounts of disc space. Please advise the best way of getting rid of all the others and keeping only version 16.0.

You should only be using Firefox 24, Firefox 16 is insecure and not support anymore.

Settings > iTunes and App Store > Apple ID = Sign Out... Then Sign In using the preferred Apple ID.
It should be Noted that anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

What apps are you trying to delete? Apps that come on the phones cannot be deleted in this fashion. Only apps you purchase from the app store can be deleted.

When you're tapping and holding on the apps are they jiggling? If you are seeign jiggling then restrctions may be on. If that's the case follow these steps.
Check that you haven't enabled Restrictions, you can turn toggle the ability to delete apps through there.
Goto:
Settings
General
Restrictions
Enter your Restrictions Passcode
Scroll down and check to see if Deleting Apps has been enabled (On - so can delete) or disabled (Off - so CAN'T delete).

Yes. Still the same situation here... My provider (T-Mobile Germany) and Apple say that the affected voicemail would be just like a damaged file. It can't be deleted because it is not recognized as "deletable" due to its damage. Every backup process would restore the damaged file as it was before... The only solution would be to completely reset the iPhone to the factory settings without using any backup via iTunes.

You can't do this, and you can't transfer purchases between accounts. There is no conflict about using one ID for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match (the ID you've been using for iTunes) and using the other ID for iCloud.
