i've accidentally synced my photos on to my mac and can't delete any albums or old photos off of my iphone 4

Adding your comment to a thread marked solved is not likely to get you any answers. Also adding the same comment to multiple threads will not help either. If you have a specific problem with respect to the Photos app, create a new question. Give your question a short but succint title. In the body of the question explain clearly what your problem is, what you have done already to correct it and what, if any, error messages you received.

Can't find albums or old photos

I'm not sure what kind of software update my computer did. I can't find my pictures or albums. This has also happened in itunes with my playlists. Can anyone tell me how to find them and how to get them back into my iphoto library?

I have iPhoto 6. Version 6.0.6, my OS X version 10.5.8. I don't know what kind of software updates were done and I don't know how to check it. Software Update told me that new software was available and that I needed to restart my computer, so I did. When my computer restarted, none of my data such as my albums in I photo or all the pictures in my library were where they were supposed to be.

They will not be deleted if they have been imported to your iPhoto library. To ensure this happens automatically, go to iPhoto>Preferences>iCloud and check Automatic Import:
To confirm that they have been imported to your library, click on iCloud on the left sidebar of iPhoto, open your My Photo Stream album on the right, then Control-Click on your pictures. If you see "Show in Library" in the pop-up, the picture has been imported to your library and you can safely delete it from photo stream.

If you synced the Photos from your computer to your phone, you have to unsync the pictures via iTunes.
Summary Pane > Photos > Uncheck "Sync Photos from ..."

Try this:
1. Start from the homescreen of your Iphone/pod (for dummies: where all of your "apps" are).
2. Look for an app on your homescreen titled "Photos", when you find it - Click it.
3. When the app opens, go ahead and look towards the bottom of your phonescreen.
     You should see a navigation with three different options;
       "Photos", "Shared" & "Albums"; Why don't you just go ahead and click on "Albums", there we go - Very nice!
4. On the next screen that appears, it should display your different albums.
     Look for "Recently Deleted", and when you find it - Click on it.
       It should be on that list somewhere (or there's a problem!).
5. Now you should see a screen displaying all of the recent photos you've deleted.
     The term we know as "recent" to iOS is thirty days (that's 720 hours in people-time!).
       You will have to click to each individual photo, however at the bottom left-hand cornor of every photo take notice of the 'Delete' option.

I sync any photos you synced there from your computer. You can delete camera roll photos when you see the thumbnails by tapping edit and then ticking the photos you want gone and then tap delete. You can delete photos in settings/general/usage/photos and camera swipe across camera roll and then tap delete to delete everything in the camera roll. You can do the same for photo library and photo stream if you want them all gone

They are deleted in the same way as photos, which are deleted by : only photos/videos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/wesites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo/video in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view. Photos/videos that were synced from your computer are deleted by removing them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing.

You will need to connect your iPad to your computer, and on the Photos tab de-select those folders that you no longer want on the iPad - they can't be deleted directly on the iPad. If you no longer want any synced photos on your iPad then you can select and sync just an empty folder.

Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
I assume you've already consisdered manually managing your iPod's contents and rejected that idea.
I wouldn't recommend it as a solution, but if you delete the files for the albums leaving the entries in the iTunes library you can carry on syncing normally. iTunes will complain that it can't sync the missing files but it won't remove the copies from your iPod. Once you're happy with how things work you can can choose to suppress the error message.
While handy as a temporary workaround if space is an issue then it's probably time to look at moving your whole library to a bigger drive.
